((OOC: Notice to anyone who wants to participate: Keep force deployments small, if you indeed send soldiers. The conflict zone is rather small, and it would be rediculous to be deploying massive armies. Use your best judgment.))

The pen glided over the bottom of the heavy sheet of paper. The flowing, curved letters connecting to form the signature. The man lifted the pen, and it was done. The last of the twenty names that would begin a movement of secession from the great Imperial Dominions.

It had taken some convincing, but Senator Feador Mikavich had finally agreed to put his name down on that paper. In his view, and the view of the rest of the provincial government, for too long the government had abused them. For too long the Imperial Praetorians had brought the sword. For too long the Emperor had ignored the constitution of the land, and corrupted the senate. It was time for change. It was time for democracy, and hopefully, this secession would be the first step.

The document was a declaration of independence from the small eastern province of Buchiana. This province had born most of the economic brunt of the Empire's wars for the past twenty years, being home to several important Black Sea ports. The Imperial garrisons had long abused the people, Praetorians literally taking over homes and turning them into barracks and supply centers, leaving the homeowners to sleep in the streets.

The taxes on the province had been rediculous, and far too much for the largely middle class population to bear, but the proverbial last straw had been an act issued last week. An act issued by the Imperial government calling for the eviction of over one half of the city of New Bucharest's population, so that military supply centers could be constructed. This was why these twenty men, senators, priests, mayors, fathers, shopkeepers, businessmen, brothers, and sons, had gathered in homes over the past week to decide what would be done. This was the reason why those twenty men's names were now on that document, on that table, in that living room, in that moderately sized home in New Bucharest.

"Politics is war without bloodshed, while war is politics with bloodshed."
-Mao Tse-tung

-------------------------

Emperor Antonius read the declaration that had been delivered to his desk earlier that morning. He rubbed his head with his fingers, as if it caused him physical pain.

"What a way to start the morning."

Chancellor Avidius Cassius stood next to him.

"And what shall we do, Lord?"

Antonius sighed heavily.

"We will bury them."

"Excellent my Lord."

"Mobilize our second and third northern armies. Tell the provincial garrisons to keep things under control until we arrive."

"Of course, Lord."

"Oh, and Cassius."

"Yes?"

"Send General Ivanov."

Cassius chuckled.

"By all means."

------------------------------------

The crowd had gathered before the barracks. They yelled and jeered at the soldiers who stood before the gates, trying to keep order. Suddenly, a molotov cocktail hurtled through the air. The glass smashed on the iron rail, and several soldiers caught fire. The men were outnumbered, and the crowd charged, attacking them with iron pipes and two-by-fours.

A gunshot ripped the air, and a soldier fell to the ground, his knee covered in blood. Three soldiers returned fire with AK-74s, and a group of protestors dropped. The captain of the Imperial soldiers ordered his men to fall back into the barracks. The men did so, sealing the gate from the angry crowd.

Within an hour, the riot had subsided, and the crowd dispersed, carrying their fallen with them.

GII International News

Greetings my fellow Imperial Brothers. Today, as you no doubt already are aware, the province of Buchiana declared its independence from the Imperial dominion. Our good Chancellor Avidius Cassius delivered a short speech today to the Generian people in which he called the Buchianans "Ungrateful rogues and vagabonds."

The Imperial government has yet to issue a formal statement, but it is expected that they will refuse to recognize the sovereignty of the secessionists, and take measures to bring Buchiana back into the Empire.

In related news, an Imperial garrison in the province fell under attack from an angry mob. No Imperial casualties are reported, but several soldiers did sustain minor cuts and bruises. Three civilians are reported dead.

Imperial Regular divisions have been reported mobilizing throughout the Empire, particularly in the city of Port Belgrade...

Excerpt from Statement from Acting Buchianan Prime Minister Josef Steyovich:

It is with great sadness that I declare my people responsible for the riot that occured earlier. It is not my intention to use violence in any case in dealing with the Imperial soldiers, government, or citizens. Those responsible for the violence have been apprehended, and will be given a fair trial by judge and jury for their crimes.

We hope that the Imperial government will see fit to enter negotiations with the Buchianan government, to determine new relations and policies. We do not want war.

To my citizens, let us take the moral high road. Let us demonstrate peacefully. We are not barbarians. This is exactly why we have seceeded, to bring peace and a better way of life to Buchiana, not to destroy it and each other. We are all brothers, and...

Coordinator Achilles Brown was tucking into his breakfast when the message arrived. The adept walked over the busily eating Coordinator and waited to be recognized. 5 minutes later Achilles finished his meal and noticed the adept

"What have you got boy," he said gruffly

"Coordinator, message from the Foreign Service, Sir." He handed Achilles a typed sheet of paper.

"Hmmm....Secession in the Generic Empire.......Violence flaring up already, ach this won't last long, look, Antonius is already mobilzing his armies, if he hates anything more than un-civilized tribesman its traitors."

"Y-Y-Yes, sir I agree," stammered the adept, floored that the Coordinator had conversed with him

"Well I doubt he needs any help but tell the Foreign Service to send out this message to Antonius,

I'm deeply saddened by the events in your empire, should you need assistance do not hesistate to ask us. We will help you crush these turn-coats Your friend and ally.

Emperor Kellerman sat behind his heavy dark oak desk filing out some official forms. The black phone that sat on his desk rang.

"Hello?"
"Good morning sir, it's Christian"
"Ah, and how are you this morning?"
"Good sir, but I have some ergent news"
"About?"
"Generic Empire, sir, it seems that the province of Buchiana is trying to seperate from the empire."
"What's happend so far?"
"Emperor Antonius has mobolized troops against the people."
The emperor thought for a minute.
"Send 300 peacekeepers, make sure this doesn't escalate."
"Yes sir."
"And Christian, keep me informed"
"Of course sir."
The emperor hung up the phone, sat back in his chair and sighed. 2 hours later, 30 Chinook Helicopters carrying 10 troops and supplies each lifted from a helipad. A message was sent to the Generic Empire,
"Sending peacekeepers to help with your situation. Do with them as you will."

((OOC: I'm thinking of turning this into sort of a Chechan conflict thing.))

The now nation of Buchiana had been forced to move quickly in creating an army. Citizen volunteers armed with leftover AK-74s made up the military might of the tiny secessionist province. They had tanks, leftover T-80s and 95s, but this would do little against the full might of the Imperial military. If it came to war, they would have to resort to urban guerilla tactics, and street to street fighting to disrupt the Imperial armies.

Buchianan Rebels Dig In

-------------------------------------

Official Imperial Statement

The Imperial government shall never recognize the sovereignty of these pathetic vagabonds that would separate from our glorious empire. We will see to it that this 'nation' is returned to the union with utmost force.

As Emperor, with the backing of the senate I have authorized the mobilization of the second and third northern armies to move in and secure the capital. The heads of this movement will be hanged in Generia City like the dogs they are.

This movement will fail like every other rebel movement in Generian history.

----------------------------------------

Prime Minister Josef Steyovich read the declaration in horror. He had hoped that the Imperial government would accept reason and hold peace talks. Now, they were out for his head. His army was ill trained, and ill equipped to do battle with the Imperial military. He would stand no chance, but still, Buchiana would fight for her sovereignty, and for freedom from the oppressive Generian government. Prime Minister Steyanovich went about drafting a statement.

