Vacancies on embassy row
Callisdrun
25-09-2004, 05:54
Due to other concerns, (wars, crises, etc.) Callisdrun has unfortunately neglected to establish itself in the international community, well, formally that is.
We are pleased to announce that this is no longer the case, and that we are eager to accept the embassies of foreign nations in the capital city of Callisdrin, and/or consulates in Drun. Be advised that you'll want a good heating system, as Callisdrun is extremely cold.
Embassies/Consulates will be used to establish alliances, trade agreements and other cooperative arrangements between our nations.

The land poses no real problem, just some questions. Does it have to be any particular type of land? And what do you need it for?
The airfield, however, will be tough. There is not much flat ground in Callisdrun, and most of that is taken up by our own military installations. The embassies we do already have (OOC: I've traded embassies with several people when I RPed with them) are very close to the capitol, in Callisdrin.

26-09-2004, 08:13
The land will be used for storing excess materials.
The airfeild wont make much of a difference as most of our vehicles usually dont need a runway to take off from. (OOC: I dont mind if it's near the capital)

We would like to formally express an interest in establishing an Embassy here at some point in the near future.
The Republic of Tessen would be interested in establishing an embassy. We would, of course, off the same in return.

Tessen: Would you like to use 1236 Capitol road for your embassy or have an entirely new building built? 1236 was built in the 16th century and served primarily as Altar Rang's embassy in Callisdrun until that nation was destroyed. It has served mainly as an office building in recent years and has been renovated multiple times. If you choose to use it for your embassy, we will install better heating and lighting systems in preparation.
Resquide: 1329 Capitol road is also available. It has served a variety of functions, and was originally built in the late 1600's. It has had several refurbishments as it served as a political party office building, but that particular political party is now defunct, so it is vacant. A new building can also be constructed.

We would be happy to use the building offered. We are sending Natalie Guenette (profile below) as Ambassador, please inform us if she is unsuitable. Of course we will return the favour and offer your chosen ambassador a suite in our Embassy Complex - we ask nothing but a lack of bodyguards, as our police force has special detachments there constantly and bodyguards would only cause confusion.
Natalie Guenette (diplomat): 32, blonde hair and blue eyes, 140cm, 45kg. Studied political science at the University of Paris. Married to Pierre Guenette (French expat)
Your building offer is satisfactory. We are pleased with the location offer.
Would you be interested in an embassy within our capital city of Milwaukee?
And, do you require a profile of our Tessen Ambassador there in Callisdrun?

Tessen: We are glad that you find the building acceptable. We would like a description of your ambassador as well. An embassy in your capital city sounds promising. What buildings have you available?
Resquide: Your ambassador will certainly stand out among the Callisdrunians (OOC: Callisdrunians are usually dark haired and dark eyed), but she is perfectly acceptable. We would like to know more about your embassy complex.
For all: Here is some basic info on Rear-Admiral Erzsebet Sorvik, our chief diplomat in Callisdrun, now that the regional war is winding to a close-
Sex- Female
Age- 28
Height- 5'4"

Apologies, we have had a beaurocratic mix-up back at home and, as ms Guenette cannot be in two places at once (unlike her name on our endless paperwork), we are instead sending Theresa Belleme, profile below. Please confirm whether you are sending us an ambassador and if so his/her name and time of arrival.
Theresa Belleme (diplomat): 26. Short neat brown hair, blue eyes, average height. Very good at hiding her true feelings for political purposes. Author of The Woman in the Diplomatic Field and several essays on similar topics. Served in the Resquiden Embassy Complex in Esvanadene City for five years after graduating from high-school and Resquide’s Political Academy in Rifhenneme. Single (very dedicated to her work), most of her friendships are with academics and very few with political colleagues, these including Samuel Ferrene, who was friends with her older brother before his untimely death, and Dominic Strehevve, who she met at the Political Academy and enjoys arguing with. Former Ambassador to Decisive Action.

Ambassador: Bente Katarindatter is currently attending a conference (in Decisive Action), but will soon be available for duty (provided she returns alive). She is usually described as charming, though one must not be surprised by her appearance, as she is fairly typical in Callisdrun. Like most of the diplomats, she was in the Navy. She is a good friend of head diplomat Erzsebet Sorvik and is well connected with the various clans in Callisdrun. Do not mind her fangs, she is not dangerous.

