A New Technological Era of War

Kelonian States

After the Government of Kelonia were embarrassed by documents made public this week that showed money has been being funnelled for several years into a project codenamed 'Virgil', they have decided to make public their basic plans. Project Virgil is a long-term initiative to ensure every single piece of Kelonian military force, from battlegroups down to individual soldiers, are networked in such a way that wars will be able to be plotted with pinpoint accuracy based on perfectly-detailed results. The government has stated that only one project is currently any more than a laboratory experiment, and that project is the HALO Combat System - the system to bring synergy between man and gun like never before.

The HALO Combat System
As the first step in Project Virgil, the Kelonian military's Advanced Combat Initiative to network everything the army has, from the command bunkers to the aircraft carriers to the individual soldiers and their weapons, the HALO system is being tried out by several VQB companies operating in and around Gurovna and troubled areas of Daylan Masyana (both southern provinces of Kelonia troubled by seperatists). It is a system that blends a soldier and his weapon as one. The name 'HALO' comes from the ring of electronics a soldier equipped with the system has around the base of his helmet - located there because not only is it in a convenient place to connect the eyepiece into, but the average soldier is more likely to protect his head (and therefore the equipment) from any harm he may see coming. The system itself is brilliant in it's simplicity - on his hands, the soldier wears special gloves covered with sensors, and the weapon has information nodes built into it. These convey data such as bullets left in the magazine, barrel temperature, etc, and also, thanks to the infra-red rangefinder, the location of and the soldier's distance from any hidden enemy. A similar rangefinder is also located on the side of the helmet, and when the soldier is facing away from the enemy, the edge of the eyepiece shows red, and when the soldier is facing the enemy directly, the crosshair targetter on it shows red instead. In short, it makes it very much like a 'First Person Shooter' - all the information you want on your status and the position of your enemy, without having to take your attention off anything.

(in case you're wondering, this is all possible now, therefore this is, at most, post-modern tech, but I'd call it just plain modern. Also, the glove is *covered* in tiny, interconnected receivers that are totally independant of each other, so even if the glove gets ripped it will still work so long as the HALO system is on and part of it is touching the weapon).

Also, this isn't for sale, I'm just looking for feedback - I'll post more info tomorrow, but right now I'm tipsy and it's 5AM so I'm going to bed. Night all.
