The colony of Presidentsland [RL Virginia] has been established for fifty years. Today, Governor Frederick von Brunswick opens festivities to celebrate the colony's 50th anniversary.

Presidentsland is composed of several towns, the most prominent being Calvintown, once a military outpost, has now evovled into a bustling port town and colonial center. The state house, the first brick structure in the town, indeed, in the whole colony was built in 1647, and is fairly modest, two story structure. on the first floor meets the Colonial Assembly, and on the second, a meeting room for the Governor's Council and an office for the Governor himself.
Other towns in Presidentsland are New Stuville, Presidentsland's 'second city', Marriottsville [RL Newport News] is another growing port, Jonestown [RL Richmond] is still somewhat of a frontier community and is the meeting point for Indians looking to trade furs for tools and other commodities.
To the north, on the Ryswick River [RL York River] lies the towns of Jenkinsburg and Fishtown. Farther north, on a the south bank of a river the Indians call "Potomac" is Potomac Fort, a post that conducts trade with the Kihamerians with which the Kaufmanstaders share Chesapeake Bay.

Farther to the South, the island Saint Gregory [RL Puerto Rico] is celebrating its accidental history. Governor Thomas Nixon at Port Republic governs over a more sparsely populated colony. Indeed, only 600 people live on the island, of which 200 live in Port Republic. The people of St. Gregory are mostly sugar farmers.

From the other thread.

Ok

on board of the Dolphin, somewhere on the atlantic, a fleet of 12 ships sails west. Captain Bloomingsway is taking notes in the shipslog. The mission is to claim land in the caribbian.

"...fourty-five days after leaving port. Rations are cut back to absolute minimum to spare supplies. The men are weak and..."
suddenly a sailor storms in.
"We're near land captain!!!!! We've seen seagulls!!!"
"Good news boy."
Bloomingsway continues to write in the log.

The next day

"Land on starboard!!!"
an hour or so later the fleet reaches land. The settlers begin rightaway to build a fortress and some small houses. After 2 weeks the fort is complete and connons of the ship are being pulled in.

.....to be continued....

The T'sing T'sin Colony of Q'in Q'arn has been established for about 50 years. Within that time span, much of the Outer Islands and the Carolinian Coast has been colonized with various settlements focused on places of natural resources. The major cities of Q'in Q'arn mainly consist of: Qinqan (the original colony), Kafstad (mining town), Wesmark Harbor (A'tchui territory), Southmark (lost colony), and Thickwood (inland).

Much of the commodities that Q'in Q'arn specializes in fish products, agricultural goods, lumber, and weapons. The latter is the reason how Q'in Q'arn has expanded as it has, with much of it's allies in that region using a 3 shot musket or a 5 bolt crossbow. Although the crossbow is an anquitated weapon compare to other colonial powers, it makes up with it's rapid reloading mechanism that has not yet been applied to firearms.

Q'in Q'arns military mainly depends on it's navy and army to gain territory in the west and south. Much of it's army consists of A'tchui natives as well as other tribesman whom have adapted T'sin T'sun tactics on a larger scale. As for the navy, a proto-galleon has been adapted on the junk model, with much of it's firepower depended on a 4 gun row on each side of the boat.

Current numbers for Q'in Q'arn's population & army in 1662:

2,250 Colonists & their descendants
1,600 "Mixed" heritage
1,500 A'tchui Tribesmen (officially adopted into the colony)
1,000 Other

19 Galleons
25 Frigates
10 Cargo
50 River skiffs

5 "Colonial" Regiments (the original Expiditionary Force)
2 "A'tchui/Other" Regiments
3 Colonial Milita Regiments

Generic: Sure thing. To give you an idea of where everyone is, RL Virginia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, N. Carolina, and Puerto Rico are all colonized.
Wow, Kay Son, you've got a hell of an armada!

For reference, Presidentsland is guarded by:
1 Regiment, Regular Kaufmanstad troops (800)
3000 militia men (settlers with yearly training)
2 frigates (35 guns)
5 sloops (great for the shallow waters of the Chesapeake - 10 guns)

OOC: Unfortunately the army sux. Virtually all of the combat troops are either milita or drawn from the various tribes in the area.

OOC: True, Kay Son, but you've got a nice force to defend the innumerable inlets of North Carolina.

EDIT: I just did some research, and the flintlock was available and widely used by 1662. So, as an addition to the note above, all my soldiers and militia are armed with flintlocks, which are far more reliable and easier to use than the clumsy and heavy matchlock.

OOC: true....

Also- I forgot about government.

The Q'in Q'arn Colony is mostly administered through a military hierarchy with a small "House of Commons" appointed in the various towns to administer matters of commerce. Matters in relation to defense are usually addressed at a forum where various leaders of the towns come to meet.

(ooc: Due to my undifileable memory, my capitol city will be called New Krieam, as i thought it was, but im not sure. And since i dont think anyone else is in Maryland, i would like to claim the entire state so i dont run into anyone.)
ic-
The colony of New Krieam was flourishing, it was a massive city, a few smokestacks rose into the air, chemneys rose, houses flourished, it was a far cry from once a newly-settled colonial town, barely on the map. The city went through good times, however in the year 1633 the govenor died, he was preceeded by his young son, Victor Germogen jr. the city was a multi-tierd city, the original colony was the mainstay and port-side of the city, housing most of the government buildings and factorys, split by a wooden pallisade wall, the second layer was home to barracks and farms, another wall divided the second and third levels, in the third level was mostly housing and farms. the fourth, almost non-existant layer was mainly walls and houses.
The Kihamerians, used to having to fit many people in small spaces*, built most of thier buildings with built-in beds and flat areas to lay. Outside the walls there were dotted buildings, mainly ranches** and farmhouses, but also warehouses and defenseive buildings***.
ooc: the colony of new Krieam holds about 4500 settlers, and some 200 milita. There are flintlock rifles made, at least one for each citizen and soldier, along with many extra. Most of the citizens arm themselves with other weapons aswell.
ic-
Other colonies had been formed aswell, namely one to the south, called Glory port (RL Dundalk), it was much smaller and spread out, but this provided a bonus, many farms were around, aswell as ranches, the city inhaitants lived on fish and grains and fruits from the farms and surrounding areas. It was very rural, and built much differantly, instead of a main walled city, the buildings were spread out, since it would be to difficult to wall in all of this, defenseive structures*** were built close to the clusters of buildings. Also fish was very, very important to the colony, it was a port aswell, so a good load of fish were brought in regularly. Few soldiers were stationed in the town, but they were supplied with horses and multiple flintlock rifles and pistols, along with sabres.
ooc: Glory port houses, in all of its buildings, spread out, about 1000 people and 100 milita.
ic-
These two were the main, but not the only colonies, there was one to the west, called Fort West(RL Frederick), it was a large fort, it was little of a city, more like a fronier town. people were crammed into the town, and space was vital, perhaps it was being to cautious, but no chanes were taken with the native indians and other colonies. The fort mainly had wooden walls with cover and walkways for troops, aswell as ramps for cannons, and towers for more elevated firing positions. Land inside the fort was rare, land plots were small, and the lawns werent just for looks, vegtables and other foodstuffs were grown in the land that was not used as paths inside the fort. Outsideo f the fort, to the southeast, were ranches, farms and factorys, all used to supply the fort with various things. As often as could be supplies were sent from New Krieam and Glory Port, mainly food, salt and metal ores.
ooc: Fort West houses 1250 citizens, while another 250 live in nearby ranches, farms and factorys. Only 175 soldiers are inside the fort, while another 25 are mounted soldiers and patrol the nearby and surrounding buildings.

