Warships from the Royal Novoslobovian Navy can be seen in Vigton harbour and Royal Novoslobovian Marines now patrol the streets of Port Vigton after the collapse of the Kurassier government yesterday. The Kurassier government fell as forces loyal to Iman John Shihazz (and the his growing religious sect that follows exerpts from the Koran and the Book of Morman) carried out a surprise coup d'etat yesterday. Members of the Kurassier government were either captured or fled as the "Shihazzian Rebels" took control. A government in exile has been established in Novoslobovia.

At a news conference this after, Novoslobovian Chancellor Centurion said that his forces would not stop until the legitimate elected goverment of Kurassier was restored to power. Chancellor Centurion said his Navy has established a blockade of all Kurassier ports and that forces of the Novoslobovian Army and Marines were rapidly advancing towards the Kurassier capital, encountering little resistance from the Shihazzian forces.

Reports are that the Shihazz movement only involves about 5% of the total Kurassier population, and analyst expect that the Iman will not remain in control of the government for very long. Professor Al Wankin, Dean of International Studies at the Royal University of Novoslobovia compares the current situation in Kurassier to revolutionary Iran. "The only difference here is that when the Islamic Revolution began to sweep Iran, a regional military power did not immediately invade in an attempt to restore the Shah."

I am pleased to report that our company continues to advance. Opposing forces are poorly organized, permitting my troops to advance rapidly with few casualties. The 5th Company engaged rebel CobraKov forces near Justinholme at 1530 hrs. The battle lasted until 1610 hrs. Company Intelligence reports that there were 25 enemy dead, 5 wounded with those wounded taken as prisioners; we had no troops killed and 4 wounded. Hospital reports that the wounded can return to service and do not need to be evacuated.

Authorities from the Oppressed Peoples of Scortch reported today that the terrorist cancer infesting Cobrakov is well on the way to being eliminated. A successful test of the new ‘Grushenka’ orbital weapons platform and a massive assault by the 91st Mechanized Airborne Division (the infamous ‘Shrieking Chuppies’) has resulted in the capture of a Cobrakov air base and the detention of an undisclosed number of prisoners.

Military Police Intelligence Directorate spokesman Commissar Ivanna Komonanov stated that early on 24 Sept. satellite reconnaissance confirmed the presence of hostiles infesting a major military facility in rural Cobrakov, apparently with an eye to launching nuclear or chemical strikes on neighboring regimes. “Obviously we had to act quickly,” said Commissar Komonanov, “and so the decision was made to send in the 91st MAD immediately. However, the overwhelming urgency of the situation also provided the perfect opportunity to field-test ‘Grushenka’.”

“The pre-assault bombardment by low-yield tactical neutron warheads from ‘Grushenka’ achieved a high degree of accuracy while keeping collateral damage and environmental contamination within acceptable parameters” the Commissar went on to explain. “Most of the terrorist fanatics were apparently either vaporized or died before our forces arrived. Those who were left offered little resistance and we we able to retake the facility virtually unopposed. We hope that some of the surviving prisoners will live long enough for useful intelligence to be extracted. This is a great day for Scortch!”

When an unidentified reporter asked if the use of orbital atomic weapons near a major population center just to eliminate a small band of rebels was not, perhaps, a bit excessive, Commissar Komonanov replied “Not at all. We had to respond decisively in order to prevent a wider catastrophe, and just maybe the next gang of free-thinking malcontents will think twice before they so much as look at us funny. Besides, you don’t blow billions of Chupys on orbital weapons and not use them.” The reporter has not been seen since.

At this hour heavy reinforcements continue to arrive on site. Scortch forces are rounding up terrorist sympathizers and appear ready to extend their reach into much of the Cobrakov interior.

It is midnight in the main port of CobraKov, and the night is as silent as the 2000 man submersible sliding into the harbour. The remarkable depth of the port allows the A.S.S. Tool of Persuasion to enter the harbour, disturbing nothing but the currents of water. The torpedo tubes open, and a single metallic object is fired at high speeds towards the port. As it gets closer to land, a single periscope rises from the waves. The object steers towards a poorly-lit, abandoned area of the port, and slides up to the docks.

