(OOC)

I have no idea what I'm going to do with this roleplay, or if it will resort to conflict. *Watches sadly as everyone leaves thread* Ok, it might resort to conflict....afterwards.

Anywho, the general theme: a new president is here, Mark Hanelis, having won the closest election in the history of Zoogiedom, and dead set on making the most sweeping and radical changes to Zoogiedom and launching these plans immediately. Meanwhile, the one-electoral-point loser, the centrist, the 'unifier', is bitter and believes the election was illegit. (Which, by the way, it wasn't, he's just a sore loser).

A lot is going to happen internally. Feel free to join in. Please :) I don't know where this will go, but it's going nowhere without participation, in some way shape or form. Change is in the air, and it's going to be more of a nasty shock than Callahan's torching of the cherished option system in Lincoln.

I won't make an IC post just yet; we're going to start off with the news (broadcast worldwide of course; it's a small world, after all) of the new president being elected. Roleplay as anybody or anything you wish (with certain limits - no omg n00kz0r, for instance, please) and we'll see where this goes.

So, they'd been honeymooning in The Zoogie People when the news was announced that Mark Hanelis had won the election.

The Nation of Almendrastan recognizes you as the Zoogie Peoples choice leader. However this 'unifier' believes that democracy has failed this time. Perhaps we would like to hear a statment from the 'unifier' as to why he feels like he has been treaty unjustly.

Barnsowrth

Harrison Barnsworth was furious. He had the election won, in his grasp, and it slipped out of his hands by fourteen votes. It had been recounted, time and time again, and each time it again arrived at fourteen votes. This was not fair. He knew he deserved to be president. He would lead the nation to might, whereas this Hanelis fool was a petty libertarian extremist.

He stepped out onto the podium to face his supporters. It was inaugural day, and it was time to quit playing political and docile.

"I feel sorry for this country," he announced, to mixed reactions. "We had progressed so far, and we had the chance to finally balance things out, and yet now we sink back into partisianship and extremism. This is one of the wors t things to ever happen to our country.

"In the past two months, I have played the role of a nice loser, although this election was so ridiculously close that the the definition of 'loser' became fudgy. This ends now. I would like to announce my open denunciation of Mark Hanelis and his policies, which will drive our nation into a schism, and into the darkest times we have known since the revolution.

"I will be brief today, only to make my message clear: the sooner this bastard is out of office, the better!"

Hanelis

"Ooh, that was harsh," said Mark Hanelis evenly.

"Harsh?" raved his personal advisor. "That was heresy! I would watch out for yourself, Mr. President, this guy's a nutcase."

"Maybe so." He smiled. "No, we should probably work up a response, shouldn't we?"

The Response

Presidential Press Release ----

We regret to see that the honourable Governor Barnsworth is unable to accept a valid and closely analyzed election. We also would like to question his general title of 'unifier' as a result of his recent actions. What has been set in the stone will remain that way, and if you feel the way you do, the seat will be yours to take in four years.

Seeds of dissent

Barnsworth had not been a happy man ever since the election, and he was decending into misery. All of this fierce emotion he channeled into hate for the man that had defeated him, and the government which he now represented.

"Marvin, I cannot stand another day of the bastard being president," he said to his secretary in a pained tone. "There has to be something we can do."

His secretary responded in an unusually harsh tone. "No, Governor. You know as well as I do that rebelling is a foolish idea. Calm yourself."

So he is on to me... Barnsworth grimaced to himself and did not discuss the matter further.

Let the reforms begin!

The changing of the guard could not be more clear - just three days after being inaugurated, President Hanelis has already pushed to vote several key proposals in Congress, which he hopes are passed by week's end. No leader has ever acted so quickly to push the nation to reform.

The government's role in public has been scaled back considerably with two series of proposals: the first, to cut the size of the government and gradually relay such tasks as banking, medicare and schooling to private enterprise systems supervised nationally; the second, which ties in with the first, to gradually cut taxes from its current state at 38% down to under 16% and reduce the graduation of them. Taxes would be retained at the moment to pay off the national debt and for transitional purposes.

In addition, another string of proposals would reduce the size of the military and increase the efficiency of things. Hanelis has also made clear the separation of church and state and with all due respect to religion, has moved a motion to halt government funding of religion by twelve months.

Hanelis has also made steps in foreign policy; he has announced a proposal for a pact of the Isles to make official an alliance between them and set up free trade; and in a move that has been interpreted in very different forms, he has announced his intention to pursue individual alliances between nations rather than commit Zoogiedom to a myriad of alliances and surrender more and more of its sovereignty meaninglessly.

Of Alliances and Such

It was the ninth day of his presidency now, which was still young, but already a controversial series of bills had been passed through Congress - with stunning ease. President Hanelis was a particularly convincing and emotional speaker, and also very well read in the area of politics which had lead him to develope his views. He was now readying for the speech of a lifetime - in a single speech and with the signing of a single document, he would make one of the most profound changes to Zoogiedom foreign relations.

"My fellow citizens, and nations of the world," he began. "In the recent past, our nation has committed itself to various alliances, which in all common sense, is excessive. That is not to say, though, that making international friends is not to be promoted; rather, becoming members of too many alliances and giving up too much of our sovereignty is a serious and grave error. With individual nations, our relations will be retained, but the need for Zoogiedom to be a member of several alliances that we are in...is unnecesary.

"And so today I am announcing the sweeping withdrawal of Zoogiedom from the New Alliance Treaty Organization (NATO), the Organization of Maritime Powers (OMP), the League of Hanseatic States (LHS), IADF, and officially end the membership of Zoogiedom in the apparently defunct Legion of Defense (LoD)."

