In a bold and sudden announcement this evening, the Secretary General of Saints John, Tom E. Martin, has announced that his nation will begin a series of programs and tests designed to produce, quote "Low yield atomic based explosives". The SG further went on to say, "We are not doing this as part of a military buildup. We have no intention of trying to unbalance the current world situation regarding nuclear states. This a purely economic move, with an emphasis being placed on industrial blasting."

The tiny nation of Saints John, at barely 100 million people, is hardly a match for a great many of the world's military leaders, even with its extremely overfunded and, relatively, large defense force, numbering about 10% of the population. The force is made up largely of poorly trained conscripts and support groups, with only a very small number (our sources estimate less than 50,000) making up what is considered a modern military unit.

The leaders of Saints John acknowledge this fact, and have apparently dismissed it in the hopes of creating what they feel is a unique economic opportunity. Quoting the Minister of Finance, Delbert F. Tolen, "There exists a niche in the market for a design such as we are creating, specially tailored to the needs of industrial use, especially in the area of extra-terrestrial mining and deep surface operations. A device capable of hollowing out and stabilising a chamber for a base of operations with the push of a button is, we feel, in high demand in the current market, and we have every intent of using this to our full advantage."

The Marshall of Saints John, supreme commander of military forces, could not be reached for comment.

We would be willing to help you produce these weapons. We must wait until your population reaches atleast 100 million though. If they already have, then we can begin if you would like our help.

Current surveys indicate population levels at 106 million and rising. Any assistance would be welcome, especially in locating a facility and parts to enrich fissile materials. Again, they are not weapons. They're for industry. >.>
