OCC: Leave it to TFU to call a 250 strong fleet "small". But now its time to clear things up:

1) How did you find out where the Greenskinz are? I don't remember any posts stating one of your probes (or one from your allies) stumbling onto an Ork world.

2) Skeelzania will ICly freak if a war fleet shows up on its doorstep. Ork space overlaps Skeelzanian space, and their homeworld is right on the border.

3) Its "Greenskinz", and that is not the name of a country. If you had a map, there wouldn't be a big green blob labled "Greenskinz", as it is a collective of various related races (Orks, Trolls, Smorts) who are all identified by greenish skin. The appropriate name would be "Ork Space", or "Greenskin Space", or "The Great Despotic Empire of <insert ruling warlord here>", not "Greenskinz". By saying your deploying a fleet to the Greenskinz, your saying your deploying a fleet inside of some Ork.

Anyways aren't you the same player as Greenskinz, in which case arn't you puppet wanking against the TFU?

OOC: If he found out about them ICly, he hasn't shown me how yet.

And yes, Greenskinz is a puppet. And by using the Orks to attack TFU yes, technically I am puppet wanking. However, since the Orks are 1) bound to turn on me anyway, 2) not doing all that well (50% losses at last count) and 3) aren't acting in concert with any Skeelzanian military force, I don't feel to bad about it.

As for the Skeelzanian Fist about to come down on TFU, you have to understand the situation. TFU and SKZ have never liked each other, which is why I attended the Peace Conference (shame that kinda got out of control, or I at least lost track of it). The Orks are living right next to Skeelzania, which is why they're even in contact (if the Orks were living in, say, Andromeda, Skeelzania would have no IC reason for using them as a puppet state). TFU sending a fleet to attack the Greenskinz would be like China sending a fleet to attack Mexico: the USA (in this case, SKZ) is not going to take this sitting down. Its only a short hop from "police action" to "annexation", and Skeelzania does NOT need a Fedral puppet state on the border.

Once again, that was OOC TFU, so you better not go quoting it in a RP ICly.

OOC: And by using the Orks to attack TFU yes, technically I am puppet wanking. .

OOC: I'm not advocating metagaming (i.e the use of OOC knowledge being used IC) however the point I was trying to make is that your nation is pretty much puppet wanking and there is no "technically" about it.

Here is why:

> Firstly you use Greenskinz to fight TFU - an enemy of Skeelzania

> Secondly, Skeelzania supplies Greenskinz with ships and equipment.

> Thirdly, Greenskinz takes all the damage from invading TFU, not Skeelzania who is an enemy of the now weakened TFU because you have damaged his wanky numbers.

> Finally, Greenskinz is getting help from the same alliance your main nation is in.

Now I concider your RP of Greenskinz to be pretty good, you covered Orks well, but I supported you by pointing out that some of the figures TFU is using are a little silly... however, that doesn't excuse puppet wanking and even if your nation fights Skeelzania, the chances are you will make sure to do it in your own favour, if not then the chance for abuse is there.

Maybe TFU's intel isn't entirely legitimate, I don't know. But it seems to me that neither side is clean here.

OCC: Alright, so I am puppet-wanking, and I'm not going to bother arguing that its something most powerful RL nations do (or at least try).

To date the Skeelzanians have given the Orks 1 ships, and we've given them no ground weapons aside from the odd nuclear warhead. SKZ uses all homegrown equipment, so it would look really bad if an Ork battalion toting SARs showed up. Now, a ESUS member DID supply the Greenskinz with lasguns, which would of shown ESUS involvement. However, there was no major ground action (yet) during the Ork Waagh! so theres little chance any of these lasguns were seen in action.

> Thirdly, Greenskinz takes all the damage from invading TFU, not Skeelzania who is an enemy of the now weakened TFU because you have damaged his wanky numbers.

I hope you aren't saying SKZ show actually confess and spare the poor little Orks from a beating. The whole point of using them was to indirectly attack TFU, and to a lesser extent the UFP. Now, in RL Skeelzania would deny everything and let the Orks be scattered, annihilated, whatever. Buuuut TFU is going to provoke a Skeelzanian response with his latest deployment so their going to probably take a good share of damage as well.

OCC: Alright, so I am puppet-wanking, and I'm not going to bother arguing that its something most powerful RL nations do (or at least try).