*=Kihameria is a strange land, part deserts, part mountians, part swamps, part lush forrests. In the less inhabitable places, Desrets, mountians and swamps, people tend to live where they work, for various reasons buildings more structures for housing may seem difficult (lack of supplies, lack of suitable ground) but in the more inhabitable lands more buildings are normal.
**=Ranches are mostly used for raising horses, they tend to be very large and accomodate and breed many horses. Due to the vastness of Homeland Kihameria, most people rely upon horses to get around through the various and often difficult terrain. Also horses play a crucial part in military tactics.
***= Defensive structures, normally built with wood, covering the area of about four back to back, side to side houses, square and tall. Like mini-forts, only with much less space. there are walkways on top of the first story, and normally a tower is built in the center with accses via ladders. Up to four cannons can be rolled up, but the structures are most often used as places for troops to garrison and fire, thier size makes them to big to be towers, and perhaps frighten small raiding partys, but they are often ineffective in drawn out fights, mainly due to a lack of space.

ic:
*the three main Kihamerian colonial towns had been doing well for some fifty years, it was risky to settle Glory port, and even more so for Fort West, but they proved easy, and the natives proved little threat so far, but the cautious nature of Kihamerians prevented further colinization, however, on a remote ranch/farm half way between new Krieam and Fort West, a meeting was being held. Leading generals from Forst West, suppliers from Glory Port, and diplomatic officals from new Krieam were there, namely Victor Germogen Jr. the meeting lasted all of a day, and on into the second, but it reached a decisive end and the officals, whatever thier expertice and their home citys, returned. As soon as Victor Jr. returned to New Krieam, the papers buzzed out.*
Calling to all Kihamerians !
It has been announced today that, a call has arrived, all able minded, able bodied Kihamerians are urged to sign up for a coming venture westward, supplies are urgently needed, but men more so !
pay is five silver pieces a day, one gold pieces a week and an acre of choice land per month of service, see the governmental building of youre town today to sign up !
To all farmers, ranchers and other workers, supplies and workers are needed, the govenor of youre town or other government leader WILL PAY for almost all supplies, food, weapons and more importantly horses. Laborers, band togather and build versitile wagons, you will be payed !
*the intent was obvious with this, expansion.*

(ooc:I must say, Kaufmanstad, you and Kay Son both WAY overdid youre limits, espically with ships, i kept mine in-bounds on what YOU said Kaufmanstad, i wont even mention a navy yet, but trust me as soon as i get an idea on how you have so many colonists and soldiers i will bring it in. i saw numbers somewhere, i dont recall where though... like 7000 peasents, 500 men, 1 warship and three schooners, unless i misread something...)
(also ooc: for future referance, i mentioned horses in the other thread, and the government is a sort of hierarchy, the government officals at the time were succsesors, but a large majority of the people if needed could vote and oust a government offical, the punishment was most likely banishment to a outlaying colony, so the officals are often very fair to the people.)

Kay Son's the one that outdid himself. My army is part of the seven thousand, and I've got no more than say, 700 people in any given town. Most of my people live on farms, etc. I've kept my navy relatively small,

Kihameria, you went over 7000 settlers (only by 100 though).
Anyway, my "rules" are general guidelines, however, Kay Son, could you tone down your navy a bit? For the sake of starting equality?

About the state of Maryland, I figured you'd want the whole state anyway, as I mentioned in my first post here. My nearest settlement to you is Potomac Fort, which is on the river of the same name. :)

EDIT:
I don't think there should be limits on cargo/merchant/civilian vessels as long as they are not used in war.

Chief Flying Horse, lord of the Saskotachawa nation, sat on a beautiful blanket the floor of the great longhouse. He raised the enormous pipe to his lips, inhaled and breathed the smoke out in a ring, that floated towards the ceiling and dissipated. He lowered the pipe and passed it to the man who sat across from him. The man inhaled and exhaled the smoke as Flying Horse had just done.

“Chief Smokefoot, let this symbolize the peace between our great peoples. May we be blessed beneath the hand of the Mother, and may the War God stay away from our lands.”

“Chief Flying Horse, my peoples are grateful to see an end to the warring that has plagued our lands for so long. May this peace be lasting and prosperous.”

The two men stood. Chief Flying Horse was getting on in years. His appearance showed this. His long mane, once pure black and flowing, now sported grey streaks. His angular face was creased with the lines and scars that life had left him. His body was powerful, even in age, the muscular physique of an old warrior. His wits still remained sharp, however. The many tribes that fell under his reign lauded him as a great and wise leader. For so many years, he had seen the survival of his people through countless wars with neighboring tribes. Now, the final war had ended, and the last of the tribes had united under the Saskotachawa banner. The peace seemed strong enough to last 1000 summers.

Chief Smokefoot and Chief Flying Horse walked out of the longhouse. Smokefoot mounted a fine horse and set off for his own village. Flying Horse watched him go, riding into the setting sun. He mused on war and the years of strife between the people of his land. Now that was over. He thanked the powers that be.

His contemplation was interrupted by a young brave who called to him.

“Chief Flying Horse!”

