Hello, I'm Kathren Movan of the Colerica Imperial News network. Last night, voters in the recently-liberated Island Republic of Isla De Plata casted their votes -- for the first time -- for a new leader. The candidates ranged from the favorable (Maj. General DeClar Ramos; Spencer Rontosso), to the unfavorable (Brig. General Santos Briggs), to the bizarre (Kal Montross). As astonishing as it is, the Ma'dah Reborn party pulled an upset of all upsets. Brigadier General Santos Briggs was voted, by a razor-thin majority, to be the new Executor of Isla De Plata.
However, in another shocking turn of events, the former Ma'dah general was found dead in his apartment in the middle of night. Assassinated by a shotgun blast to the chest, Briggs' death leaves a glaring problem in Isla De Plata. Before he could even be announced as the official winner, Briggs was killed by his younger brother. Jeces Briggs confessed to the murder and claims that he was paid to kill his brother by the Socialist Mend'Ravo party. The Socialists have failed to reply to this claim.
DeClar Ramos and Spencer Rontosso, the two prime candidates in the election, have both commented about the assassination. While different in their choice of words, both men condemn this act of murder and wish to see that the murderer is punished. They also have called for a new election to be established. The UEC has established that a new election shall be held, but have not set a date. We will, of course, continue to cover this alarming story......