-----------------------------------------------------

Plea For Help to The International Community

It has recently been declared that the Imperial government is out to destroy my nation, and bring my head to Emperor Antonius. My people are ill-equipped to stand against the might of the Imperial military, and are forced to appeal to other nations for support. Hear our plea, and deliver us from oppression.

-------------------------------------------------------

Generian Military Base, twenty miles outside of Port Belgrade

General Georg Ivanov slid his finger across the heavy envelope, and removed the statement within. His orders were very simple: unleash hell on Buchiana and crush the secession before it got out of hand. This would be an enjoyable task.

The General walked out into the cold air. A light snow was falling. His cigar warmed him, however. His men were mounting up, as he had already ordered them to do, and soon they would be on their way to battle, if you could call it that. The odds were far in the Empire's favor.

Within four hours, the first of the Imperial mobile infantry divisions had reached the Buchianan border.

On the western border, the Imperial armor rumbled over the ground. The light snow continued to fall. The forests and rolling hills of Buchiana were beautiful, and seemed themselves unaware of the destruction that would soon grace their presence.

Overhead, two GIF-77s streaked across the sky.

"Sofia 2, that's it up there. Copy. Over."

"Sofia 1, I copy."

"Move in for the kill."

A small village lay beside a stream up ahead. There were sandbags visible in the streets, and machine guns poked out from behind the barriers. The Buchianan soldiers watched the frontier idly, or sat inside to warm themselves. The snow had become a light drizzle, and the icy water hurt the skin. The GIF-77s appeared from over the ridge, and began to bear dwon on the town.

The Buchianan guards on patrol pointed at the sky, and called in their particular dialect of Generian. The men scurried to take cover, or man an anti-aircraft gun that sat in the town center.

"Bombs away, Sofia 1."

"Roger."

The aircraft screeched in overhead, deploying their payload. The bombs exploded, and pillars of fire shot into the grey skies. The roar of explosions rumbled across the hills and dales surrounding the small town.

In the streets, dazed soldiers stumbled around, looking for their dead and wounded comrades. Burning wreckage littered the streets. In the skies, the GIF-77s turned and headed back to their airbase.

General ivanov had been given complete control of the suppression of the Buchianan succession. This man was a war dog in the purest sense. he had enlisted at eighteen to fight rebels in Alberia, and had seen action through every major conflict since, including Shoobooshaba, Mozambique, and Psov. He had been a loyalist commander during the civil war, and staunch supporter of Tiberius. After his death, the General had given his oath of loyalty to Emperor Antonius, and later Chancellor Cassius as well.

Ivanov was renowned for his superb leadership skills, and his utterly ruthless tactics. Emperor Antonius had had him handpicked for this job, as he was among all things, a man who could get the job done.

Now, he stood over a table, peering at a map. He drew a red circle around a town in the west of the province, and spoke to the others gathered around the map.

"This is St. Marie, a large border stronghold for the rebels. most of their frontline supplies' final destination is here."

His finger moved towards the top of the map.

"Up here-"

He drew a red circle around another town.

"-is Sorograd, and more importantly, the sorograd national airport. There is no doubt in my mind that the rebels will use this to bring their men and supplies tot he northern part of the province. No foreigners here. They're probably coming in further east, near New Bucharest."

General Ivanov moved into an upright position, and looked at his commanders.

"what I propose we do, is cut off these two strongholds, and set up a chokepoint for the frontline. If they can't get their supplies, they can't fight back."

He went back tot he map.

"We have three armored divisions moving in from the west. Our mobile infantry, and the main regular army divisions should be following shortly. We can run airstrikes from here, here, and here, and long range bombers from as far in as Sofia. If we hit fast, we can take St. Marie in two days.

Up here, we have our fifth and seventh Praetorian battalions moving with close armor and air support. Again, we move fast and hard, and we got Sorograd."

The General stood to look at his men. They nodded in agreement.

"Alright boys, let's make it happen."

The supply trucks were coming in daily to St. Marie. In the large town, the Buchanians were digging in for a gritty battle with the Imperial army that was surely bearing down on them.

In the forests surrounding the town, soldiers went about laying mines, and setting up sniper camps and machine gun nests. Advanced scouting revealed the imperial armies to be less than three hours’ march from their position. Apparently, most of the border towns had fallen with little resistance, and the majority of the frontier army was now gathering in St. Marie.

The three Imperial armored divisions rumbled over the dry fields to the west of St. Marie. Colonel Georgie Kuskov peered from the hatch of his Doomingsland made M1-A5.

“Farm up ahead. Let’s head towards it, see if we can catch some rebels scavenging for food.”

A group of five tanks detached, and headed for the farm. The vehicles rumbled over a field, and towards a barn. Suddenly, an RPG-7 struck the tank. The armor deflected the missile, and it bounced to where it exploded three yards away. Fire opened up, and the Colonel ducked back into his vehicle.

“Bastards don’t know what they’re up against.”

“There’s only a few of them.”

“Probably a scouting party. Let’s kick some ass.”

The tanks wheeled around, turning their cannons on the barn. A shell slammed into the wooden structure, and leveled it. Burning planks flew into the field. A group of three soldiers began to dash towards a tree line. It was 100 yards away. They would never make it. The tanks machine guns sprang to life and the rebels were cut down.

“They won’t be bringing back any info today. Alright boys, move out! We got a siege to go to!”

The five tanks turned and sped off to rejoin the armored units.

Secret IC:

Commander Uzi Ivanova of the Danarkadia Defense Union and Thelonius Ford of the Union for Foreign Affairs stood at the table before the Central Council, whose thirteen members sat at a long table on the far end of the room. Behind them was an auditorium full of syndics and representatives from the various federations. Here was the central decision making body of Danarkadia. The Council held authority, but the Politic, the collection of representatives in the auditoriums seating, held all the power. A simple arrangement that worked well for a nation that had no government, only the organization of labor.

"Speak and be heard." said the Speaker of the Council, a middle-aged man named Joseph Smith.

Ford began his presentation. He tapped something on a console set into the table before him, uploading a data package to each of the Council Members consoles before them. A map of the Generic Empire, with the province of Buchiana, snapped onto all their screens and was projected onto a large screen above the Council Members table so all could see. Everyone knew the gist of the situation, however, as everyone had been given information packets before the meeting. Most had already made their decision.

"The province of Buchiana has engaged in a war of seccession with the central government of the Generic Empire." spoke Thelonius. "Many have come to the aid of the Imperial government and Buchiana looks to be crushed. According to our intelligence sources, the seperatists are extremely popular, as neglect and oppression have disenfranchised much of the population from the central government. We expect that the Generic Empire will have to undergo a brutal campaign to truly supress the freedom fighters."

"The Council understands the situation, Brother Ford. What is it you suggest we do?" replied Smith.

"It is the recommendation of the UFA and the DDU that we do not engage in official military intervention, but support the Buchianian seperatists politically and lend guerilla assistance."

"Is this the consensus of the Defense Union?" asked Smith.