OOC: Actually, you will find that powerful International Incidents nations like Whittier maybe be, but most good role-players use their puppets for alternate RPs and not directly with their nation, which is the problem I'm seeing with your puppet.

I have no problem with Greenskinz and I like them, but the fact remains that it seems, from what I've read, that you are using them as a method to get at TFU without directly involving your main nation... whats more you are supplying them with your own nation. I have a few puppets myself, but they don't interact with each other or use one anothers resources because that is puppet wanking.

You are a good player, I like your Greenskinz RP, but this puppet thing means that when you tell TFU off for wanking, it's mildly hipocritical because your using a puppet nation to get at him and his alliance, thus allowing your main nation to be undamaged.

Whether or not Rob can IC link the two doesn't matter, the fact they have links at all is puppet wanking.

OOC: Until about a month ago the Greenskinz and SKZ were strictly seperated, with the Greenskinz dealing with modern tech, if they were RPed at all.

However, as I wanted to get an alter ego future-tech state going, I figured the best way of getting them into the international forum was for them to do something blatant and stupid (i.e. attack a 20+ nation alliance). The numbers they used in their Waagh! were in no way porportional to their economy or population at the time, even with the "every Ork fights!" idea. I needed to use Skeelzania as the IC reason to boost them up that fast (SKZ is also the reason they acheived space tech, one of our ships having crashed on the Ork homeworld).

Assuming a few Orks survive the war, I'll need them to kick off the Skeelzanian War of Succession, which is another reason I had to get them connected somehow.

How old is Rob anyway? By Skeelzanian time hes at least 150.

OOC: Well lets face it, I RP my leader being the same man even though I've used him for well over a real life year now, the leaders age doesn't really matter.

So President Rob is still the sixteen year old president he's always been I guess.

Anyways, back to the point I've seen that you seem to be wanting to use Greenskinz in ways which I concider wanky, I like the nation but I don't like the way it's going... I can understand the war with the TFU's alliance and that was pretty ok, but hell, from what I've read it looks like you intend to use the puppet to fuck him over for your advantage... i.e fuck over the competition.

I don't like that shit, I also don't like the fact I could read that intention... I don't like OOC information like that, so personally I'm anoyed to have his thing discussed with me and for me to have to come into it. It wasn't long until 150 Destroyer Class Carrier from Techon entered the system, along with another 100 Defender class carriers. A mix of 10 Semi-Nuclear Frigates came in, and 10 Medical Frigates.
The fleet waited at the ready in the dark cold void of space, the flagship, the Headmaster sat towards the head in the middle.
Techs went about their buisness while officers walked to and fro, and the Admiral, Admiral Dor sat in his command seat, waiting.

Ravea had come to aid of TFU at thier reqest, ready to fight.

"Beep?" The young Skeelzanian peered at his monitor, looking for any indication to why his radar suddenly went "beep". SKZO-331 wasn't on any major shipping routes, and with the Tortugans destroyed there shouldn't be anyone out here...
Bloop...beep...beep..beep..beep..beepbeepbeepbeep-
"Bloody hell." The radarman reached to his right, grabbing the phone to the commander's office. "Sir? Kopps in monitoring. I think you might want to see this..."

"You're sure its the Fedrals, Admiral?"

"Positive, my lord. Signatures match their ships, and with the Orks scattered or destroyed...it can't be anyone else, my lord."

Grand Prince Vladimir gave a small smile. "You're sure its not the gnomes? I know how you would so love to put their worlds to the flame. But no, if you wanted me to order their destruction you wouldn't have suggested the Fedrals. How many ships does it look like?"

Grand Admiral Van Cleef remained at attention, showing no response to the Prince's jab. "Hard to tell, my lord. Small ships mostly, with a few capital ships. Anywhere between 200 and 300 I would say." Retreiving a clicker from his pocket, the Admiral summoned up a 3-D map in the center of the Council Chambers. It showed the sectors in question, where the jump-signals had been identified. "Since the ships are too small to conduct a major military offensive, we can assume their not coming for us. Even if it was a full battlefleet, the course is all wrong. Their only target can be the Orks."

At this the Grand Prince frowned. "The Orks? But how...bah, it was probably one of those damnable probes sent out by the Federation. The Orks probably shot one down, most likely. If they sack the Greenskin's worlds, things could be very bad for us..."