He stepped back slightly to indicate that his speech was ended, and turned to the press for what was sure to be a dizzying mass of questions.

Sitting by his desk Dr.Grid Vincent gazed into the nightsky past the stars and moon through the deep blue hue that greeted him and he pondered. A document sat waiting for him by his laptop informing him of the monumental changes facing the Zoogie People. Once upon a time he was that man defeated by the narrowest of margins. Once he was the man filled with rage and anger at his loss. Now he was a pillar of his land. He was the power and the glory.

Why?

Because he was saved by his own guiding light. Shown the way by his mentor he was given the financial and physical tools to take power once more. Oh how things changed overnight. This was not a physical revolution or change of power oh no. A few scandals a little bit of blackmail and a few 'hits' and it was all over. Now it was his time to be the guiding light.

He picked up his mobile phone and dialled in the number and waited for Harrison Barnsworth to pick up........

Barnsworth [Maslawyia]

He picked up the phone, still in the same aggravated and grumpy mood he had been in before. 'Hello?' he barked for no reason in particular.

Hanlies [Crookfur, Celack]

And indeed the tirade of questions came. 'Is there any specific reason for pulling out of NATO?' asked one reporter. 'It has been cited in many cases to be the most successful alliance endeavor in Zoogiedom's history, including the CAP.'

'Well,' began Hanelis. 'We hold most or all of the nations in NATO in highest esteem. However, we feel that membership in NATO has become a status symbol and applying to join has become a fad. Our intel service lines have been working overtime to cover the applications. All in all, despite NATO's benefits, we feel that seeking individual alliances with their founding and current members is a more viable option at this point in time.'

Sorry Celack, I owe you an explanation. OOCly, I just don't have time to go to five separate alliance forums.

'So under your new policies, it is now against the rules, so to speak, to join an alliance?' asked another.

'Not at all. The Council of Air Powers is one alliance that we are still in, as that alliance has as much to do with the furthering of aerial technology and mutual partnerships in the aerospace industry as it does with a bond of alliance between nations. We are however, looking to restructure it as the Council has become less active of late. In addition, we are looking to revive the Zoogie Isles pact, which has recently been gradually phased out of use. Any other questions?'

'Yes, Mr. President. Wouldn't this cause controversy?'

'A lot of things cause controversy, and it doesn't mean they shouldn't be done.'

'Is there any chance of re-entering any of these alliances?'

'No, I'm afraid not. Not much has actually changed as we are still tied in alliance to many of these nations; we are simply no longer part of the alliance and no longer subject to its charter. It is not that we disagree with those, but we do not see any specific benefits of membership. And, as evidenced by the 73% congressional vote, neither does the Congress.'

Unknown Mountain Top in Caucasass Mountains, Truitt
Don Angelo, thought to be dead by many, was sitting in a hide-away camp site in an unknown area in the Caucasass Mountains.

He was very cold even under the many coats, and the blizzard winds and snow filled up his glasses and new goggles which allowed him to see through the snow. He had still not gotten used to the whole change from tropical Windsong to cold Farway.

After a few minutes of looking over the side of the mountain, he turnned to one of his supervisors. "Get me Gerald." he said to the man. "Yessir." the young Italian siad very quickly.

After seeing the young man run into the larger of the tents, he walked into one of the smaller ones, the closest one to him, his private one. Seeing inside, it was clean and dry. He got in quickly and sealed the openning, turnned on the thread line, and the whole mini-house started to warm up.

In a few minutes, he got a bleep from his desk. He pciked it up, and it was the man. "Sir, I have Mr. Fontair on the phone."
"Put him through." he replied in a raspy Sicilian acsnet.

A few secounds pasted with a few thumps and bleeps, then a single strong and firm voice said "Hello."

"Gerald, how are you? It is Enzo. I just got done talking to Steven and his group, they are already in the system and due for launch on Sunday. So, how are the kids?"

"Just fine, Rachel has just been put through law school, and of cource Jamie and her crazy ideals are still shooting for a Marine spot, same old. So Steven finally got through? Good. A good chance to make the new hot shot look bad."

"Well, they should have an easy time, isn't Steven and Angel highly ranked in your terms?" Enzo Angleo asked him unaware of the Zoogiedom ranking system.

"Yes, Admirals are very high ranked, conpair us to your Capitons." he replied back mockingly.

"Ahh I see. Well then, all is at plan."

The two then staretd to ramble on about sertain politics, future plans, some future ideas for each other, and so on.

Uncharted Base On and Uncharted Island
The ZMS Hornberry was just finished refitting when Jimmy Sanders stepped onboard. His newly assigned Admirals Badge and ranking lines on his shoulder shinned with glee.

The Hornberry was not even fully equipped with aircraft, just thirty TF-55D Merlin Hawk drones that came with it from the Truitti shipyards, which could all be controlled by the Command Tower. The overall crew was made of people who was loyal to Sanders and his friend, Admiral Chucky Rodgers.

After the full refit was done, they left the port and was supposed to set sail for a larger Zoogiedom base, but was not seen at due time, lost from all tracks, even communication.

(on Truitt's post) - This was discussed over IM so it's pre-approved.

There were only two liberators in service in all of the Zoogie military, and with downsizing again, both were slated for decomission in less than ten years. However, they were still part of the system, and anything that went arbitrarily missing was immediately noticed.

Suffice it to say that a large battleship's total disappearance did not go unnoticed, and caused alarm through the chains of command. Within minutes, an aide was carrying the news to Chief Admiral and naval chief of staff Gately, catching him as he left his office to the 'war room' as they called it.

