OOC:If your name isn't Wirraway or Doomingsland, don't post. None of this stuff effects the regular NS world, this is a test for both of us to join TCG.

2200 Hours, local, 20 miles to target-

"Red light! on your feet!" yelled the jumpmaster aboard the DLAF C17.

It was just one of 8 that would be flying over the Wirrawayen controled island of Grenada. The soldiers aboard the aircraft were members of the elite 1st Airbourne Division. Only one battalion would be landing, the 53rd, nicknamed the Hellhounds. The aircraft shook around them from anti-aircraft fire.

"Yellow light! Check your partners!"

The men began checking to make sure the man next to him was all hooked up to the static line. Their eyes glowed green through the helmets on their ACS suits. They were now very close to the target. The commander of the battalion was a major by the name of John Benneli, a 40 year old soldier from the badlands. His senior NCO and body guard was Master Sergeant Hayes, also from the badlands.

"Green light! Move! Move! Move!"

The first man out of the lead aircraft was Major Benneli, followed by Sgt. Hayes and the rest of the unit. The men poured out of the aircraft. The battalion was 600 strong, with light vehicle support in the form of two M8 AGSs. The sky was lit up with flak, miraculessly, none of the aircraft were downed, although several were hit. The amount of AAA caused several aircarft, including the lead, to kick the men out early. Only two were on target, 20 miles inland of St. George's. The men hit the ground, dazed in the erie green glow that there NVGs provided.

1930 Hours-St. George- Colonial Central Command

It had been a quiet night at HQ, not like most nights were filled with activity in Grenada, but tonight had been particularly quiet. No fires or murders had been reported and the Garrison seemed to be behaving its-self for once. A quiet complacence had settled over the Command staff of the small backwater colony of Wirraway that was Grenada. A single phone-call ended this tranquility.

Master Sergeants Will Hearst had been dozing at his desk, the energy drink in his right hand told the story of a failed fight against sleep. The ringing of the phone startled him to consciousness, and he picked up the receiver roughly

"Hello, Colonial HQ"

A breathless voice replied
"Yes, this is Corporal Foster from the naval base at Grand Roy, we seem to be under attack from the air."

Hearst took a moment to digest this, angry that he had been disturbed with such an idiotic report at a time like this,

"Listen here Corporal Foster, last time we got a call like this it turned out to be a group of migrating birds, we put the whole populace on alert for a group of migrating birds! do you understand how stupid that made us look? Are you absolutely sure we are under attack."

There was a moment’s pause

"Yes, sir, we're positive, radar picked up 8 transports flying un-announced over our territorial waters, they could not answer the call signs.

As if on cue, AA batteries around St.George's opened up against the planes interrupting the call for a moment.

"When we called on them to turn back they refused answer and we were forced to fire on them. We tried to scramble fighters but we were caught completely off-guard. Were now getting reports of Para-troopers landing in a line from the sea to 20 miles inland of the capital."

Hearst offered a terse, "goodbye." and hung up. His mind moved into overdrive, Para-troopers and transports by god he was at war, but for what? He pushed the thought from his head and worried about the matter at hand and got on the horn to his superiors.

The army command handled it from there. From military bases around the island the around 500 regular colonial troops boarded jeeps and supply trucks and headed for the capital and the surrounding areas. Troops in the capital formed up into their companies and headed out with the only armor units that were in the colonial army, 10 newly acquired Stryker Armored Vehicles armed with 105mm Smoothbore cannons, the same gun as the Abrams. The plan was the attack and destroy the isolated Para-troopers before they could re-form into coherent units.

A general message was broadcast the all residents that the island was being invaded. The message advised them to stay inside and not open their doors for anyone until further notice.

Grenada's two Black-Hawk helicopters from the naval base were put to work searching the hills behind St.George's for enemy troops. The police were dispatched to set up roadblocks around the capital.

It was not known who these troops were, or why they had come, just that they were here and had to be stopped before they fulfilled whatever objective they were after.

Drop Zone Charlie(improvised DZ)-

Major Benneli and Sergeant Hayes had landed close by one another, but didn't find each other right away...

Benneli kept his head down as he uncliped his parachute, and took out his XM8 rifle. He swithed to thermal vision, the disorientating view of blues, yellows and reds filling his eyes. He could see red strands of light in the distance-tracers-streaking toward the retreating aircraft. He scanned the area he was in, a wide open field, with several bushes, and tall grass, and didn't detect any signs of life. He was alone...

Oh shit, were's the battalion? How many did we lose? questions began to fill his mind as he catiously moved through the thick grass. Suddenly, his view turned from blue to red-

"Sir? Is that you?"

"Damn it, Hayes, don't sneak up on me like that." responded the major as a small group of soldiers began to appear around him.

"What's the situation sir?" one of them asked.

"Damned if I know, the thing was a f---in' disaster," he replied, taking out his GPS, and switching off his thermals. He stared down at the glowing screen...

It displayed the locations of all friendly soldiers, they were scattered about the center of the island. As far as he could tell, a fourth of the men had made it to the primary DZ.

"OK, we're heading southward. Primary rally point's about 30 klicks down, lets get moving." he said, starting south.

Easy Company, 1st Battalion-Colonial Guard

As part of the garrison of the capital, Easy Company was provided with the most up-to-date weapons and equipment, at least by colonial standards. They were one of the few units to have equipped with NVG's, which was why they were wading through waist high-grass in area to the east of St.George at the dead of night.

Behind them two Styker armored vehicles rolled along with them, their turrets weaving back and forth in the night like cobras, ready to strike should anything pop into view.

"Company halt" yelled Captian Burlaff. The 100 soldiers in Easy Company stopped on a dime in the softly waving grass.

"Whaddaya think is goin' on queried private Walters to his buddy Jasper.

"Dammed if I know, dammed if I even know what's goin' on out here, the boonies give me the creeps. Ain't got no idea what hiding in those woods."

Suddenly a voice was heard,

"I see one, I see one" yelled a private down the line.

The whole company dropped to a prone position while the Strykers, moved up front spitting tracers into the woods.

The company fired by squads thier bullets lighting up the moonless night hoping to hit whatever was in the woods......

Outside the capital-

Several men had been hit when the Wirrawayen troops opened fire into the woods, the rest had taken cover behind trees, and began to return fire on the now confirmed hostile heat signatures. The commander of the 200 man company, Bravo Company, was a man named Captain O'niel...

"Enemy armor confirmed! Take him out!" yelled a soldier who had just spotted one of the Strykers before he was cut down by an enemy round. A SMAW armed soldier emerged from a prone position 30 meters away from the Stryker, fired, and ended up killing himself in the process. Resistance had been expected, but not this much.

Men began falling back to a large ditch were they would attempt to cut down advancing enemy forces, 6 M60E4 machineguns were already set up, with crews manning them, as well as two Javeline teams. The rest of the men began pouring into the ditch, and taking up postitions, spraying into the woods at enemy heat sigs. Bullets flew through the woods, cutting up leaves as they fell from trees, and kicking up dirt when they aimed to low to the ground.

15 Kilometers south of DZ Charlie

Major Benneli and his small band of 9 men continued to march south, until they came upon a road. The major signaled for the men to halt...

Sgt. Hayes approached him stealthily,

"Sir, what is it?"

"Not sure, possible armor, maybe trucks, heading down that road toward us," he replied, pointing south.