It had been Vladimir's idea to use the Orks- a brutal, primitive warrior race pressing on the Skeelzanian frontier- against Rob and his United Federation of Planets. With the ESUS becoming increasingly entangled in CorpSac's damnable ego-driven war, Skeelzania was the only one in position to check UFP advances. But with Arenumberg -damn elves!- actually joining the Federation, Skeelzania could make no overt move and was forced to rely on more subtle means of assault. If inciting a full-blown Ork Waaagh! could be called "subtle".

Unfortunately, dreams of bringing down the UFP with Greenskin might vanished after the battle of Ross 128. The two largest Ork fleets clashed with the main Fedral fleet, and as both sides battered eachother senseless Corneliu -another UFP nation- arrived on the scene and routed the Orks. More than half of the Ork ships were destroyed during the battle, and the remaining fleets scattered. Vladimir didn't even know if their leader, Hurog Halftroll, survived the carnage.

And now the Fedration was actively searching for the Ork worlds to carry on the fight! Skeelzanian aid had been as inconspicous as possibile, but there was SKZ-built manufacturing equipment on those worlds, and Skeelzanian involvment would be exposed for all to see. "Admiral, what ships are on station in that area?"

Van Cleef glanced at the databoard he carried. "A few light squadrons, Dracos and Teutonics mostly. A Legion is docked at SKZO-308; at least she was a few days ago. Other than that no heavy capital ships are present, and it will take several days to ready a Nidhogg squadron."

Damn and blast. "Well, even our corvettes are more than a match for any of their saucer-heads. I'll get the Diplomatic Corps to work, to try and find out what the Spoot Rob thinks hes doing in our backyard. Maybe he'll backdown. Meanwhile, put the border fleets on high alert, and get an appropriate number of battlecruisers warmed up. If it comes to blows I want a squadron on the Fedrals within 48 hours of hostilities beginning."

"Yes, my lord." The Grand Admiral saluted, turned, and marched off into the depths of the Royal Palace. A few hours later an official statement from the Skeelzanian Principality, directed at the Fedral Union, was released.

36 hours ago, a large Fedral fleet was spotted on the Skeelzanian frontier. Vladmir read the Fedral response, not all together surprised. Rob had had a streak of self-rightousness in him when they met all those years ago. Letting the paper fall to his desk, he picked up the direct-line phone to SKZHQ. "This is the Grand Prince. Begin Operation Outrider."

Skeelzanian Frontier
Flashed through hyperspace, the message arrived at the outlying fleet bases within hours. They had already spotted the huge Federal fleet powering towards them, and were ready to roll as soon as the orders were decoded. A flotilla of 3 Draco Kais and 8 Teutonics detached from their respective bases, rendezvousing several light hours to the rear of the Federation force. Keeping a respectful distance, the small fleet began shadowing the Federals, continually scanning the ships.

At SKZO-308, the last supplies were loaded onto the Legion carrier. A new fast-response ship, the Legions were capable of delivering 148 fighters to a hotspot in short order. The carrier would remain within the asteroid-base's vicinity, ready to leap into the fray should one develop.

A couple of probe droids has sent the probable location of the Ork homespace to Juria (the new homeworld of Coreworlds), and the Emperor was conferring with Secretary of Defense Urameshi about the proper...measure now that the Orks' home may have been found.

"Yeah, we should send a fleet to aid our allies, but what should we have them do?" Andrew asked Akira.

"Well, normally, we'd just take the planets and make 'em our...protectorates until they get their governments and economy back together, but from what I hear on the front, these Orks are nasty as Sith."

"And as ugly, I hear, too. Well, I don't like it, but I'm giving the commanders out on the battlefield full descreition to use orbitial bombardment if they need to." Andrew sighed. He doesn't really like to issue such an order, but sometimes it's necessary. "Signal the Firestorm II battlefleet to head to the area."

"Aye, aye, Andrew." The secretary plucked a secure comlink and sent out the required orders.

Sometime later, the Firestorm commanded by Admiral Ledsama, looks out over the large fleet of 20 ISDs, 10 Star Cruisers, and 10 Neb-B Frigates (an addition 15 gunships for antistarfighter work is there). The Firestorm is an Elite-class ISD, with more firepower and shielding than a regular ISD (35%, the techies promised). The fleet assembled, with the accompanying fighter squadrons, around a red giant star.

"Is everything all set?" The two-star Admiral asked.