"It is." replied Uzi. "As you know, we have several thousand specialists who would be willing to train these people in guerilla warfare and aid in smuggling arms into the province. Should they be deployed, they would need funding and arms shipments to achieve their aims. They're quite skilled at playing financial transactions to hide where money will come from, so it is unlikely that it will be traced back to us with any degree of certainty. If captured, they will also deny their nationality."

"Very well...."muttering among the Council Members. "The consensus of the Council is that we follow the suggestions of the DDU and UFA. Is there consensus of the Politic?" Two loud stomps came from the auditorium.

"Dissent?" Silence.

"It is decided. Let the archives show that on this day, the Unity voted to support the Buchianian uprising"

Commnunique to the Buchanian Seperatists

It is our wish to support you in your cause and lend the support of 3000 specialists. They are experts in guerilla warfare and terrorist tactics and will aid in training and equipping your people to fight the armies of the Empire. They will also aid in smuggling resources such as foodstuffs, armaments, and medical supplies to support your people.
Expect the first shipment of arms with the specialists. They will be using Kalashnikov variants in order to hide their country of origin, as this weapon is not the standard issue for our armed forces. We will also send grenades, rifle grenades, single-use anti-tank rockets (much more affective against armored personnel carriers), and plastic explosives.

May your righteousness prevail over oppression.

Shryke activated hs camo and stepped behind Viper.

"Lez go."

Viper took off at a run as buildings exploded in the distance. Then closer. He could hear the rumble of tanks on both sides. Fire lit the air as projectiles streamed back and forth. The trip out was that of a maze. Debris closed passageways while soldiers stood in others. IT looked as if the defenses weren't fully online, just a massive tumult.

When Viper came to a dead-end soldiers unwittingly cornered him by stepping into the ally. He saw a door and flung it open with Shryke just behind.

"what the hell was that?!"

"I dunno, but we better go look."

Viper quickly made it to the roof and jumped a gap to another Shryke came after. Juping here and there, running, walking, all part of it.

When Viper neared the front of the allied attack, he was caught offguard. He and Shryke let smiles slide on their faces as ther building began to collapse beneath them. Viper grabbed onto a drain that was falling off as it fell he slid down to safety. But Shryke had jumped for ti and misssed. He hung onto the adjacent roof for dear life.

"Just hold on!"

Viper looked around when he heard a tank shell.

The building exploded and Shryke flew off. His mind quickly processed what to do. Then he saw Hannari soldiers. He landed on them killing them. But he recieved only minor scrapes.

((OOC: Thanks for being patient. I really needed to catch up. I'm rewinding a bit to the very beginning of the assault on St. Marie.))

St. Marie, 1900 Hours

The town lay nestled in the hills among the forests and rocky ridges of the lower foothills of the Jiuria Mountains. She stood like a rock amid the rolling fields, and farmlands that were eastern Buchiana. These fields had become large mudholes with the incessant drizzle that had claimed the better portion of the day. Now, the grey skies were becoming darker as the sun began to sink low in into the distant Black Sea.

The air was cold and peaceful, ill suspecting of the calmities that would come on this rainy November evening. Beyond those forests, the steel beasts rumbled, and the brutal armies trodded through the mud.

Colonel Georgie Kuskov leaned back idly, his torso protruding from the hatch of his tank. The three armored divisions moved with him. His group would hit St. Marie head on. The second would accompany the Infanrty force moving in from the south, while the third would provide a second wave after the defenses had been broken. The garrison int he town would not be able to withstand the shock of the forces colliding on their small fortress.

Imperial Tank Moves In Towards St. Marie

A squadron of GIF-77s moved in high overhead.

"This is Sofia-1, we're coming up on our target."

"Copy, Sofia-one. Arming up."

"Roger. Send 'em back to God."

The aircraft, a total of twenty-five, dived in on the fast approaching town. They screeched down from the heavens like craven vultures, and as they approached, rained death and hellfire on the town. The bombs exploded, sending mangled bodies flying through the air. The burning carcasses of Ural trucks and anti-aircraft batteries were left in the muddy streets. As the aircraft passed over, a SAM locked on from an installation in a nearby wood. The missile shot up over the tree-line.

"Fuck! Evasive maneuvers!"

The aircraft broke formation. A second, third, and fourth SAM rocketed forth from different installations. Two aircraft managed to outmaneuver the miisiles, and turned to refuel and reload. Two were not as lucky. Both were unglulfed in balls of fire. Both pilots ejected, and the black parachutes opened, as they fell gently to Earth.

Captain Ivan Marko, and Captain Georg Krazhne both found themselves stranded, one hanging from a tree, the other in the middle of an open field with an injured leg.

The armor advanced, capitalizing on the recovering defense. Nearby Imperial artillery opened fire. Building exploded, sending wreckage flying through the streets. The Buchianan army scrambled about, manning the machine gun nests, and tending to the sandbag barriers.

From out of the woods, like angels of death came the line of tanks. The cannon fired and the machine guns raged. Bullets peppered the dirt, and cannon shells slammed into the barriers. A rebel, the first to fall in this battle, caught a bullet in the arm. He stood, shocked, and took two more in the chest. As he fell backwards, a bullet found a home in his skull. His AK-74 clattered on the concrete.

The armor advanced, accompanied by footsoldiers, with XM-8s blazing. An anti-tank shell slammed into an M1-a5, and the turret burst off like a kernal of corn. A fiery hulk was left. The cannon of another tank turned and landed a shell in the gun. The first tanks hit the barricade, as rebel soldiers scrambled to withdraw into the town. The sandbags were crushed, and the tanks moved over into the streets. The rebels were pursued deeper towards the center of the town.

Colonel Kuskov watched the infrared display in the turret his tank.

"There!"

An RPG slapped the side of the vehicle, again bouncing off, this time into a storm drain. The turret swivelled, and put a shell into a nearby shop. The glass exploded outward, along with the would-be tank killer. The infantry squads followed the armor, covering the tanks with rifle fire, and storming small shops that were serving as cover. The rebels fired from windows, and from behind barriers.

Sergeant Jacob Sanovan followed his commander, a certain Lieutenant Jaroslav down a street, keeping to the sides of buildings. Suddenly, the tank they were following exploded as a shell hit it. The men scrambled, but the lieutenant caught an enormous chunk of shrapnel across the throat, leaving his head nearly severed. Sergeant Sanovan yelled to his men.

"Shit! Barrier up ahead! Get off your asses!"

His team scrambled to their feet. Two were hit as the machine guns opened up. The sergeant and his remaining men ran across the deadly street to a nearby shop. Another man fell, to be cut to ribbons by machine gun fire.

Sergeant Sanovan ducked intot he building, and rested himself against a wall of the building, a bakery. He had eight with him. He breathed deeply.

"Alright apes, let's take that thing out."

He scrambled across the shop, towards another door that opened into the intersection of the street that housed the barricade, and anti-tank cannon. He thought better of it as he approached the door, and turned towards a back door, that opened into an alley. His squad moved through the alley, stopping at the end, while they waited for their chance. The cannon sounded, and the machine guns stopped to reload. The sergeant shouted with all his breath.

"GO!"

The men poured out into the intersection, cutting down the surprised rebels. The sergeant sprinted towards the cannon, gunning down two men who stood in his way. He placed a satchel charge, and turned, sprinting towards another street, and leaping a sandbag barrier. His men followed. The explosion rocked the street as the cannon was annihalated.