“Brooding Bull, you bring me news?”

“Yes, but I fear we must speak elsewhere. The news I bring is…strange.”

“How could it be so? I have seen many things, my son.”

“Yes, but never these sights.”

“Then it must truly be news. Come, we shall speak in private.”

The two men walked into the longhouse, now empty.

“Father, our hunting party encountered unusual things today.”

“A three eared hare, my son?”

“No father. Worse. A white skinned man.”

“Fascinating. Our brothers in the south have encountered such before, but I had thought that they would not venture this far north. They say white men fear the deep forests of our land.”

“They are building, father. A great house populated with many smaller houses. They bring the barrels that spout fire and thunder.”

“Our brothers also speak of these.”

“What should we do, father? These men clearly threaten our people.”

“My son, our people have stood strong for three hundred years. A band of white skinned men shall not disturb us now. We shall wait, and when the time is right, we shall speak with these men. Perhaps they can help us, and we them.”

“Father, I trust your wisdom, but I am not sure of you now…”

“Have faith son. We shall prevail.”

An expression of deep contemplation appeared on Brooding Bull’s face.

“My son, I have an errand for you.”

“What would you have me do?”

“I need you to ride to the village of Chief Smokefoot. Tell him to dispatch messengers to the many tribes of our joint nation. Tell him that all of our great chiefs shall meet here in three days to discuss these matters.”

The expression on Brooding Bull’s face lightened.

“Yes, father.”

“Ride swiftly, my son. We have little time.”

The brave ran off to mount his horse and be off on his journey, leaving his father, the great Chief, to contemplate the matters at hand.

Excerpts from the journals of the Presidentsland General Assembly

September --, 1662
RESOLVED, That a commisioner be sent to the town of New Krieam, in New Kihameria to discuss matters of boundaries and lands in regards to settlements yet to be planted in the West.

ORDERED, That the Governor choose a commissioner to fulfill the aforementioned resolution.

Governor von Brunswick recieved the resolution later that same afternoon. The governor chose Samuel Gorsuch, a fur trader and prominent citizen of Potomac Fort, to go to New Krieam as commissioner.
The Governor, anxious to know more about America's interior, also choose 10 men to go on an expedition into the west, to discover any new mineral deposits unknown and to take careful notes on various plants and animals as well as the natives. The expedition was chosen to be lead by Captain Joseph Reister.

The Japanese Head Ship of the 'Fleet Naomi' could be seen from distance as it heads towards the new land. Sailors on the ship ran around preparing for the landing of the fleet. The fleet included 25 ships that were armed just incase of an attack. The ships entered the harbor as they dropped the anchor. 14 of the 25 ships were sent to explore and chart the island while the rest of the ships were anchored. The sailors, with the mapmakers entered the new land and started to explore and started to chart.

The rest of the eleven ships were in the harbor. Some of the sailors were told to go back to Japan and inform the Emperor of the new land found. Five of the eleven ships now left to inform the Emperor about the new land found.

Some of the seven ships went towards the colonies set up by other nations. The Japanese symbol soared heavenly on the ships windsails, the same symbol was on everything Japan owned. The sailors and the mapmakers noticed the colinization and hoped they didn't expand onto the Northeast of the land since the Japanese were going to colinize that area.

IC: The once small Fort Gojira(located on RL Manhattan Island) had grown. It now had 500 settlers and 250 soldiers. 3 other forts had grown on the island they now called Gojira Island. The most recent fort had been built on the mainland by a river the people now called Godzillasaur River(RL Hudson River). The fort there was called Fort Tokugawa after the first Shogun of Tomzilla. All the forts had around 500 settlers in each of them with some soldiers for peace. The people elected their leaders. The current leader was Dieter Shadle, who was decended from the man who founded Fort Gojira. There were rumors that he was planning an expedition to explore the rest of the river that Fort Tokugawa was located on.

Farming, along with industries, were common there along with herding cattles. More ships entered and left the harbors of now known 'New Okinawa Island'. Religion, education, laws and jobs were now being introduced in the Japanese way. The 'Naomi Fleet' was still exploring the lands until it hit another piece of land (New York) which they called 'New Japan'.

The Emperor approved of citizens moving to 'New Japan' but under the same law of visiting Japan once a year whenever they wanted or else they would be arrested.

Taxes were intorduced just how it was in Japan to fund police, army and other neccessities. Less people came to New Japan but over the days more arrived, now New Japan was 1/4 filled up while more land people were moving in.

The land filled 750,000 Japanese people while development was increasing at an alarming rate.

The Japanese made a deal with the American Indians for letting them keep 2/6 of the land in trade for cattle, crops, gunpowder and other items.

Religion, education, laws and jobs were now being introduced in the Japanese way. The 'Naomi Fleet' was still exploring the lands until it hit another piece of land (New York) which they called 'New Japan'.

Less people came to New Japan but over the days more arrived, now New Japan was 1/4 filled up while more land people were moving in. The deal with the Iroquois was made that we would get the 1/8 of the land after the Hudson River (excluding what Tomzilla owns) along with the land before the river.

Business, trade and farming was flourishing between Japan and the New Okinawa Islands and New Japan along with the American Indians. Japan imported more from the American Indians and with recieving 10 shiploads of American Indian goods, Half of that would go to Japan and the new lands owned by Japan.

The Indians taught the Japanese their skills and the Japanese started producing what the Indians did and lessend the trade with them.

There were fifty of them, the great chiefs, young and old, of the member tribes of the Saskotachawa nation, along with their best warriors. They sat around a fire in the center of Chief Flying Horse’s longhouse. After the pipe had been passed around, Flying Horse stood to address the assembled.

“My brothers, I call you here tonight to address an issue that has been gnawing at the backs of our minds for a long time. For fifty years, the white men have come to our lands, built their villages, brought their guns, and sold their good for our tobacco. We have never bothered them, and they never have done us harm. We have always coincided in at least reasonable peace.

Now, things are changing. The white men no longer seem content to stay along their coastlines. They build their villages further and further from the seas. Why, just two days ago, Brooding Bull and his hunting party encountered white men not seven miles from here. It is true, they are moving north, as well as west.”

Another man stood to speak.

“Great Chief, my people in the south ((Virginia)) are being forced to move west constantly, to avoid being swallowed up by the whites. If they are not stopped, they will swallow up the whole of out territories!”

