In an effort to join the international community, the country of Arx Imbrium is offering interested countries in training groups of men and women for their home militaries in our land. Transportation from our borders inland will be provided.

The climate of Arx Imbrium is harsh and hot, lying on the equatorial zones. The terrain is endless sand as far as the eye can see, dust storms ravaging the surface. Our people live in massive complexes dug into the rocky mountain outcroppings dotting the landscape. Our people, not only our soldiers, are extremely resilient to the heat and weather, our equipment and technology reflecting that. On top of that, survival training includes going without water for extended periods of time. Our people have also developed resistances to thirst due to the shortage of water in our country.

Only about 100 soldiers at a time will be allowed to train, both in sand survival as well as the operation of specialized equipment. Be aware of the weather, the heat, and the estimated mortality rate of most normal humans under such conditions.

Transportation will be provided due to the unique terrain and harsh weather. Make sure your men and women are prepared. Ask for any details that you may need.

What tempertures are we talking about here?

Harsh heat during the day, extreme cold at night. During the day, temperatures will exceed 130 degrees Fahrenheit, and at night it will go below freezing. It is a desert, and winds only lend to the cruel environment. Hot winds during the day and freezing winds during the night. The only reason it doesn't snow in Arx Imbrium is because of the lack of any airborn moisture. Clouds are a rare sight as well, though the nights do offer spectacular views of the stars above.

Any officials are welcome to accompany their troops, all will be given quarters within the Citadel of Dreams before assigned to sandships and crawlers for their training.

is this some sort of attempt to create privatised fremen/fedaykin/sardaukar armies? cause if it is, that's just plain cool. i don't really need any, but your climate is far harsher than mine, so it stands to reason they should be tougher than my other troups, and i could use some water deprived death commandos anyway, so why not. go ahead. take a hundred of my elite special forces and mess with them as much as you want.

Moles are capable of surviving these tempertures (comfatably as well) as they are unaffected by tempertures rranging from -30C to +90C so your climate will be no problem.
However, my veichles may not be able to. We wish to test are tanks, APC's and some of my other ground based infantry in top secret. We hereby request that you do observe our training, if this acceptable.

((Dark Lord: Do you just intend to send them off to my country or will you oversee their initial assignments? We can role-play out the meetings and then over the course of say, a month or two IRL... you'll get 70 to 80 of your troops back, hardened, trained in survival, and ready to serve in any hard desert climate... makes for interesting special forces...))

Moleland: We will allow your training within our borders, we will send the sand cruiser Rogue and her captain and crew to oversee your work and provide assistance. Be warned that dust can get into everything and we do offer assistance and devices to help clean your equipment as needed. Bear in mind that my men and women will not attack yours nor get closer than observation range of our aircraft unless asked, but any act of aggression will be retaliated against with full force.

We shall meet you in a day's time. Our 'equipment' will not need a lift. We shall drive it to your testing ground.

The testing ground is ten miles within our border. The site is marked on the map and Syrtis City is the nearest city at fifteen miles from teh site. This site has been chosen as the weather is clear and dust storms are not expected for another two days. If there is any particular help you need with transportation or equipment, do not hesitate to ask. The sands are deep and shift, do keep cautious.

La Habana's Military requests to buy 5 Square Miles of uninhabited Arx Imbrium terrain, for the purpose of setting up an miltary airport, a military base and training facility. This base will solely be used by our troops for the purpose of extreme-conditions training. Arx Imbrium can decide on the cost and location of the land. La Habana will also sign a Non-Aggression Treaty with Arx Imbrium if the deal is successful. We could also consider setting up a Trade Agreement, as Arx Imbrium may be interested in some of the products that La Habana manufactures, as we have a developed Publishing industry and developing Tobacco industry (mainly cigars). La Habana hopes that we can set up mutually beneficial diplomatic relations.
Arx Imbrium
14-09-2004, 15:11
La Habana: Unfortunately, your request will have to be denied. The terrain of Arx Imbrium will not support any installations as the sands go deep and within days any buildings and equipment will by buried by the shifting dunes. The windstorms are also terribly violent and will easily destroy anything less than reinforced stone or metal. It is not for our sake that we deny the request, it is for the safety of your troops and your people that we cannot allow any attempts to tame this land. Like the great Sahara or Death Valley, very few can inhabit the open terrain. Namely our water traders and the sand weasels that frolic above and below the sands. A trade agreement may be discussed, but all that can truly be offered is lodging and training for a group of troops, that your leaders will be able to oversee if they so wish.