The tanks and infantry squads continued to push the rebels back towards the center of the town. They came to a halt as the rebels began to mount stiff resistence at a series of conjoined intersection near the the main government building. The advance was saved as the second wave smashed in fromt he south, tanks and Praetorian squads cutting through and flanking the enemy. The third wave of tanks advanced, moving in to add momentum to the drive for the final push for the capitol building.

Shells exploded buildings holding rebles. THe rooves colapsed encasing them in their tombs. Explosions ripped through the streets like dominoes. One then the next, then the next, and so on. AA defences were destroyed to make way for the aviary branch. THey rained hell on heavily entrenched areas so the infantry and armor had an easier time prying them lose.

The Marines advanced with the Generian forces to the South of St.Marie, the company of 15 M1A2 Abrams led the way, crushing small bushes and trees that stood in their way. The marines swarmed in behind them, crouching, running and ducking behind cover to remain unseen for as long as possible.

Brigadier General Hector Albus sat in his coomand HMVW towards the back of the collum, he heard muffled explosions to the North

"So they've hit them already, well its our turn now."

The Abrams continued to roll forward as they entered the fields around the town. The turret on the lead Abrams swivelled around looking for targets and suddenly stopped. Seconds later a gout of flame blasted out of the muzzle and a nearby copse of trees exploded in flame. Machineguns chattered as the whole area was raked by fire.

The corpses of 5 dead rebels could be seen amongst the fallen trees as the collum moved past.

"We should be hitting the outskirts of the town now" muttered Albus

Out of the fog rose the faint outlines of buildings. As the units drew closer they were met by a stream of tracers from scattered windows. The marines dropped to the gorund and began to return fire with thier XM-8's.

In the end the tanks cleared the way. Their 120mm blew massive holes in the buildings and silenced the machine gun crews and snipers. The rest of the collum streamed into the city....

"Yes VIper."

"We have some strange reports. Apparentkly all the Hannari are heading towards us."

"What do you suggest?"

"FInding a place to hold them off."

While the battle raged throughout the city the two found a small building to hold themselves up in. Viper had 20 men under his control and he intended to use them.

The entrance led to a hall with a staircase in the back. On this was a sandbag wall with several Dinosaurs manning a mounted gun.

On the balcony above them were 2 more to shoot down.

The hall eld to several doors. One of which was looked and led to another hall. In that hall were several dinosaurs manning another mounted gun behind a sandbag perimeter. For 2 floors up booby traps graced the passages. Then on the top floor the two plus the remaining Dinosaur waited. Behind them was a door to a back staircase. The second wave had smashed the rebel flank, and they were now in full flight. The armor rolled over the abandoned sandbag positions, gunning down fleeing rebels. The shells fell, sending chunks of concrete flying into the air, and falling to crack the streets. The third wave of armor pushed through, and joined in the chase. The withdrawing rebels, ducked into buildings, firing at the Imperials.

The guerilla resistance was stuiff, but the momentum gained in the push was too much to bear. The small, better trained Imperial force flushed out and eliminated the enemy combatants. Several IFVs broke through the fleeing rebel line, and stopped before the capitol steps. The praetorians dismounted, and stormed the building. The men charged through the stone hallways, and penetrated onto the roof, where they hauled down a Buchianan flag, and hoisted that of the Empire.

The armor cut off the remaining rebels as they withdrew, and forced their surrender. After a mop up of resistence, the town officially came under Imperial control.

Three hundred rebel soldiers lay dead in the streets. Two hundred were in Imperial custody. Now, the Imperial army would be tasked with mopping up the area, and searching for two reportedly downed pilots.

As the Imperial flag fluttered in the wind, illuminated in the night by spotlights in the center of St. Marie, the rain stopped, and two Imperial air-force captains awaited their fate.

Gun Crews were running, NCOs were yelling and the Officer were constantly checking with the comms officer. After about 35 minutes of shelling. They had to stop some of the Howitzers were smoldering. 35 barrels were melted to imperfection and the gun crews were tired. The Artillery Contingent began to pull back off the hill. The armor units finnaly arrived and began moving into the Countryside to roll into the city of rubble. The image of a once great city and fortress was now the image of the Dresden Aftermath. The Forward Artillery Observer packed up his unit and left with a tear in one eye. "Holy shit," General Ealstan said as he read the inteligence report. "I had no idea the enemy had that many troops. Call back to high command, we're gonna need more troops."
Even as he finished speaking another man ran in with another intelligence report. "We're too late," he said, "They've already hit St. Marie."
"Has it fallen?" the general asked.
"Not yet," the man replied.
"Then we may be able to help," the general mused. "I want planes in the air, now!" he ordered, "And bring the troops into battle order, they may be able to arrive in time to help."

--------------------
The planes swiftly flew toward the combat zone leaving a trail of sonic booms behind them. There were thirty in all 15 Stormblades and 15 Archangels with more ready to fly, if need be.

"We're approaching the combat zone," The Squad commander said. "Archangels protect the Stormblades; Stormblades select your targets, you know the drill."

The planes hit the combat hard, flinging ordinance into the enemy's faces and encouraging the defenders.

The Imperial army was taken aback by the boldness of the unknown enemy aircraft. The rockets slammed into tanks and clusters of soldiers, sending shrapnel and bodies flying.

The GIF-101s, already in patrol of the warzone turned to engage the enemy. The firstsquadron of twenty hit the bombers head on, firing everything they had at the aircraft as they made their pass.

A second group of twenty moved in fromt he side, targeting the archangels. Sidewinders were let lose upon the attackers. Fireballs lit up the dark ground below as flaming metal fell to Earth.

Casualties in Brief:

60 KIA
170 Wounded (Light to Severe)
4 Tanks destroyed
1 disabled
2 damaged

The aircraft hitting in the front flew right into the teeth of the Archangels and a dogfight insued. However the flanking craft hit the Stromblades in the side, as they were making their attack runs and, though some Stormblades finished in time fight back, many were blown out of the sky. At this the Menothian aircraft pulled off so that they wouldn't become encircled.

OCC: This translates to:
5 Archangels and 10 Stormblades destroyed.

Forest Outside of St. Marie

Captain Ivan Marko, an Imperial fighter pilot shot down over the forests of St. Marie, hung suspended by his parachute in a tree 100 feet above the ground. He had dozed off to the sound of explosions as he hung helpless, only to awaken now to a relatively quiet morning. Save the occasional burst of gunfire, or flyover, the air was undisturbed.

He moved his hand to the empty space where his radio had hung, once again hoping to find it there instead of smashed to bits on the ground far below. He sighed as he was once again left disappointed. He turned, trying to lessen his discomfort. Suddenly, a loud squeal and crunching met his ears. As it grew louder, he realized that the sounds were that of a vehicle of some sort, a truck most likely. Slowly, he realized that there were more than one of the things making their way through the leaf covered floor of the dense grove.

Marko stopped moving, and kept his breaths short and quiet, eventually holding them altogether. The trucks came into sight. They were Ural trucks, military vehicles, and there were three of them. One was covered, but the other two were not, clearly revealing the armed soldiers riding in the back. His hopes that they were of friendly nature were dashed, when he saw the Buchianan flag emblazoned on the side of one of the vehicles. He cursed silently to himself, but remained motionless.

