OOC:Tychsenistan, since it's bloody founding during the 1950's has always kept away from the squabbles and bickering of the larger and older world powers. However during this time Tychsenistan was hardly dorment, following several 5 year plans that rapidly accelerated industry and agriculture our nation is can now be seen as a developed country.

IC: Tychsenistan is looking to to orther nations for help in introduction to the world at large, the top of our agenda is to create strong ties diplomaticly and of course to create trade links that will further boast our growing economy.

If your nation is willing to make a move towards friendship with Tychsenistan then diplomatic groups are welcome to join the conference being held here in the Tychsenistani capital of Baorgrad.

I've been lurking for some time now, and I have to say something after reading this thread.

This person is TRYING, people! Personally, I'd love to join in and RP, but I don't want to end up on the ole TNNN for everybody to laugh at. Granted, no one mocked him, but ignoring and terse responses are worse in some ways.

When I first started surfing around, I found a post about the best way for a new nation to join in the RP -- find a region and whatnot. I haven't been able to find it again (yes, because I'm a stupid newb n00b, and it's probably right in front of my nose, thank you in advance for mocking me), but if I could make a suggestion, it would be great to see that and maybe more detail in a sticky somewhere. I had no idea what a world factbook was, or that one was necessary before you could RP. It would be sooooo helpful if a sticky detailed things a new nation should put together before attempting roleplay. What things are critical to be in this factbook? What other things should one have in place before attempting to join? What, exactly, are the protocols here so that someone new can join in with a minimum amount of disruption?

Anyhow, that's my suggestion -- detailed beginner's sticky with these sorts of items. I could have sworn I read one once, so if it's already there and obvious, please accept my apologies and point me that direction once again?

And, a let-up on the elitist attitude that I percieve. It's just my perception, which can be called into question, but it seems to me that it sure doesn't go easy on people who are new around here -- not one bit. :headbang:

A factbook isn’t needed in the least. The reason I asked for it is because he came out and gave some good information, which was completely OOC (out of character.) Because that information is not in character I cannot RP as if I know it. The reason I asked for a factbook is to give me some IC (In character) way to relate to him. As far as the administration of Nova Hope is concerned a country they’ve never heard of has popped up and sent a general message out there. Should he IC specify some the type of ties or set up a conference I’d be very happy to attend and make a plethora of IC posts.

As for joining an RP, quite frankly I was mentored. Wolfish, who has fallen into inactivity, brought me to the attention of some very good RPers who allied me IC and mentored me OOC. Now I’d like to think they see me as an equal, albeit slightly smaller physically.

As for what you should have?
What Tychsenistan has seems to be fine, a good gist of a back story and a strong grasp of the English language. What needs to be done is to convey some of that as IC knowledge. Quite frankly I don’t really need a factbook to RP with him, a post about an indignant national leader would be good. He could show some disgust at being ignored. Demonstration of RP ability is key, in my opinion. However a gimmick can bypass the process and throw you into the thick of things quickly too. I don’t recommend this to people as it can backfire, horribly, but it can also be a very good ‘in’. For example, The Island of Rose has the gimmick of having a populace of mostly insane people. While he’s not the top notch of RP stock he’s shown marked improvement and if he asked me to RP with him I would. A bad example would be the Feminany debacle that occurred not too long ago. She seemed to be intelligent, had a sense for RP and all the perquisites, but her gimmick (outlawing males) back fired and a large lot of nations formed a coalition of number wankers (someone more interested in the number of deployments than the actual RP, ex I send 500 missile frigates here and 250 F-16s etc.)

As for the elitist attitude around here, yes there is one. The way I looked at it, for sparing of my own feelings, was as hazing. One thing that seems to be prevalent here is that population=might=right. I find this to be totally untrue and judge people on their intentions, their abilities and their creativeness. I find this to be a much better way of doing things but too each their own.

Now that being said Ad Trafiq if you’re looking for a way to get started on an RP if you like you and I could start one up. I offer because I believe in the pay it forward principle. I started on my NationStates addiction by a mentoring hand, if you’d like to start an RP with a larger nation then TG me or activate one of my instant messengers. (Icons under my post count.)