'Admiral, sir? Could you spare a minute?'

'Yes,' said the admiral. 'But make it quick...I've got to check up on the Lashugese war.'

'Sir,' said the aide in a low voice. 'Hornberry's gone missing. It's a Liberator. Set off on sail several hours ago, didn't make the first checkpoint and disappeared off all communications. Our satellites can't exactly scan in on it, could be anywhere. Lots of shipping and allied naval activity in the vicinity, finding it will take a long time.'

'What?' the Admiral said, exasperated. He was not in the mood for this. 'Find it.'

'The thing is, sir, if it went straight out to sea, god knows where it is right now.'

'Are you telling me,' hissed Gately, 'That we have a hijacked dreadnought?!'

'It could be, sir, we don't know. Or it could be electronical failure.'

Gately grimaced. 'Send the nearest two battle groups scanning the area, get the coast guard on the job, and scramble any idle satellites to the task...see if anything was covering the port when it left and track its movements. Whatever you do, Find it.'

Intel - 80 minutes later

'Alright, here's the satellite imaging,' announced Ray Arnold, who had quickly gathered the satellite data and managed to find the relavant scans. 'The liberator left port here, and everything is fine and dandy. After about seventy-five minutes, it makes an erratic turn out to sea, and at about the same time we lose all contact with it.'

'Hijacking?'

'That's what it looks like. How, I don't know. Whatever it is, we've got a narrower range to look for it in. The satellites probably won't have luck finding it, but you never know...the battle groups, however, should be able to close in...if we're lucky. Come on, people, we've lost an hour and a half's worth of leads. Let's report these to the big guys over at Jaganda.'

Jaganda, Capitol City

'So,' said Defense secretary Brian Dredon slowly. 'We have a rogue, possibly hijacked battleship that could be anywhere, having left Zoogie waters, with next to no way to track it.'

'That's about right, sir.'

'Brilliant. I want you to get several tiltrotors and C-2s, fly them as quickly as possible to those two battle groups to deliver fresh and ready marines and troops. If this is a hijacked situation, we need to be more than ready.

Open Sea, entering International Waters - 45 minutes later

'Cat one!'

The roar of jet engines filled the air as the nose of a menacing F/A-18 Hornet tipped down on the deck of one of the carriers dispatched to search for the rogue. White steam billowed out from the rear, almost sheilding the glow of the afterburners as the steam catapults propelled the recon fighter forward and off the deck.

'Viper one, airborne, inbound to waypoint alpha. Good hunting.'

It was already several hours after the Liberator had gone missing, and now the first wave of aircraft patrols was being sent forth to scour the seas comprehensively and give a report on the battleship's coordinates, if found.

The Hornets travelled in squadrons of four, and two of the four were armed - just in case.

'Viper two, airborne. Forming up - let's roll.

Of Nuclear Warfare

The first two weeks of President Hanelis's term had come to a close, and it had been the most reform-ridden weeks in the history of Zoogiedom. Every one of his proposals thus far have passed, and now both the president and the congress would cease the relentless onslaught of legislation, both because the already passed legislation was sufficient and long-term, and because they both needed a break.

However, Hanelis had one more bill to propose, and today in Congress he put forth the bill, proposing the four year systematic elimination of nuclear weapons in their entirety from the Zoogiedom military.

OOC: Nukes ruin roleplays and I have no interest in roleplaying with nuclear weapons.

Huzzah for Zoogie!

We are very happy with your decision to eliminate your nuclear stockpiles. After all, nuclear weapons are a somewhat pointless weapon. If you ever use them, you will be totally and utterly destroyed by retaliation. Not only do you totally eliminate all hope for peace for the next few hundred years, but you also end all dissent in the target nation, because those most likely to survive are the high government officials.

OOC: Alrighty, since your not on AIM I will just do a small aiding RP and a RP of thier direction (Remember, when Truitt broke, a lot of records were lost, I mean a lot).

IC:

Farway City, Farway Province, Truitt
"Sir, welcome to Xiocon Two Mr. Presidente." the computer said as Presidente Enzo O'Conner walked in with his I.D. badge which sent information to the computer about him, his likes in temperture, and everything of convinance.

Xiocon (Pronoused ZEEO-con) was where all information and alerts of Truitti-Sold Weapons that maybe of harm to Truitt herself, or her allies.

"Mr. Presidente, we have a rough Liberator Ultriss-Type Carrier. It was set for manned decommisioning with only fifty of our drone TF-55 Merlin Hawks. It however is armed, reports say it has multiple missles loaded in storage and in the nine missle pods, along with a good supply of anti-target missles, bombs, and torpedoes. It is a Zoogie ship, they call it the Hornberry," at the saying of the ship's name he gives a smile. Funny obviously.

"Well, I take it it is hijacked? If so, why not activate SPAICON?" Presidente O'Conners asked. SPAICON was SPy And Intelligance CONnector. It was implated in all ally-sent exports in ships and heavy hazards such as fighters and bombers. This was to insure in the case of corruption, break, or anythign else, Truitt could track it.

"We have, it is located under some encampment in the middle of the pacific, near the Spartys. It seems to be an old maintance bay, it is our design, maybe a pre-break base that was lost in the war." the Generali replied back.

Showing the picture, it was the shape of the United States' White House, but the size of the Pentagon for just half a wing. It was large enough to hold a Liberator, and there were small dots around it, fighters.

"The Zoogie People would never find it, and since it is in Sparty Territory, they would not find it, ether satellite or patrol." the Generali said once the presidente put the pictures back down.