His worst fears were realized when the trucks halted, and several soldiers got out, and walked to the base of the tree. They grinned up at the Imperial pilot, some pointing and letting out rough chuckles. They spoke harshly in their native Slavic tongues, as they went about bringing a long ladder from the truck, and setting it up alongside the tree. Still the pilot remained motionless. A man began to climb, as two others held the ladder. As he neared the top, the pilot sent forth a kick, sending the man and the ladder sprawling to the ground below.

Marko’s hand went for his gun. He withdrew the pistol and fired at the soldiers. As the chamber clicked empty, the Buchianans raised their rifles, but an officer shouted to them.

“Stop! We need him alive!”

“But he killed Petrov!”

“He’ll get his. Cut him down.”

The ladder went up, this time reinforced by five men at the bottom. An angry rebel pulled a knife, and cut the pilot free. He fell to the ground, his fall broken slightly by a mattress. He felt the bones in his arm and legs break. As he groaned, the soldiers picked him up and threw him in one of the trucks. He looked over to see a bound figure. Marko recognized it as that of Georg Krazhne. Apparently, he had been captured as well.

Several Miles to the Southeast

Imperial Fourth Infantry, Seventh Armor:
Objective: Mop up St. Marie surrounding area. Locate and eliminate enemy installations and troop concentrations.

Acting Lieutenant Jacob Sanovan sat on the edge of the hatch of his IFV, scanning the flatlands, and watching the other armored vehicles crawl over the earth. Up ahead lay a small town, insignificant, and ignored on most maps. The APCs were heading straight into that town.

The leviathans crawled into the streets, past sparse parked cars, and open windows. The air was warmer than it had been the day before, and curious civilians who had not evacuated the area peered out at the soldiers. A few pillars of smoke rose from different parts of the town. Apparently it had been the victim of a stray airstrike, or artillery bombardment.

Sanovan’s vehicle came to a halt, and he ordered his men out into the street.

“Alright, fan out and check the houses for rebels.”

The men went off, breaking in doors, and entering houses and buildings.

The Unnamed Town

Two soldiers burst into the front room of a small home, brandishing AK-101s. A woman and her daughter huddled inside, frightened by the intrusion. The soldiers lowered their weapons and held up their hands as a sign that they meant no harm. They made a quick apology, and walked back out into the street. As they proceeded to the next house, a man wearing a black ski-mask burst from the door of the house they had just left, brandishing an RPG-7. The soldiers, casually glancing back, turned at the sight, and raised their rifles, but were too late. The rocket propelled grenade slammed into the ground before them, and they were blown back. One man was riddled with shrapnel, and left with an arm barely attached. The other’s legs were injured, one foot severed at the ankle, the other knee sliced clean through.

http://www.documentary.de/chechnya/030825.jpg

The rebel’s glory was short lived, as a burst of fire from startled nearby troops cut him down, leaving his bullet riddled body to spill blood into the street.

Elsewhere, fire opened up from windows, and doorways. The Imperials reacted, taking cover and returning fire. A sniper’s bullet caught a Generian soldier in the back of the head as he ran to take shelter behind a building. The skull fragments fell to Earth, as his body fell, kicking up dust from the street.

The firefight continued for several minutes, eventually ending with the Imperial soldiers storming the buildings the rebels fired from, killing seven and capturing two.

Lt. Sanovan walked out from the door of a house, his AK-101 dangling in one hand. In the street, his men had two unmasked rebel fighters kneeling before them with their hands on their heads, the soldier’s rifles trained at the back of their heads. One of Sanovan’s men spoke to him as he approached.

“There were only about ten of them. We killed seven, and here are the rest.”

The soldier prodded one of the captured prisoners. The man remained still, a grim expression on his face.

“Alright, load ‘em up.”

“Lieutenant?”

“What’s the problem.”

“We don’t have room for any prisoners. We got two bodies and three wounded men to take back with us. We can’t leave them here.”

Sanovan was silent for a moment.

“Alright sergeant.”

Sanovan turned and began walking towards his vehicle. Two shots, one occuring slightly before the other, sounded behind him. Sanovan stiffened for a moment as he continued towards the IFV. Two dull thuds followed the shots.

The Imperial infantry force moved out of the town. A crowd of women came out of their homes, while others restrained children from going outside. The women knelt, weeping beside two bodies that now lay in the center of the street, their tears mixing with the blood that pooled in the dust.

"Yes sir, they are disembarking as we speak," the aide replied.
"Good, bring them up toward the battle line, into reserve,"the general ordered.

((OOC: This attack occurred simultaneously to the one on St. Marie))

Saranov (Sorograd), Northern Buchiana

The town was empty. Completely and utterly deserted. The wind whipped through the muddy streets, and whistled over rooftops. They were frightened, as they sat huddled there, in their corners, in their homes, in their town that was now a military target.

There were a few soldiers there, in that ghost town that was still breathing. They too waited, hiding in houses, and laying flat on rooftops.

In the distance, following the winding Darua river, the Imperial army was moving. The Praetorians rode in the IFVs and clung to the sides of GT-107s. The treads shook the Earth, and left deep imprints in the mud that bordered the river that was nearly bursting its banks.

The Imperial Praetorians were solemn in attitude and expression. They clutched their XM-8s tightly, not in fear but in anticipation. These men were not the bloodthirsty animals of the provinces. They were professionals. They lived to spill blood and shed it for the Emperor. They were sane, if it rarely showed, they were strong, and they would fight to the last man and give not an ounce of quarter.

Their sabers hung at their waists, or on their backs according to personal preference. These sabers were not mere ornaments, as it had been commonly demonstrated by the Praetorians in many battles. The men longed to stain the steel red at any opportunity. Today would be that opportunity.

The armor moved in first. Across the fields, over the hills and dales. Suddenly, a pillar of fire went into the sky, then another, and yet another. Mines. The rebels had not been foolish. No matter. The Imperial minesweepers moved forward, overtaking the tanks and plowing the road for the armor.

Squadrons of GIF-77s streaked in overhead. The bombs fell as they had so many times before, and like those many times, the town was raked with steel and flame. Homes were destroyed, or caught fire. Civilians ran out into the muddy street, some clutching bleeding wounds. One man held his hands to the open sores that had been his eye sockets. He sank to his knees, screaming, shedding mental tears to replace those which he could not physically produce. He fell forward, bloody face down into the mud.

The Imperial MLRSs were waiting over the ridge. Spread out, some in the center of fields, others on hill crests, they opened up, bringing the devil’s rain.

http://www.tnarmyguard.com/9_images/6-GuardPic/missile_launcher/misslelchr1.jpg

The town was raked with fire, as the rockets slammed into structures. Buildings collapsed, spraying dust and rubble into the air and down the streets, now cluttered with screaming civilians.

A second group of tanks appeared over a hill to the north. They made straight for the town as the IFVs and armor from the first group moved in.

The tanks moved into the streets. Scattered fire from AK-74s echoed amid the ruined streets of the city. A rocket streaked towards an Imperial tank. It pierced the armor and detonated, causing the tank to do a bizarre sort of hop, before the explosion propelled the hatches upward. The smoking hulk burned, as soldiers jumped from the sides of the other tanks, and went to work.

