Mekanta

-Somewhere in the Eigth Circle of the Mekantan Nexus
Adjuctant smiled as she sat back against a crystal wall, watching her workers sift through the ruins in the eigth circle of Mekanta.
She had spend what...? Twelve... No... Twenty three Jazuras down here. She stretched and looked up at the teal sky, smiling. A mere blink of an eye to a Mekantan, especially given the reletive temporal expansion compared to Truespace.
She knew the sun in the sky wasn't a real star, just an energy leak made to look like a star in the sky. But she didn't care. It was warm. It felt good. And that was all that mattered.
She closed her eyes and sank lower, enjoying the feeling of the sun and the soothing background noise of the exploration of the ruins. Life was good... and as sleep overtook her, she had no idea that her brother was feeling the exact opposite.
-Command Center, Sixth Circle, Sixth Ring, Sixth Sphere of the Nexus
"You're frelling kidding me..." Axis said, switching to speaking Narakan. (English)
"<To speak, of seriousness and importance.>" X1 replied, looking back at Axis.
His head hurt because some tak'assh Organic had the bright idea to try to drag a desk across the floor and he was still recovering from the high pitched shriek, the rest of his body hurt because it was too goddamn cold thanks to that same idiot, and to make matters worse now THIS was happening.
Axis looked up at the situation report screen, his right eye visibly ticking...
The "leader" of the Mekantan Grand Triumvirate growled, baring his teeth. Axis, when in a bad mood, was a bad person to anger... "Rebels... Frelling rebels... Oh, I'm going to enjoy gutting each and every one of them personally..."
-Somewhere on the Fifth Ring of the Fourth Circle
Oralis held his arms open, tens of thousands of Mekantans in the arena in front of him, wanting to hear him speak.
He just smiled broadly, thier cheers washing him with feelings of praise and respect. His lieutenants stood to his sides, back away from the podium. But thier presence, thier smiling faces, reinforced the image of a kind leader.
The soon-to-be leader of Mekanta. The New Mekanta...
The Republic of Mekanta...
"I speak..."
He spoke in his normal, soft tone, but the crystals in the podium sent a telepathic wave over the crowd, silencing them as they heard him begin the speech they all waited for.
"We grow ever stronger, friends. Ever stronger against the tyranny of the Grand Triumvirate. Ever stronger in our beliefs of equality for all sentients. Ever stronger in the knowlage that our cause is just."
He pointed to the crowd, his warm smile filling them with hope.
"All of us, are vital. You all even more so. You all see through Mekanta's lies and propaganda of racial superiority. We Mekantans are no better and no worse than the Humans. Why must one suffer for the other? Why must the Empire seek the eradication of the Feran Race? Why?"
He slammed his fist down on the podium, the entire crowd jumping slightly at the outburst from thier normally passive leader.
"Because the Grand Triumvirate is EVIL. They are darkness incarnate. Their policies of death serve no purpose but to harm others. That, friends, is what we must stop. That is what we must fight."
He dropped his head, then looked up. Each member of the crowd got the impression he was looking right at them.
"That... Is what I am willing to lay my life on the line for. To stop the opression and evil of the Steel Imperium, and reforge Mekanta. To create a Mekanta built on peace and freedom, not evil and death."
"... And how many of you are with me?"
The cheer sent up by the crowd was all Oralis needed. He had his army. He had his generals. Thanks to Karax, he had his weapons. Now all he needed was to make the first move. He smiled, and his voice boomed, filled with confidence.
"THE PEOPLE OF MEKANTA HAVE SPOKEN!! WE ATTACK!!"