"Well, how would these hijackers know of the base then? And what is it?" he asked the Generali which was looking down in a slum.

"That was an Angelo Rig." he said plainly. Angelo and Associates was the company which the former presidente, Presidente Matthew Angelo, rulled and broke Truitt into utter peices of anarchy and war, making the so called "perfect" government of Commarchy fall forever.

"How come we did not know about this rig?" he asked. Angelo and Associates made thier deep-sea items, expecially oil platforms, military dockable mainly becouse they had the power of the whole government to protect thier platforms, and more than likely, there were a few weapons there, maybe even a netting and Hydrocaster (A series of CAPTOR mines paired into four, two for surface attack and two for submarine attack, ultimate unmanned sea defence next to under-piping).

"It was one of their secret things, and since it is located in the Lesser Spartys, we probably did not know it was there ether." the Generali said. The Lesser Spartys were located right in the middle of the Sparty Island Chain, surrounded by the larger islands, and this platform could have been mistaken for an island by satellite easily.

The Liberator was found, but what to do was the question. The new Heloist an Truitt was not ready for an international incident in thier own waters, but how the Liberator got through the naval patrols was simple: They had some power in the military in both Zoogiedom and Truitt.

Oil Platform "Hopewell" in Lesser Spartys
The Liberator sat there. The crew awaiting the ship was repainting the whole vessel in Truitti colorings, and the drone TF-55A Merlin Hawks were being replaced with manned TF-55D Merlin Hawks, and instead of just fifty, the whole reserve of 340 wer being loaded on, all fully armed with Truitti Satellite-Guided missles.

The crew just thinking that they had thier mission changed on short notice was taken off the ship at gun point as the many Sparti armed forces slwoly came on to take power, they obviously were from the Set'Kurve Terror Group, too much knowledge on the Truitti craft.

The two Admirals left onboard, the only origanal crewmen stood, smilling. They looekd as the Zoogiedom crew was halted off, to a holding ring inside the factoring bay, where more than likely, they will be used for hostages for money or something else of value.

After the full refit, no one would know of the past origan of the Liberator as it set for sail at Zoogie, but this time as a Truitti craft attacking a heavily populated city.

Just as the two turnned into the ship for a good night's rest, the name and tag ZMS Hornberry 083 was being painted over, TNS Presence P01, the name and call number of the leading Pacific Liberator

"Unfortunately, I've no influence over the media. Such things are looked upon with disgust, and if I ever suggested it, not only would I probably be rebuked, but they would probably showcase it to the public. Free media is a very...important thing over here, unfortunately."

Crookfur and LRR

Yeah, with the budget cuts and all I figured nukes would just drain up precious defense money anyways. Crookfur, I don't think it's going to hurt your company that much, cuts are mainly personell...

Open Sea

The fighter squadrons returned crestfallen with no success. They had been several hours late, and the seas were too big, too open to have hope for finding the rogue.

The alarming news already had hit the media and was at everyone's attention, while more and more battle groups prowled the area, readying for the worst.

Lethislavania

In a separate announcement, President Hanelis today officially ended the protectarateship of Lethislavania to Zoogiedom. Lethislavania had grown and prospered while it was a Zoogie protectorate, and had not been in need of much aid at all from the Zoogiedom government. Granting full sovereignty now was little more than setting what was already nearly common practice into parchment.

Both leaders hope for a continuation of cordial relations, and Zoogiedom has offered a full withdrawal of military presence there should Lethislavania desire it.

With a quick bleep of the phone he quickly picked up, "Steven?" he asked franticly. It was his aid, just checking in.

A few minutes pasted and an other call, this time it was Steven.

"So, your at the rig? Good, you will not be detected until you leave under your refit and paint correct? Good. Now, after the repaint and everything, I want the lowest officals, mainly cooks and janitors, killed. Tell the rest to behave of die too. As to the higher officals, we can use them as hostages. Two mintues later
A few minutes pasted of silence. After a quick thought, the phone rang.

"Hello, 'tis Angelo." he said picking it up.

"Ahh, senator how are you?" he asked

"Fine, how is the whale doing? Is it out of harm's way?" a voice replied.

The "whale" was the codename for the Liberator. "Of cource, it is located just east of Australia in a New Zealand off-shore base. If anyone comes, it will give in with out a fight, orders were given so." Angelo smilled as they finished the conversation.

"Oh yes the media must be free of course it must be and thats why it can be a beautiful if not dangerous creature. What could your opponent do if a revelation was made about him through the media,"the Prime Minister smiled to himself," The media are like sharks when they smell blood well you know what happens next. Do you understand what I am getting at? The right story under the right circumstances will send the media into a frenzy over their new so called leader."

"Oh, I've gone that route during the campaign. Trust me, I'm good at this stuff - I levelled that idiot Mikhanovich and brought down the Liberal party candidate very early on so that he wasn't even a major player at all. And towards the end, I destroyed the socialist Senator, Fontair, who was expected to take a bigger chunk of the popular vote on election day. And don't think I didn't try to bring down Hanelis, too, but it just isn't possible. Would you believe it, the man never drank, never smoke, and never did anything remotely scandalous." He sighed, and then was struck by an idea. "Of course, I could try to forge something about him."

Lesser Spartys, Sparty islands
The Liberator, now in all dark blue with a small lgiht blue stripe down its sides blazed out of the platform's top where it finally saw the moonless night on the secound day of being in the platform.

The writings and craft onboard where now defenatly Truitti, and it appeared to be the Presence, with the only downfall beign it had Merlin Hakws in it and not the mysterious craft that has filled most Truitti forces in the past months.