"Yes sir. We're in formation and ready to jump." The helmsman reported, itching for a fight.

"Very well, on my signal. 5...4...3...2...1...GO!"

Dozens of engines glowed brighter and each ship entered the blue-white of hyperspace, heading towards a rallying point for the fleets.

Once again, we ask that all nations currently with fleets on the Skeelzanian frontier REMOVE themselves. The deployment of an additional 300 ships by the Fedral Union is not enforcing your statements that this invasion fleet, for that is surely what this is, is not aimed at Skeelzania. Withdraw now or suffer the consequences.

Far out in space, the Skeelzanian ships looked back at their counterparts, weapons trained and ready.

Certainly the farmer does not use tigers as beasts of burdens. You cannot chain them up, and use them for yourselves in hoping they will not revolt, because they will, it is inevitable. OOC: So, should I assume that the Waaagh! thread is dead and that I got away with loosing only half my total translation-capable fleet?

Black turned to white, white turned to black, and the universe halted for an instant that took an eternity.

The WSOGS Shadowrunner translated into normspace, appearing some several hundred thousand kilometers from the effective outermost perimeter of the solar system that had recieved so much attention from Federation forces. With fusactors offline, and everything but the most vital systems and passive monitoring equipment either on standby or dead, the kilometer-long vessel was little more than a large asteroid somehow ignored on gravimetric sensors.

On board the shadow-class staship, hands watched to see if anyone had detected them. The chances were slim. The shadow class put out no particle emissions -- its core and engines were heavily shielded, and had not been fired in this system. Everything from the vessel's tripple hull to its kitchen utensils was made of non-magnetic materials. All non-essential systems were offline.

They would watch, and see what would happen, on the far reaches of the system, away from other ships.

OOC: the only real way of detecting a shadow-class ship while it's in stealth mode is by gravimetrics, or by being within a few thousand kilometers of where it translated in. The ship is, for all practical purposes a big chunk of rock on any passive sensors. Active sensors would probably get absorbed by the exterior hull coating, expecially at the distance the Shadowrunner is from any fleets or planets.

You know, a big rock appearing out of nowhere is going to look pretty suspicious, especially when it starts moving around under its own power.

That's the point. My ship doesn't do anything except move through the system at something like 0.04km/sec, which is less than any normal military ship. Its engine ports are actually sealed behind three meters of heavy shielding at the moment to prevent any residual ions or particles from escaping.

I based my post on the assumptions that:
(1) Everyone here has at least one ship capable of detecting gravitational disturbances, or the disturbance caused by objects moving through space.
(2) Everyone has an onboard computer to filter out junk like asteroids and comets flying on the outskirts of the system, far away from the zone iof any potential conflict. Modern radar doesn't report every bird that it catches, although it has that capability. I assume that most nations don't bother tagging and tracking objects whose emissions are lost amidst background cosmic radiation.
(3) For those out there who use visual sensors. You cannot see Pluto from Earth without the aid of some very powerful telescopes. Pluto is several thousand times the size and mass of my ship, and my ship is quite a bit farther out than Pluto. The chances of you spotting it at a distance where this system's sun is lost in the sky are very, very tiny.

If you have a nation that is pnaraoid enough to investigate every large object that is most probably not even a threat, feel free to RP going off to investigate, although by that time I'd have analyzed the ship signatures and decided to power shields and find out what you want.....

In the black hole system, a garbled message manage to come through with the help of a probe droid. It said but one sentence: "Begin the attack."

"Well, that's it." Admiral Ledsama said once the order was given. He keyed in the intership com, reaching out to the Techon forces as well. "All crew to battlestations. We are about to commence operations against the Orks and their ally Skeelzania. We shall win the war and come home with a victory! Men, and women, Prepare for Battle!"

As the crew cheered a bit, he walked over to the helm. "Engage hyperdrives, and aim for Ork territory. We're going in, we will destroy everything Ork, reduce them to the Stone age, and then we're going out. Send the signal to all allies to attack."

"Yes sir. Engaging hyperdrives." the ensign pulled the big lever, the engines hummed deeper, and the fleet disappeared into hyperspace, straight for Greenskinz.

OOC: A IC post my come up later tonight, maybe not. Have a few more things to finish. Anyway, onto the Ork's planets, and a breif introduciton to Skeelzanian space.