Chief Flying Horse made a motion to calm the excited man

“Fleetspear, calm yourself. We must discuss these matters as men. We cannot afford rash talk.”

“Yes, Great Chief.”

“Your point is taken, brother. The white men are pushing our tribes west every day. The answer, however, is not aggressive action. We must work out a settlement with these men, peacefully.”

A young chief stood, anger written across his face.”

“Chief Flying Horse! These men have no regard for our people! How can you allow them to come and take from us what is rightfully ours? We have had this land for thousands of years! These interlopers must be taught a lesson! Listen, for years we have slaughtered each other. Now we are strong from war, and there is peace between the tribes. Our tomahawks are too clean! Let us stain them with the blood of the whites!”

Several elders shouted in dismay. The Great Chief tried to calm them.

“Peace, brothers! Young Chief Blackspear, you mustn’t soil this peace with your talk of brutality! We must not kill if we can avoid it. The war God should be held at arms length, never embraced as a brother.”

The young chief sat down again, anger still scarred across his contorted mouth. The smoke from the fire wreathed his head, as he sat in contemplation. Again, the Great Chief spoke.

“Brothers, clearly there is disagreement among us. However, we must take the higher road in this issue. Let us work towards a settlement with these interlopers. Here is what we shall do. Sleep in my village tonight. My great house is as your own. Tomorrow, return to your people, and tell them of our plans. Then, send forth a party to encounter the white men. Work for a settlement with their leaders. I shall do the same. For now, however, the hour for meetings draws to a close. Let us adjourn to the center of my village. We shall feast and celebrate long into the night, putting aside this talk of drab matters.

The leaders looked at each other, agreeing with the Great Chief’s plan. However, Blackspear still remained with a sullen look upon his features. As the others rose to go towards the impending festivities, he remained. The Great Chief approached him

“Brother Blackspear. I know your feelings on the matter. However, you are still young, and you do not fully understand the horrors of war. For now, leave these matters to me and the other elders. Someday, you will have your chance at diplomacy, when you have gained the wisdom that comes from many years.”

“Yes, Great Chief. I trust your decision.”

“Excellent. Come now. As I said, put these matters aside.”

The Chief walked out of the longhouse. The sound of drums was reaching Blackspear’s ears, yet he did not hear them. The wheels of his mind were turning, scheming, plotting. His head snapped up, and he walked outside. He was met by a brave of his tribe.

“Warrior, fetch my horse. We must ride quickly tonight. We have business at home.”

The warrior nodded. As the festivities began for the others, the young warchief began the journey to his village.

As the land was being filled up with Japanese People, they cut down more forests for industries and residents. As now, to defend the land of Japan. The Emperor sent an army of atleast 1,500 men to protect they're lands as people volunteered for the army.

The Emperor of Japan sent a letter to the local Saskotachawa Nation.

Dear the respectful Saskotachawa Great Chief,

We humbly would like to apologize for taking Land from your respectful Nation, we only are interested in these Lands. We guarantee you that we will not fouly take any more Lands unless needed.

We would like to offer a lifetime of peace with your nation. We wish not to have war with your nation nor do we wish to take more land unless needed.

To this peace offer, we would just like to buy 500 acres of land from you, We are deeply sorry, our Nation is expanding a lot and we need more land.

Truely Yours,
Emperor of Japan

Chief Flying Horse looked at the curved and flowing letters on the fine paper. He could make nothing of the scrawl, and neither could anyone in his tribe. He called together the three members of the tribe who could speak limited English.

"Take this letter to the white men's village. Perhaps a discussion will yield more results."

Marshalltown roared in celebration in the year 1662. The land of New Poznon was joyfully growing and producing, seen as a viable investment of the Grand Duke. The capital of the territory remains in Marshalltown(RL Perth Amboy), site of the Governor's Mansion and the House of Burgesses, the legislative body of New Poznon. Other settlements include Gordonston, Middletown, and Port Saving Grace.

The colonies' main products were wheat, grain, tomatoes, fish, and lumber.

Alexander du Frier ruled as Governor. The Churchills remained an influencial family; The patriarch Clifford was a wealthy farmer, his son Christopher the Commander of New Poznon's soldiers.

He is of sound mind and experience, heralding from a background in helping our southern allies in the conquest of the H'deian Raiders. He is also of sound stock, hailing from the lineage of Cheif Wakasai and Sir Yunqvest, late of the 3rd Expiditionary Marines.

Three days later, Reister headed out of Jonestown [Richmond] and headed north west [up the James River] toward an Indian camp. There, Reister hoped to ask the Indians about mountain passes and the general western terrain of Presidentsland. Message sent to Kaufmanstad Colony

Dear Sir;

I was hoping if your navy would be interested in participating in our annual Frigate Race that we have every Moonsday near the Colip Channel. The prize to this would be a newly built frigate as well as the guns supplied on that ship. Although this is a new motion in having one of our boats as a prize, the track itself is about 80 leagues long with the object in avoiding "hostile" ships that woudl prevent the winner from reaching the finishing line.

(These "hostile" ships are of old designs and will fire large globs of paint to mark a participant's "loss"/"sinking")

Please pass this on to any interested power within the region,

I look forward to the shipment. Most of what has come our way has been from our allies as well as the other colonies along the Marshland Coast, so your crew will be met with much celebration.

On a similar note, I am surprised by the lack of diplomatic relations with Kihemeia. Although our ships do pass by their fortifications in the Bay, no actual progression beyond the simple pleasentries have been made. I was wondering if your diplomatic core could drop a message to your neighbors on the matter of establishing prescident (of when our ships come).

