Fate of the Nation-RP/Conflictgame (Invitation/OOC-thread)

Hello you all NS roleplaying and wargaming enthusiastics. I´m trying a new format of game, and would like to invite people to give it a shot. Concept of the game is adversial wargame/rp, conducted by you as commanders of various forces in both sides of the conflict (and possibly UN). Sounds familiar from regular wargames/rp´s? Yes, but this time you issue the orders secretly to me by TG, or if you absolutely want your opponents to know them, in RP-thread. After I have recieved all orders in certain timelimit, I´ll execute the orders in Operation Flaspoint. So, your troops really do go out there, and conduct the reconnaissance at the area you order, or attack the town, raid enemy depot et cetera.

I´ll make the list of quick orders, so you can make decisions easier, and even issue backup orders in case something unexpected happens. Here your own decisions may influence the outcome, and there can be no godmodding as losses are result of tactics and support issued by real you.

This is still at development stage, but hopefully it bears fruit in near future.
And here is the background to conflict.

Place is archipelago south of Land of Mordor, populated by Bigtopian-minority
deported from Rubberduckistan as measure to give them their own land.
Rampant corruption and economic depression has caused uprisings at western parts of Tonal, and areas breadbasket Tonali has fallen to rebels completely.

And more through background also.

Greetings.

I would like to participate in this thread. However, I would prefer doing defensive warfare, as my nation doesn't believe in warmongering.

Ditto, I like to fight defensively if at all possible.

Seems like you need a warmonger, thus I'll join.
Um, you do realize that Mordor is a name for LotR. Is this somehow related or did you just come up with a random name off the top of your head?

After reading the Lord of the Rings twenty times, I think I know. ;) That´s the name of my region, nothing to do with LotR, except that we few who live there, use Middle-Earth map in case of conflict. :)

For clarification of the game. Your national armies do not participate in this conflict. You are to play as commanders of various government or guerrila units, handle their finances, and with your actions decide who rules Tonal.
This is kept small-scale for few reasons. First, OFP-engine can not handle very large battles, and I don´t have time to make them quickly. Company-level engagement can be done quickly, and fought in hour or so. If the situation comes to that I can´t handle all the battles, I also have alternative method to resolve them, yet retain the tactical element.

Pros and cons of sides

Government:
-Better equipment from start.
-Steady funding, with possibility to increase it. But can also be cut
by guerrila actions.
-Need for cooperation, since someone else controls the assets
you may need in your actions.

Guerrilas:
-Hard to destroy permanently, can blend to civilian population.
-Funding hard from start, you need to create some form of income.
(There will be game mechanics for this. Can be cut by government
actions.)
-Autonomy of action. You command all your own forces, and cooperation
with other factions is decided how good you can convince them. There
can be guerrila vs guerrila fighting.
-You can recruit other players as your sub-commanders, if they come to
game later, or convince them to join your guerrila movement.

This is internal conflict, so there are no NS-governments involved per se.
You can conduct operations as you see fit, but purely waiting defense will
not give the victory. Government is the defender, guerrilas attacker, since they need to topple the goverment and take the capital city, Tatu. There can be raids, attacks to take cities, psychological warfare, humanitarian missions, assasinations, spying, drug-smuggling, gun-running. In short, you are playing single officer, or small group if there is not enough players to fill positions, who can be corrupted, idealistic, what ever suits your fancy, and decide fate of Tonal. Will you pilfer the money needed to fund army, or will you try coup d´etat and set yourself as president, or are you ardent defender of current goverment?

Hmm... this keeps getting more and more interesting.

I'm curious, what is this OFP game engine you're talking about?

I guess I'll be a heroic officer leading a band of gurreillas then. :p

Operation Flashpoint is first person tactical game, with possibility to use tanks, apc´s, helicopters, aircraft, and boats. It is more on realistic side, and death can come quickly for those who play Battlefield or Counter-Strike style.

On the other hand, if there is only two or three players, it´s easier for me to handle, but game might lose some of in-fighting flavor. Though I might bring that up with random events. :)

Any sites or places I can look up this OF game?

http://ofp.gamezone.cz/index.php?newlang=eng Here is a good one, with links to other related sites.

Looks like, there is not much interest in this type of game, but we´ll see. :)

And few pics made with screenshots from game.