Its destination, unknown.

Capital House, Raptior, Truitt
Presidente O'Conners looked through all fo the papers comming in from the Zoogie People.

"Lord, we don't need this crap." he muttered to himself. "Sir?" his Councilari asked. "Get me the Black Box, I need to write this rookie." he replied. "Yessir." she said quickly.

He sat down by the jet black typewriter and got to work.

To: Zoogie People's New President

I see that you have a problem on your hands, and it seems to be one of our greatest ships ever constructed. The current idea of the area of the Liberator is close to the Sparty Island Chain, which we own. We have already set out the 3rd Liberator Fleet and 3rd Aegir Fleet out in search in a wide turf We however have put orders of only to attack if it attacks us.

In responce, we have set all Pacific-Sight satellites in action and soon we expect to find it. We hope this is nothing more than a misunderstanding, but in the case it is not, we can help bring it back in one piece.

I hope this opens back up our arms of our once great allied relations.

Barnsworth [Maslawyia]

Good stuff :) Okay, I just want to clarify that this has to either be botched or not have serious effects on my new president, because he's a character that I like. There will most likely be conflict involving the sore loser but he won't turn the whole nation against the president.

Barnsworth had several good contacts in the army, and in the past two weeks had assembled many loyalties and made many friends. He smiled as the number of subordinates that were tied to those loyal to him grew to over a hundred and fifty thousand.

"Thank you, Dr. Vincent, I will be working on an event," he said, and hung up.

What could make the blood of Zoogies boil? He smiled as he opened his notebook and scribbled in the answer - Hanelis threatened voters and forged ballots. Nothing was worse in the eyes of the people than a man consumed by desire for power, and that was the card he would play.

Barnsworth was too eager, excited, and hell-bent on destroying his rival to see through his own hypocrisy. He picked up the phone again to inform Dr. Vincent of the idea and what would be required. How hard could it be?

Taqyrs

Out from the edge of Taqyrs Harbour from the Isles Tagyr (the names are often, often confused) the sea extended for thousands of miles, direct from the direction the military harbour faced. The Isles Tagyr marked the only other Zoogie land that covered and protected Zoogiedom from external invasion, aside from the very strategically located and highly fortified Three Islands in the East.

The Liberator made the move to approach by the Isles Tagyr and move to strike at a nearby city. The fact that this operation was not backed by an extensive, up-to-date intelligence network was evident; to send one ship (even a dreadnought) to try to attack Zoogiedom was suicide; but maybe that was the objective: to strike as much damage as possible.

Yet here was home to the most elite military and paramilitary units in all of Zoogiedom, in all branches and in the logistics department. OOC - Similar in concept to Raysia's Elders Everything was the best, starting from the man and then extending to the equipment. If the Tagyrs used the F-16, the per-unit price would exceed a hundred million dollars.

The funds invested in the oft-nicknamed 'Uber Forces' was well spent, and this its first major test. It was also the test of a new philosophy that had started with the election of William Ciel some twelve years prior and the fall of socialism in Zoogiedom - smaller, better-trained, technologically advanced units could hold its own just as well and more so than large conscripted armies.

The Ship

"We have an unknown ship inbound. Trade routes and military cruises don't check. Manual check advised."

"Copy. Smash the Big Eye onto it."

The Big Eye, as it was called, was a powerful Tagyrs operated satellite complemented by several small ones, and often proved crucial to separate intelligence and military operations. 'Smash' was an obscure and really quite odd colloquial term that meant delegating the task of observation to the satellite.

"Find its bearings. I want to know where it came from."

"Yes'm."

"Perc-"

"Yes'sir."

The Tagyrs

Two squadrons of ZaS-42s and one squadron of ZaS-27s were sent up into the air, and much in advance of them flew swarms of standard naval F-18s to circle around the ship, which they arrived at soon enough. Transmissions were relayed to the ship, as followed -

Alert, alert -

You are fast approaching the waters of the Isles and of the Lands of Zoogiedom. Be advised that you are not verified and are hereby ordered to leave, or you shall be made to. Rest assured that resistence to this is futile. State your whereabouts, bearings, sources, and intentions, and turn astern.

Even as this was said frigates, destroyers, and cruisers began to stream towards the ship as quickly as possible, armed and deadly. The stealthy and extensively upgraded Tagyrs aircraft lurked behind, slowly circling within range.

The reply was received eight minutes later.

Go screw yourselves.

Hope you don't mind, Truitt ;)

The same message was immediately retransmitted then, with an added line - 'Understand the urgencies of this request. Pray merry, be wise.' The next response, already being readied, would not be so kind.

The Liberator's reply was quick:

You're not the boss of me, doth say our ship's captain with glee.

Immediately another message was fired back at them, predrafted with several additions. In the meantime, the fighter pilots got a good look at the ship, the paint scheme, and just about everything they needed to know about the 'Presence.'

We have warned you, time and time again, to not screw with us, for you evidently do not know who you are dealing with. You have NO permission to be here, and are already within the waters of the Isles. In the name of the Isles and in the name of Zoogiedom, we order you to withdraw, immediately, or we SHALL lay upon you the wrath of the military.

The clock is ticking; you have thirty seconds to comply. By the way, your verse is atrocious.

This would be quite amusing if it turned out to be a fishing boat or something :)

Command

"Where did a Liberator come from?" was the general question among the intelligence and military officials. The thought had stirred in their minds often, and the firepower that a liberator could back was alarming. It had already been classified as a threat.