*Daniel continued to lead the Kaufmanstaders at a fast pace through the land, then all of a sudden Daniel slowed to a trot, he lead the men through what seemed like normal terrain, he pulled out a pistol, he waved it around in the air, he then put it back in its holster and continued on, with many turns, they went on, and eventually a strange building was sighted in the distance, it flew the Kihamerian tricolor (i have a picture of the flag, but the hosting site is down it seems) flag, Daniel sighed and continued on, about half way from where they were to the building, riders came to meet them, these men were dressed, some in blue, some in light brown, all wore ensignia with stars, images of waves, sabres, pistols, all such things. These men were offical military soldiers. They rode with speed and agility, they reached Daniel and hte Kaufmanstaders and encircled them, all of the soldiers had a rifle, a gunbelt a sabre and a tomahawk, similar to the ranchers attire of weapon, in fact roughly the same, except for the dress style. Daniel and the soldiers talked quietly in a strange accent, the lead soldier peered over Daniels shoudler at the Kaufmanstaders, then Daniel rode off back to his ranch, leaving the Kaufmanstaders with the soldiers. One of the soldiers, the one who talked with Daniel, had a leather stiching which held two sabres, he rode up to the Kaufmanstaders.*
"I am Stephen two-swords, Daniel has informed me of youre mission, we will escort you to New Krieam."*said the man, who then gave the word and the Kaufmanstaders and the soldiers were off again, in a short time the city was in sight, the outskirts ofh te city were bustling, smoke stacks rose into the air, and military patrols were evreywhere, the soldiers took the men through the outskirts, and to the first gate, it was in a time of peace so it was opened, they went through the second and on into the heart of the governmental district, they rode into a long house, a sort of stable. But the building was empty, only a few horses were there. the Soldiers rode to the back of the building, where the men dismounted, they instructed teh Kaufmanstaders to do so aswell.*" Quickly, mark these horses..."*said Stephen, not thee minutes later a man brought in many red scarves, he tied one to each horse of the Kaufmanstaders and then left, Stephen then looked to the Kaufmanstaders and instruced them to follow him. He lead them to a nearby building that looked like a house. He knocked on the door and a servent opened it, Stephen lead the Kaufmanstaders in, and down the hall, through a door and into a large room with many seats, there was a main window looking out to the water, other than that there were numerous smaller windows to the east and west, near the roof, providing light in the daytime, but there were special places made for candles. Along the south wall were books, to the east and west walls were wooden bunks tied with ropes to the wall, to the north wall were more books. To the north was a simple desk made of a odd looking black wood, there was a chair aswell, but the soldiers and the Kaufmanstaders were the only ones in the room. As to messages to the Government of the Kihamerians in America, I would more than willing to forward any correspondence to the proper Kihamerian Authorities.

In regards to weaponry, I will have shipped 10 flint lock muskets, which will be demonstrated by a special guard on board the ship Chesapeake. Also on board the aforementioned ship will be the requested goods as well as several bronze cannon, the most recent advance in cannon technology.

"Will, er, I be meeting his excellency the Governor soon?"

Marked on a chart as "Oregon Inlet" the Kaufmanstad ship Chesapeake hove into the wind and carefully approached the inlet. The Kaufmanstaders were especially careful, since the outer sand banks of Kin-Karn had gotten the name "Graveyard of the Atlantic."
Once safely entering the sound, the Chesapeake made its way toward Kin-Karn's capital. The Kaufmanstaders were greeted with jubilation and Captain Ignatius Marks was the first off the boat, smiling and shaking hands.

To: Governor Frederick von Brunswick,
Calvintown, Presidentsland.

I thank you for the arrival of the Kesa Peake. Their arrival did initiate much celebration within the community with the sailors being of a rowdier nature than Somarkers. Although the second stage of the race has not commenced, I must inform you that the Kesa Peake did not suffer much "damages" as the other participants within the fleet, and provided it's mettle whilst passing the First Mark on Aufstader Isle.

As for the Kihamerians, I wish for this to be conveyed to their leaders;
====
Dear Lords

I great you in the name of my Queen and my Lords, in the name of the T'sing T'sau Kingdom. Although we have not the firm ties that you have with the Kaufstaders, we wish to commence such relations due to the stragetic position you have in the Northern Bay. We can offer you ships, agricultural items, as well as fire powder in exchange for the famous Stone Clams that the Kaufstaders seem to include in every convey that comes south as well as wool/thick leather. Much of the leather present within our fair colony does not bear well to the winters that pass through our western outposts and therefore need those coverings to survive. Our next cargo ship within the area will be arriving on the --th and shall bear the white flag in diplomatic peace when sailing in your nearest harbor.

Sincerely,

Having producing industries and residences in many areas, the need to expand was neccessary, but the Emperor banned any expansion to give respect of the local Indians. The buisnesses were put onto New Okinawa Island. Trade, business and prosperity flourished. Fort Kuji was found at the base of the Hudson river governing any Japanese trade ships that passed. New forts were being placed. Fur had been the demand and trade increased for Fur.

Military expansion needed to be placed and four military academies were placed. Any man over the age of 23 had to experience 3 years of military training and if neccessary could bge drafted. Samurai classes had been the class of which was used in battle. Cavalry and Siege were being introduced and the new weapons had been used.

Now, our plans arent changed lightly, and we will secure our west by force if nessisary. But lets not get hostile. We will be willing to divide the land, since we do not have that many men. We are north of youre Virginian settlements, so here is my proposition. Niether of our countrys move to or past the states of Minesota, Iowa, Missouri, Arkansas, or Lousiana until we meet again and discuss further borders. We will take the states of West Virginia, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconson, Kaufmanstad can have evreything to the south of our settlements, but not beyond the western border. To the northeast of our settlements we belive to hold large Indian tribes and other colonies, until further notice we wont expand northward. This leaves Kentucky, Tenesse, South Carolina, Missisipi, Georgia, Alabama and Florida i belive in Kaufmanstads land. We have heard rumors of a large river that runs deep into the conenient, we also request that this river remain open, if it exists. Gorsuch produced a map showing what was known of the west, from the Appalachains eastward. Gorsuch put on his glasses and pointed to the Potomac River. "To be more simplistic, sir, I thought that the easiest way to determine our shared boundary is to find the source of the Potomac River. From there, draw a line of latitude all the way to the other ocean, the Pacific. Quite simple, actually, what do you think?" Gorsuch removed his glasses and put them in his coat pocket. "Governor von Brunswick has dispatched Captain Reister to travel the west and find the headwaters of the James to see if that river joins with another in hopes that it will lead us to the Pacific."

"The Honorable Louis Granger from Marshalltown has the floor for the first item of business."

A stout man rose. Some of the society upper-crust saw the approaching cold as an immediate reason to don their heavy (and expensive) clothing from the harsh climates of Poznon.

"My thanks to you, Mr. President. I also give my regards to the Congress and the Governor.

"I desire now to raise the matter of our relations with other settlers of this area. We have exchanged small pleasantries with them throughout this half-century of settlement, but we have remained relatively distant from them. I propose we dispatch a Commissioner or Commissioners to establish proper boundaries and contact." Granger sat down, to several cries of "Hear hear."

