Today the Defence Ministry announced that, due to current, unspecified events, the Army, Navy, Air Force and Special Defence Organisations were going to begin massive increases. This would include inlisting all reservists, and increasing army wages and cadet recruitment programs. The new levels and projected levels were not released, but it is expected that troop numbers will be tripled at the minimum, and equipment numbers will be doubled at the minimum.

Troops are also being mobilised to desert areas of Jonothana for extensive training.

There is speculation that these troop increases, which must have a reason, are due to increased enemy or imperialistic threats, and some are even going as far as saying that a world war, right wing versus left is imminent. However due to Jonothanas centrism, it is unlikly that this would be so.

Anti - terrorist increases have also taken place, so it is unlikley this increase is for anti - terrorism purposes as it is not the concern of this ministry, but that of the Counter - Terrorism ministry.

Today the KPM spoke on the increses and dispelled some romours:

"We have, as you are no doubt aware, increased our military significantly. We thank IDF for their support and we will consider purchases.

This is not due to an increases terrorist threat, that has been dealt with. This is not due to a move to imperialism, we will always stay defencive. And it is certainly not, as one seeming racist imperialist nation suggested, to fight against Muslims, or any other religion for that matter. Other than that I am unable to tell you"

The Army level is now 4 Million troops

The (new) structure of the Army has been released:

Section A-D of 1 Million troops

Section A (Identical to all others)

Subsection 1 – 10 A, 100,000 troops E.g. Subsection 2 A

Divisions 1 – 20 (-) 1 – 10 A, 5000 Troops E.g. Division 15 - 2 A

Regiments 1st – 5th (-) 1 – 20 (-) 1 – 10 A, 1000 Troops E.g. 3rd Regiment of 15 – 2 A

Official Statement:
We are not going to support this increase in forces on the part of Jonothana, for a few reasons.

1.We do not know whether or not this is propaganda. In that result we would be wasting money and time supporting them

2.We do not see clear reason for the increase and see a possible threat. Resulting in a possible attack on an unsuspecting nation, we will not partake in that.

3.we do not help any nation that is not our ally, especially through forces increase, for it may comeback to be opposing us.

In direct correlation with these desicions the following actions will be taken.

1.We are not allowing any trade with Jonothana

2.No ships will be navigating through their waters.

3.No planes shall enter their airspace

These are exempt in extreme situations.

Minister of Military & Defense Lord Sesresta Mukashi reviewed the tape in silence, his best lieutenants surrounding him in the viewing room. The air was heavy and still, and the tape ended, only to start up again at the push of a button. The men and women peered intently at the screen, as if waiting for a sign to tell them that this was all a hoax, but none came. The tape was played over and over again, until Mukashi slammed down the remote in anger. Some of the lieutenants shivered nervously. Mukashi almost never showed emotion of any kind since the civil war that had taken place many years ago in Tioszaea. He had been badly wounded, and a hideous scar dominated the right side of his face, crossing through his eye, which was now cloudy and white. When the man did show emotion, it was always to not be taken lightly; the last man who had made an attempt to lighten Mukashi's mood a few years back had to be immediatly sent to a hospital. He was in a coma for over three months.

But most of the lord's outbursts were short-lived, and this was no exception. The madness flushed from his face, and suddenly he was all business.

"Ladies and gentlemen, we have what could be a possible war on our hands. I want all spare funds that we have to be spent in the manufacture of automated weapon defense systems as soon as the money can be wired. Also, fire up the troops and keep them ready for anything, I want a 24-hour watch at all times. Do it by eye or by machine, I don't care, but we could have invasion on our hands. By what or whom, I don't know, and we may very well be passed by, but if we aren't, I do not want to be caught unguarded. Triple security on trade vessels as well, inspect each piece of cargo. This is a serious situation, and we must be ready. Go, now!" Grim determination gleamed in his eye, and a fire grew steadily in his heart, something that had not happened for many, many years.

The last word broke the spell. Half the people whipped out a cell phone and began talking very quickly. Others just left in the armored cars they arrived in. All in all, the room was empty in under five minutes. Mukashi was the last one to leave.

The army is planning to increase the number of sections by one, due to increased enlistments. The official total now stands at 3.23 Million but is projected to rise to 4 Million soon.

What I meant was: Do you live in the "real world?" ie is your nation situated in asia or what? also, what kind of tech are you playing by?

I am situated in Portugal, so basically I'm asking if your near enough to pose a threat.

Well, I don't realy have any rl territory but I do have (on Earth V)...Iberia.