The terrain next to the road was elevated ten feet, and covered in a thick tree line. His squad consisted of two M249 gunners, two riflemen, both equiped with a single AT4 in addition to their XM8 rifles, an OICW gunner, Sgt. Hayes, and four other riflemen, including the major. They lie prone, the two men with AT4s sholdering their weapons, and training them down toward whre the sounds were coming from. It wsa a cold night, the only sounds besides the approaching vehicles were the various insects that inhabit the island, and the only light they had were stray tracer rounds flying into the air from the other battle...

The vehicles grew closer, and as soon as they came in sight, the men were surpirsed. They were friendlies. Two M8 AGS drove down the road toward the men, not knowing they were there. Major Benneli got on his radio,

"Irons one and two, Irons one and two, halt immediatly, friendly infantry close by."

"Affirmative, major. Good to hear your voice."

"You too, son. We need a ride south toward the rally point."

"No problem sir."

The men got out of their hiding spots, and climbed up on to the back to the vehicles, and headed toward battle...

They continued to talk,

"So, any word on were the others are?"

"As far as we know, we landed farthest north, the others should be approaching the rally point by now."

Easy Company Somewhere outside St.George

As the battle raged on it soon became apparent that the plan to attack the strung out Para-troopers had failed; Captain Burlaff was the first to recognize this un-settling fact and quickly signaled to his radio operator who handed him the receiver, he spoke quickly to the Colonel commanding the regimental HQ in St.George

"What’s the SitRep Captain."

"Dammit sir, the whole dam company has put at least three clips into those woods and their still firing back at us, I see a hell of a lot of muzzle flashes, I swear, even though this might sound crazy I feel like were fighting a re-enforced company, we need some back-up ASAP."

"Sorry captain, I don't have anything to send you, we’re too strung out now, those frigging Para-troopers landed everywhere, I'll call in if we can free up some units but for now your on your own soldier."

Burlaff slowly replaced the receiver as bullets zinged around his head. The 2 mortar teams had finally set up and were now pounding the woods with fire. The Stryker's had backed off and were now engaging targets from long-range with their 105mm smoothbore cannons and co-axial 50. Cal machine guns. The cannons caused the greatest damage, their shells creating huge explosions and craters in the ground while the metal from the shell casings lanced into the Para-troopers.

So far casualties had been fairly light, 7 had been killed with another 4 wounded, leaving him with a force of 90 men. The company continued to fire into the woods as they fell back by squads into an irrigation ditch on the other side of the field. After the last squad had moved the company settled in for the night. They had lost another 2 men and had 4 wounded in the move back the ditch. An hour later a supply convoy reached the company and soldiers and Strykers re-stocked for the coming battles while the wounded were taken back the field hospital.

Grenada

All over the Grenada islanders were being mustered at police stations and military bases. They were given uniforms, grenades, M-16's and some rudimentary training. They then began forming up into native units to be paired with regular army units. The amount of natives successfully mobilized was around 3,000. The high command hoped that their numbers would make up for their lack of experience.

Outside of St. George's

The shells from the Strykers began flying toward the men, causing maasive crates, and sending shrapnel whisstling through the air, kill several men who's heads were up too high. Once in a while, they would get a lucky shot to land in the ditch, and fry a group of men. The men continued to fire, however, the the Javeline crews began to target the Strykers, and fire, with their missiles illuminating the sky as they flew above the trees, then came crashing down toward their targets...

Casualties so far-19 dead, 31 wounded

Main rally point-

A total of 311 men had managed to get back to the rally point, including the major, who immediatly assumed command. They were just 20 miles out of the capital, and prepared to march on it. He had made radio contact with Bravo Company, and assesed he had a total of 500 men at his disposal, with a fifth of the total force missing in action, probably stirring up trouble amongst the enemy supply lines.

Finnaly, the major gave the order to advance, and the men headed toward the battle catiously, the two M8s riding on the flanks, and the major leading the army...

The major began to think to himself...

This mission's been a f---in' disaster so far, but we should be able to take and hold the capital with this much firepower. As far as Bravo knows, there's only a company holding there. This was supposed to be a simple mission, with only a small undermanned company in defence, with no AAA whatsoever. Damn intel guys...

The objective of the mission was to take the island so a base could be established, as the High Command felt the need for a base in the Americas. Wirraway was an obvious target since they were over stretched in Africa, and probably wouldn't send reinforcements out of fear that the Generic Empire would take advantage, and invade Mozambique.

Easy Company Somewhere outside St.George

The sound of gunfire was broken by a whooshing sound as 3 missiles lit up the night sky, they all tracked on the same Stryker. It tried in vain to escape but it exploded in a ball of flame after taking a direct missile hit on its hatch. The other Stryker quickly picked out the offending missile teams who had exposed them-selves to take their shots and mowed them down. Attrition was taking its toll on the company, which was now down to about 55 men, with 25 dead and 20 wounded.

It became readily apparent that those were not ordinary soldiers in the woods; any other unit would have packed in already, it especially with the arrival of the long-awaited re-enforcements St. David at around 0300 hours. The colonial army maintained a small platoon sized outpost there and it had been hard going on the local roads so it taken them some time to reach the embattled Easy Company. The regular troops were augmented by 2 platoons of natives, leading to a total of 120 men. They also brought a Striker IFV with them and logistics vehicles, which carried rations and ammunition to the tired troopers of Easy Company.

As dawn broke it seemed that the colonial troops finally began to gain the upper hand, as they were able to receive helicopter support. Captain Burlaff personally directed the fire support and the Cobra's pured rockets and machine fire in the woods, setting the tress alight. The 2 Strykers ranged forward again and began attacking at close range. After the Stykers had cleared the way, the troops split into 2 groups. One group of 70 followed the Stykers across the field while the other group of 50 attempted a flanking maneuver to the right and began to catch the paratroopers in a crossfire…..

St.George

Natives had called in reporting a large force of armed men moving in the direction of the capital and action was taken accordingly. Most of the Concordiat forces had massed Grenada's most populous city, with around 200 troops out fighting in the boonies, that left 300 regular troops in the city along with 2,000 natives and the remaining 7 Stryker IFVs. In addition the around 200 strong police force had been called into action and formed another fighting force. The only two artillery pieces on the Island, two howitzers, were towed out to provide fire-support as the rest of the forces dug in around the city waiting for the believed assault.

OOC:I thought I killed both Strykers? You know, when that first guy stood up in front of it, and fired a SMAW right at it, and ended up killing himself in the process? And I thought you had Blackhawks, not Cobras?

Outside of St. Georges-

The men continued to pour a massive volley of fire into the woods, and the men equiped with AT4s in addition to their rifles (50 men) opened fire at the onrushing enemy armor. The long awaited reinforcements arrived, the M8s in the lead, crushing trees in their path, and fireing on the remaining Strykers with their 105s. The new men joined their comrades, just as the Cobras began to swoop in. 20 men were mowed down by the helos, but a stinger missile was fired at each of them. The men began to put heavy suppresing fire on the flanking units as well. Finnaly, the major gave the long awaited order,

"Fix bayonets!"

The men complyed, drawing their massive 18 inch bayonets, and fixing them to the rifles.

"Men, we will drive them from these woods. To the death!"

"BLARAGAH!!!"

The 500 men poured out from over the ditch, fireing their weapons on full auto at concentrations of enemy forces, and pushing out of the woods. They split the force in half, one half pushing out of the woods, the other rushing the flanking units. The ramaining 10 SMAW teams tagged along, taking out any Strykers that remained.