Finally, Colonel Preston, the man in charge, addressed the room. "Gentlemen, it doesn't take the Zoogiedom intelligence service to piece two and two together. Half a week ago we lost a Liberator class; here, a Liberator class in a paint scheme and with a name that is unrecorded on our rather extensive files, shows up with arbitrary behavior. If Truitt were attacking, as the pain suggests...they'd be smarter than to waste their flagship, and I believe their Presence is undergoing a refit?

"I'll wager that, two plus two is four, and verily this is our rogue ship."

At these last words, the faces of many paled. The squadron of four Hornets circling the Liberator were utterly unarmed. The closest armed aircraft, Tagyrs nonewithstanding, were at ETA 20 minutes and not equipped with anti-shipping missiles to fire from afar.

Presence

A final communique was then directed, before even the thirty seconds had passed.

Hornberry, stand down immediately and prepare to be boarded. The Navy is en route.

Command

"Colonel Preston, the missile slingers (Peltastor - class; think 'Armament Ship') are several minutes away from being in range of their current armament. We've got to call those fighters to get away from flak range."

"Where are they now?" asked the colonel, frowning.

"Circling right over."

"Christ!" he swore profusely. "Order them immediately!"

Then, he heard what he dreaded most - over the friendly radio channel, the sounds of the naval pilots, and they were not happy.

Presence

"Sucker!" The lead of the unarmed recon Hornets pulled his aircraft up in alarm and engaged as many countersystems as possible. He - and every fighter in his squadron - was suddenly being painted.

The stalker was right under them, and armed to the teeth.

"EAGLE SQUADRON, PULL OUT! DISENGAGE! BAIL! ABORT, ABORT, ABORT!" he screamed in vain as he jinked his aircraft every which way to prepare for what was sure to be a deadly onslaught.

And, as expected, the Liberator opened fire, the thundering of the multiple cannons only dimmed by the occasional roar of a SAM launch.

Walking around his office dictating to his secretary Dr.Vincent paused as his fone started to vibrate:

"Stop!,"he boomed,"Jessica give me a minute."

As his secretary left he picked up the fone,"So you have a plan I see? Well you know your people better than me. Before we go ahead I must make one thing clear. If you in anyway profess to the world that the Constitutional Monarchy of Maslawyia has had any involvement with you then it will be denied and you will be crushed. All knowledge of your existance to us will have been eradicated. Understand?"

He paused,"To continue. I can see to the preparation of forged ballot papers and coax some voters into admitting they were forced to vote for Hanelis against their will."

Dr.Vincent wanted to make it own that Barnsworth was dealing with a national leader. He had an entire Intelligence service looking after him and that he should be grateful for the help that he was receiving.

The many fighters, unarmed obviously, started to fly in odd angles, almost blacking out their pilots. The Anti-Aircraft systems were now firring a hailstorm of metal rounds at the birds.

"Well, I wonder if they think we are the real Presence, if not, lets show them." the Admiral said just as he nodded torwards the other.

After a few secounds, all five decks were being used to launch the many TF-55D Merlin Hawks, fighters that could easily take out the Hornet, even the Joint Strike Fighter.

Within two minutes, all decks have launched a craft, and were by this time reloaded for an other lanuch.

The unslaught was almost over, one of the Hornets was far enough out that it got away, but the rest were in blazes. "Now, they had to have a carrier. Send out a ping and find it, fire our armament at it."

After the radar and sonar pinged a few times, the whole screen lit up. "Holy Jesus," the radar controller said as he gazed at the green screen dotted with hundreds of green blobs.

"Just pick one and bring it to hell!" the Admiral said as the deck officer said oevr the communicator "Missle Bays, Bridge, load and fire any and all armament at barrings.." he gave the barrings to the ships closest, which happened to be fairly large.

"Missle Bays, fire at barrings.." as the confirmation was given, the message came through, "Sir, we got an incomming fleet of heavy shippery, comming fairly fast at maimum speeds, too fast for our on-board cannons. Hawks already in the air are going to intercept." at this, the Admirals looked at each other "At least they just lost a three hundred million dollar ship." smilling, he looked out the window awaiting the outcome.

OOC: You captured the Set'Kurve's personalities very accuratly, btu usually they can't spell ebcouse they are happy for thier mission, and plus they are Sparti (I hate the RL Sparty Islands so that's why I invaded it and own it, to tourture it, why that is why everyone hates me!). The squadron leader kissed his gloved hands that he was still alive, engaged afterburners, and, realizing the race was not over, began to speed away. His thumb was on the chaff/flare dispenser because he knew the SAMs would come.

It suddenly occured to him that he was going much too high; and also that his alarm systems had been damaged. He realized that he was utterly screwed, and with no hope left, pulled the ejection lever. As he was jettisoned into the air, two missiles crashed into his plane, the resulting explosion and flying debris cutting holes into his parachute and bruising him greatly.

From twelve thousand feet he began to descend fairly rapidly.

Incoming Fleets

The returning volley began several minutes after the KS-17s from the Liberator were launched. Peltastor class assault destroyers unleashed a combined thirty ASM cruise missiles, realizing many would be brought down by the Liberator CIWS, while readying their own CIWS systems.

The Oliver Perry frigates weren't quite so lucky. They were not nearly at the technological sohpistication level of the destroyers they were escorting, and the missiles came in too quickly.

In quick succession three Perry frigates lit up the sky with brilliant flames, while another was struck in a not - quite - so explosive and damaging part, but began to split asunder. Four ships were already lost.

As always, in a naval war, many casualties on the Zoogie side were sustained.