We need to train a certain knighthood of ours for, special operations. The Golden Corsairs of the Mediterranean, a marine special operations unit, is preparing for operations in heavy desert terrain. They number in total approximately 900 in number, but we can send them one hundred at a time as needed. they are very well trained in close combat, marine assault, seafaring, land and sea navigation (the clear skies of the night will help immensely), and various survival skills to deter lack of water (it is just as hard to find on the open sea as in the desert.) We will pay a price if you require one. We await a reply.- Security Minister Gregorio Ducheski

ATTN: Security Minister Gregorio Ducheski

We can accept all 900 of your troops if the minister or any other officials of rank wish to join them and assist in their organization. As you said that they are preparing for heavy desert operations it would be better if all of them were trained about the same time and allowed to communicate back and forth for cohesion. Their current training and expertise will allow at least 90% of them to survive this enhanced training, especially the lack of water. The price may be set by you and your ministers, though material goods are preferable to any sort of monetary compensation (metals, chemicals) as it would assist in our manufacturing until we can perfect our current techniques without the aid of outside catalysts. They will augment the crews of our various sandships on their routine patrols, and the largest of the group (as well as any officers) will have the honor of joining the chiefs of state aboard the Leviathan for an extended patrol of borders.

Dear Training Co-ordinators,

We are interested in your offers of training personnel from other nations and would like to submit a small group of our own in order to further test them and build up their resistance to extreeme conditions.

These individuals have already undergone extensive training in similar environments from Iuthia, but such environments are hardly as harsh as the conditions your people have to deal with on a daily basis. We expect that these youths will perform well as their training is somewhat unusual in comparison to others and the training they would recieve in your nation will further test their limits and capabilities.

We will pay hansomly for this training due to the rather confidential matter of these subjects training. You're people may find them odd and highly perceptive... we assure you this is part of their training.

thanks,

A group of your troops would be accepted. If you wish for them to have the best training available, they will certainly be assigned to the Leviathan under Fio's command. Transportation can be arranged immediately. We can pick them up directly from your nation or a meeting place outside of both nations of your designation. The nature of our nation's terrain would make it exceedingly dangerous if you were to attempt your own transport into our lands.

Dear Training Co-ordinators,

We thank you for accepting our group for training, you may pick them up from our nation using the transportation used for the Diplomats you are sending to us... it's only a small group of ten students. However they represent a program of five years special training in new potent techniques for their future job roles... this training they will recieve from yourselves will hopefully demand more from them and push them to new limits while dealing with this level of endurance training. You may even find one of them becoming a diplomat to your nation in future years as this group is coming from a specialised devision of the Iuthian Diplomatic Corps.

Regardless, you will find the unclassified information we can permit your security officials to see attached to this document. We hope this information will help serve you well as it covers the basic medical results from their latest tests... they are of excellent condition; possibly some of the fittest people in Iuthia, however despite their worth we don't want any special conciderations for these students... they are to get the full dangers of any other living in your nation.

Thank you again for this opportunity, we look forward to updates of their progress.*

Foriegn Minister Mick Lakely, Iuthian Diplomatic Corps

* OOC:I don't expect actually updates, it's just part of the message to make it look more official.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

The small group had prepared for the journey in advance, preparing nothing but the bare essentials and a few minor personal possesions to remind them of home and the few "family" they had gained through their relatively simple life in the Iuthian military training programs.

They were all youths in a sense, only around 18-21 years of age, a group of mixed gender with six men and four women. All many of those who got into Iuthia's specialist training programs they didn't have any blood relatives; but they got the option of not being so heavily involved with the military... very few of the children raised in Iuthian orphanages, which were run by the military, chose not to continue their education with the military. The option was something new in resent years with the change of leadership, very symbolic of James deGritz.

Now they waited in their desert BDU's at the Iuthian Airport... they found it odd that this nation with little access to plains would be using them, but it was a requirement really given Iuthia's distance, no doubt they would leave the plane in a near by nation and cross the border in a more traditional method used by the natives... it would be a interesting time in the training program coming up. It was only hoped that they would all survive the harsh environment coming up...

OOC: Up to you if you want to RP the training in any way or not... I'm not too worried eitherway due to the amount of time I have so it's down to whether you feel up to it or if you are busy and so on.

They are part of this secret program (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=366770) I'm running... given that your nation is based a little off the book "Dune" you may recognise the ideas behind this one so I'll describe a little anyways to answer any problems you may have.

Yeah, they are based around the training of a Bene-Gesserit, however it's in the lower stages and we aren't conducting the selective breeding program of which the Bene-Gesserit is known for... it's also not limited to females (as the book showed both men and women could be taught the basics) so it's more about the physical training and the observation of minutiae... I'm avoiding the total nerve control too, but not the total muscle control which we are far from.