OOC: I assume the re-enforcements were the ones headed for the capital.

Outside of St. Georges

The Wirrawayan troops met with much more resistance than they originally expected, evidenced by complete destruction of one Blackhawk and damaging of the other. The Stryker didn't last very long either, it was able to get a few shots off before massed missile fire gutted it, leaving the troops without armor units.

It seemed that the once depleted resistance had been able to re-enforce its-self, but instead of massing and breaking the center like the captain had feared, the opposing commander had split his forces, giving the two disparate Wirrawayan units the oppurtunity to withdraw in an orderly manner as they were clearly heavily outnumbered. The two units joined up again in the center while suffering heavy losses, out of an orginal 120 there were about 65 left. Some natives broke and ran for home, while the stouter ones held firm.

Each squad moved back as the other covered until the remaining 50 men were able to break off from the fight and march to St.George to bolster the defenses there.

St.George

The units had finished digging in and with the reports of the defeat of the outlying units, they knew that there turn in combat was close at hand. The number of enemy troops was put at roughly 550. But these were elite solderis and not taken lightly. Mines were laid over all major points of entry and ambushes were set up at strategic areas. With more troops filtering in the defenders of St.George's consisted of 2,200 native troops, 300 Regular army troops, 200 policeman.
The 7 remaining Strykers were held in reserve until they were needed.

Doomingsland Command Post, outside of St. George's

The major, after crushing the enemy army, had finnaly gotten the chance to establish a command post. Scouts had reported a large group of enemy forces, numbering in the thousands. This wouldn't be easy, and probably impossible, but he had his orders. He knew the consequences if he didn't carry them out.

He sat around a digital map in his command tent,

"OK, so we've got hostiles dug in around the ciry. Only way to get in, is to wear them down. After enough attrition, we should be able to force our way in. What I want are quick strikes, a fire team goes in, staying concealed in the woods, each man picks a target, fires a single round, and gets the hell out. Occasionaly, if we can spot armor, we'll have a SMAW go in. Now, about those mortars," two 81mm mortars and their crews had managed to make it to the improvised base, "I want strikes at random intervals on random targets. Enough of this should demoralize the natives. And what about those new rounds we got?" he said, refering to a leaflet round the unit had taken delivery of for the mission.

"Yeah, the messages are written out in Spanish for the natives to read, it tells them to return to their homes, and no harm will come to them. They will also recieve a handsome reward." he spoke the truth, each native that complied would recieve 20,000 USD each.

"OK, thats good. Lets get started."

----------------------------------------------

Edge of the woods

A lone fire team had crept through the woods to test the new tactic. They had switched from thermal to night vision. The men had taken up positions in the bushes and trees, and began to find targets amongst the dug in soldiers.

"Blue in position."

"Affirmative, blue, go ahead with the plan."

Each man had found a target, they were all excelent marksmen, and would probably hit their targets. There was a single OICW gunner with them, who would fire two 20mm airbursts over the positions to kill anyone inside.

"Blue, aquiring targets...."

Crackkkkkk....BLAM

The men all fired their weapons at the same time, the last eplosion being the grenade. The men all fell back to their lines, staying low, and avoiding the fire being put into the woods.

"Blue team here, objective acomplished. Rain steel."

"Roger that blue, steel rain inbound..." steel rain being the codename for the impending mortar strike.

The two mortars fired into the previously aquired targets with anti-personel rounds, both fireing into the previously attacks trench.

OOC: If you think this is god-modding i'll delete it, but I think that the numbers are reasonable, total and the fact that the all fighting has been in the southern part of the Island up to this point allows this to happen.

St.George

It was not until noon that the remnants of Easy Company and the St.David garrison reached the capital. They were exhausted and many nearly collapsed upon reaching the main army camp. They were quickly cared for and rushed to the hospital or barracks to recuperate. Rumors spread like wildfire around the city.

"They've got some new super-soldier out there, we can't stop 'em might as well surrender now"

"There are thousands elite troops closing in on us, there butchers I tell you, butchers."

"Their using poison gas, you see how they wiped out Easy Company, you need poison to take those boys out, they were some of the best we had."

Reports came in from the North of the Island, the rest of the Natives numbering around 400 and about 100 Regular troops were on their way down to St.George's. They were the last fighting forces to be mobilized.

The commanders quickly formed a plan. They would dig in and bear whatever losses they could take, saving the bulk of their troops for a final push. Abandoning a defensive strategy, the plan was for the force coming from the North to attack the rear of the enemy and drive them closer to city, then the over 3,000 troops in St.George would flood over the fortifications and catch the enemy in a pincer.

Reports filtered in from the perimeter of isolated attacks but officers cautioned their men to keep their heads down and wait. The army refused to respond to the attacks even though they bled the army down a little each time. So far there had been 5 killed and 7 wounded, but they army only had to stay down for another few hours then they would crush the invaders.....

OP Alpha, Northern Grenada

A small group of soldiers who had failed to find their units had linked up, and established radio contact with the command post. The senior mean among them, a sergeant, looked through hius binoculars at the marching native forces...

"Command, this is OP Alpha, be advised, we are seeing a large group of hostiles closing in your direction"

Command Post, outside of St. George's

"Affirmative alpha, what's the ETA?"

"Three hours, sir. Recomend you intercept them. The natives are poorly trained, and should fall from a mortar strike."

"Affirmative. Out."

Major Benneli turned to Sgt. Hayes,

"I want a mortar strike on them, and I want a group to face them. Send out one of the M8s, and have them pinned down."

"Yes sir."

After the sergeant left the tent, the major began to type out a new message to load in his shells.

To-Whomever it concerns
From-Me to know, you to find out

We know of the group closing on us. They will be killed. You have five hours to lay down your arms, and enter the woods with your hands up, or you'll all be killed. You are vastly outnumbered, surrender now, and you will all live.

"Corporal, copy this onto leaflets, and put three rounds on the enemy forces."

"Yes sir."

A half an hour later, the mortars fired onto the city, loaded with the leaflets to be dispersed on the enemy forces.

--------------------------------------

Checkpoint Oscar, 1000 meters from enemy skirmisher force-

A small group of 50 men had been assembled to stop the incoming enemies, along with an M8. Mines had been set up in the path of the enemy forces an hour before, and six M60E4 machinguns had been deployed. The men were in camoflauged positions, and they could see they enemy forces in the distance. They would wait for them to close within 500 meters, and open fire. The sun was rising, and it illuminated the enemies, making them easy targets....

"Fire on my command." whispered the liuetenant in charge.

A few minutes later, they got within range...

"Open fire!"

The men took carefully aimed shots, as if at the range, while the MGs sprayed to hit anyone who didn't keep his head down. The miones were placed 20 meters in front of the trench the men were in. The tank began to open fire with its coaxial and main gun. At the same time, anti-personel mortar rounds began to fall on the enemy forces...

OOC:This should be a sluaghter for the natives, but I'm sure yourt guys would have enough sense to get down, although being caught in an open field in front of camoflauged positions isn't an ideal situation...

OOC: If you look back at your original post it shows that the troops landed around St.Georges and inland, there was no mention of forces in the North of the island and since St.George was their target I highly doubt they went North, but since you put so much work into the RP I'll roll with it.

