The PASOK reforms.

Nikolaos The Great

The Greek Assembly, Athens

"Now that my party, PASOk, won the elections the government will remain socialist. We are going to propose more issues. For one thing I will try to double the Assembly so I can lower the power of those few Assembly members. It will cost around 2 million USD to reconstruct the Assembly so it can support the extra 200 Assembly members. I will also try to move a few military bases to our northern borders. Not only that but I will declare a full reconstruction of our air force and navy.

We will also start public projects so the unemployment, which is around 1%, can have jobs. The public projects will consist of many constructions of bridges between Central Greece and Peleponiso. We will make better roads and make new airports and upgrade our railroads.

We will also support national industries so our economy can remain strong.

There are also a few of you wondering what I would do about the issue concerning the stability in the Balkans. Well I will get the Emperor to ally with the Generic empire again since they have a new emperor now. I will also work with the foreign minister and the Emperor on making the Balkan Alliance stronger and making relations with Euroslavia better. That is all for today.

I am looking forward to building a better and stronger nation! Thank you."

PASOK Reforms Bad News For Investors, Economy
John Meyes, sidebar article, The Republic Magazine

If you have money in Greece, get it out of there now. Reading between the lines of the PASOK leader's statement, expect a tax hike to pay for all those subsidies and investment projects. Unemployment is dangerously low at 1% already, but the socialist government intends to lower it even further with massive public works projects. Watch out for a poor standard of labour on transport construction, and the inevitable inflation that comes with such low jobless figures.

I think you know nothing about economics or about Greece. The magazine that hired you should fire you right away or they might lose readers. Greece's unemployment rate was always 1% and these projects will GIVE jobs to them. How the hell will it make more people unemployed? Who said anything about raising the taxes? The government is going to fund these projects. Unlike from the nation you come from we can have a strong economy.

Pacitalia

Pacitalia contains 154 million Greeks (July 2004 census est.). It is one of the largest ethnic groups in Pacitalia. I myself am part-Greek. Our national news network, PNN, has done a survey, and 75% of citizens do not approve of any socialist uprisings in Greece.

However, they are overwhelmingly willing to create a diplomatic alliance to join the Greeks of my country with yours.

I and many other of my countrymen disagree with your socialist policies but we are willing to work out some sort of diplomatic partnership.

Any Greek is welcomed to Greece! They can get Greek citizenship as long as they have Greek blood in them. Also Greece has always been a socialist since IHSP came to power and further back. Except for the times ND was in power. Then we had pure democracy.

I do not intend to create an immigratorial type of alliance. By diplomatic, I mean a relationship to further promote the lifestyle, well-being and culture of the Greek people.

The letter is printed in The Republic Magazine, above an article from a bitter and put-out Meyes.

Privately, the PASOK leader is invited to a small reception in the Thracian Embassy. Off the record, it is to celebrate the Greek politician's "scoring one against that right-wing nut".
