The Armed Republic of Modern Texas is in need of naval equipment. Our priorities include four Destroyers and one Aircraft carrier, depending on budget. We anticipate building up our naval forces over a period of time, and would entertain long-term contracts with a supplier.

(OOC: Hey, sorry I didn't respond to your approach in the Type 45 thread, I've not been around so much.)

The UK government has contacted Modern Texas with news that Type 42 air defence destroyers HMS Newcastle, Cardiff and Glasgow of Batch 1, and Liverpool of Batch 2 remain available for export at around £50million or US$92million a piece. There remains interest from one other nation, and construction of Type 45 destroyers is continuing with the possibility of future vessels being exported to Modern Texas.

Diplomats have been dispatched aboard a VC10, with a view to negotiating for a deal on either Type 42 or 45 vessels, including the possibility of new-build Type 42s which would fall between the two in terms of cost and capability.

Surely, you will need capable submarines to defend your new carrier. Please consider the Tigress-class light attack submarine.

Thank you for your interest in our naval needs. We would like to purchase the “Task Force” package for $26 billion. This achieves a balance between our needs and our budget. When would these ships be available? And will we need to arrange transport for them?

Task Force (23 ships)
1 Forrest-class fleet carrier (CVN)
1 Volunteer-class nuclear powered battleship (BBN)
2 Ithaca-class light cruisers (CL)
5 Evermore-class destroyers (DD)
10 Wixted-class frigates (FF)
4 Skipjack-class nuclear powered attack submarines (SSN)

We have received your order for a Task Force. Unfortunately, according to this GDP calculator (http://www.thirdgeek.com/nseconomy.php?nation=modern_texas), your overall defense budget is just over $3 billion. We would not be able to furnish you with the full task force at that price.

We would be willing to make an arrangement with you to purchase individual units on some sort of payment plan if you'd like.

We have 3 slightly used Nimitz Class Aircraft Carrier's that we will be happy to give your nation. We are depending more and more on our Infusion Class Carriers so we plan to slowly phase out the Nimitz.

We sincerely appreciate your gesture, however we feel awkward accepting such a generous gift. There are certainly natural resources we could provide in exchange, but it would be up to CL to weigh the value of our resources with the value of the naval equipment in question.

While we cannot offer you any low-budget surface ships, we can offer you a very cost effective Ballistic Missle sub:

http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=354170

It is very cost effective at $345,000,000 a sub but will still get the job done. Please note that before the subs are givien nuclear capability we must perfrom a mandatory backround check. This is for everyones safety.

Our defense budget is now over $5 billion and we are voting on legislation tonight to increase that funding. What kind of deal can we make on three Truxtin class battlecruisers?

Our government thanks you for your assistance.

We thank you for your continued correspondence. We use a figure of one third of your overall defense budget when we determine ability to purchase from the Portland Iron Works. With an overall defense budget of $5 billion, you would be able to afford one Truxtun-class battlecruiser. If you would like to make the arrangement to purchase three, we can spread the payment over three NS years [3 RL days].

Thank you for your interest in the Portland Iron Works.