Northern Grenada, Northern Colonial Forces

As dawn broke the Northern Task Force continued down the long windy road to the Capital. Due to a lack of military equipment they were carried in a mixture of commandeered trucks and military vehicles. In the middle of the convoy Captain Burgess, in command in the platoon of soldiers in the Northern part of the Island, was making a battle plans.

"We'll dis-mount right about here, 5 miles away from the enemy's reported position, and radio HQ when we begin our attack, hopefully-------the crack of machine gun fire and a bullet whistling through the window of the truck into the captain's head put and end to his thoughts. His deputy, Sargent Margelli quickly took control

"Every one out, get out of the trucks, we've been ambushed."

The highly trained Concordiat troops quickly exited their vehicles and took cover on the backside of a hill next to the road. Two trucks exploded in flame and the entire convoy came under heavy fire from rifles, machine guns and mortars and what looked to be a tank. The panicked natives milled about firing aimlessly at their unseen attackers. The multiple machine guns laid down rows of deadly lead that consumed whole rows of natives, while the tank blew them sky-high. By the time the Wirrawayans got the natives to respond there were only 200 left standing, their force nearly halved and with 20 Wirrawayan troops lost the task force was down to 280 men. They began to return fire at the ambushers; three M-60's were set up and began spraying the wood line with fire. The Sergeant took the radio-phone from its dead operator and dialed St.George.

"St.George HQ, identify your-self"

"Sergeant Margelli, Northern Task Force"

"What’s the SitRep Sergeant and where is Captain Burgess."

"Burgess is dead sir, we've been ambushed and lost almost half of our number, were barely holding on here, there is no way we can attack the main force from behind, were pinned down pretty bad here. And to add to all this there’s a tank, I’m trying to get our missile crews up now but were under heavy fire"

"Good luck Sergeant, we'll send help when we can, but for now hold tight we'll come and get you."

The Colonel at HQ slowly replaced the receiver

Poor bastards, poor poor bastards, he thought to himself.

In St.George the news of the ambushing of the Northern Task Force was a hammer blow to the command staff, but they quickly began formulating a new one. After reviewing radar tapes and Aircraft ID's they estimated that there could be no more than 500 men on the Island, factor in losses sustained in earlier actions, the fact that the force was even more reduced by a group in the North it was estimated that there could be no more than 300 to 350 men surrounding the capital. They had almost 3,000 at their disposal, the math told the story.

About 20 natives had deserted mysteriously, but the cause was found when a propaganda leaflet was discovered, the attack preparations were stepped up to counter-act any more propaganda attempts. By the next day the attack was prepared.

The break-out stepped off with mortar and artillery fire, which softened up the area in front of the attack. On cue 3,000 men rushed over the bulwarks which they were supposed to be defending and hopefully surprising the enemy. The then slammed into the vastly numerically inferior enemy force, the sheer weight of their numbers made up for their lack of training, although there were 300 regular army troops and 200 policemen mixed in amongst the natives. The 7 Strykers followed behind, engaging targets at will, each with their own 5-soldier squad dedicated solely to the destruction of enemy missile teams. Artillery and mortar fire continued to fall in front of the advancing forces.

EDIT- I agree I think we could make this into a series, Islands are great environments for RP'ing, they have clear boundaries and are small enough to make it all realistic, plus no WMD's to ruin everything.

OOC:Yeah, this is pretty cool. Maybe this series could be the first official TCG RP. You DO realize its suicidal to rush a camofluaged, entrenched position manned by elite soldiers, no matter how many guys you have, right?
And if your dropping mortar and artilery rounds on top of my men while your charging, wouldn't you end up killing you own men, not only that, but possibly drive them back?

Outside of St. George's

When the artilery began to fall in the woods, it confirmed Major Benneli's suspicions of an attack. Luckily, he'd pulled back all of the men in that area of the woods, just in case, and placed them 100 meters back. As soon as the artilery let up, and the enemy began to rise, the men immediatly opened fire. The enemy had miscalulated the force size by nearly 80 men, a deadly mistake. 12 M60E4s opened up as soon as the enemy arose, cutting into them like a warm knife through butter. The mortar fire on the Northern Task Force diverted to the new attack, this time with incindiery rounds. The men picked off the enemy soldiers one by one, and the OICW gunners fired their high velocity grenades at the attackers. The enemy had made a terrible miscalculation by forgetting that the men had time to not only dig in, but dig camofluaged positions, complete with claymore mines. When the enemy soldiers got within 5 yards of the entrenchments, the claymores were blown, sending high velocity shrapnel straight at the onrushing forces, all while machineguns and rifles were fired at them. The major himself moved somewhat close to the lines to view the carnage his men were inflicting. AT4s, SMAWs, and Javelines were fired from foxholes at the Strykers as soon as the attack began, defeating the purpose of the five-man anti-missile squads. The M8, however, stayed near the command post in reserve, to help drive back the enemy when the time was right.

However, due to the sheer numbers, several small, battle weary groups managed to punch through the lines, and got into the trenches, but came under bayonet attack. This did cause disruption for several minutes, and more enemies were able to get in closer, but the fire immediatly continued after the last enemy was down. The enemy mortars and artilery did take many men, though, and so far, 67 men lie dead in the trenches, either from enemy fire, or from artilery.

Checkpoint Oscar-

The mortar fire let up on the enemy forces when the other battle began, but the machineguns and rifles continued to pick off enemy soldiers very carefully. Several men who kept their heads to high were blown away by machinegun fire from enemy forces, but served as an example to the others. The tank continued to fire its maingun and coaxial at the enemy, as were the machinegun crews. They simply had to prevent this force from reaching friendly lines, while friendly forces held off the others.

OOC: Yes this true but you seemed to have ignored the armor support, 7 tanks rolling in behind my forces would put a serious dent in any defenders. The artillery was landing in front of my forces, its in the post. When I was doing this I factored in the element of surprise, a la the battle of the bulge. Considering that my forces made no moves to counter-attack before now and you were considering taking the city I don't see how you could anticipate the attack and defend from my attack so throughly, but I guess its a mis-calculation on my part......
and BTW how is it possible that mortars which were firing on the northern task force are now in this battle, I mean there seperated by many miles.

The 3,000 men surged forward over the bulkwarks and rushed into the woods. Almost immediatly they were met with a hail of gunfire, many in the first rank dropped as bullets ripped through them. The crossfire was deadly and many units stopped charging and laid down in the trees to return fire. The Strykers moved up to spearhead the assault, their main-guns turned machine gun nests into flaming wreckage while thier defense sqauds mopped up missileers. Unfortunatly not all the missile crews were taken care of, and 3 Styrkers were destroyed by a vareity of ordinance. The remaining 4 pulled back behind Wirrawayan lines to help the rest of the army dig in.

The Wirrawayan army began to dig in again, extending the perimeter around St.George's while having lost over 1,000 of their number to vicious frontal assault. Their bodies littered the 100 yards seperating the two forces. The Army was still formidable as almost all of the killed were un-skilled natives who had blindly rushed the machine gun emplacements and camoflouged soldiers. Some had even succeeded in taking trenches but were quickly mowed down. The regulars and policeman had immediatly taken cover.

There was no need to annihilate the enemy now, it was a war of attrition. This counter-attack, although coustly, was much more costly to the enemy in terms of men and ammunition,as they had much less to spare. After almost 5 days on the Grenanda, with no re-supplies the enemy had to have exhausted most of or was completely out of ammunition for their weapons and food for their men. The attack the next day would be faced was much less resistance as there was simply not enough ordinance for the enemy to fire at them.

