"Destroyers of the 2nd Slaytanic Fleet approached Atoll 2978 in the Pacific this morning. The isle is in international waters, approximately five hundred kilometers from The Republic of Boghetto. Teams on board will prepare this isolated, barren isle for the testing of a ten-kiloton implosion device, to occur next week. We are upset to have to conduct an overground test, but recent world events have forced our hand. Slaytanicca has no choice in the current climate but to become a nuclear power."

OOC: There are eight old soviet battleships in the fleet. The device will be delivered later by cargo plane with escort. If I don't have any problems I'll detonate in about four hours RL. I chose Boghetto as the locality because more ships are in their waters if needed; there was no special discrimination involved :D

The People's Republic demands that this test be cancelled due to the risk of radioactive fallout causing vast numbers of civillians casualties. If the test goes ahead, and it is found that any fallout from the test has tainted the lands of the People's Republic we will consider it to have been an overt attempt at the mass slaughter of our citizens, and an appropriate response will be taken. Consider this to be an official warning.

The Republic of Serconea condemns this test and requests it is done elsewhere.

This is not a sleight on Slaytanicca, but our Republic is opposed to all nuclear testing above ground and especially in international waters.

Jackdonia approves the test and is also thinking of doing one.

The Empire of Fate and Honor would like the nation of Slaytanicca to take all measures of safety in testing their weapons. We would, however, prefer that instead of performing a nuclear test you buy the rights to produce nuclear weapons. Thus, you will not have to perform a test. The Emperor wishes that you take the responsibility of being a nuclear state very heavily, and consider the repurcussions of ever using the weapon. Please, use all restraint with this weapon in your possesion.

I don't suppose I could claim that your heavy industry is damaging my environment through CO emissions causing the greenhouse effect and causing my weather to get more chaotic? Would I have the right to declare war then or would I just be a warmongering fool like yourself?

Should your nation, or any other declare war just because of a single nuclear test (concidering the number of nations who seem to not only test their nuclear weapons, but have actually used nuclear weapons in the past) then Iuthia will not resitate to break all relations with them and place them on our Black List.

The only exception to this is that the nuclear testing deliberately damages other nations such as those it's placed near (and the word near is used lightly in thise case... given that the closest nation to the test is 500km away).

I think that nuclear testing is good because how would you know if it works?

OOC: These days they can be pretty sure about whether it will work or not through simulations. However, nuclear testing is also something which is done to show the rest of the world that you have nuclear weapons and how capable you are to use them. Basically alot of tests are "look at me, I have nuclear weapons, don't piss around with me"

Slaytanicca is grateful for the words of support from Iuthia and Jackdonia - we will remember this, friends.

We assure the nation of Fate and Honor that all possible precautions have been taken, and that we can foresee never using a nuclear weapon - we merely wish to avoid conventional warefare as much as we can.

Shildonia should not feel obliged to worry about fallout; we will not hesitate to postpone testing if weather conditions present a tangible risk of fallout harming a single foreign citizen.

We wish the nation of Serconia realise that we have no choice but to detonate above ground - we need to perform tests with relative haste to insure the saftey of our counrtymen. We would like to add that such a haste has not compromised our dedication to saftey. The tests are being performed in international waters not as a show of strength, but due to environmental concern.

We lament the resolution of Camewot to condemn these tests. We sincerely hope future relations between our nations will not be soured as a result of this.

Slaytanicca is pleased to announce the success of it's recent nuclear test. We shall begin production immediately.