The rifles blazed, bullets cutting through windows to take down concealed rebel fighters. The turrets swiveled and the cannon blazed. The streets were full of soldiers, both Imperial and rebel, scrambling about to slaughter their enemies in bloody combat. Homes became fortresses, temporarily at least, until a well placed shell left them in ruins.

So the battle of Saranov raged, until long into the evening, when the Imperial Praetorians, and their tanks invincible, managed to best the ragged rebel fighters, left only as a deterrent.

It was dark when the imperial flag was raised high above the town, the tanks moving through the rubble covered streets, the soldiers on patrol, passing women who wept over slumped forms.

His long fingers steepled, while his face that looked similar to actor Peter Cushing's, unemotional, watched, blinking occassionly, his black haired head unmoving the events that were taking place in the Generic Empire's suppression of people that declared independence from Generic on the television screen before him. The sound was on mute.

The Supreme Lord Chancellor was not alone. He was surrounded by a circle aides who stood around the edges of the room, all eyes on him. He ignored them as if they were not there. They knew not to speak unless spoken to. Even coughs and sneezes had to be suppressed. The man on the throne must have silence.

Finally he spoke, not taking his eyes of the TV screen.

"Priest for War" he said, his voice resonant, but cold and calm.

A man in white robes stepped forward hurriedly from the circle, but kept a distance from the man in the throne.

"Yes, Supreme Over Lord Chancellor" he said timidly, head bowed.

"Typewriter" The Supreme Over Lord Chancellor said in a authoritive, but still calm tone. His eyes still stayed on the TV screen. A town was on fire.

The Priest for War hurried over to one of the many typewriters that were on tables circling the room, and seated himself on a stool. He prepared to type what the Supreme Over Lord Chancellor said.

We have heard about your conflict that is ongoing with interest.

I wish to send around 200 troops via transport plane to an area of your choosing, in the region that has declared independence. I feel the troops would be suited to an area of small villages and hamlets near an airstrip that has been secured by your forces, where resistance should be light, but enough for the soldiers to gain combat experience. The soldiers will be happy to fight alone as their own unit, this will make it better or them to become accustomed to warfare as their own entity.

This will be short term only, and after a small period of fighting, the soldiers will return to the plane and leave.

The town of St. Marie is currently under the empire's control, and so the fighting there has concluded. Several miles to the east, however, there is still a somewhat significant rebel presence. Nothing that your force cannot handle, but still meat for your troops to cut their teeth on. You may use the airfield outside of St. Marie, and deploy your men to this sector. As you have been given autonomous operational status, you may operate free from the scrutiny of Imperial Military High Command.

(OOC: OK )

The Zerbian transport plane landed with a bump on the airfield just outside of St. Marie. There was 200 armed men in the plane, and Commander Zorkovich was quite sure he was not the only one gritting teeth when the bump of the landing came.

He looked round at the men, all armed with AK-47's, or Dragunov Sniper rifles, flamethrowers or RPGs. faces hard, but young.

My boys, he thought, my men, my soldiers!

He looked at them with a swell of pride, they in their black uniforms and black Pith Helmets.

Formidable, he thought again.

Commander Zorkovich had been briefed that the enemy would be light in number and in force but go in for the overkill....and kill.

Zorkovich mentally shook himself and stood up as the plane began to roll to a halt.

"Listen my soldiers!" Zorkovich shouted above the din of the plane's engine. "You know what the supreme over lord chancellor and our nation of Zerbia calls for! Proof that we can fight gallantly, and formidabbly for Zerbia when the time comes! This is our chance to prove ourselves we can fight! We shall kill all who oppose us on the battlefied we shall step on!"

He paused for breath. Stone cold eyes from beneath the 199 men stared back at him from the pith helmets they wore. They're tense he thought, they are ready

"For the Republic! For Zerbia! For The Supreme Over Lord Chancellor!" Commander Zorkovich bellowed at his men, staring up at the roof of the plane.

"For the Republic! For Zerbia! For The Supreme Over Lord Chancellor!" 199 men shouted back in unison in an excited, urgent tone.

Zorkovich smiled at his men as the plane stopped, and some smiled back, their cold, near dead (Yes! That was it! Dead eyes! He thought) eyes staring.

By Zerbia, Zorkovich thought with a chill. He would hate to be facing these fine bastards in battle.

The Plane hatch opened.

here we go.....

"20 Point, 179 East Go!" Zorkovich screamed.

20 Zerbians disembarked into the cool night, guns aimed, and lay down on the tarmac, guns aimed at all corners to cover all areas of the airfield around the plane, the remaining men ran from the plane, weapons ready, pointed in all directions.

"East!" Zorkovich said more quietly.

The Zerbian Force did not wait for a welcoming commitee, they charged East, as briefed.

Twenty Miles East of St. Marie

Private Sergei Ilchev peered through the window of the MI-24, watching the rain soaked fields passing below him and the smoke pillars rising above the tree line. He looked down at his rifle, and ran his fingers over the black steel. He pulled the clip, and checked it, as he had been doing obsessively for the past ten minutes.

“Relax Sergei. You’ll wear the damn thing out.”

Sergei chuckled. The other man dropped the butt of a cigarette onto the steel floor, and crushed it with his boot, before checking his own ammo.

“They’re only rebels. Nothing to worry about.”

The helicopter was one of ten en route to a large supply depot located twenty five miles east of the town of St. Marie. It was the last depot in the St. Marie area that was still being held by the Buchianan resistance.

A co-pilot called back to the men.

“ETA three minutes!”

An officer pushed himself to a sitting position in the transport area of the chopper. He addressed his men.

“Alright boys, keep it quick and clean, and this’ll be over in thirty minutes.”

The chopper moved in. The fenced in, open area came into view over the tree line. There were mountains of crates piled about the depot, and the warehouses stood tall in the grey sky. The aircraft began to descend, moving as close to the trees as possible, until the forest dropped out from below them altogether.

“Get ready!”

The rebel soldiers on the ground scrambled. They fired at he approaching choppers. Rifle rounds began to clink as they hit the steel fuselage of the helicopters. The metal birds opened fire. The guns rotated as they unleashed hell. The choppers descended further, barely clearing the fence.

They touched down, and the soldiers jumped onto the ground. The choppers ascended to provide cover. Private Ilchev looked quickly from side to side, before charging after his commanding officer, towards a large warehouse. A man beside him stopped short, and fell to the ground, a bullet in the side of his head.

Ilchev continued, diving behind a wall, along with three others. He put his back against the building, and caught his breath, before leaning around the corner and opening up on a man who fired wildly with an AK-47.

The whir of the helicopter blades continued, mingling with the incessant sounds of the chainguns, cutting away at rebel soldiers. A piercing shriek cut the monotony. Private Ilchev looked up, to see a white trail streak straight into the cockpit of an MI-24. The fireball consumed the chopper, and it fell to earth like a rock.

Ilchev’s commanding officer, a certain Captain Mikhail Greghov, rolled out from cover, and unloaded on a man with a now empty rocket launcher. The man fell, three bullets in his chest, and one in his left eye.

