In a large conference room in the Palace complex, on the third floor of the tall elegant tower, called Jason’s tower, after King Jason, the third reigning monarch of the kingdom. At the head of the table sat Queen Adrian III. Seated around the table were a group of scientists and government ministers. The Queen rises and calls the meeting to order, then promptly takes her seat. She begins speaking with “well people, I hear that you’re here to inform me of our new plan for space exploration?” A tall thin woman with long stringy hair stood up and said “your majesty, our current plan calls for the funding of a new space program at 30 billion dollars a year for the next 5 years. At the end of those 5 years we plan to have established a moon colony. We will use the knowledge and technology gained from this endeavor to reach mars within 10 years. We will achieve this by using the plasma drive technology, along with cyclers. Cyclers are large space craft that never enter the gravity well of celestial body. We will use Rail Guns and Mass Drivers to move water, and other supplies to orbit. Construction of 3 Rail Guns capable of getting a 40 lb payload to the moon in 90 days has already begun. We also are building 9 Rail Guns capable of putting 90 lb payloads into orbit, and 60 lbs out to a Lagrange point. The first step is to begin building a space station to allow us to collect the cargo payloads put into orbit and then begin building the first of 4 moon cyclers at the L3 point.” The women finished her presentation and said “Any questions?” Queen Adrian waited a few seconds and then asked “What are the military potentials of this project?” A tall thin man wearing a LTC rank said “Ma’am, we will not be associating the military with this project. We will be using some of the new spacecraft developed to replace previous designs in launching satellites, and we are currently working on the development of a space plane.” “Very well” was all Queen Adrian said. I will give my formal approval to the project.
