Three months later...

All of Guffingfords marine harbours were preparing the last ships and training the last few sailors who signed up for this mission. The massive fleet also called the "New Armada" was due to depart in the coming few weeks. Their destination: Cape Verde Islands. This remained top secret up until a few days before departing when an unknown source revealed the plan of taking the Cape Verde Islands and adding them to Guffingford.

Imperialism in the 21st century? An unnamed source reveals shocking plans of war and conquest...

Guffingford Associated Press, Oslo - Today an unnamed source of the Guffingfordian government released a secret memo sent by a military planner and organizer named B.D. Thurra to president Ferrad gave us insight into a top secret plan of imperialism and war. Rumors of possible new military escapades were fed by the enourmous activity of the navy and airforce. President Ferrad has not yet responded to the media about this... Although unconfirmed talk goes about a 'secret pact' between our nation and Hamptonshire. Tomorrow we will dedicate the whole frontpage to these very disturbing developments.

Two days later the massive fleet departed from the harbours, out to open sea. One battleship with 1000 marines would take the Faroe and Shetland Islands while passing to the Atlantic adding new land to Guffingford, but the real prize lies in western Africa. An ally who also seeks expansion has decided to join Guffingford in its efforts.

A month of relaxed travelling later the Guffingfordian navy reached the Cape Verde Islands. A fleet of 120 vessels armed to the teeth and eager for war. But then... All hell broke loose.

Back in Guffingford more leaks regarding the secret agreements between Hamptonshire and Guffingford surfaced and experts claimed "this is only the tip of the iceberg"... In an article the link was made between the donation of Denmark to Hamptonshire and the sudden expansionism of Guffingford which could only indicate a treaty was signed with African blood. Eyebrows were raised and questions asked, Hamptonshire was a mighty nation with many allies and contacts. Could NATO be involved? People thought so and the fact Hamptonshire could easily stop NATO members from taking action against Guffingford was a very plausible explanation. The pieces fell into place. Hamptonshire took back Denmark from Guffingford and Guffingford could start massive chaos and instability in Africa with nobody to keep president Ferrad's imperialist desires in check. Even though this scandal rocked Guffingford peace was maintained and the operation proceded. But the last word wasn't spoken about this affair...

Meanwhile, this news was kept away from the troops near the Cape Verde islands for some odd reason. The invasion was about to commence and after that, there was no turning back.

Oh Lord Jesus Christ, saviour of our souls, Lord in Heaven and slayer of Satan! Bless our Holy Crusade against evil. Father shield our crusading armies from harm, let none escape our blades of justice and splendor.

Prayers and chants were heard on the vessels of the mighty Guffingfordian navy on the night before the assault. Cape Verde was preparing itself for the attack and 30 mighty ships were waiting near the capital city of Praia. If the government would fall, then the nation would collapse in the chaos that follows. Same happened with Norway and Finland, so why wouldn't with a place called the Cape Verde islands? Same old story many said.

The next day at the crack of dawn the attack started on Praia. The palace of the government was shelled by 4 Missouri class battleships with 16 inch guns, a deadly barrage of explosives. On the beaches of the main island landing craft stormed the beaches and first men were mowed down by a rain of gunfire coming from the buildings. After the small gunboats sprayed the buildings clean with slugs the beach was safe for the men to pass.

In the city a street battle erupted, with gunfire coming from every window. When the heavy artillery landed on the beaches, 255mm Howitzers cleansed the city and destroyed a lot of ugly buildings too. At the end of that day Guffingfordians still haven't reached the parliament and 700 men died on the side of Guffingford. Numbers of men have never been an issue to Guffingford. Religion was the most important thing in the daily lives of people and everybody was convinced there was an afterlife; heaven or hell for those who sinned. State and church have never been seperated and nobody tried, everything was fine the way it worked. And the fighting raged on in the south. On the third day of the attack 1100 Guffingfordians died of the fierce Verde resistance but when the houses of parliament fell into Guffingfordian hands, most of the resistance was broken.

Five weeks later...

