Transmission to Military Storefronts, etc.
My people have a long-standing dislike of loud noises, and we preffer to avoid the use of gunpowder whenever possible. However, it does not do to be defenseless in this violent world. Can anyone please recommend a weapon that is quieter, but still reasonably effective and inexpensive?

why not focus on developing focused EMP technology? The strategic placement of EMP mines offshore and developing a missile based EMP air and missile defense would provide a solid defense without the need for conventional firearms, tanks, artillery, aircraft, and navy, short of a few coast guard vessels to place the mines

Try making laser rifles that discourage "loud noises"
i think they are quieter.

That may be a good idea but EMP disables your gear iswell so your enemy's could send in more troops and the defenders would have to use gunpowder guns anyway.

I think it's not good for us to have guns, but in this world we must have guns to protect oursleves.So I suggest you to wear all your guns silencers.

Look up Camewot,Roman Republican and Fracene they have Uber millitary sales sites or Talk to Sephiroth or Hataria

Not only are they virtually silent (remember: moistened, not soaked), but your thoughtfulness may just deter the invaders. Think about it, long marches, blazing sun, some dust or something. Then someone hits you with a sponge. I'd be so thankful I think I'd decide to live together forever in harmony.

Either that or you'll be shot before you can get close enough to throw it. At least you don't hear the one that gets you, so hope that your soldiers recieve headshots.

flamethrowers, napalm, gas... all are fairly quiet. Other than the screams of course. Other possibilities include military grade tasers (powerful water cannon that carry an electric charge.. very limited range), military pain beams (nonleathal weapons that agitate the water in the upper layer of the skin, causing amaizing amounds of pain but no permanent damage), and variously hardening liquids... of course, these are all short range weapons. a loud tank will pop your vehicles from 4km away using a noisy but effective sabot.

Develop chemical lasers perhaps.....

If you want a more conventional solution, just put a surpressor(not a silencer) on all of your weapons. Supressors do not adversely effect performance at all and hide the flash as well as partially muffle the sound of firing.

Hey if you are really cheap about it though, you could just use crossbows and airguns.

You COULD live in space, where weapons fire are noiseless... :D ...so are explosions.

or put scilentcers on anything you make (just think a scilentcer on a 150mm artillary unit lol)

Now I think we're getting somewhere. How expensive would these things be to produce?