A muffled whoosh is heard, followed by the tinkling of glass from a nearby lightpost. Six dark figures emerge from the capsule and remove their outfits, revealing plain civilian clothes underneath. One figure adjusts his belt, and then the figures are off in different directions, blending into the dark and into crowds with equal ease. The nation of Andelar has unannouncedly entered the conflict.

More than 48 hours after the liberation of North Millston the rumble of armored vehicles and the drone of attack helicopters can still be heard around the clock as the leading divisions of the 7th Mechanized Guards Army of the Scortch Military Police Internal Security Directorate arrive to secure the province. Checkpoints have been established throughout the city and martial law has been declared.

Commissar Ivanna Komonanov said today “interrogation of captured terrorists has revealed that the seditious conspiracy against the rule of order in Cobrakov goes much deeper than we thought. As a result we have been compelled to occupy the area in force in order to provide adequate security for the population. It is our fervent hope that this will be a temporary measure, until the last of the malignant free-thinkers lurking in our midst can be found and eliminated, and control of the region returned to the lawful government of Cobrakov”.

When an unidentified reporter asked if the current exercise was not merely a thinly veiled land grab by Scortch, Commissar Komonanov was quick to reply. “Absolutely not! We have no intentions of becoming bogged-down in foreign adventurism. It’s just not profitable.” The reporter has not been seen since.

Despite official assurances to the contrary, Scortch has occupied the area in overwhelming strength and appears ready to stay.

Reports have come back from several human resources under Andelar's Division of Warfare:

"The Andelarian army has been advancing steadily towards the centre of Cobrakov, making remarkable progress. Such a woefully small and underequipped army should not be making such large gains, considering that the enemy is of larger size and dug in. The only reason our soldiers appear to be winning is a series of 'mishaps' occuring within the enemy ranks. Every position we've assaulted has seemed to have their communications systems cut, and starved of power. Enemy military officers have been found dead, without any bullet wounds or shrapnel. There was even a case where the army, insanely, marched directly on an enemy fortified position. At least 12 machine gun nests turned into our direction and yet did not fire a shot. When we took the position later, there were no ammo belts or ejected brass. It was as though they were set up strategically and yet were not equipped with ammunition. I would usually say that such a small and poorly organised force will surely be destroyed in a matter of days, I am not so sure now."

At a news conference held today, Novolobovian Chancellor Centurion announced that portions of Kurassier are going to be annexed.

With Arch Duke Geoffrey, Regent of Novolobovia at his side, Chancellor Centurion made the stunning announcement. "For all intents and purposes, the nation of Kurassier is no more, therefore we will be establishing order under Novoslobovian authority- at the request of the people of Kurassier."

"The eastern districts of Kurassier are primarily Slobovian in ethnicity" stated renown political commentator Vic Romano on his TV show Vic Romano Live last night. "They belong under Novoslobovian rule."

Chancellor Centurions announcement was greeted with a mixed reaction in Novoslobovia, however residents in eastern Kurassier seemed generally pleased.

"Great, that's all we need is more welfare cases!" Said Port Arthur dock worker Paul Eagle. "Now all those Kurassiers, or whatever the %$## they call themselves, will be here looking for work and drawing welfare! Who needs 'em!" Sally Elmsdale, Mayor of Port Arthur seemed more up beat. "This is a great day for Novoslobovia and for freedom!" she stated.

