Yes, the money is very real. You have to provide a valid credit card or bank account, and the money is put into that account after the deal is concluded. Taxes also apply, as does interest on any balances not payed within the NationStates game.

Seriously no. And yes I was being sarcastic. The money is all "fake" and exists only within the game. As a rule of thumb though, if you don't have the budget full of "fake" funds, you probably shouldn't try and buy anything. In that case, wait until your country does have the money. Otherewise, have fun buying things! :P