The Air War

After the fall of the recons, the next wave (considerably larger) of alert-five fighters were given the order to take off. This included a pair of F-14 Tomcats, four squadrons of the deadly ZaS-27, eight of the F-18E/F Hornet, and two of the ZaS-42.

The Tomcats, with their Kazakhstanian AA-3F missiles, struck first and foremost, and then quickly returned to base for another go at it. Each armed with eight of them, from around a hundred miles away they targeted and launched, trusting to the accuracy and precision of the missiles.

Meanwhile, the ZaS-27s used Meteors that began to get into range at around 30 miles out, and as did the Hornets, who fired together fired them into great volleys.

As expected, the Truitti unmanned combat vehicles gave pursuit to close the gap and try to outduke the missiles, and had a certain amount of success; however, a great many fell to the heavy Meteor onslaught that continued up to around 15 nautical miles.

At this point, the fighters began to split up and twist around to try to confuse the radar-operatives of the UAVs, and used their shorter-ranged heatseekers. In close combat, the UAVs and their 15-20G capability had a fantastic advantage.

Then they hit visual range. At this point, under forty of the hundred Truitti UAVs remained, but that was a considerable number. The ZaS-27 defensive systems and anti-radar technology would give them considerable advantage over their Hornet squadron partners, who suffered greatly as they tried to expend as much ammunition as possible before having to bail. Forty-eight Hornets were part of the battle, and in twenty minutes twenty of them had fallen compared to only a slightly larger number of UAVs; several Firebirds had been destroyed as well.

Then, without so much as a warning, a great volley of missiles roared into sight and smashed into UAVs with great precision. From sixty thousand feet descended the Tagyrs, ready for combat, and cutting the amount of enemy UAVs into half. The Zoogiedom squadrons regrouped, and distanced themselves to outside of cannon range. They outnumbered them now, with three new squadrons of Tagyrs adding to their number, and tugged at the UAVs from all sides. Losses were still sustained in the ensuing fierce dogfighting (although not one Tagyr pilot was splashed), but the UAVs were overcome and defeated in their entirety. It had been a costly battle, and now major pilot salvage operations began.

Presence

Meanwhile, the cruise missiles from the Peltasts began to blast at the Liberator. Evidently the CIWS were either undermanned, unmanned, or mismanaged, and nearly two-thirds of the missiles struck, knocking out ammunition and starting fires on deck. These were for the most part contained though, and the ship was still safely aloft and deadly.

ZaS-42 squadrons now came upon them though, descending from forty thousand feet and taking advantaged of several disabled SAM installations. The Liberator had much life in it still, and six pilots were lost with their planes. However, thirteen 2000-lb bombs were dropped, and of these eleven hit, in more critical places and with more devastating power. The Liberator burst asunder and a great fireball erupted into the sky.

The battle was won.

"OK now kick off with your plan and alert the media of this revelation and I currently have four of my people in your nation creating a bit of a stir. They'll leave and come back to Maslawyia once what they say begins to spread to the masses."

Meanwhile in Zoogiedom four rather built men walked around the busy streets screaming through megaphones:

In his insatiable quest for power, he has threatened families and even forged ballots! This situation requires urgent and immediate attention, and I urge Senator Fontair and others to open up a congressional investigation. Thank you."

Barnsworth stepped from the podium and scattered cheers broke through in the crowd, while skepticism and outrage came from many others. President Hanelis shut off the TV, turned to his advisers, and asked what the heck was going on.

"I don't know, Mr. President," declared cabinet member George Dailey. "These men popped out of nowhere. I'm having the internal department run through scans of them as we speak."

The flames boomed all oevr, the decks were destoryed, noa ircraft could take off, too bad the TF-55D could not do VTOL operations.

"Drop the strips and wait." he said. The Deck Operator pressed the switch and series of buttons on the panel. Out of no where, the side angeld decks jetisoned slwoly form the main deck, one fo the Liberator's one of a kind characteristics. "Aim all we got at them! I want this thign to sink when we are taken!" he yelled. The 300mm cannons (three) were still online, although the 21' railgun was destroyed by the secound bomb to hit.

The losses were counted, and several frigates had been lost, most in the last volley of missiles that the Liberator poured on before it was destroyed. In the meantime President Hanelis set to dispute the Senator's claims, announcing at the close of a lengthy speech, "These allegations of a sore loser are ludicrous and should be dismissed. It is time to move on."

Meanwhile, riot police poured through the streets, but much of their fears were unfounded. The allegations were truly so far-fetched that many dismissed them, but now small bands of citizens were crying out against the government. These were mostly the extremes; the marxists and anarchists, and those who detested Hanelis and everything he stood for.

Almost immediately a DENP (The organization that makes the KGB look like guerillas) agent was on the scene. He sent for the captain of the riot squad, and ordered him to find those responsible for shouting, of which only a few photo records were taken.

"It is of paramount importance that you find them," the agent growled, before several men from his own unit mingled into the crowd in search.

O-o-okay...*presses fast-forward button*

Palishdar, Northeastern Zoogiedom

It was a drizzling and bitterly cold April day in Palishdar county, where Governor Barnsworth was taking a two-week leave from his public duties. It was time for a relaxing vacation; as he said, we all need one every now and then. But Harrison Barnsworth was most certainly not taking a relaxing vacation.

He was sheltering from the rain in a broken down, abandoned shed in what once was a farm field; far off from civilization. Population density was low in Palishdar, and particularly low in this old farming precint; there was no traffic, observation, or people for miles around. It was the perfect birthplace of a conspiracy.