Embedded reporters with Teutonic forces that the armoured columns of the Imperial Knights Regiment ground to halt today when they encounted Scortch forces. The commanding officer of the regiment, Grand Imperial Knight 2nd Class Baron Geoffrey von Ketz was quoted as telling reporters that they will fight rebels but not allies. Apparently, the Teutonic forces discovered that they we fighting an allied force. "We knew that there was something different- our opponents seemed better equipped and were actually putting up a fight." Baron von Ketz was overheard saying. Prior to today, the Shihazzian rebels were not able to resist the sheer might of the Teutonic armour. Reporters have stated that the Scortch and Teutonic forces clashed at about 4 am and fought until dawn when they discovered that they were not fighting CobraKovian rebels. Neither side would comment about casualties. "We are all here to do the same thing" said Baron von Ketz.

Forces of the Royal Order of Teutony have been following the forces of the Imperial Knights Regiment, the Loyal Knights Regiment and elements of the Imperial Household Guards (reportedly led by the Emperor himself) as they have smashed there way across the CobraKov countryside. The Royal Order forces have been busy working to re-establish the rule of law and to root-out any remaining rebels.

"The Teutons are consolodating their hold on CobraKov" said rebel spokesman Phil Mandens. "They are not here to liberate, they are here to enslave and all peoples of CobraKov should fight them and the other invading infidels. We are offering a bounty on the heads of any invading infidel!" Mr. Mandens did not offer any other details when questioned.

Crowds Cheer Novoslobian Flag

Rughsburg, Kurassier, Sept. 28th

This afternoon, a crowd of 500 watched and cheered as the Novoslobovian flag was raised in the towns square. "We are happy to be rid of those lunatics" an un-named man said in reference to Shihazz and his followers. Reports say that Shihazz is in hiding somewhere in CobraKov where forces of the Allied Commonwealth are battling the religious zealots and attempting to restore the old CobraKov government. To date only Novoslobovian forces have entered Kurassier.

Royal Novoslobovian Marine Brigadier Martin Constantine addressed the crowd saying that his forces have eliminated all rebel forces in the area. "You are safe to live free from fear." he told the crowd.

Meanwhile, a press release was issued from the Chancellor's office announcing that the eastern districts of Kurassier are now Novoslobovian territory and have been renamed "The Province of Stigmund". The name was deliberately chosen to reflect the shared history of the eastern Kurassierians and Novoslobovia. In 1878 during the War of Succession, greater Slobovia fragmented. Slobovia lost control of a number of provinces which banded together to form Novoslobovia. In 1922, after years of strife and instability, the People's Socialist Republic of Slobovia (PSRS) was formed, leaving the opportunity for Kurassier to claim the Stigmundian region of Greater Slobovia.

Reports coming from central and western Kurassier indicate that elements of the 4th Royal Marine Division and the Duke's Own Light Infantry are encountering heavy resistance from the Shihazzian rebels who have proclaimed the Serence Islamic Republic of Kurassier.

The massive buildup of Scortch forces in northern Cobrakov continues amid a sense of growing unease over the emergence of the terrorist state of Neokurassier. Scortch combat air patrols fly continuously, and air strikes on suspected terrorist strongholds in the countryside are ongoing at this hour. Unconfirmed reports state that Scortch has been using fuel-air bombs and worse against many of these targets.

On the ground the Scortch Military Police Internal Security Directorate has begun bar-coding and registration of the local population, as well as the installation of security-monitoring equipment in all public spaces. North Millston has begun to resemble a high-tech gulag as fortified strongpoints and security fences are erected throughout the city. The streets are eerily quiet except for the patrols of Military police BTR-90s, and the echo of gunfire as curfew violators are summarily executed.

Reading from a prepared statement this morning, Commissar Ivanna Komonanov said “We deeply regret the necessity of taking these drastic security precautions, but I assure you that we would not go to such expense if it were not absolutely vital for the safety of the people of Cobrakov. It is incumbent upon all civilized nations to resist the terrorist threat of religious fanaticism with all the power at our disposal. We must not allow ourselves to fall into the abyss of superstition, ignorance, and free-thinking!”

The Commissar went on to explain that the reported pre-dawn engagement between the forces of Scortch and Teutony was the result of misinformation and sabotage propagated by Shihazzian sympathizers within the population. “Fortunately”, she said, “the casualties on both sides were within acceptable parameters for an incident of this nature, but it remains an urgent reminder of the need for stern discipline and iron resolve by all levels of society.”