The rumbling of treads became audible, and from behind a warehouse rolled a ZSU. The turret swiveled, and the cannon began to rotate. The bullets ripped through another MI-24, shredding it. The dead bird writhed in the air, spinning wildly as its tail broke away. Blood spattered the front of the cockpit, and the pilot pulled his hands away from his open chest.

The helicopter smashed into the roof of a nearby warehouse.

“Fuck! Krschka, you and ilchev take that thing out!”

A man with a Predator strapped to his back ran out from cover and began to charge towards a low wall. Ilchev followed him. A cloud of dust appeared around the first man, and he fell to the ground. Ilchev aimed his weapon, and fired several rounds into a man who peered from around a corner.

Ilchev ran to the body, and grabbed the anti-tank weapon. He crouched behind the low wall, and took aim at the still firing ZSU. The rocket streaked forward, smashing into the side of the armored vehicle. The crumpled steel mass burned brightly. Inside, the corpses of the crew were scorched to ash in a private crematory.

The helicopters wheeled about, turning to re-enter the combat zone, and resume covering the infantry. The squads moved into the warehouses. Inside, the scene was chaos. The buildings were pitch black, and Buchianan soldiers made an easy job of picking off Imperial troops as they entered.

Captain Greghov leaned up against a crate of ammunition.

“Who did we lose?”

“I saw them take out Kruska and Silsyich. I don’t know where the rest of our guys are.”

“Shit. Alright, pull out. We’ll get the choppers to take these things out.”

The squads withdrew. The MI-24s moved into position, and rockets streaked towards the warehouse buildings. The flames caused the ammo to explode, which annihilated the storehouses entirely. Flaming chunks of metal and concrete slammed into the ground, as the roof was blown clean off one of the buildings. Imperial soldiers took cover against the rubble.

As the dust cleared, and the smoke billowed into the skies, twenty Imperial soldiers lay dead, along an undetermined number of rebels. The survivors and the wounded loaded themselves onto the choppers to make way for a fresh batch of soldiers who would secure the destroyed depot.

IC:

Commander Zorkovich and his men crept up and crawled on either side of country road bordered by hedgerows, Zorkovich led the way, and rounded a bend, crouch walking. In the far distance, Zorkovich could see some houses that looked to be part of a village of some kind.

It was morning, they had been travelling East at night thanks to the aid of a compass, and then had rested up in a field, now it was morning.

Zorkovich quickly scrabbled back round the corner "Halt!" He hissed, aware a loud voice might be carried by the wind.

The Zerbian force stopped in it's tracks, some crouched, some lying on their stomachs where they had been crawling.

"Zerkovich!" Commander Zorkovich said quietly to a soldier to his left carrying a Dragunov Sniper rifle, "look through the lens, and poke the gun through the hedge. Tell us what you see."

Zerkovich looked through the sniper rifle lens, and adjusted the distance range.

10 seconds passed, then:

"Well?!" Zorkovich hissed impatiently.

"A village, Commander Zorkovich. There is a house facing us, one window at top level. Enemy sniper positioned, facing the lane around corner"

Zorkovich frowned. Why had he not been shot? Not seen? He sweated. The sniper must be one blind, incompetent bastard. "Can you take him, Zerkovich?"

Zerkovich smiled, his eye still to the sniper lens, finger on trigger. "Commander Zorkovich, does a Zerbian Bear shit in the Zerbian Woods?"

He pulled the trigger, the rifle recoiling in his hands, the loud gunshot resonated across the countryside.

"Need I say I got him sir?" Zerkovich said, not looking up, eye still to scope.

Zorkovich leant over to Zerkovich's left ear.

"Don't be a smart arse" Commander Zorkovich growled.

Zerkovich nodded, his smile dissapearing. "Yes Commander Zorkovich"

And then the village came alive with resistance.

The town Of Borgosie laid nestled in a clearing in the forest. This was a rebel stronghold in teh sense of military production of weapons and people. Not too many defenses held the town together but enough to deter a small force. But not the Bormans.

B-29 Spirits acompanied by GIF-77s (I can use these, right?) flew over the sleepy town. Before they knew what was happening barracks and factories were gone. Smoke rose as explosions ripped through the town. As AA defences began to hum to life artillery rained hell on them. Howitzers, tanks, and more removed as many AA defences as possible. Planes continues to fly over head releasing varying forms of ordinance. Finaly the Armor and INfantry moved.

The men were snug inside the Bhalks, BGPs, Cd 101.5s, and CaDs. The tanks literraly ran over the sandbags and machine guns along with those manning them. Different colums of Taks went down different streets firing shells into every building as they went. When they neared teh heart of the city cannons opened up and rebels appeared everywhere. RPGs slammed against CaDs, bouncing off harmlessly. But not so with the Bhalks. Some exploded as they fired their APG2. Then doors slammed open as Dinosaurs charged out. Their helmets were sealed and their oxygen tanks were giving them the air they needed.

M60 and XM8 fire began to drop the rebels. Grenades went off here and there. Massive expolsions rocketed the city as teh major defences were removed. When most of the men were out the Tanks contined onward. At the center the remaining men charged out and began to combat the awakening resistance. Houses that showed any sign of resistance were destroyed.

Those that were not particularly hostile had doors kicked in and Dinosuars searched. Bodies littered the streets as the carnage and combat raged. Now widowed women wept over slumped bodies. Though they quickly moved to maek way for the tanks then further decimated the corpses of their loved ones.

After several hours Dinosaurs were able to walk the streets without gunfire. Sympathizers were rounded up and shot while all houses were searched. Imperial bodies were buired in proper places while all other corpses were put in one vast grave. Most of this work was done by the remainig citizens.

THe leader of the men there walked into the bell tower. As he ascended the staircase he became more cautious. When he came to the top he founf that more than half of the roof housing the bell had fallen down below, along with the bell. The flagpole that had graced thtop had falen off and gotten caught on some of the remains of the floor. It hung slightly horizontally and the commander was just able to reachit. He brought in and burned the rebel flag and replaced it with one of Generic Empire.

"Sir."

"Yes?"

"Come to the belltower."

Colonel Pilanstone ook his eye away from the sniper rifle.

"How many men do we have here?"

"About a thousand and a half."

"How many would you say are coming?"

"Around two thousand."

The scope did not lie. In the distacne a cloud of dirt revealed the convoy of transport jeeps and t-80 tanks. They proudly flew the rebel flag.

"Get them ready, now."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dinosuars took positions in the bunkers and behind sandbags that had been erected yesterday. Machine guns were manned, cannons aimed, and more.

Tanks and Howitzers were in firing positions and a sniper was in every building that still stood. But this did nto deter the rebels.

As the convoy came nearer it broke from two colums into two sparsed rows. Now shots couldn't be randomly fired and hit several enemies. Aim had to be taken.

As the enemy came in range the howitzers opened up and the tanks shot forward shells. Those snipers who could get a shot took it.

It looked as if the soldiers would lose hopelessly, then planes came from the airstrip nearby and rained hell on the convoy. AA defences began to fire as the number of planes being sent dwindled. Eventually the planes stopped but not after taking many enemies out.

The jeeps accelerated at top speed towards the soldiers. Almost all had drivers killed or wheels popped. The rebels flew out and began to fire on teh entrenched soldiers.