Rebellions were quelled and peace restored, Cape Verde was in the hands of Guffingford! This war was a costly one, virtually the whole army defending the capital was butchered while 1700 Guffingfordians soldiers died gloriously on the battlefield. Victory was achieved, and that was the most important. Step one of operation Monitor was complete...

We don't know anything about this, it's all Hamptonshire. Also can you keep the OOC stuff out of this thread? I know it's really nothing to do with me but generally when you, HP, SoT or Guerillistan start making OOC comments like that is turns into: a) pages of OOC crap, b) a flame war.

Anyway, TAG.

Official Government statement, direct from the New White House

President Anderson has been reviewing the ongoing situation with Guffingford has decided that this is a threat to the stability of all of Africa as well as parts of Southern Europe.

Therefore Secretary of State Tom Adler will be meeting with the Guffingford embassador to the USIH to inform him of the President's decision to send a full carrier battle group to shadow the task force currently headed for Western Africa.

The President also reinterates his stance upon nations that threaten the economic, political and military stability of the USIH and reminds such nations that action, if warranted, will be taken to preserve the Hitmen's way of life and that of their fellow south african states.

Independent Hitmen's stance on our policy is clear and we respect that but we must stress Orthodox Christians are living in a state of panic and are prosecuted daily in show trials. We, as Orthodox Christians must fight for our brothers and liberate the oppressed people in Africa. Liberia is torn apart by civil war and blood diamonds flow into the world market daily. We feel that we are doing the world a favour by teaching those people the values of God and love for each other and if blood has to flow for that, then so be it. We show the world how kind and friendly we are to all humans equal and we will help rebuild the African economies. We hereby promise the world that we will not let Africa down. Certain elements in their government will prevent it from happening but this Holy Quest is a mission from God.

For God and Country!

Prime Minister Terri Bolash sat hunched before his desk, scattered papers drawn up before his hands. His office was joyous confusion, campaign posters sowed on the table, documents stacked on chairs, and a large foam finger lay upon the wide plasma monitor. It was the day after the Union Party's victorious election, and the party members were still resettling in, the unpacking punctuated by periods of celebration.

Reaching with one hand, the PM drew a thin folder from among the mess that was his desk. Stamped Highly Confidential in red ink, several profile reports fell out when it was open. After briefly thumbing through the papers, Bolash sighed, and filed it under Immediate Attention: Alliances. I wonder what Hamptonshire is up to, he thought.

IC:
Mr Thurra look at the magnificent armies of Christ! They are awaiting your command. I suggest we should commence the attack now before others might jump in. If we control a strong base of operations in Africa then others have little chance of gaining a firm foothold if beat them to it. We must change our plans, secure the coastal nations first and then we go in for Mail and so on until we reach the Chellian borders.

Let me see the map Sargeant.

Of course... Here it is.

Very good. We should go for Gambia first and after some fighting we must swarm out from their borders to Senegal. Mauretania... And so on. Then we must go to the south. Guinea-Bissau, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia... Okay? Right, we must act quickly and I suggest that we shouldn't wait too long with the invasion of Senegal. A blitzkrieg and I need lots of tanks and artillery.

How many troops sir? A million?

A million? Are you out of your mind? two hundred thousand will do for now. It's easy to gain support in those nations, lots of rebel factions trying to get their own leader in the parliament or whatever they have there. They support us, we give them a few unimportant positions but we have absolute power. Trust me, we know what's best for those people. The troops are ready and willing to die for their country, and so am I. Time for action!

Two days later...

The armies of the Lord were put into the landing craft near the Gambian shore (still in international waters) and immeadiately left for Gambia. Their battlecry was "mercy for the weak" showing that they would never harm any women, children and senior citizens. After 3 hours the Gambian coast was near and the men performed a final check on their weapons before they were relased on the banks of the Gambia, the river splitting Gambia in two. The capital Banjul was the first to be faced with waves of Guffngfordian soldiers. The Gambian army, underpaid and ill-developed was no match for Guffingford, however, guerrilla warfare in the jungles was the most frightening form of battle what should be avoided at all cost...