IC:
To: the entity of Callisdrun
From: J. W. Gibbs, Consul-General of Weyr
Re: Diplomatic Exchange
The Kingdom of Weyr is interested in creating diplomatic ties with the entity of Callisdrun. A delegation of:
1 Ambassador
1 Diplomatic attaché
1 Commercial attaché
1 Cultural attaché
1 Defense attaché
16 General staff
16 High Guard
2 Magi’i
are standing by for your approval. If possible, we would like to rent or purchase a building/office space to act as our embassy. Barring that, we can also construct our own structure.
Space for your delegation is available within Embassy Tower, where all foreign embassies within Weyr are located. Floors 40, 48-67, and 103-210 are available at this time. The Diplomatic Service provides security, basic services, and secure telecommunications. Furniture, electronics, special services, and any other amenities are provided upon request. The Diplomatic Service pays for all services. It should be noted that security and safety of any foreign delegates is not guaranteed outside of Embassy Tower unless those delegates are accompanies by Diplomatic Service staff.
Embassy Tower is located in our capital city of Wye, a city of approximately 300 million built on the southwestern slopes of Mt. Weyr. We recommend that foreign delegations arrive via Wye International Skyport, where Diplomatic Service officials can meet them.
Any foreign entity can also construct or rent a structure or space outside of Embassy Tower. However, the Kingdom of Weyr cannot be held responsible for the safety of that structure, or for the safety of the persons residing within it. Diplomatic Service can provide limited security for the said structure, but cannot guarantee the integrity of that security. Furthermore, the availability of secure communications, services, and transportation for such a structure or location may be limited.
Weyrean climate is often humid, and almost always extremely hot.
The Kingdom of Weyr has no restrictions on trade, and permits nations to freely buy and sell all goods and substances within its borders. This includes, but is not limited to: weapons, toxic substances, motor vehicles, WMDs, foodstuffs, raw materials, and finished goods. This cannot be restricted or expanded upon by any treaties.
The Kingdom of Weyr does not recognize extraterritoriality. Weyr’s courts will try any foreign delegates or visitors in accordance with Weyrean law.
This includes:
- Trial by an elected jury within seven days of arrest
- A free lawyer, to be given upon request
- Communication with any party, after arrest, via a monitored link
- The ability to sue for personal damages incurred while under arrest
However, foreign delegates are permitted to have their home nation pay for the court fines. It should be noted that Weyrean courts issue sentences that are monetary in nature.
Weyrean law has only three crimes: murder, theft, and malicious manipulation.
Weyr is not interested in military alliances at this time. However, Weyr holds a policy of non-aggression towards all nations.
Sincerely,
Consul-General J. W. Gibbs

To the Kingdom of Weyr: We have several available buildings, they are all old stone buildings in the old style of official Callisdrunian buildings. You will probably want better heating installed, as Callisdrun is eternally frigid. Diplomats have immunity from misdemeanors but not from felonies. Though the political and financial capital of Callisdrun is in the city of Callisdrin, your cultural attache would be best advised to at least set up office in Drun, as that is Callisdrun's cultural hub.
We would like floors 205-210 in your Embassy Tower if that is possible.
Bursar's Office, Diplomatic Service, Tower of Kings
"You did what!?"
"Exothermic crystals, ser. It's very frigid there."
"Sixty thousand Weyrs woth of heating equipment?"
"Yes. But we refused the cooling equipment."
"Well.....fine.....agrh....I want you to clear any more expenses with me before you make out the checks."
"As you say, ser."

Re: Diplomatic Exchange
Thank you. The additional information will be noted. We will establish a formal embassy in the city of Callisdrin. A separate office for cultural affairs will be established in the city of Drun. Funds will be transferred as necessary for purchase of the said structures, and any additional modifications will be brought with the diplomatic shuttle, which will arrive in approximately forty-eight (48) standard Terran hours.
Floors 205 through 210, inclusive, will be prepared for your delegation. We have taken the liberty of installing additional air conditioning/cooling equipment on your floors, since ambient Wye City temperature is approximately 120 degres Farenheit during the summer.
Sincerely,
Consul-General J. W. Gibbs
Xeraph would be honored to establish an embassy in your great nation. If there is none available, we will send our engineers to build one, at our expense.