The two land based fighters at the Naval Base which had been surprised by the para-drop were on continous alert for any more re-inforcements that wished to arrive. They were also finnaly brought into use in the battle. At nightfall the two F-15 Eagles blazed in on the enemy positions and dropped 6 canisters of Napalm on the un-suspecting para-troopers setting the woods alight. The Wirrawayan commanders had made sure that the wind was blowing North, and away from their forces when they authorized the attack.

Northern Task Force

The Northern Task force had switched modes, instead of trying to reach the capital they were staying put and tying down this unit out in the North of the Country. The first major victory was one of deception. It seemed that the enemy was fond of taking shots at whatever raised its head. There- fore they put 4 helmets on sticks and raised them above the trench. Almost immediatly a hail of fire from men and the tank blew them away. At the same time a 2 Javelin missile crews breifly exposed themselves on the other end of the trench and fired 2 missiles at the offending tank.

OOC: Ya I think this could definitly turn into the first TGC thread.

OOC:Oh, so we can use air support. If you read, I mentioned that I had missile teams opening up as soon as the Strykers came into view, they wouldn't have had much of a chance to do anything. The mortars are in a position near the CP were they can cover a large area, my idea of the battle was that the Northern task force was close to them. And if your artilery was firing in front of your guys when they reached the trench, wouldn't they be missing?

Outside of St. George's

The attack had been successfully repeled, and a thousand men lie slaughtered before them...

Several C17s took off from Doomingsland to resuply the embattled force with more food and ammunition. They had an exact fix on the friendly troops, so the supplies would be delivered with a good degree of accuracy. When they arrived, they found the woods to be on fire. They still managed to drop the supplies over the CP, and each man now had enough food for 5 more days, and 1000 spare rounds of ammunition. Another 6 mortars had also been dropped, greatly increasing capabilities...

Over 80 men had been incinerated in the strike, a crushing blow to the defencive force. Something had to be done.

The major had made contact with the high command via satelite phone, and requested a tactical strike on the forces in front. And hour later, two F35A JSFs took off, and headed toward the battle, loaded with cluster munitions.

Checkpoint Oscar-

The two missiles streaked toward the sky, and came crashing down on the tank, hurling the turret through the air. The men were now very pissed, and decided to hold fire until they were positive the enemy was advancing. Night began to fall, and the thermals were switched on...

OOC: Wait what about the two F-15's defending the air-space and AA units, its not like the transports could have just waltzed in there and dropped their cargo. I didn't realize the two battles were so close, in that case, fine. O and also, on the re-supply and force side can we keep our main nation's armed forces out of this, I mean this is just a localized conflict, unless you want to expand it of course........that would be most enjoyable.

Naval Base, Grenada

The F-15's had landed and were being re-fuled and re-stocked when the scramble came in, enemy transports in-bound.

"Not this time buddy." said airman Vacari as he closed his canopy and taxied to the runway. In 5 minutes he and his wingman were aloft. The powerful Hughes radar quickly picked up the lumbering transports as they tried to make thier way inland. Already the 2 SAM batteries over St.George had opened up, launching HAWK SAM's at the transports. The F-15 arrived too late, the transports could not hope to avoid the SAM's and were blown out the sky, their mission failed (OOC: this is not a godmod, can you imagine sending an un-armed, slow, and un-manuevarable transport plane without an escort over a live battlefield). The F-15's continued on station. As they cruised around they were informed of more inbounds with only faint radar signatures.

"They look to be JSF's carrying exterior ordinance, its the only way we picked them up' said the radar controller, "there coming in to pound our boys, take 'em out Vacari."

Vacari grinned savagely, the JSF's were more of a ground attack aircraft not the throughbred his plane was. They would be slow and easy targets laden with bombs as they were.......

St.George
In the battle field out-side St.George a stale mate had developed but the para-troopers were at a marked dis-advantage as Napalm had burned away all the foliage and camo that had once covered the Para-troopers positions. Seeing how weak the opposing force was, soldiers chomped at the bit, but were told to stay put by their officers.

The burned wasteland on the other side was shooting gallery, anything that moved was greeted by a hail of bullets. The Strykers were pulled back from the battle due to thier inability to deal with the opposing missile teams and were instead used as mobile artillery, directing fire wherever it was needed....

Northern Grenada
The team celebrated after destroying the tank, but quickly re-gained composur as fire was re-doubled on their position. They would wait out the night, NVG's were put on and sentrys watched the wooded hills in which the enemy was grouped.......

OOC:The JSF has an internal bomb bay, how could you see me? The transports aren't very slow, and are pretty durable, they could probably limp their way to deliver their payload before going down.

Above Grenada-

"SAM launch! Evade!" yelled the pilot of a C17 as a SAM collided with his number 3 engine. The other transport didn't fare as well, and had its entire wing blown off. The transport limped toward the friendly forces, and delivered its payload before errupting in a plume of flame. Only three of the six mortars had been delivered, but enough food to last the men three days, and 500 rounds of ammunition each were brought in.

"SkyEye here, I count two bandits headed your way on vector 060. Proceed to target, then turn to engage bandits."

"Roger, SkyEye, this is Viper One, engaging ground targets."

The JSFs would prove far more than a match to the outdated F15s, each JSF carried 4 CBUs, two AMRAAMs, and two sidewinders. The veteran pilots would easily be able to take on the inferior Eagles...

Meanwhile, they stealthily approached the target:the enemy trench.

"Viper One, approaching target." he said, alligning his reticle with the trench. "Viper One, pickle." the weapons bay opened, and the bombs were released, and at the same time further down the line, Viper Two released his payload. The ground beneath them was covered in dust as shrapnel filled the air, cutting men to pieces. The fighters then turned to engage the bandits who had just arrived.

Outside of St. George's

The men looked on in awe as the cluster bombs landed 100 meters in front of them, raking the enemy trenches, and sending shrapnel whistling through the air. The rounds from the Strykers began to hit, killing several, but guided anti-tank mortars were fired in reponse. The men began to gather supplies, and bring it back to the lines, while the new mortars were set up to provide more support fire.

OOC: My bad, but the internal bomb bay can't hold cluster bombs and all the air to air ordinance, its no big enough. So I'll rp it from a veyr reduced radar signiture. BTW thanks for changing the transports so it was more realistic.

Above Grenada-
The F-15 lock on the approaching fighters was very shaky, one minute it was there and one minute is was gone. Then they were lost for good,

"shit" cursed Vacari, "where are those bastards."

The question was answered 2 minutes later as the area outside of St.George's exploded in flame.

"Jeezus Christ" whispered Vacari as tiny explosions peppered the ground, he could not comprehand the carnage. He quickly dropped his fighter along with his wing-man to tree-top level and turned off his radar, making up very hard to pick up on radar. The JSF's on the other hand were still emitting (I assume you had your radar on, if not disregard this) and were being picked up by ground based radar receivers. The Eagles armed their AMRAAM missiles and fed them the target data supplied from the ground stations.

After a lock was established the missiles lept off the rails towards the JSF's.

Outside of St. George's
The carnage was immense on the battle-field outside St.George's. The bomblets exploded everywhere, peices of metal zinged through the air cutting flesh and bone. After the last bomblet went off there were almost 200 dead from the attack. The officers quickly re-grouped their units and put in 100 new conscripts taken from the city to partially re-build the damage to the Army. Some mortars landed near the Strykers but the beauty of mobile artillery was its nea rinvulnerability. The Strykers shot and moved, the mortars landed where they had been. The rest of the army dug in for the night and prepared for the final assault the next morning.

