OOC: Many of you weren't here at the time, and those that were may not remember the horrific events that took place at the end of the Jarridian-Daylami Wars. (The links have been deleted :( ) So I will try to run through as much as possible before the trial begins.
History:
After the Jarridian-Daylami Wars, the government of Jarridia made a few mysterious errors, forcing President Jarrod Branam to step down his office and hand the presidency to the Vice President, Joel Sikes. Little did everyone know, but Sikes had planned the mysterious errors that led to Jarrod's demise as president.
As Sikes took over the presidency, Jarrod retired back to his home in Austin, Jarridia, but Sikes had more in store for the already morally crushed nation. Using captured Smithsilian Fighters and Bombers, left from the Smithso-Jarridian Wars, he successfully razed the Jarridian city of Kiakor (located neat the Smithso-Jarridian border, on the coast). This attack killed millions of innocent Jarridian citizens, and destroyed one of the most important cities. He took advantage of the Jarridian Constitution, which at the time stated this:
"In the event of a catastrophic attack or other horrific action, that leaves the nation in a bind of terrific anxiety and outrage, the president shall be given full power of the government, and congress shall disband, until the situation is remedied"
In short, Sikes used this fraudulent attack to proclaim himself dictator, but it didn't stop there. He utilized the attack to forge a war against Smithsilian, whom he had a grudge against the leader. Sikes blamed Jarrod for the attack, who quickly fled to Utcheer in order to save his own familes life. Sikes then ordered Utcheer to hand Jarrod over to Jarridian authorities, in which the Utcheeri Queen refused. Sikes, who was outraged by the betrayal, threatened war upon Utcheer and stated that they would face the same fate as Smithsilian. The great alliance between Utcheer-Smithsilian-Jarridia was falling to shreds, as well as the alliance between Jarridia and Matich.
With Sikes's escalating power, he began to execute his advisors and began to unfairly arrest tourists from other nations. He closed all the borders to trade, and withdrew all military personnel from around the world. Sikes led a war into Smithsilian, and began to attack Utcheeri forces at the same time. Outside forces mounted against Jarridia, as a coalition was formed in case the need for an invasion of Jarridia became necessary. Swiftly, the Secretary of State, along with the Secretary of Intelligence moved in to right the wrong. Using knowledge from outside forces, and their own references, they foiled the plan and ended what could have been the largest war in Jarridian history, and what would have lead to its demise altogether.
Days later, President Jarrod Branam was reinstated as the democratic leader of Jarridia and Sikes was sent to prison awaiting trial.
The time has come for his trial, and those involved shall each have a say. This trial will be overseen by representatives of the nations in question, and will be held by Jarridians. He shall not go unpunished. Justice will reign!