When an unidentified reporter asked if it might not perhaps be better to seek a peaceful coexistence with the newly formed nation of Neokurrasier, Commissar Komonanov replied “By no means! It is not a nation, it is a land in the grip of a deranged zealot! One that has declared itself to be our sworn enemy! You do not negotiate with your enemies, you crush them utterly! To think otherwise is to become them!” The reporter has not been seen since.

It appears that the conflict has entered a dangerous new phase.

Andelarian soldiers have been warned today of a possible aerial strike by opposing forces in CobraKov. It is not apparent how any air forces were amassed, given the country's current state of anarchy, but the loss of a dozen personnel at a nearby Andelarian airstrip is a possible explanation for the warning.

"No, we were not attacked by enemy forces; all of our aircraft are accounted for", stated Andelar's Chief Political Officer whilst watching the skies worriedly. "We can't let any opposition instil doubt into the security of our ground forces. It's time now for some lone shit". He then pulled out two submachine guns and took the Political Jet to CobraKov. He is currently in Andelar Intensive but in a stable condition. His office has recently increased spending on anti-air defenses and has issued gas masks to all ground troops.

20 km from the coast of NeoKurassier rises a dark figure from the depths of the stormy ocean. It is midnight, and the rain is pounding down as the shape fully rises above the ocean. It is the A.S.S Tool of Persuasion, and service crew are rushing to prepare the single-lane runway. Whilst the regular crew is asleep in their quarters, men in jet black suits adjust the slingshot before an aircraft is moved into position. It is the "missing" jet from the airstrip. The slingshot is activated, and the jet shoots off into the night, carrying it's deadly cargo. A man in a gas mask waves a counter around and, seeming satisfied, he returns with the rest back inside the vessel, before it sinks once again to the depths.

Today marks a milestone in the glorious revolution of Shihazz, NeoKurassier forces are holding-off all infidel enemies and have begun to execute all enemies of the revolution!

Emperor Withdraws Teutonic Forces

Holy Teuton Emperor Robert VIII announced today that all Teutonic forces will be withdrawn from CobraKov.

"We feel that our allies have the situation here well under control" Emeperor Robert said from atop his Leopard II-T tank outside of a razed CobraKov hamlet. "The emeny seems to have shifted it's control base to Kurassier, we will be going there to fight with our Novoslobovian cousins." Emperor Robert and Novoslobovian Regent, Arch Duke Geoffrey are second cousins. Heir to the Novoslobovian throne, seventeen year-old Prince Robert is named after Emperor Robert (who himself is named after Slobovian King Robert the Conqueror, who unified Greater Slobovia in 1238 AD).

This afternoon, Teutonic forces in CobraKov began pulling back into Teutony while other forces in Teutony have been seen being transported through Novoslobovian territory- it has also been speculated (but not confirmed) that advance Teutonic elements have entered into NeoKurassier through the small 24 km border that Kurassier and Teutony used to share. That border has been reduced to a 5 km wide stretch, now that Novoslobovia has annexed a portion of Kurassier territory.

In just seven days since the liberation of North Millston, Scortch forces have been able to consolidate their control of northern Cobrakov. All terrorist opposition in the area has been eliminated and daily life here has begun to return to normal under the watchful eye of Scortch. In the past 24 hours Scortch has moved quickly to occupy the regions vacated by Teutonic forces, augmenting the 7th MGA with the newly arrived 9th MGA.

At a press conference this morning Commissar Ivanna Komonanov made an announcement that came as a surprise to almost no one. “The events of the past week have been a great triumph for our forces and for Scortch,” she said, “but unfortunately this venture has incurred substantial cost overruns. Accordingly, we have been compelled to annex what remains of Cobrakov in order to recoup our investment. However as compensation the people will enjoy the same rights and privileges afforded to all citizens of our great nation.”