OOC:No, I've got an AWACS guiding them from a few hundred miles away. The internal bomb bay of a JSF can hold all that stuff. And remember those mortar shells are guided, so I'd expect one or two of your Strykers go go up in flames.

Above Grenada-

"SkyEye here, enemy aircraft confirmed at vector 030, twelve miles."

"Roger, SkyEye, engaging."

The two JSFs broke formation, and headed to the F15s. At 5 miles away, both of them launched two sidewinders, then closed to engage with cannons.

On the ground

The mortars took advantage of the chaos in the enemy lines, and began putting incidiary rounds into the trenches. OICW gunners began to fire over the enemy trench with their smart rounds, which would explode right above the trench, killing or maiming whoever was unfortunate enough to be within ten yards of the explosion. The enemy artilery had taken its toal, though. 41 men had been killed or wounded, bringing the total force manning that trench down to 300.

Vaccari was still skimming the tree-tops when the missile warning system came to life, red-lights flashed at he punched out flares and turned for the enemy. He armed his two sidewinders and pointed his aircraft in the general direction where the missiles came from. The seeker heads on the all-apature side-winders screeched their lock as the heat from the JSF's lit up the cold night. He punched off the two missiles.

"2 snakes away" he called to his wingman, who fired the same ordinance.

Swiftly Vaccari wrenched his aircraft around in 5 g flat turn, the airframe groaning under the stress, and skimmed the tree-tops shooting flares all the way. One of the missiles locked onto a flare while the exploded about 100 feet from his airplane, pepering the Eagle with sharpnel. Nothing major was hit, but Vaccari continued to run. His wingman was not so lucky, he took a side-winder up the talipipe and cartwheeled into the ground......

St.George

One of the Strykers had not moved quickly enough the escape the guided mortar and was hit on the roof. It exploded in a gout of flame, incinerating its crew. The rest of the Strykers pounded the mortar positon as did the two howitzers and the entire motar section of the army. The Strykers then moved out of the range of the mortars. They could still fire at the enemy but only at the very first line of defense.

The ordinance exploding above the trenches was picking away at the Concordiat forces, so far had 100 had been lost or wounded from the Mortar fire. More Conscripts continued to flow into St.George, but their lack of training often made them more of a liability than a help in the battle.

"Viper One, there is still one bandit remaining."

"I see 'em."

All of the sidewinders had missed the stealth aircraft, and exploded harmlessly in the sky. Now it was time for a gun fight, and the F15 wouldn't stand a chance to the super-manueverable JSFs. Viper One decided he would take this kill, and Viper Two broke off, and headed toward the enemy artilery and mortar sections. When he arrived, he began strafing the troops and howitzers with his 25mm cannon, but wasn't soon enough to prevent casualties among the friendly mortar section. All but two mortars were destroyed, these mortars fled to another position. Viper One pursued his enemy, and his computer calculated a lead for his cannon. He then opened fire...

This wan't the first time he'd been in a dogfight, he'd also gone up against Aquatian airmen during the NIA standoff, and gained the title of ace.

On the ground-

The mortar section had to relocate due to enemy fire, and 4 of them were destroyed, the other two began to conitnue putting fire in the trenches from the new position. The men continued to fire the smart rounds at enemy forces without letting up, constantly targetting a new area for destruction. The enemy artilery still rained down, only with less efficiency due to the destruction of one of the Strykers, and the pulling back of the other two. Major Benneli had caught on to the idea of using the main gun of the M8s as a mobile howitzer, and had it open fire from its current position on the enemy trench. A smoke screen was deployed around the vehicle to prevent guided mortars from locking on, as well as Javelines.

Vaccari gripped the control stick tenaciuosly aginst the G forces pounding his body. He knew the JSF was out there but he wasn't sure where. Deciding that it was not a time for missiles he toggled his Vulcan Cannon. He also decided that his Eagle was not made to fight down in the mud.

Without a second thought, he pushed on his after-burner and rocketed up to 25,000 feet in a matter of seconds. He was cruising over St.George when suddenly a stream of tracers shot over the back of his air-craft. Flying on pure instinct, he dove into a split S in an attempt to lose his attacker. Nevertheless some of the bullets hit his wing in a neat line and hydrolic fluid began streaming behind his aircraft as he fought to get a bead on his attacker.

Grenada

In the ground battle the Command Staff decided that the best way to utililize the conscripts still being brought up was to send them to the embattled Northern Task Force. From the East of Island about 200 natives had been raised and were under the control of Wirrawayan officer. They immediatly set out to help the NTF break out from behind the hill.....

St.George

Although the mortar fire had slackend quite alot after the bombardment, new fire was coming from some artillery. The commander had unwisely decided to deploy a smoke-screen around his new weapon to camoflouge it. This, incidentally became a convienient aiming point for the two howitzers and mortars which began to pour fire on its position. The troops contineud to wait for the signal to attack. Since the last engagement only 5 men had been lost due to the lull in the fighting.

OOC:No, the JSF has a highly IR reduced signature, why do you think they call them stealth? They're IR and radar reduced signatures. And didn't my strafing run on your artilery do anything? Viper One continued to follow his target, and waited for him to make a mistake...

Well, his waiting was rewarded when the bandit executed a split S.

Thank you, oh lord, he thought to himself as he matched the Eagle's move, and got right on his ass, thanks to the high maneuverability. He fired another 20-round burst at the bandit. If this didn't get him, he would simply continue to stay with him. The F15 was no good against a stealth aircraft with vectored thrust in a dogfight...

On the ground

"This... Iron Two, taking heavy...pulling...heavy damage...," came a crackle on the radio as Iron Two came under artilery and mortar fire. The M8 has better armor compared to the Stryker, and the anti-personel mortars didn't do much damage, the howitzers, however, did damage the vehicle. He pulled out of the smoke screen, now very battered and damaged. It would be out of action for a while...

Meanwhile, the men continued to pour OICW fire into the trenches, never letting up. Some began to run low on ammo, but with the amount of rounds they were firing, there wouldn't be many people left to kill.

Checkpoint Oscar-

The men looked out into the distance, scanning the horizon. By chance, one of the men got a heat signature approaching from the east.

"This is CP Oscar, do we have any friendlies approaching from the east?"

"Negative, Oscar. Any targets coming from that direction are hostile."

"Roger that. OK, men, out some rounds on those targets."

Twenty men gathered over on the east side of the trench opened fire with machineguns and rifles at the oncoming targets...

The strafing run had caught the Howitzer crews completly off guard. They were in the midst of unloading a spent shells when the JSF zoomed by. The 25mm bullets kicked up earth all around the crews and weapons, killing 8 crew members and wounding 5 more. One of the bullets hit the loading mechanism on one of the howitzers putting it out of action until repairs could be made. The other gun was put back into action as soon the JSF left.

Vaccari knew his was at a huge disadvantage as he attempted to dog-fight with one of the most manuverable aircraft in the world. The world spun in his eyes as he pulled hard on the stick. He found himself over the battle field

"Shit." he thought to himself as tracers began rising up to meet his aircraft, he tried to dodge them but his manuevers were cut short as another burst of cannon fire wracked his plane, this time doing fatal damage. He had lost the right side engine and most of his right stabilizer, the plane begand to pitch and roll.

