In the Thar Desert of Pakistan a targeting beacon had been set up. sixty miles away in a bunker, scientists with glasses meant to protect the eyes during an atomic bomb detonation watched through a shielded vision slit.

Miles away, in the Zagros mountains of Parthia, a very large ICBM was being prepared. The silo doors were opening wide as the missile began to activate boosters and race into the sky. The weapon exited the athmosphere and then, the reentry vehicle descended exactly onto the beacon, exploding 5 kilometers above the earth.