And what kind of building codes?
Randomea
18-10-2004, 22:52
Randomea would be pleased to exchange ambassadors on the following conditions:
A building is supplied for our use - our budget can not stretch to such expenses.
The territory is decreed belonging to our country. All laws on its grounds are Randomean.
No weapons are to be found on any Randomean territory other than those used by our almost non-existant military and police force.
We will give you exactly the same in reverse, although the building supplied for your embassy will not be new, due to building restrictions. If you need bodyguards, which I doubt as we have no crime on the island, they are permitted transport of guns initially to the embassy, but henceafter the guns may not enter 'Randomean territory.'
It should be noted that Randomea is tropical in climate, unless you want our ambassador to die of one of those diseases found in cold countries that we as a nation are unfortunately vulnerable to, it might be an idea to have extensive heating.

Weyr: Thank you for your consideration. Our ambassador and the accompanying staff will arrive in a week. We highly recommend that your cultural office be located near the University of Callisdrun (at Drun), as the library is simply enormous, and the area around the campus offers a fairly good look at Callisdrunian life.
Xeraph: Yes, this is perfectly acceptable. Currently awaiting renovation is a medieval theatre that we can remodel, if that would suit your delegation.
Randomea: Yes, all perfectly reasonable. We will install an extensive heating system in the building before your ambassador's arrival. We have selected a slightly newer building, early 1900's, neo-classical design. We would also like to open an embassy in your nation (with a juggernaut of an air conditioning system). Our Berserkers (what we call Marines in Callisdrun) will be armed inside our embassy, but will not take their firearms out of the embassy grounds.
Yevon of Spira: Tyr Fendh sounds like a very qualified diplomat, and we would be pleased to have your embassy.
New Deustchland: He will be fine. We have a very old castle building that was Drun's embassy when Callisdrin and Drun were two seperate domains. We will improve the heating, tell us if you need any other additional considerations.
Alexias: The design must be approved by the city government before construction begins. Generally, there are certain architectural styles that they won't allow to be built near the civic center, period (think modern/utilitarian 1940's-1970's type office buildings, as an example). There are certain safety requirements as well, mostly relating to structural strength. That's all. And yes, the land will belong to you.

Tyr is a scholar as well and would be happier arround great works of literature. Also, what is the food like in your nation?

Our ambassador has been chosen, and he goes by the name Ala Tsee. He is accompanied by his wife and two young children, do you have an international school they could attend? They are taking a private tutor with them but it would be nice for them to mix with others of their own age.

Well, there is an international school, but it is run by the University of Callisdrun, in Drun. That is quite a distance from the capital city of Callisdrin. Several of the schools in the capital city have international students.

We were going to give you a plot in the midst of one of the giant goverment housing projects, but I now realize that it may be wiser to put you in one of the richer neighboorhoods,in which are the mansions of the wealthy farm and factory owners(we made them what they are those ungratefull bastards.........*shakes fist*....)

We will do our best to make our embassy at least tasteful (while it will still be castle-esque, it won't be over-the-top as some critics have charged many Callisdrunian buildings to be).

Kesshite has recently opened relations around the world and is interested in establishing a small embassy in Callisdrun.

"For moroii, the vampire you are referring to, drinking of human blood is not merely a cultural tradition but necessary for survival. Most moroii feed from donors, who are usually close friends or lovers. Those who do not stockpile blood through the donor system, which is rather boringly complicated. I don't use it myself. Moroii comprise about 15% of the population. Contrary to popular myth among the ignorant in foreign countries, the royal family is not a moroii clan.
In any case, with your embassy, would you prefer a new plot of land to build on or an older building to refit to use as an embassy?

To Minister Erzsebett Sorvik,
That is fascinating, there are a small number of groups within Kesshite that practice blood drinking but we are doing our best to eliminate all but one. This is do to taking blood from unwilling persons, however.
Our Ambassador and her staff will be fully briefed beforehand on the nature of some of your citizenry, and will made to understand the voluntary nature of the blood drinking. This is still likely to be a sensitive issue to some, so I hope you are understanding of others taking time to become accustomed to these moroii.
We would be pleased with any accommodations you have available already.
