In response to the discovery of uranium deposits in Republic of InterHobbes (RIH)owned territory, the government quickly began a mining program to extract and develop the radioactive element for study. While this has been public knowledge for several months, there is more than has only recently been learned by this news agency.
Sources within the InterHobbes military have confirmed to HBDN that the RIH has been seeking to sell portions of its uranium stockpile to regional nations with large arms manufacturing industries. The same sources have said that the goal of the RIH has been to trade weapons grade uranium for the construction of naval warships. This story could easily be supported by examining the make-up of the RIH military - while relatively strong on land and in the air, its navy has traditionally been weak to the point of being unable to adequately field its military away from the mainland, should it ever be needed to do so.
It has not yet been confirmed whether the RIH has been successful in its bid for trade, but HBDN will follow this story as it develops.