When an unidentified reporter asked if the annexation was a necessary first step in resolving the “Shihazzian question” Commissar Komonanov replied “Most definitely. We simply cannot tolerate their continued existence and we will use any and all means at our disposal to to eliminate them. Might I add,” she said, “that it is very refreshing to meet a reporter who knows how to ask intelligent questions.” The reporter has not been reported missing.

The intentions of Scortch, and indeed the entire Allied Commonwealth, toward the Shihazzians seem clear. With no significant distractions remaining for the allies the only question is how long can NeoKurassier survive?

Captain Holmes was the best soldier in the mainstream Andelarian military. Having been hired into the Office of Militaristic Affairs thirty years ago, Holmes had seen every type of conflict and warfare throughout Andelar's turmoiled history. Today he was stationed in NeoKurassier, with a deadly mission. His mission had started out well enough; he was stationed on the Tool of Persuasion before being launched into CobraKov with five other men. He didn't know who they were, they were probably special forces, but he disguised himself and stuck to his mission.

Holmes spent the next few weeks sneaking throughout the front behind CobraKov lines, assassinating officers and cutting supply lines. It was then that he had his new orders. He stole a jeep and made his way safely into NeoKurassier, only barely making it past the checkpoints without being detected. He met up with a new contact, and acquired the laser targeter, before infiltrating his way into a prison. The Shihazzian Rebels were using the building as a regional HQ since the fall of the government. Holmes made his way to the rooftop before activating the laser pointer. "Daring bastards", he said to himself, "A deep insurgency mission into the heart of NeoKurassier. That takes real balls".

Within a couple of minutes he heard the distinct sound of a high-speed aircraft. Holmes pulled out his binoculars and faced the direction of the sound. This was no carrier plane. It was too small and travelling too fast to be carrying any paratroopers. He craned the view downwards and saw two large containers attached to the plane, one under each wing. "SON OF A BITCH!", he shouted. The real purpose of the laser targetter became clear. Holmes ran back through the building shouting and pushing people out of his way. His actions brought on the attention of security who siezed him and, finding his uniquely military equipment, executed him at point blank range. The sound of the gun did not silence out the huge booming sound from above the city, followed by tens of millions of green particles, like a horrible kind of rain.

At a news conference held today Novoslobovian Chancellor Centurion announced that the ex-Kurassier lands now known as the Province of Stigmund have approved, in a referundum, becoming Novoslobovian citizens. Meanwhile Novoslobovian forces continued their campaign against Shihazzian forces referring to themselves as the Holy Army of NeoKurassier. Novoslobovian forces have recently been bolstered with the addition of, what is estimated to be over 50,000 troops from the Imperial, and Loyal Knights Regiments of Teutony.

Novoslobovian Marine Major General Thomas "Tommy" Gunn welcomed the addition of Teutonic forces. "They tend to be more heavily aromured than we are" said General Gunn in reference to the Knights Regiments. "Our Marines are relatively lightly armoured for quick mobility and seaborne transport... but the Knights, well those boys are land pigs... big armour and big guns. We're a good mix." General Gunn went onto say that Commonwealth forces are concentrating on eliminating command and control aspects of NeoKurassier resistance.

Meanwhile inside NeoKurassier controlled territory, there has been no word or sign of the CobraKovian born NeoKurassier leader Iman John Shihazz for the past five days. Iman Shihazz had recently reloated to the portion of Kurassier now known as NeoKurassier after the total collapse of infrastructure in CobraKov due to the war. Speculation is that he might have been killed or wounded in a Commonwealth airstrike.

The airstrike has been called in as planned and has struck the city centre. The beacon was activated one hour too late and so our target, the Shihazzian Chief Engineer, has escaped unharmed. The results of our damage are still being evaluated, but current news looks dire. The fusing particles continue to glow hot, covering the entire facility in an impassable coating. This was the only part of the bomb to work correctly. The detonator triggered too early, releasing the particles higher in the atmosphere, causing them to spread further onto untargetted buildings. The molecular hunters were also acting unpredictably, killing opposition and civilians alike. We have spent way too much on this project to allow things like this to happen. The DNA research team has been told to get results or be executed.

