Taldaan Arms Loggerhead LPH
http://www.naval-technology.com/projects/ocean/ocean1.html
The primary role of the Loggerhead is to achieve the rapid landing of an assault force by helicopter.
DESIGN
The ship carries a crew of 280, an aircrew of 226 and 1200 marines. An additional 300 marines could be accommodated in a short-term emergency. The Loggerhead is capable of transporting and sustaining an embarked military force of up to 800 men equipped with artillery, vehicles and stores. The ship has capacity for 42 vehicles but is not designed to land heavy tanks. There are four LCVP Mk 5 vehicle/personnel landing craft on davits.
It has a displacement of 23,200 tons fully loaded. It is 215m long, 41.4m wide
AIRCRAFT
The ship has full facilities for fifteen TA Spirit or similar, eight TA Sea Ghost or similar helicopters, and two heavy lifter helicopters, and landing and refuelling facilities suitable for most types. The flight deck is 175m long and 38.6m wide, and there are three aircraft lifts.
COMMAND SYSTEMS
Loggerheads are equipped with the BAE SYSTEMS ADAWS 2000 combat data system, Link 11, 14 and 16 communications, an Astrium (formerly Matra Marconi) SATCOM 1D satellite communications system, and a Taldaan IntelNet computer link. The ADAWS 2000 combat data system is also installed.
WEAPONS
The weapon systems include two twin 30mm guns together with two Raytheon/General Dynamics Phalanx Mk 15 close-in weapon systems. It also has one small missile launcher battery capable of firing anti-ship or shore attack missiles.
COUNTERMEASURES
The Loggerhead carries an extensive array of both buoy mounted and aerial decoys and their respective launchers. Also fitted is the Thales Type 675(2) ship-borne jammer, which has two antenna mounts to provide 360° azimuth coverage. Maximum elevation is 50° and the range is 500km.
The Loggerhead is also fitted with an Aegis system fitted to the Phalanx Mark 15 close-in weapons systems.
SENSORS
The Loggerhead is equipped with the BAE SYSTEMS Type 996 air and surface search radar. Surface search and aircraft control radar is provided by two Kelvin Hughes Type 1007 systems. It also carries both active and passive sonar, and infra-red detection systems.
PROPULSION
Propulsion is provided by two Taldaan Arms Medium Hydrogen Propulsion Units, rated at 25,000hp, with two independent shafts and a five-bladed fixed-pitch propeller. The maximum speed is 28 knots and the range is 8,000 miles.
Price: $380 million
Taldaan Arms Spirit Transport Helicopter
http://avia.russian.ee/vertigo/foto/ka-29.jpg
The mission of this helicopter is to land navy and infantry units with armament from combatant ships, ensure fire support for seaborne assault troops, ferry personnel and cargo from ship bases, and supply vessels to combatant ships.
STRUCTURAL DESIGN
The helicopter is fitted with a coaxial main rotor with folding blades. The blades are fitted with an electric thermal de-icing system. A new design of all plastic rotor blades, which can sustain hits from 30mm shells, has been installed on the. The aerodynamic and design parameters allow the helicopters to be stowed in small shipborne hangars. The landing gear provides for safe take-off and landing on rocking ship decks. Corrosion-resistant materials have been used in the construction to ensure normal operation in active sea environments. The helicopter is fitted with ballonet flotation devices for emergency landing on water.
ENGINES
Like all other Taldaani military vehicles, the Spirit is hydrogen powered. It can fly at up to 200 km/h, sideways and backwards at 75 km/h, and turn at 45 degrees per second.
MISSION SYSTEMS
The helicopter is equipped with a radar system for navigation. The helicopter also has a magnetic anomaly detector (MAD) and an airborne receiver to detect and guide the helicopter towards sonar buoy radio transmissions. The Spirit also has an IFF (interrogation friend or foe) system.
WEAPON SYSTEMS
The helicopter can be fitted with four weapon suspension stations. According to the mission requirements, the helicopter can be armed with rockets, bombs and machine gun pods mounted on the weapon pylons on both sides of the fuselage. Alternatively, tanks or container pods can be carried. Bombs and containers can be also arranged in the helicopter's torpedo bay. The helicopter is fitted with a 7.62mm flexibly mounted machine gun with 1,800 cartridges.
MISSION SYSTEMS AND EQUIPMENT
The Spirit can be re-equipped while on the assembly line, and transport and combat versions can be produced during assembly at the manufacturing plant, while the variants can also be reciprocally changed in the field.
The cargo cabin accommodates 20 armed troops, or five stretcher patients and eight seated casualties with one medical attendant, or at least 2.3 tons of cargo.
A number of measures are taken to increase combat survivability, including armour protection.
Price: $21 million
Taldaan Arms Sea Shadow Naval Helicopter
http://www.naval-technology.com/projects/lynx/lynx3.html
The Sea Shadow is a multi-role naval helicopter for anti-surface warfare, anti-submarine warfare, search and rescue and utility operations.
DESIGN
The Sea Shadow airframe is constructed of composite and light alloy. The non-retractable tricycle-type landing gear is designed for the helicopter to operate from small ships in Sea State 6 and features oleo-pneumatic struts which absorb the shock of a 6ft/s descent rate. A hydraulically operated harpoon deck lock securing system secures the helicopter to the deck. The main wheels can be toed out allowing the aircraft to turn into the wind while the decklock harpoon remains engaged. This removes the need for the ship to change course.
A new design of all plastic rotor blades, which can sustain hits from 30mm shells, has been installed on the Sea Shadow.
The cabin space of approximately 5.2m³ can accommodate up to nine troops. Up to 1,360kg of cargo can be underslung from an external cargo hook for ship-to-shore and ship-to-ship replenishment.
WEAPONS
Sea Shadow can carry a range of depth charges, and torpedoes, including the Mark 44, Mark 46, the A244S and the Stingray torpedoes.
It also carries up to six light anti-ship missiles (Penguin, Sea Skua) and mounts a 20mm cannon
SENSORS
Thermal Imaging
360 degree radar
FLIR Systems 2000HP and Safire FLIR have also been fitted to the Sea Shadow.
The Sea Shadow is equipped with active dipping sonar. The operation of the dipping sonar is by a hydraulically powered winch and the automatic flight control system includes a cable hover mode control. The helicopter can be equipped with a magnetic anomaly detector.
It may also be fitted with a range of surveillance equipment including reconnaissance pods and reconnaissance cameras.
POWER
As always, hydrogen powered. Can fly at up to 275 km/h forwards, and 105 km/h sideways and backwards.
Price: $19 million