The Orks are spread out over several star systems, how many is not exactly though. However, the Ork "capital" is the Gantris System, with the planet of Gantris IV serving as their homeworld. Gantris IV is the 4th planet out of 6, the inner three being small planetoids and the outer 2 being large gas giants. An asteroid belt divides the four inner planets from the outer gas giants (similar to Sol).

Gantris IV itself is a medium-sized world, maybe a little bit bigger than Terra. It is predominantly arid or semiarid, with small polar ice regions. Theres a few large bodies of water, though through pollution and high content of natrual toxins these are undrinkable to humans. Atmosphere is somewhat more toxic than Terra's, about equal to 4 packs of cigarettes a day.

Ork cities tend to be little more than large factory-fortresses. In addition to all the industry required to build the Ork warmachine, numerous barracks are found throughout the city, with the lower levels being given over to slave pens and sewage treatment. The largest city is Grobberdam, the seat of Clan Fleshcleaver.

A note on slaves: Ork society can be broken into three general tiers: warriors, craftsmen, and slaves. The vast bulk of slaves on the planet are Orks whose clans have been defeated, though there are large concentrations of elves, humans, and other races. The estimated number of slaves is 1 billion planet-wide, 60% of which are Orks.

Now, Skeelzania has a little more variation in its planets. At last count theres six inhabited systems, and undoubtably theres a few secret bases out there as well. Most Skeelzanian systems are rather lacking in habital worlds however, confining the bulk of the population to the capital-world of Solomon.

Solomon, located in the spoot system, is the third and outermost planet in the system. It is three times the size of Terra, with a correspondingly high gravity. This, combined with an unusually high background radiation, has made Skeelzanians much larger than Terrans, with an average height of seven feet or thereabouts.

The planet is an arid, radioactive wasteland, with terrain similar to that found in the American southwest. The equator is home to somewhat more ariable land, with large wheat fields and brahmin (a large, two headed cow) ranches sprawling across the planet.

The largest and most important city on Solomon is Skeelzot City, the capital of Skeelzania. With a population of nearly 250 million it is by far the single largest concentration of Skeelzanians in the universe. The city itself is a sprawling metropolis, radiating out from the Royal Palace. Sargo River meanders through the city, passing within a few miles of the Palace.

In the past the land east of the River was considered "Elf country", where Skeelzania's Elven population resided. However, following the Riots of 2194 this ghetto was largely destroyed, the Elves scattered or evicted from the planet entirely.

As stated earlier, Skeelzot City is a metropolis, with many large skyscrapers and office blocks. A sizeable military presence is stationed within the city itself, as the Royal Palace also doubles as a fort.

The other two planets in the Spoot System are of little consequence. Azuk II is a barren and even more desolate world, and the cheif source of Skeelzania's uranium. It too has a sizeable military presence. The innermost planet is Davsling, a small, hot planetoid orbiting the Spoot Star at tremendous speed.

"Very well then. Navigation, prepare for jump." The orders from HQ had been very strict: the UFP was to fire first. It was the captain's job to get them to take that first shot. A short lull, then the flotilla blinked out of existance, shooting through hyperspace after the Federation ships.

The Greenskin sensor network didn't pick up an enemy fleet, per se; they simply picked up a very large thing. However, the exact nature of an object made little difference to Orks.

"Get dos mizzles online! Take ah target on dat fleet or whatever and gets ready to fire!" Ulgor bellowed at the Meks and Smorts in the command bunker, sending them scurrying off into the warrens that was Mount Pygblud. "Looks like dey followed us."

The possibility of Federal reprisals had occured to the Orkish warboss even as they were abandoning the carnage of Ross 128. With the vast bulk of his fleet obliterated, Ulgor saw little choice but to return to the Orkish home systems and dig in. With Hurog Halftroll missing in action ("probably blasted inta space dert"), Ulgor had assumed control of the Ork forces on Gantris IV. Returning to his ancestral home of Mount Pygbuld, he had set about readying the planet.

Ordering a few of the remaining dessies to land, he had them stripped of their guns. These he then installed in massive sheltered batteries, defending the largest of the cities. Although their firing zone was limited, they would be very had to knock out by orbital bombardment. Ulgor also had several thousand nuclear missiles onhand, disperesed throughout the planet and even on some of the system's asteroids. With over 30,000 Ork warriors on the ground, Ulgor knew he would make the Federals pay dearly for this world.