Furious, Vaccari pushed his remaining engine to full power, pointed his aircraft and the trench farthest to the north and pushed the stick down. He steered his burning aircraft straight at the enemy positions. At 5,000 feet he ejected and para-sailed his way into friendly territory. While he was aloft he got the oppurtuninty to watch his aircraft slam straight into the enemy's lines and explode in a massive ball of fire.

St.George

The troops in the trench being countinually peppered by OICW fire began to retaliate by firing the grenade launchers attached to their M-16's back at the enemy troops. Some soldiers had dragged felled trees and metal plates taken from the destroyed Strykers to create a roof of sorts. Others weren't so lucky, an additional 150 had been killed or wounded by the OICW weaponry.

The Wirrawayan High Command knew this was turning into a stalemate it was time for Psych-Ops, A loud speaker was brought out the battlefield under a white flag and following message was broadcast

This war is going no-where, you do not have enough troops to reach your objective, we will give you the oppurtunity to surrender now. We have many more men than you, its the entire population of our island vs. only 300 or so of you. Already we have another 300 conscripts being trained and many more on the way. Make the smart decision and put down your weapons before we crush you, we will return you to your native land if you do so; you have our word.

The Wirrawayan officer had been told in advance where the enemy was positioned by the leader of the Northern Task Force, but apparantly they had moved. The tell-tale muzzle flashes of incoming fire lit up the night.

"Down, every-body down." The whole company dropepd, but some were not quick enough and were killed instantly by the heavy fire.

"We've lost 5 sir" said the captain's aide.

"Dammit if they only would listen....Tell the men to dig in on that hill, then we'll have the buggers almost surrounded."

The Company crawled up the hill as bullets ripped over their heads and mortars shook the ground. Covering fire was laid down into the woods and the Northern Task Force repsonded by firing into the woods also. By the time the Eastern Task Force had dug in, they had lost 15 to mortars and rifles.

In the skies-

"Nice kill, Viper One," said the AWACS bird from several hundred miles away. Viper had been tought the fly-the-plane-into-enemy-forces trick. He had also been tought how to counter it. The Eagle was now flying in a nice predictable path, and he decided to use radar. He switched his radar on, and locked onto the falling Eagle very quickly, all of the thinking and acting occuring in almost less than a second.

"Viper One, fox two, fox two, two away." he said as he loosed his two AMRAAMs, and watched as the fighter erupted in a plume of flame and shattering into pieces, knocking it off course and into the ground in front of the trench. He quickly turned off his radar after this. He still had 120 cannon rounds left, and decided to go use them.

He flew into St. George's as his wingman had, but this time to the mortar section. He spotted the tubes from several hundred meters away, and opened fire. He watched as the 25mm HE rounds streaked toward the positions, and disapeered in a large cloud of dirt. Afterwords, he came around, firing on each individual position, until he was down to just ten rounds. Finnaly, he flew back toward friendly lines, and spotted one of the Strykers. He was 300 feet up, and dove down, putting all ten rounds through the roof. He then broke for home, deciding he'd caused enough havoc for one day.

Outside of St. George's

The men heard the propaganda speaker, and were puzzled. What was this word...surrender, these cowards speak of, the men said to one another. All of the indoctrination and brainwashing the men had gone through as children began to kick in, and they began to fight even harder than before, and yelling loudly. The M203 rounds(I'm assuming this is the nade launcher you're using on your M16, I know of no other that can be) had caused some damage, but were no were near as effective as the supperior OICWs (yes, damn me and my sophisticated tech). Only twelve men had been killed or wounded from the enemy grenades, since the enemy grenadiers would have to stand up over the trench to get a good shot, while the OICWs could fire from over the cover without exposing themselves, thanks to their HUD system. Of course, the men continued to rain OICW rounds, and they called mortar fire onto the steel roofs.
Major Benneli did, however, agree with the statement that the war was going nowhere.

"Sarge, can you come here a minute?"

"What do you need, sir?"

"Can you hand me the package?"

"Yes, sir." replyed Sgt. Hayes, taking a package out of his rucksack. Benneli toom out his knife, and cut the wraping off, revealing a briefcase. He opened it up, and began to type in a code.

"OK, it'll go off if I'm killed, or if I set it off."

"Very good, sir." replied the sergeant, who had begun to dig a small hole. The briefcase was shut, then burried.

"There will be no winners, Sarge."

"I know, sir."

The troops watched in horror as their last remaining aircover fell from the sky in a ball of fire and then exploded in mid-air. They all knew what was coming next. The word was passed to get into the trenches. Mortar teams and exposed units abandoned their positions, running for the nearest avaliable trench . The few mobile AA guns, Oerlikon designs, were cranked into position. Then suddenly out of the night sky a JSF blew in, spewing tracers as it made multiple runs against the abandoned mortars. Before leaving the JSF's put another Stryker out of commision leaving the force with 2, they were hastily camoflouged. The Oerlikons fired at the retreating aircraft hoping one of thier rounds has scored a hit.

Out of a total of 12 mortars, 5 remained after the strafing attack. Just as soon word was passed to the military Depot in St.George and new ones were sent out to replace the damaged tubes. Alas the force could only be brought up to 10 as supplies were a little short, but newly found White Phosphorous rounds were brought up and put into immediate use. The Howitzer's loading mechanism was brought up along with the Mortars and was in the process of being replaced. The 300 new conscripts were also added to the battle.

Northern/Eastern Task Force

At the other battle site the Northern Task Force quickly shifted thier fire to the newly exposed Southern enemy force, while the Eastern Task force continued to the fire on the old positions. The Northern taks force had lost several men before they could localize the new fire and respond to it. The Eastern Task force set up their mortars and loaded them with white phosphurous rounds, setting the woods in which the enemy was hiding alight(good old fashioned wiley pete).

OOC:You know what they say, there's no winners in war. That will pretty much sum it up.

IC:

Outside of St. George's

The men had come up with a use for the damaged M8. The turret was still operational, so they had dug a large ditch, drove it in, and buried the hull. It would be very difficult to hit it now, as the gun pod is a small, yet deadly target. It would remain this way until the enemy made their finaly charge, it would then commence firing.

Meanwhile, the WP rounds began coming down, giving severe burns to several men. Their ASC suits, however, were fire-proof, and only a direct hit from the rounds would actualy kill them. The two remaining mortars returned fire on the enemy mortar section, they now had exact coordinates from the flyover by the F35. They began pumping incidiery rounds down on top of the enemy mortars, hoping to set the enemy ammunition stores alight, and cuase a massive chain reaction.

The men in the trenches ran low on smart rounds, each man with 3 eight round magazines left, but still had normal rounds. The normal rounds couldn't be programed, but the advaced targeting system on the weapon would allow for a high degree of accuracy. They still continued to pour rounds down on the enemy trench.

Checkpoint Oscar-

The mortar rounds began landing in the woods around the trench, setting the area around them ablaze. They still had a decent view of the enemy, and the M60s began to fire on the very vulnerable mortar crews, with two of them targetting the ammunition stores. The OICW gunners among the men began to fire smart rounds at the enemy forces, putting them in the same situation as their counterparts on the other side of the paratroopers.

OOC:Why don't we make your next post the charge so we can end this, shall we?

OOC: I'm game.