So if you do not ignore EV then I may pose a threat. (I don't but it would be nice to get dragged in).

Iberia? where is that relative to portugal? is it on a new continent, somewhere in siberia? or do you just not do the RL world map? which is cool too.

Iberia is the "region name" for the Iberian Peninsula.

The peninsula which Spain and Porto happen to be on.

So either you embrace our existance, or we forget about my ownership of Porto for the time being.

And there is currently a localised Civil War happening in Spain, right up the Southern Western side. There is chance of a revoulution. We are errecting defences to make sure the violence doesn't spill into Portugal.

The Empire of Bellari is also expanding its land, sea and air forces. We would like to offer a contingient of troops from the Bellarian Army and Air Force to assist Jonothana its quest to protect its borders. We offer an alliance that will put a number of our most fierce troops at your service. If there is one thing and aggressors respect, it is military might.

Aggression is illegal in Jonothana unless justified. Due to the low size of your nation, we will decline. An army of 1 million in your nation would be 25% of the population and thus immpossible. The maximum feasible army number would be 50 000.

We would like to point out that the Dr_Twist Government along with its Allies is working as closely as we can with NATO to attempt to cool down the Situation in Europe, As a breakout of a such a scale war in Europe happens every estimated 3 months, But we are hoping to stop this situation from exploding to the size of past wars in Europe.

The Prime Minister sat in at the end of the table, surrounded by his advisors. Word had reached them of a possible increase in the Spain Civil War, made likely by the build up of forces.

"You must understand, gentlemen, that it is of utmost importance that the people of Portugal remain safe. Civil wars are notorious for spilling over international borders, and the last thing we need is our own people getting hurt. I have arranged a meeting with NATO, the UN, and multi-national organisations for permission to recommence buildup on the Spain / Portugal border, in the interest of national security. Tell our people that they are safe, and to brace themselves. There are dark times ahead."

Throughout the nation, people listned to the Parliaments official spokesmen tell them what to expect. Civilians near the hotspot in southern portugal were put on evacuation notice, and the Portuguese Military prepared to mobolize southwards. Reconosaince fighter flew around Spain to try to get a grasp on the situation, while submarinese entered the gulf at a max of 4 knots, minimizing the possibility of sonar detection.

The emissary to NATO presented a heartfelt speech to the nations' representatives. He made it clear "that Portugal's prior indescretions" against Spain, referring to Hatai's War of 1987, were in the past, and by a different government. "Give Portugal a chance to protect our neighbour. Just as we trespassed against them, allow us to make it up to them, so that relations with Spain can finally be restored, after all this time."

Jonothana has increased it's defences on the border to Portugal.

We hope that the violence does not spill into Portugal or the rest of Spain for that matter. However we advise a secondany defence in Portugal and contingency plans should violences spread.

ooc: Just roleplaying the diplomacy part of getting troops on the border. I lost a war between Spain and Portugal a long while ago, so am just RPing the history of that war. That one post was all I really intended on the matter.

IC: Neo Portuguese troops are being deployed along the border at a slow, but rapidly increasing, rate. SAM sites are being place in sheltered locations, and artillery is being prepared in the event of defensive or tactical deployment. Reservists are being put on alert, but are not yet being mobolized.

((OOC:Ok, heres the map. The red line is the border defences, and the black line is where Jonothanian Frotntline defences have held back the civil war. Ok, it's too big, I'll sort it out later.))

IC: The Jonothanian Civil War Diplomacy Commitee (CWDC) has questioned whether Neo - Portugals actions are to defend from CW spread or whether support of the Capitalists of war against Jonothana is planned.

Official Media Release to the Internation Community:

With the Internation Bodies support, Neo Portugal will move in and try to set up "Safe Points" - area where troops of both sides are allowed to come to receive medical treatment. All soldiers coming into these Safe Zones will be removed to Neo Portuguese soil, where they will be safe to heal, and will be returned to their respective nations after hostilities have ended. Please be assured that they are NOT POWs, but rather that Neo Portugal wants to minimize casualties and hopefully reduce the scale of the conflict. We will view ourselves as a peace keeping body, with no official ties to either sides of the conflict.

What do you mean, if they got through security? If rebels enter Neo Portuguese safe zones, they will be granted medical aid upon sacrifice of their arms. After they are provided medical aid, they will be shipped into Neo Portugal, where they will be guests to the nation until the war is ended.

Neo Portugal is going in as a peace keeping, humanitarian nation. Attacks on Neo Portuguese troops, personel, or facilities by either side will be viewed as an act of aggression, even war.