Now du Frier rose.

"I am in complete accordance with Mr. Granger's sentiments. I motion we appoint and dispatch a Commissioner to the Kihamerians, as they are in closet proximity to us."

"What of these men from the East?" asked a Congressmen. "They are to the North."

"Ah, yes. One emissary to them, as well." answered the Governor.

"I second the motion." said Granger. After the President put it to a vote, it was decided to send out the men.

I must inform you of a tragic events that have befallen the Kesa Peake. As the ship was being prepared for the third stage of the race, a small company of Lakoshi Natives saw fit to declare a mutiny against their A'tchui commander. Whilst the mutiny was put down with severe force, much of the racing squadron near th' docks were severely damaged in the fighting. I must inform you that th' Kesa Peake did suffer damage to the hull and aft deck due to the vain attempt by the Lakoshi's in seeing the Kesa Peake as a "foreigner" ship. Repairs to the ship are currently on-going with Blackcoats being employed within the ranks of the Colonial Marine Core on suspected mutineers.

On a seperate issue entirely, I was pondering on the creation of select way stations along the route towards your colony. Would your leader be privy to the idea of co-stationed bases along the coastline? Naturally the power would be shared with those places utilized for dumping bilgewater and accessing needed supplies.

Greetings Govenor, i am Bret Vandorgoth, Mayor of Glory Port, to clarify, i am not the leader of political issues, but i am master of trade in the colonies, and i am sure our Govenor, Victor Germogen Jr, would welcome mroe relations.I belive it would, i belive, be benificial to us both for trade between the T'sing T'sau Kingdom and the Kihamerian colonies. I will set out calls for Fur and leather, but our tailors are busy with other things. We have an abundance of salt and preservatives, perhaps we could work two tasks at a single time. Forgive my outlook, but the winter will bring cold weather and a lack of food, our ranchers, milita and citizens can hunt meat, Deer and possibly Bison, aswell as beaver. We have fish, but i doubt fish scales will protect anyone from the cold. Back to my idea, it you will, we can hunt Deer at least, we will skin the deer for thier fur, and we will salt the meat, when youre trade ships come, probably to Glory Port, we will trade the fur and meat. It is partially embarrasing and humbling for me, as a Kihamerian, to admit our lack of ships, most our non-trade ships are currently away from the colony. We have plenty of agriculture items and enough fire powder, but we could use ships, schooners even, anything to carry supplies over the water.

*Far south of the colonies, South from even the T'sing T'sau Kingdom, the ships of the Kihamerians were sailing silently, withing sight of shore, they had sailed through marshlands and swamps, they had turned around a massive outcrop of land, they had turned west, and now were slowly turning south again, until they sighted a sandy beach. They droped anchors and laucnhed row boats and went shore, for some reason, some yards away from the shore they stoped.*
"Sandbar... blast !"*said one of them that was in a boat*
*he jumped out, followed by others, the water as chest-high, but they moved ashore, one had a pike, another carried a Kihamerian flag, they tied the flag to the pike, and put it in the sand.*
"We hereby claim this land for Kihameria. Now, get back to the boats and get supplies ashore, we must get going quickly, we wont recieve supplies for a long... long time."*said the man, drenched, but not shivering, the water was warm, but not quite blue. The weather, even for being september, was warm.*

We do currency on the amount of gold, copper, and silver within these lands. We also depend on select wooden talents that represent a specific amount of goods (i.e. 10 L. Talent= 10 lumber logs).

If you are wanting to pay for the ships, I would recommend;
-270 lumber logs (20 feet in length, 5 foot in width)- preferablly the "hard" lumber that is so often seen in your parts
-3 bales of fur
-50 pounds of perserves
-50 pounds of salt

Stone clams are shellfish that are hard to break open but delicious in taste. Kaufstad has sent us in the past and have told us that they reside in the very bay that your colonies dwell in. I am willing to forgo 1 bale of fur for 3 barrells of stone clams.

(ooc:Kaufmanstad, is their any rule on waiting for supplies to come from our main countries ? or since we have been around for fifty years we should supply our own colonies. I also have an idea for another RP i would like to talk with you about, do you have AIM ?)
ic:
*the lead ranger took the doccuments and stuffed them in his saddlebag, and then a pistol went off, the rangers looked amongst themselves, no blood nor smoke rose from their tight circle, it was another signal fire, the rangers sighed, but not for long. Yet another rider came charging over the countryside, followed by other military officers. Another shot was heard, the charging rider tumbled to the ground. The rangers quickly began to panic, the leader took the dispatches out of his saddlebag and began to flee, the other rangers did aswell, the one that had the sabre to Thompson quickly twisted his wrist and his sabre and gave Thompsons horse a cut to the back end in an attempt to make it run. As the rangers fled the military men chaugt on and gave chase, it was a skirmish around the countryside, concealed rangers fired from trees and rocks at the military men, the military men fired back, some threw small metal spheres which bounced and then exploded, in under five minutes the main fight was over and the rangers were scatted, the military moved on in chase, completly leaving Thompson alone.*

To Governor Quillerin Ghalazi,
Those terms seem most acceptable.
We will harvest and stockpile the mentioned supplies, however the stone clams will be difficult to obtain as our men are busy getting salt in any ways possible and getting fish. By the time youre ships arrive, we should have the supplies you request. If we do happen to get any stone clams, we shall send them along since they seem to be bountiful- when harvested. Also, is thier, by any chance, a way myself, perhaps our govenor, and youreself may meet ?

"Interesting. Call a priest out here to give the last rights to the dead, bury the bodies, give this field a name and get the mens account of the battle. You are in charge."*said the leader, who then got on his horse, called for two others and rode off towards New Krieam, where the letter would be taken.*

*On Galveston isle, the worst was about to happen. A growingly large group of men grew togather, each one of them armed, they marches towards where the captain had set up a tent. The men surrounded the tent and fired into it, all the men left, there was no crossfire, a man who looked to be the leader rallied the men, and then they walked off. However, it was a stroke of luck, the captain was not in his tent. Nature called at a moment, the captain was returning to his tent when he saw it surrounded, luckily the men didnt bother to check the tent. The captain made his way back to the camp during the night, he stole a horse and some supplies, and rode off quietly to his recelection of northeast, it was his best chance of survival.*

*In New Krieam, the word was given, the men loaded the wagons, got on horses, supplied themselves and then slowly, carvan style, went out of the city. They went westwards, they would stop at Fort West for resupplying, and then continue on until a suitable spot was found in West Virginia for a Kihameran border town, and then on into Ohio. It took hours for the men to load and depart, but once they did there was a massive caravan of people, over two hundred men, women and children, fully armed. There was an escort of sixty men, twenty military riders and fourty milita men, the expansion had begun.*

Your Majesty-

It pleases to inform you of the ratification of the Yasiki State as part of the Colony. This means that Qinqarn holds a significant claim to the Southern Coasts around Southerton, thereby allowing the full domination of that coastline. A drydock has already been in commission to establish Your Dominance within the area and will be finished within the month.