St.George

There had been enough waiting. The forces were in position, although the loss of 5 of the 10 mortars due to enemy fire was a set-back, the restoration of the howitzers more than made up for their loss. The mortars had been lost when well-directer counter fire had hit an ammunition crate setting off a deadly chain reaction which incinerated and blew apart all the the western mortar squad. The Eastern used millimeter mave radar in their command jeep to re-construct the trjectory of the incoming rounds and launch their own counter-battery attack, the howitzer was also used in the fire mission.

The Concordait forces waited until the dead of night, no warning was given and no softening-up barrge was prepared. Silently the men formed up into their units, every commander had set his watch at the General breifing. Flashbang Grenades were passed out and laoded into grenade launchers, hopefully they would blind some of the defenders. The artillery units were working off maps supplied by Wirrawayan RORSAT'S and planned their opening salvos.

At 02300 the attack stepped off without warning and 1,850 men poured out of their trenches under planned artillery and mortar fire, this time there was no turning back, no matter what the circumstances. Before leaving the troops had all fired 2-flash-bang grenades each and then left the trench.

Firing lanes had been pre-established and 20 M-60 crews and in an added twist the 4 Oerlikon 25-mm anti-aircraft guns fired down them, laying down some serious covering fire. The rest of the troops sprinted into the woods firing their M-16's from the hip and shooting grenades into the trenches before them. Although the return fire was murderous the men held their resolve and kept on running to advanced spots where they could take cover and then break through the lines. The artillery was halted as it was now raining down on friendly troops, the mortars were quickly brought up and put back into action while howitzers were towed into postion. The Strykers moved up with the Howitzers waiting until they had to be committed. This was it, the final push to rid Grenada of its invaders.

OOC: whoever said the mortar crews were exposed, they're behind the hill, the whole point of a mortar is to shoot over things.

Northern/Eastern Task Force

Bullets whizzed over the mortar crews's heads and they quickly decided to change postions. Unfortunatly they moved right into a OICW burst, which took out 4 men, an entire crew, 3 men were culled from the ranks in an attempt to get the mortar back in action.

Outside of St. George's-

It was the moment of truth. The men had been awaiting it for the past several days, and it had finnaly come. The men used their HUD systems to fire over the cover without exposing themselves, except for the M60 crews, who fired wildly into the crowd of enemies. The mortars had been knocked out during the last counter battery barrage, so their was no artiliery support. Or so they thought... The dug in M8 began pouring 105mm shells into the ranks of the enemy, while the OICW gunners switched to normal rounds, and began to fire at an extremely high rate. When the enemy came within 50 yards, each man tossed several frag grenades, and then continued to fire.

Although the men layed a huge amount of fire down on the enemy, several platoons succeeded in making it to the trench, and began to sweep through. The fighting then became most ferocious, with men clubbing and stabbing one another. The Doomingslanders were expert hand-to-hand fighters, and masters of the bayonet(there's were 18 inches long), and managed to keep from being completely overrun. Major Benneli saw just how dire the situation was, and ordered the M8 to fire into the trench in areas infiltrated by the enemy.

Finnaly, the major stepped out of his tent, his rifle in hand, his bayonet fixed, and bravely stepped toward the battle, with the sergeant close behind...

So far, nearly half the force had been killed, leaving only 149 men alive. So far, no one had been taken prisoner, in stead, if they saw they might be taken, they set their self-destruct device. Each man had a block of C4 embedded in his armor, making him double as a suicide bomber.

OOC: nice touch with the suicide bombers.

The Wirrawayan troops sprinted into the trenches under intese enemy fire. The regular Concordait troops were skilled in hand to hand combat and used their 10 in bayonetes, rifle buts, and pistols skillfully. The natives were another story. The terrified islanders attempted to put up and fight but were hopeless outmatched by the elite para-troopers. The one thing that saved from total annihilation was the 9mm standard issue pistols which they began to use instead of their rifles and bayonets. So far 900 men had been killed or incapacitated staggering losses for one charge, many of them inflicted byt he staionary tank, but that still left a little over 1,000 troops to fight in the trenches. Slowly but surely the superior numbers began to take thier toll on the para-troopers. Artillery spotters ranged the immobile tank turret and soon artillery, Stryker cannon fire and mortar fire began to rain down on its position even as it continued to fire into its own trenches killing Wirrawayans and Para-troopers alike. A nasty surprise was discovered when some Wirrawayan troops attempted to take 10 para-troopers prisoner. As the troops closed on the para-troopers they whole area exploded as they para-troopers detonated themselves, killing 6 Wirrawayans and injuirng another 10. It was decided that no prisoners would be taken after that incident, all para-troopers were shot on sight.

The Oerlikon AA gun units were brought around the side of the trenches and began to lay down enfilading fire(cross-fire) at the para-troopers being slowly pushed back by the Wirrawayan forces. The Strykers were also activated and put on alert to possible deployment.

So far there were 950 Wirrawayan troops still left fighting. They had suffered over 45% losses but fueled by the anger of losing their comrades they pushed on valiantly against the elite troops.

OOC:I know, my whole army is outfitted like this.

The End?

The men contiued to hold their ground, not giving up an inch of soil. The only way the enemy advanced, was by killing every last man in the positions. There was no retreating. The men did get one last laugh when the natives came at them with 9mms, by looking at their faces when the bullets bounced off their armor. There were only 40 men alive, and they continued to fight to the death, almost in a religious frenzy.

Major Benneli had, like every other man, decided to kill as many enemy soldiers before he himself was in turn, killed. He jumped into the trench, surprising a squad of Wirrawayans. He immediatly opened fire, cutting them down, while they returned fire. He immediatly ducked into a corner, and reloaded. He then lept back out, surpirsing two men trying to sneak up on him, and blew them both away. Finnaly, someone came up behind him, and impaled him with a bayonet. He fell to the ground twisting over and falling on his back. He flipped open his visor, revealing himself. He had pale skin and red eyes, and was completely clean shaven on his head. He had a twisted smile on his face, and uttered his last words:

"You lose..."

All of a sudden, there was a blinding flash, and the city and the forest were all replaced by a mushroom cloud as the 6 kiloton SADM went off, incinerating both armies.

Outpost Alpha, Northern Grenada

The sergeant in charge looked on at the mushroom cloud as it reached toward the heavens.

Well, I suppose we won... he thought to himself. Only twelve paratroopers remained alive on the island.

He got on his radio,

"This is OP Alpha, mission objective completed, enemy main body annihilated. Send in the cavalry."

Two hours later, the marines hit the beaches, and siezed the remainder of the island.

The stage was set for war. Only one question remained: had they gone too far?

OOC:Well, now the stage is set for an official RP.

OOC: I guess we'll open it up to the rest of TGC now, and I assume that was a tactical nuke and didn't take out the city.

The Wirrawayan High command did not take the loss of their Island Base of Grenada very well, in fact they were furious, not only at its loss but also the use of nuclear weaponry. Immediatly they began marshalling forces from the colonies and the Regular Concordiat Army to re-take the island

Northern/Eastern Task force

The Mushroom cloud and following shockwave awed the members of the task force. They knew that the rest of their army was gone, and it was time for Guerilla warfare, the landing of thousands of Doomingsland Marines only drove home the point. They broke off from thier engagements and headed to the Northern Highlands to re-group and plan their guerilla war.

BTW we need to remember that that area outside St.George is no longer passable and that St.George has now been contaminated by nuclear fallout.