OOC: I'll finish this attack and the invasion of three other countries later

We are now three months ahead in time. There was a lot of fighting, city guerrilla and jungle warfare. Although many things happened the routine of siege and conquest made the soldiers of Guffingford restless. The tense situation of the battles and the seemingly endless periods of waiting between. What happened in those three months? Gambia was conquered, Senegal too and now the troops were heading for the south and Mauretania. This was a wild gamble; creating a two front war was a very risky operation but the newly promoted Field Marshall Thurra was confident in the mission's success. Guinea-Bissau was trampled down in a charge of 250 tanks and 50,000 men. Without resting they pressed on to Guinea. A fierce battle followed with many losses on both sides. But the Guinea defence was broken. The plan was to create a corridor from Guinea-Bissau along the coast to blitz the nations Sierra Leone and Libera, both almost unable to defend themselves from an outside attack due to the many civil wars. Furthermore, the capture of the Guinea capital Conakry wasn't really planned; it was more of coincidence because a 1000 tank division drove the wrong way. The original route was to avoid the capital until reinforcements arrived.

The rebel armies in those African countries posed little danger even to the Guffingfordian troops. Most of the soldiers were conscripts with basic military training. The real army was only used for defence. So far approximately 4500 Guffingfordians died honourable on the battlefield. The number of equipment destroyed or taken is not released by the government.

To the north in Mauretania progress was made but not as much as in the south. Resistance was much bigger than expected and the experienced military of both Mali and Mauretania were underestimated. A long battle would follow, but luckily the open desert would be claimed without battle if the more densely populated areas were under Guffingford control.

Progress and Victory is the motto of the advancing armies down south. Land was conquered daily by the Guffingford troops without too much resistance. Most generals of the army were bribed and sent him with the promise to resign from his or her military duties. Simple as that. Cote D'Ivore fell after a four week battle in the jungle. While surrounded by hostile forces, Guffingfordian soldiers never lost their faith and like a miracle, victory was achieved over an overwhelming majority of forces. Other regiments weren't that lucky though... A nation known as Defari controlled a part of Ghana and must be avoided at all costs, but political pressure would ensure it would fall into the hands of Guffingford right after Defari would lose control of their colony.

On the Mali theatre little progress was made. Guffingfordian patrol boats controlled the Niger river but a direct attack was impossible on the capital or the holy islamic city of Tombouctou was impossible at this moment. Eventually a small zone would be left of former Mali, cutting off all vital supply lines to the city and litteraly letting the people starve to death. A commonly used medieval tactic. Several weeks later, the capital and Tombouctou mass starvation began to occur and the political leaders surrendered. An immeadiate aid programme was started to help the population. Most important was, Mali was now under Guffingford control and the border with Chellian North Africa was reached by Guffingfordian men.

Seven days later...

All along the Mauretanian border tanks - wherever possible, stood still and looked at the border in front of them. 2500 Tanks shipped in from Guffingford would lead the final assault on Mauretania and to put down the resistance once and for all. The southern border turned into a WW1 like trench mess. The Guffingfordian generals realized they waited to long with bombing raids now possibly thousands of Guffingfordians would die due to their own bombers. The tanks rolled into Mauretanian soil and cutting down all resistance equally with an iron fist.

Back in Guffingfordian Scandinavia a plan was being thought out by members of the party to help Africa as much as possible and to make it a prosperous region again. All nations would receive a certain level of sovernity and were free to elect their own *puppet* government. All sites holy to the Islam were respected and muslims were allowed to visit them at any given time.

The conquest continued in the south, with three countries left, this operation was a grand success. The deathtoll however was around 10,000 now...

One year later...

The blitzkrieg lasted one whole year. Much longer than expected but whole of western Africa was now under total control of Guffingford. All nations were merged into one over the course of several months and the former nations received the status of province and west Africa was renamed to Guffingfordian West Africa. The imperialist adventures of Guffingford were done. For now... Total bodycount of the wars hovered around 11,000 at the moment. The amount of material lost is unknown and so is the number of African casulties.

OOC: Sorry for the short post, I'm busy right now.