It also sorrows me to inform you of the invovlement that the Colonial Marines had with the A'tzugi. Although we have been stating the fact that we are of a peaceful nation, the A'tzugi did declare war upon us for our supplying of the A'tsuni, thereby forcing our hand into that conflict. Our gains are difficult due to the lack of rivers within that area, yet the fact still remains of our success along the A'tsuni border. I have arranged it so that our Reserves will transfer to that location and help to fortify the A'tsuni's dominance within that area.

On a seperate note, there has been considerable urging by the Kaufstaders to explore the interior of the Unknown Lands. Although we are cogniscent of their presence, our attentions within the Native tribes have barred us from joining their expidition. I await permission from Your Majesty in pursuing such a tool in advent of running out of natural resources.

This day, we discovered that the Tennessee empties into a greater river [RL Ohio River] and then into an even greater River [RL Mississippi]. From the Indians, the large river is called 'Mississippi.' I am convinced that this river is big enough to lead us to another sea. It flows southerly. Today, at the terminus of the Tennessee, I claimed all the land drained by that river for Kaufmanstad. I have called it 'New Kaufmanstad.' A storm quickly blew up and the two ships were forced to make a run for the safety of the sound on the other side of the inlet. if anyone finds this, tell the wife im sorry for not making it back. my crew, bad weather, mutiny. i crossed the land, my horse served me well. havent eaten in many days. i drank from what streams i could find. this is last entry. my hope is gone. no hope. i have nothing, but slight faith, and my horse. yes, if anyone finds this, and horse is alive, name it faith.*the now dis heartened man wrote, he rolled over and got on his knees. he said a small prayer, and then got his horse up, he put the diary in the horses saddle bag, and then got on, and began to slowly trot away. His expedition didnt share his fate, it was actually doing well. It was named New port glory, the ships out in sea didnt know what had happend, they sent supplies as they were told, but as food ran low, they set sail, away, leaving New port glory alone.*

*The settlers were doing well, they had established two cities, both were flourishing. Word was sent back to New Krieam to 'Bring women, children, gold and powder' to the new frontier.*

(ooc:Kay son, mind picking up the ex-leader of the galvesotn expedition ? it might seem like a great distance, but im sure youre patrols abound.)

OCC: Sorry Kaufmanstad for the late information. Much of the posts that Qinqarn has made along the Gulf Coast is mainly for trade and exploration rather than conquest.

Captain's Log
-- the 1-th

Today whilst sailing through the Dreaian Coast we came upon a port that did seem to have been settled in the past. Although this is virtually the same of all Dreaian villages on the Stormline, the structure here is similar to the Kmaians. I did send some sentry posts around the abandoned fort and they did stumble upon a man half dead with thirst. What little information that they got of him were of half-babbelings and some words in Kmian that I did not catch. He is currently within the hold, being tended by the ship's healer.

As for the abandoned fort, I have taken it upon myself to carve a message in rock, and placed it within the remains of the fort. Upon the message reads;

Let the High Father watch over
these poor souls whom have
drowned in the misery of fate;

Thus sayeth Captain Ghali Ghalip
Commander of the Dreaian Expidition
Quartered in Redpole Port, Muddy Water
Citizen of the Qinquarn Colony

Dreaian Coast= The Gulf Coast
Stormline= The Gulf
Redpole Port= 10 leagues west of where New Orleans is & 20 leagues SW of where the Kaufstadman expidition is
******************************
Captain Molinisk pointed to the hold. He looked around in the ship. Most of the crew had not gotten off board and seemed wary of the Kihemeanis. To them, he surmised, the Kihemians were less of what the Kaufstaders were.

Letter addressed to the Governor & Viceroy of Qinquarn

Greetings;

Redpole Port is continuing in it's mission of exploration within Stormline. We have so far mapped much of the East Dreaian Coast and have come into contact with numerous Chewies. Although our weapons making have not made progress, our firepower has. Many of the Chewies have migrated here to trade their precious goods for firepower, and a makeshift gun prototype has been developed for their use. These prototypes, unlike the three shot bow, is mostly dependent on a trigger, and the body of it has been designed on a sleeker frame.

Further details on our colony can be seen in the attached log. It is my hope that my collegue in Swampfort has meet with the success that I have seen.

Also; we have been privy to numerous rumors that a Kaufstader expidition has been sighted along the Muddy Waters. I am not too sure on how to approach their movement as well as their mistaken belief that the river is theirs. I do know that this expidition was claimed in the hopes of trade but this allowing of alien claims does pose a risk to our goals. Could you please enclose current treaties or dealings we have on this matter.

*The rancher finnaly arrived with the Poznonians at New Krieam.*
"Good day, perhaps we will meet again someday."*the rancher said, and then rode off. Then, another man walked up to them.*
"Can i interest you in some top quality goods-i..."*another man came up.*
"He is a mongerer, now i have some rings here.."*said the man, then a well dressed individual with two guards came up to the Poznonians, the traders scurried off.*
"I have heard you want to speak to our govenor, yes ?"*he asked.*

*the man awoke, he was in a strange place, a wooden place, it was rocking slowly from side to side. he poked up his head.*"A boat"*he said, and then he went back to laying down.*[that was the person i assume you picekd up, Kay Son]

"Yes, yes. Dismount and come with me, youre horses will be taken care of."
*he then escorted them to a building on the waters edge, he opened the door and poked his head in, he then opened the door widely and escorted them inside. The govenor, Victor Germogen Jr, quickl abandoned a table, on the table was a knife and fresh fish. The govenor wore fishermans clothes, they were damp, they had some fish scales, but no blood on them. he walked over to the Poznon diplomats.*
"Greetings, welcome to New Krieam, i am Victor, the acting govenor. What might i help you with ?"*he asked.*

Excerpt from the Journals of Captain Joseph Reister.
October --, 1662.

