Alternative Energy Source Discovered!

------Rebepacitopian News Network (RNN)-----------------
...This just in. The commision for the Advancement of Science has discovered an alternative energy source that will replace gasoline. This source is an anti-matter based module that repeatedly annihilates positive and negative particles (-spin 1.5) allowing an incremental anti-material gain. This remainder then annihilates producing energy. "This is the most revolutionary discovery made in our nation's history" says Physicist Mark Reinman.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

As you can see, our nation has just released an alternative energy source, anti-matter (with special containment module for particle annihilation). If you would like to purchase this technology, please state so.

The price: $3.4B

The Nation of Margorn will not purchuse such a power source until it has been test and proven to be safe for the envioment and, more importantly, living beings. Margornian Military Engineers and Strategists are also wondering if this new anti-matter could be used for other things, such as weapons.

Are we to understand that this power source will be used in civilian vehicles?

OOC: Dang trekkies.

The New Commonwealth is content with nuclear power and reprocessing plants.

All of your concerns are warranted.

Anti-matter (when properly handled) can be fairly-stable. The world all around you is comprised of positive matter. When negative (Anti-matter) matter is introduced (in a contained area) they simply cancel each other out (-1+1=0), the remainder is energy (such as heat, atomic energy,etc.). This is incredibly fuel efficient, and safe. One nation inquired as to its capability as a weapon. Anti-matter CAN be made into a WMD (We have an enormous Anti-matter Weapon), we will not share this technology (we have no military, this will have to suffice).
The product has been well researched and has been quite successful throughout our country (As well as those of our allies).

Margorn is gracious that Rebepacitopia was kind enough to share their discovery of this new energy source, however, Margorn will continue to observe how other use this power source and how it affects the "positive matter" that makes up this planet.

(OCC: I was under the impersion that anti-matter was too dangerous to keep within a atomosphere. Then again I'm not much of a science fiction buff.)

Thank you for your understanding.
Were Anti-matter overly-devastating, we would all be dead by now. This technology has been well-researched, tested, and observed.

This technology appears to be anti-entropic and therefore a futuretech godmod. not that there's anything wrong with it, as long as people understand that you have a way to create energy from nothing.

OOC:

Huh? Anti-entropic? Whats entropic?

How is this god-modding? We already have produced anti-matter on Earth, even for nano-seconds a couple years ago, IIRC.

What's godmodding is that it's anti entropic (violates the laws of entropy: Law 1- there is no free lunch, Law 2- You can't get ahead, you can only break even, law 3- you can't break even). He's creating energy. He stated at the end of every reaction he ends up with a surplus of antimatter, which seems to me to be stating that you end up with more energy than you put into the system. And if it's not anti entropic (ie, not godmodding), then it's simply a net energy sink because you need to put more energy in than you get out, like everything in the real world. SInce antimatter is so much more difficult to contain than conventional fuels, it's pointless, and adds an extra step in the energy transfer process, which in turn makes it ultimately less efficient.

I am afraid you are mistaken. One, this is in no way anti-entropic. As I am sure you know, antimatter is created through a series of intricate collisions between particles. Once the particles collide they produce a positron and an antimatter particle. The antimatter can be isolated for a period before it deteriorates. I can guarantee you that this is not a fictitious concept, NASA is experimenting with antimatter propellants. One billionth of a gram of antimatter is powerful enough to produce 560,000MeV (mega electron volts) upon annihilating. This would be ample enough to power the United States for two days.

The Big Long Now Energy Commission would like to purchase this technology for further studies.

We have wired the $3.4 billion to your financial agency.

I have one concern though. What's to stop antimatter from becoming WMD's, or an accident befalling an antimatter power plant? Then antimatter could vaporize enormous tracts of your continent, turning them into large craters or lakes. Or completely vaporize islands like Japan, Hawaii, or England.

At any rate, I'm interested in purchasing this technology to research as energy sources. My nation devotes considerable resources towards energy technology research, and I don't believe in WMD's. My nation has no nuclear, biological, or chemical weapons programs, as I believe they are colossal wastes of money and resources to research, build, and maintain.

I am willing to wire $10 billion for this technology.

Best Regards,
President Rand Veristek

1 gram also takes several trillion dollars to make...

Not to mention this turns everyday cars into tactical nuclear weapons. If that containment field fails in a crash, that car's vaporizing everyone within a hundred yards.

This is future tech, and therefore godmodded. Do we use antimatter now? No. Why? Because it's hugely expensive and almost impossible to contain.

If it's not anti entropic, then that means you're using more than 560000MeV of energy to MAKE that antimatter. Where is that energy coming from, and why use the extra expencive, inefficient step of turning it into antimatter and back again?

OOC: Since I know jack about anti-matter or science in general, I'm going to wait till someone agrees this is godmodding because from the arguments on the floor, it seems like godmodding.
