League of Small Nations Charter Debate

Modern Texas

(Secret IC)

The LSN Committee from Modern Texas presents some core ideals for the charter of this alliance.

1. That each member nation be fewer than 100 million citizens. When a nation exceeds 100 million citizens, it "graduates" from the alliance and becomes an allied non-member.

2. That each member nation shall open one embassy in each other member nation.

3. That any member nation may open a military base in another member's national borders, provided all parties are mutually benefitted.

4. That each member nation pledge to support one another through technical support, diplomacy, economic trade, and defensive military action.

5. The Charter Member nations will make up the LSN Governing Council and will approve all actions taken by the LSN. A simple majority is needed to pass proposals. The Armed Republic of Modern Texas will serve as the Chair of the Governing Council.

6. Each member nation is free to pursue trade, diplomatic relations, and even start wars independent of the LSN. However, keep in mind that the LSN would only provide defensive military support if a member nation is attacked without provocation.

We submit this for your discussion.

The Empire of Fate and Honor hereby agrees to all points in this charter, and I am glad that such a beneficial arrangement is in place for developing nations such as ourselves to prosper.

It's really none of our business given our population, but given the size of some nations here, 100 million is still comparatively small. Why not consider increasing that figure to 150 - 200 million?

Shandar agrees with the prosposal set by the Chair, but at almost 80 million, people, weare worried that we will graduate from the LSN without being able to reap the benefits of the alliance. We agree with Ghargonia's proposition of increasing the size limits of the League.

It seems I missed the initial sign-up, but I would still be honored to have my nation accepted into this League. I hope that Modern Texas will consider us.

Kriegorgrad would like to join this alliance, we will help defend you from bigger "bully" nations, but please note, should the nations be too big, Kriegorgrad may simply slink back into the shadows, whistling innocently :)

Greetings.

I'm interested in this alliance. However, I think the maximum population limit should be raised to 300 - 400 million.

Why?

Nations get to 100 million within 3 - 4 weeks IIRC, and 200 million within another 3 - 4 weeks.

That doesn't provide much time for nations to make good RP's with the alliance, regarding affairs of state or warfare.

If the population limit is set to 300 million, beginners will have about 3 months to work with, or 4 months if the cap is set at 400 million.

Just providing feedback. :)

The Chair recognizes these suggestions and agrees to amend article #1 to read as follows:

1. That each member nation be fewer than 500 million citizens. When a nation exceeds 500 million citizens, it "graduates" from the alliance and becomes an allied non-member.

We feel this change recognizes the points made today and will facilitate the ability for nations in this alliance to reap the fruits of their labor. Please continue to add suggestions.

Turetel

OOC: Please tell me when you need me or how you need me at the moment (perferbly by telegram).

IC: Turetel stands by this alliance 99.7% (As we do not believe in 99.8% and higher as a possible attained number for this matter overall) and will not step back down if the alliance is threatened by larger nations (I am closing in on 3 Billion within the next couple weeks). I also pledge financial assistance of a minimal of 380 Million Dollars yearly, not including the assistance of sending supplies and technology to nations that require it. (Maximum amount I can logically give is 1.3 Trillion a year, but that is roughly 2% of my budget and I don't think my people would be pleased by that [they are pleased with the 1,150% increase in Aid/Assistance groups though]).

Overview:

Pledge Undieing Military Support, even against larger nations not considered allies or potential friends.

Yearly assistance to the fund through which I will give 380 million to 1.2 Trillion yearly.

I will give roughly around 500 Million Dollars in Aid and Technology (please note that the technology is roughly 440 million of this and is commonly going to be 2nd hand or no longer needed for Turetel).

Thank you for listening to my suggestion. :)

By the way, I'd like to join this alliance to help the smaller nations like Feminany.

Texarkania is agreeable to the charter as ammended so far, but would suggest another ammendment, that being that any LSN nation that launches an uprovoked military action upon another LSN nation shall immediately be expelled from the LSN. Furthermore, the determination as to whether an attacked was unprovoked or reasonably provoked shall be made by a simple majority vote of the member nations of the LSN.

with that said, once the charter is officially approved, Texarkania will open Galveston for the use of those LSN nations wishing to establish naval bases, areas in Austin, Dallas, Houston or Wichita Falls for use in establishing air bases. However, all diplomatic embassies must be established in Houston, the Capital of Texarkania.

Point taken. It should be that any LSN member nation declaring war on another LSN member nation must come before the Council and account for their actions. Once both sides are heard, the Council will render a decision of which nation is guilty -- by either provoking an attack, or attacking without provocation. A simple majority will suffice. Once the guilty nation is charged, the Council will debate the punishment and, upon majority approval, shall issue their decision.

It appears that the Charter Nations have little interest in the debate of this charter. All those who have made comments were not part of the original thread, though their thoughts are welcome. However, in the interest of moving this alliance forward, the Chair will issue the following charter and those nations who still agree with it may join at will.

The Charter will be put forth shortly as the Chair is breaking for lunch at this time.

That's fine MT, its about the same as I said. Who, by the way, are the charter members? I know you and I are, but who else?