We are fortunate to have established Brunswick Post so near the Gulf of Mexico. While we wait for settlers or reinforcements, we can count on those of Kin-Karn to help us in times of dire need.

I have made the decision to send three of our party, George Barton, Jacob von Meinhultz, and Peter van den Ende back to Presidentsland. The rest of us will remain at Brunswick Post [RL New Orleans]

"Ah. I am Michael Geissel from New Poznon. We felt it would be beneficial to open up further relations with your nation. Trade is always is an excellent way to do so.

Morale high. Currently learning predicate phrases.

We have made excellent progress in mapping and exploring Pennsylvania. The area seems well-suited to settlement.

As the area is not very dangerous(We have found several old campsites) we decided to send back Captain Sherry to New Poznon so as to tell them our findings, and they may send settlers out here.

"Yes, of course, trade is always excellent. We are looking to establish good relations with our neighboors. I belive we have lived in peace for some... fifty years ? So, what goods do we have that you want ?"*he asked, extending his hand.*
Poznon
08-10-2004, 00:37
"Yes, half a century of peace.

"Unfortunetly, it escapes me what commodities your settlements produces. We, however, are in possesion of fir lumber, apples, cranberries and blueberries. New Poznon is home to many horses, as well, which we brought from the homeland years ago. Several ranches produce the highest pedigree. We also have the capacity to grow many tomatoes, but people believe they are quite lethal, as I imagine is the belief here as well. I must profess, I once tried several of the apples as a teenager on a wager, and found them quite delicious. Buit I digress."

"It seems you grow more fruits and vegtables than are commonly available here. We Kihamerians, most of us, keep it simple, plant what grows and such. We have some wheat, but mainly apples, along with some deal of cherries. We raise horses, we have very...very.. many horses, a great deal of our population lives out in ranches, where they raise horses. And swine... pigs, aswell as some beef.. i mean, cows. We, obviously, catch many fish aswell. I belive we have plenty of lumber, so nothing special there. We have salt, but i am not sure of its steady supply. Iron and coal.. well, we use most of what we mine, but we still may have some iron bars laying around. Anthing of what we have interest you ?"

Journal of Captain Srettier
Leader of Expidtionary Team 2
Redpole Port

Today it was decided by the Admiral to make contact with the Kaufstaaders. I have made it upon myself to greet them in person, although I am not too sure on how they will take my arrival in the Muddy Waters before them...

********************
Captain Srettier's dugout moved away from the brambles that covered the Muddy Waters. Before him lay a fort of some size with several men staffing the walls. Some of them caught a glance of up and called for reinforcements. Captain Srettier motioned his bo'sun to hoist the colors of the Colony to mark his good intentions.

Captain Reister and his ten men were inside the Block House when the Kin-Karners "knocked." Reister threw a musket over his shoulder to greet them.
"Hello, gentlemen. I am Captain Reister of Kaufmanstad, I have traveled overland a great distance to come here and I hope that you do not oppose our fort here."

*The Kihamerian rider from the town in Ohio quickly was able to get to Fort West, then he rode on to New Krieam, there he told the master purser of the city to send more supplies, and then he rode back off. It was quick, but meaningfull. The master purser ordered any free wagons and horses to be loaded with supplies and sent with ample ammounts of guards. The supplies were mainly food and wood, but also ropes and black powder. Women and children also accompanyed the carvan, to meet with husbands and fathers that went on ahead.*

"Ehrm... seven bushels of fruit..."*he said, thinking to himself*
"Perhaps fourteen iron bars ?"*he said.*

To respective leaders of the Kay Sun,
We are puzzeled by this soldier you found of ours. We would very much like him back, and we deeply thank you for his care. Might we send a small shcooner down south to pick him up ? And we will of course send along some two hundred gold kiha(*) for his care.

"Have you anything you would like to discuss? Boundaries? A treaty?"
Kihameria
12-10-2004, 21:16
"Yes, actually. We and the Kaufmanstaders recently laid out boundries westward, and the topic of Pennsilvanya did come up. We have sent an expedition westward, and i belive they are doing well, but it seems troublesome to move through west Virginia, since a route through Pennsilvanya would take less time. So, i am curious, does Poznon have any plans to move there, and if so, may we build a road to our colonies ot the west ?"
Kaufmanstad
13-10-2004, 00:08
Captain Reister replied, "We were unaware that anyone had yet inhabited this area of America. Thus far, we have been calling the Mississippi river Valley 'New Kaufmanstad.' What do you know of the geography?"

Meanwhile, James Addington and William van den Elder had made their way as far north as the Ohio River, where they intended to follow eastward to the Tennessee, and thusly back to Presidentsland.

Captain Srettier

"We call it the Muddy Waters. We've only concentrated on the coastal areas as well as the rivers along the coasts. From what we know- it's nothing but swamp about 30 leagues in all directions with the swamp lessening as you go west and east. There are several tribes in the local but are really hesitant in contact."

Eddington and Van den Elder have now reached the Tennessee River.

Geissel thought. "As a matter of fact, we have sent out an expedition to Pennsylvania." He had no idea of the current status of the explorers, but Geissel felt he couldn't show any weakness in front of the Kihamerian. "I believe they are making substansial progress."
__________

RATIFIED, on this --th of October 166 A.D., by the Advice of the Royal Poznon Army Captain Bronislaw Sherry, The Congress of New Poznon shall organize a company of 100 able-bodied citizens to establish a settlement in Pennsylvania, and they shall depart as soon as possible, so as to be properly settled for the winter weather.
__________

From the Journal of Henry Therry
--th of October, 1662

We have reached the river we had seen previously.[RL Harrisburg, RL Susquehana] We are still in good health and spirits, and have made excellent maps of the area.

As such, we have decided to venture back towards home. But we shall take a different route, which I am sure still leads back to New Poznon, and, will still be able to chart new land.
Kihameria

"Indeed, so Poznon does have plans. Since we have established a city, actually two, between For West and our lands westward, i will make you a proposition. We will let you have undisputed claims over Pensilvania, if you allow us a road, and possibly one small town on the south western tip of the area, i will attempt tp make it clear that there are to be no hostile actions or aggression shown towards youre peoples rule of the land. Does this suit you ?"*he asked*
