With the recent change in administrations within the Veritasean government, certain high-ranking officials, under pressure from the public, have seen fit to guide the country into a more isolationist policy. We will not renounce our membership within any alliances; however, Unum Veritas will no longer be as active within those alliances or on the international scene as a whole. Tourism and free enterprise are, of course, still highly encouraged within the nation. Economic ties will not be cut in any way.
The Veritasean military will reflect this change. Exercises will henceforth be unilateral and will focus on sharpening the Veritasean warrior's skills as opposed to relying solely on missiles, etc. A large portion of the military budget will be redirected to training purposes as opposed to appropriations of new technology. More funds will also be used to increase homeland defense. Current projects include increasing and strengthening the Coastal Defence Force, providing more radar and sonar stations throughout the region, and adding to the coastal battery arsenals. Unum Veritas will continue to operate and stage fleets out of its Atlantic Command Base.
The government of Unum Veritas will take formal stances on far fewer international incidents and will direct the majority of its attention to domestic issues. Unless something exceedingly major occurs, Unum Veritas will not be involved.
This move is not intended to strain relations with any ally or to cause suspicion amongst members of the international community. Its only goal is to restructure and further strengthen the Veritasean military and to allow the government to deal more directly with domestic issues.