In any case, the airstrike has been noted by allied forces. The airplane is undeniably Andelarian, so we are falling back to plan B. The raided airstrip story will be confirmed by Sgt Terry Merlock, who we will use as a scapegoat. All current Kurassier forces are to proceed towards the oil field region. The Chief Engineer has been sited there, so we shall use this as a reason to advance upon the derricks.

Somewhere in NeoKurassier

Novoslobovian and Teutonic forces have halted their advance into territory held by forces calling themselves the Holy Army of NeoKurassier. Novoslobovian spokesperson Marine Colonel Sandy MacPhee told reporters this morning that there is no reason to go on.

"For all intents and purposes, this war is over." said Col. MacPhee. "Our objectives have been reached."

Sources claim that the joint Novoslobovian and Teutonic forces have cornered remaining NeoKurassier fighters in a pocket around the old Kurassier town of Umhold. When asked about the Umhold Pocket, Col. MacPhee stated that the area had no strategic value. "Rebel Kurassier activity is low, Iman Shihazz is presumed dead, and Kurassier, like CobraKov is now under the control of Commonwealth forces."

Despite the Novoslobovian claim that resistance is over, sounds of fighting can still be heard in the Umhold area. Earlier today, aircraft with Novoslobovian markings and numerous parachutes were seen over Umhold. When asked about this activity, Col. MacPhee had no comment. However, sources claim that the parachutes belong to soldiers in the newly formed Novoslobovian Foreign Legion Regiment (FLR). An un-named Novoslobovian Marine officer stated that the Umhold Pocket is providing Commonwealth forces with "an excellent live-fire training area", provoking speculation that the Novoslobovian and Teutonic forces are deliberately maintaining the pocket for training purposes.

The harvest of martyrdom is everywhere and still our fight endures! You cannot extinguish the devine flame ignited by Iman Shihazz!

From the Office of the Chancellor

It is with a sense of sadness and relief that the Government of Novoslobovia takes the official stance that the nations of CobraKov and Kurassier have ceased to exist. After the collapse of those respective governments, Allied Commonwealth forces rushed to their aid to battle rebel forces. We are pleased to announce that all rebel forces have been routed and Commonwealth forces now control all territory once under the rule of the legitimate governments of CobraKov and Kurassier.

However the war has left those countries in ruin. Portions of Kurassier have reconnected ancient ties and has become part of the Novoslobovian nation. Generally the infrastructure and ecomonies of those once strong nations are ruined. Royal families and goverment parties have ceased to exist, due to the brutal repression of the Shihazzian rebels- the likes of whom have not been seen since the Khmer Rouge purges in Cambodia. Now that our armed forces have eradicted its enemies, they are now providing aid to the few remaining survivors.

We hope that a brighter future is in store for the victims of this horrible war, and our forces will continue to hunt the Shihazzians where ever they have fled in this world!

The Andelarian soldiers are being told to stand down. The war is drawing to a close, and occupation is almost complete. Nuclear scientists are singled out and placed in Andelar's fledgling nuclear research division (only 2 catastrophes so far).

A wave of inner scrutiny has struck the nation, singling out possible terrorist sympathisers and conspirators. Dave Carson, popular political idol and leader of Andelar's opposition party, has been singled out as the ringleader of Shihazzian sentiment in Andelar and will be executed today without trial. Also included in the thinly-veiled witch-hunt are several members of the Andelar Socialist Movement, dozens of war protestors and the Chief Political Officer's hairdresser. The CPO himself addressed the masses today, sporting a very bad haircut, and announced that this treason is un-Andelarian and will not be tolerated. He has warned that security needs to be stepped up throughout the nation to prevent terrorist activity, and that anyone even remotely suspect can be immediately "interrogated", further kicking the rotting corpse that is Andelarian human rights.
