History is just one chain reaction. One event in the past, no matter how insignificant triggers another of either minimal or wide reaching significance. Take The wars in europe in the last decades before the 20th century, for example, they were the reason for the alliances that led to WWI.
In my vision, Napoleon III's ushering of Austria and Italy to help in the war with German states, works, thus Prussia is defeated and the threat posed by them is elimated. With Austria on Frence's side, that means that Britain, Russia, and Serbia don't have need to form a counter alliance. Which means that the assination of Austria's Heir only means that Austria-Hungary, and Serbia go to war, with the end result being that Bosnia becomes an intepentent nation. The Ottoman Empire still exists, only it's grown even weaker, and lost Palistine, which became arab because The threat of Prussia was elimanated in the war with france, so Hitler never came to power.
Now we come to the year 1945. The tech level is that of 1940, no jets, no rockets. Tensions are rising again because Russia is being a bully and presuering smaller nations to hand over land...for some odd reason. They are still under control of The Czars, with no communist oppisition, Czar Alexander's son reformed the Russian system, eliminating the Serfs, not literally, but turning them into free citizens. Anyhow, Russia is pressuring smaller nations for land, to make sure that that didnt heppen to them, Austria, Italy and Turkey formed a mutual defense alliance, with Belgium, Spain, France and England doing the same.
Not all rules are finished yet, but its worth to sign-up already!