T-80s fired shells at the guns and trenches. But it didn't last long untill Borman tanks found and decimated them.

Eventually the rebels were able to push forward to the soldiers. The Dinosuars drew steel and began to hack away at teh rebels.

The rebels realized they couldn't come anywhere near competing with the Dinosaurs in ahdn to hand and began to retreat.

Of the 300 that lived to be part of the retreat, only 13 got away.

<57 miles south of Borgosie, 03:12AM>

Twelve dark shapes swept over the treetops, barely two hundred feet above the ground. NIRTSSAT footage clearly showed the Borman Empire troops in their defensive positions within the city. Designating each aircraft individual targets, the flight leader then ordered the formation to spread out, split into combat groups, and climb slowly to five hundred feet, launch height.

When they were just fifty miles from the city, the aircraft launched. Ten of the twelve launched twelve Wolverine cruise missiles each. Another launched twelve Python UHARM anti-radiation missiles, and the final one launched just two missiles, Wolverine-X special-mission cruise missiles, also known as Screamers.

The Pythons raced ahead of the entire flight, seeking out any active radars in or near the city. At speeds close to Mach 4, the missiles would arrive without any warning, and before anyone could react to them. Behind them, one hundred and twenty standard Wolverines began to guide in on their targets at the speed of sound. Each Wolverine held a variety of bomblets in three seperate bays along the length of the missiles. Two bays held anti-personell mines, and the third carried six semi-active guided anti-armour sub-munitions (SAGAASMs). Each SAGAASM was capable of firing a molten copper slug through the top armour of a tank or fighting vehicle, where it would shred the interior, guaranteeing the destruction of said AFV.

The last two missiles, the Screamers, were the key to the whole operation. Each flew on a different course for a few minutes before activating. All of a sudden, instead of a one or two possible intermittent contacts from low-flying stealth bombers, hundreds of false radar targets were displayed on any radar screen within two hundred miles. It would appear that a massive attack formation was closing on the city, having appeared from nowhere.

Their missiles launched, the bombers began a high-speed run towards international airspace, running low and fast.

The Hannari shamans had seen it and the Hannari had gone. Behind the flight, a storm began to brew. But it would never catch them. With only one aircraft carrying any significant weight in weapons, the bombers were really moving. They were clear of the land, and rapidly getting the hell out of Dodge.

The SS Valley Mistress ploughed through another wave. To all extent and purposes, she was a salvage ship. From the outside, apart from three containers on her deck and a large set of doors in the middle of the helipad, she looked like a run-down, well-used vessel. Inside, she was much different. Each of the containers housed massive computer banks and information receivers. Huge satellite radio antennae on the upper decks recieved transmissions from anyone operating a radio nearby, as well as data from the ever-present NIRTSSATs.

Below decks, she carried a single AV-32 armed transport VTOL, stored near to a large dive pool, capable of holding rescue vehicles, and if needs be, ditching the VTOL. Also based nearby was a vast armoury for he compliment of NSOC commandos. Phased out by the military, there were now only a handful of the elite commandos left, barely a hundred in all. Now after a week of dormanct the HQ had sprung to life

"Was there any rebel activity reported down there prior to this mission."

"Well yes sir, we'd heard rumors of a muster in that area and we sent bravo-2 to check it out and now they've vanished."

"Allright, I guess were certain now, send out Easy Company, they can handle those worthless rebs."

After viewing the carnage that aircraft had wrought on the Borman forces the whole collum paused and took shelter under a copse of trees. A call was sent out to HQ and about an hour later 4 Avenger SAM system (stinger) equipped Humvees roared up the road and joined Easy company. The vehicles rolled out again along the road to Billave.

The lead Abrams was doing over 40 mph when it saw the roadblock ahead. Peices of fallen timber and barbed wire had been stretched across the width of the road. It was manned by a group of poorly dressed men, toting Ak-74's.

The driver smiled as he gunned the engine and quikcly reached 55 mph. The main gun fired, slowing the tank momentarily as it's shell rocket through the air and exploded in the mass of terrified men. Body parts and shattered wood flew through the air as the Abrams blasted through the roadblock, catching three men under its metal treads. The other two Abrams raced through, completeting the destruction.

The rest of the convoy moved through at a little slower pace but managed to slow down enough to decapitate a fleeing rebel with a 105mm shell.

As the convoy continued to move on fire began coming from the passing farmhouses and the gunners of the Strykers and Abrams amused themselves by blowing apart these flimsy wooden structures. It became a little bit of a contest to see which gunner could hit the farmhouse first.

The collum closed in on Billava, leaving the smoking remains of farms and barns in their wake.

How many troops would you like me to send, GE? And what's your nation's climate like?

General Ivanov looked at the map that sat on the table in a St. Marie Hotel Lobby that had become the new headquarters of the Imperial High Command in this operation. He was surrounded by other officers.

"General, the attack was a complete success. In the west, the rebels are left without supplies. Their lines have crumbled. Many have simply laid down their empty weapons, and abandoned their posts, or surrendered to our forces. In the north, Sorograd is under our control, and so is her airport. The northern portion of the province is effectively sealed off."

"Excellent. The first stage is complete. Now, we must begin part two. As you are aware, the terrain from here until Deskograd is easy, and largely flat. Intelligence reports and sattelite photos show that there is also no significant rebel presence until we near Deskograd and her meridian.

We can overrun this area quickly, and firmly establish ourselves for the eventual offensive on the stronghold at that city. Deskograd will not be an easy fight. she is a fortress, and she is located right on top of the two most important rivers in Buchiana, the Deska and the Ruek. The rebels will fight dearly to control this location, or else lose their hold on everything until the capital.

I know, however, that our men are up to the task. The Imperial Praetorians do not lose, and will fight with the ferocity of wild beasts to destroy the rebellion. Gentlemen, i have a good feeling that by Christmas, we shall be dining in New Bucharest."

The assembled officers laughed. Elsewhere, the wheels of war began to turn. The Imperial Military Command was bringing in fresh troops to support the overrunning of the west, in preparation for the offensive on Deskograd.

((OOC: I suppose between 10 and 30 thousand is alright, and right now, as it is November in buchiana, the climate is cold, rainy, and occasionally snow.))

((OOC: Okay, thanks))

Thick torrents of rain cascaded from the heavens in such thick sheets that they distorted everything outside the windows nearly to the point of invisibility. Helicopter propellers buffeted the frigid air, as hundreds of helicopters, each filled to the capacity with dozens of young, tough, highly ambitious, fiercely patriotic, and battle-hardened troops, flew through the dark night toward Generia. Had the pilots not been the consummate fliers they were, the helicopters would have succumbed to the storm and crashed and burned long ago. That they hadn't was nothing short of miraculous.
One of the pilots picked up his radio and contacted the RB military base in Generia. "Clear the runway, we're preparing to land, over."
Over the radio, he heard a tinny, staticky voice reply, "Roger that. Over."
"Much obliged. Over and out."
Minutes later, the helicopters slowly descended to the ground and landed. Soldiers disembarked from them by the thousands, toting machine guns, chanting patriotic slogans, and eager to shed blood in honor of Roach-Busters and its glorious ally, Generia.