After losing in the closest election in the history of Zoogiedon, Harrison Barnsworth was much aggrieved. He knew, for certain, that he was more experienced and would be a much better leader than Michael Hanelis, a filthy quasi-libertarian. For months he had contemplated a course of action, and was stirred to a decision after advice given from another leader who had once been in a position similar to his. And now, look where he had gone...

Several weeks ago, it was Barnsworth and this leader who had organized an attempt to stir public opinion against Hanelis by forging 'forged' ballots and shouting corruption. What had happened since then was unfathomable - it only stirred up confusion, having a small and generally unnoticeable effect, and caused public opinion of he, himself, to degrade considerably.

Since then, he had gone everything in his power to regain a steady reputation and gain a stronger support base. Now, at last, he believed he was ready.

http://home.ripway.com/2004-1/54396/Hans_Gruber_(Alan_Rickman).gif

There was a creaking sound as the old wooden door was opened and another figure stepped in. He was an aging man, but only physically, clad in a forest green raincoat and wearing an ancient army helmet.

"Ah, General Curtis...you have come at last. Welcome."

http://home.ripway.com/2004-1/54396/Gregory_Zinoviev.gif

"Indeed, Mr. Barnsworth, here I am. So what's the news?"

The two were at the head of a conspiracy to overthrow the current government, by force, now that (in their minds) other options were exhausted. They now often resorted to secret communication as an extra precaution.

"I've garnered a good deal of private support, mostly in the middle-north areas. I've got an emergency plan ready, courtesy of General Martine, that would take several provinces by storm at a moment's notice. It'll be most interesting to see Hanelis's reaction."

The general frowned. "I don't think that is very wise," he said. "It puts us in a bad strategic position...what do we do after that? Hanelis's armies may come pouring in..."

"Don't be a fool. Hanelis is too soft. He'll probably curl up into a fetal position and suck his thumb. That's how he is - if he can't take a civil war, which he can't, he'll go into denial."

"But you always prepare for the worst..."

"Alright," conceded the governor. "You want to take it more slowly? Fine. We'll have to wait more to get more support, though."

At this General Curtis grinned. "No need," he said. "I've got support, too, remember? Let's start from the bottom. Major Eteirsov's units from the northwest and the Northern Isles are fiercely loyal to him, and through the region he has gotten more support. There is more unrest in this country, in this military, than meets the eye. Ah, the beauty of corruption. There are those who will hop on any bandwagon if they see it to their own gain."

He gave Barnsworth a meaningful eye. Both men knew who was being spoken of - Vice President Darren Scott would have fought to the end with Hanelis had not he realized early that if he made friendly he stood to gain more. Scott was practical beyond realpolitik; he was easily corrupted by the thought of personal gain.

"You're kidding," said Barnsworth at last. "You didn't."

"I did," said Curtis, grinning widely. "Eteirsov will organize a group of officers to denounce this administration. You'll do the same, of course, returning from your vacation having been given a revelation by God."

"A crusade?" said Barnsworth, catching on.

"Exactly. Not only will it garner more support, it will focus the support in the North, North-Easterly regions that we want it to. As for me..." he patted his old secure military portable satphone that was embedded in his pocket (let's just say that by some uber-tech method I have satphones at that size, shall we?). "I can give the order for a declaration of war at the press of a button."

"Aren't you worried about the soldiers' resolve?"

"Pardon?"

"Their resolve. Hasn't it occured to you that they will not want to fight their loved ones, their countrymen, their brothers?"

The fact that as a general rule Zoogiedom citizens were very conscious and proud of their common heritage, language, culture, and country, was just now resurfacing in Barnsworth's mind. It was troubling and a cause for concern, at least for him.

"Not at all," smiled the general, waving a dismissive hand. "You must not know Major Eteirsov well. If anything, I'd be worried that the national forces won't have any resolve."

The two shared a laugh, and Curtis lit a cigar. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got a flight to catch. I should be leaving."

"Very well," said Barnsworth. "And I shall return soon as well; another day of vacationing should do it. I'll be most interested to speak with the vice president. Until then..."

The general nodded, and left the building. Barnsworth loitered; it was important that they not be spotted often in the same place, especially in odd and suspicious areas such as these.

Five minutes later, a car pulled up and he, too, left. The first thing he did was make contact with the vice president.

Jaganda

National Security adviser Cameron Aturk suspected trouble. He was usually the one that sensed brewing problems before they surfaced, and put a stop to them before they could do extensive damage. His nickname, as a result, was 'The Exterminator' - one who would smell a rat and extinguish it.

He was well aware that ever since the forged ballot claims, trouble was brewing. It may not seem it; it may have seemed that the claims were dismissed, and indeed they were - but the seed was planted. He saw the effects of the claim - they were, he postulated, not to stir up the populace but to drive on the hardliners who were already heavily opposed to Hanelis. Drive them on to what? Drastic means to get rid of the administration? He wasn't sure, but he saw from afar the storm clouds.

But who would have such a motive? He couldn't be sure. Which was why he was monitoring the Presidential building's phone lines and tapping into random conversations to pick up anything suspicious. It was unethical, and often he heard some personal matters he ought not to have, but he believed firmly that it would get the job done.

Per chance he tapped into a log of a conversation between the vice president and someone calling from Palishdar. The number wasn't a government number, but a personal one. Most interesting. The call was a saved one - he often saved arbitrary calls for later reviewal and subsequent deletion.

When he heard the content of this one, however, he knew he could not delete it. "Christ," he said.

http://home.ripway.com/2004-1/54396/Kemal_Ataturk.gif

He headed to the DDA building in person to speak with defense secretary Brian Dredon and to call upon the mysterious Mr. Smith. Hook, line, and SINKER.