Speaking of which, he better make sure the space defenses were ready. After a few minutes of fiddling with several large transformers, he managed to raise the system kommander: Drogol the Black himself. "Drogol, da hummies are comin' it looks like. Yooz ready wit da fleet?"

The massive Ork grunted. "Yoo brought preshes back wit ya, Ulgor. Da wimpy saucer-'eads scare yooz to bad ta tell yer boyz dat yoo was retreatin'?"

Ulgor instinctively spat at the screen, even though the two orks were thousands of miles apart. "Der were more ships in Roz dan 'airs on yer ass. Wats da status of da fleet?"

"Oooh weze got some dessies, kroozers, zoomboomer or two. Gots em hiddened me has. We plan big surprise fer da feddies." A smort off-screen chattered excitably about something. "Der here. Mez go now, fight dem gud. Yoo just hide in yer hole, big Drogol keep yoo safe." With that the warboss logged off.

Ulgor simmered. He never liked the big Ashlander. He might be a good kaptain and absolutely brutal on the battlefield, but he never knew his place. All dem Blak Orks were the same.

*** *** *** *** ***

Drogol left the Pygstikker to stew, his thoughts turning to his own battle. The Federal fleet was bigger than the one he had fought at Babel, but his own fleet was bigger as well. And now the Orks were fighting on their home turf: among the asteroids and moons of the system, close and dirty just the way Orks liked it. The Federals would have to come through their gunz to get to Gantris IV. "All ships in da azteroid field, fire when ready."

As the Federals powered farther in system, the asteroid field seperating the outer planets from the inner ones exploded as hundreds of gunz opened up on the closest ship. Nuclear missiles screamed outward, launched from hidden asteroid bases, and countless fighter-bomberz warmed up their engines.

Unless that asteroid field is a sphere, it's easier to go 'above'/'below' the eliptic and bypass the damn thing. Of course, Star Trek tactics don't require common sense......and if it -is- a sphere, then CoreWorlds just lost most of his fleet to asteroid collissions [going hyper through an asteroid field isn't smart]......Hell, I think he went through the damn field if he was traveling on the same plane as the field and not coming in from 'above'/'below'......

A whir of hydraulics, shuttle bay doors opened, and a pair of mechanical claws 'lowered' a sleek needle ship. A series of shudders cran through the mechanical arms. Great springs sent the needle hurtling through space, towards the combat area. The Shadowrunner was pushed slightly in the opposite direction, in a wobble that might have been picked up on very sensetive gravimetric scanners.

The needle fired its directional thrusters in short bursts, maneuvering and accelerating, vectoring for below the system eliptic, where it could watch the combat. The vessel was essentially a heavily-shielded engine with passive instruments and a non-pressurized pilot cabin strapped onto it.

OOC: The asteroid field is rather dense, but its circular and on the same plane with the planets. You could go over it, but that requires you passing over a large number of angry Ork ships who are content to sit there and blast you.

Even though its a moot point, how much damage Coreworlds would of taken if he had jumped through the field would depend on his definition of hyperspace. Skeelzanian Hyperspace drives send the ship to another dimension, so they're no longer on this plane and can't crash into a sun or something. However, they don't work inside of large gravity wells. If Coreworld's HSD keep him on this plane, then he would of suffered massive damage if he went straight through the field. If they work similar to mine, then he might of been stopped outside the field by the gravity well of the two gas giants.

As the first ISD moved into the tumbling wall of rocks, four Marauders and Drogol's 'Eavy Kroozer opened fire, pelting the dagger shaped vessel with railgun slugs and missiles. Imperial counterfire was immediate, turbolaser bolts smashing through the field. The background interference made firing for both sides difficult, and soon shots were flying at anything moving.

As the main Imperial fleet moved in, the Orks began withdrawing deeper into the field, luring star destroyers into ambushes and within range of Roks. These Orkish asteroid bases carried numerous short-range batteries, which they trained on any human vessel within hitting distance. A few even had crude engines, though their kaptains held off ramming for now.

Losses: 4 Marauders, 1 Reaver

"Sir, the Knightrider is taking serious damage!" An officer of the Firestorm said. The ISD was the first to enter the Ork sights, and thus the first to be attacked with the Ork weaponry.

"Very well. Tell it to break off attacking and intensify firepower in that sector."

"Yes sir!"

The pockmarked ISD veered away from the battle, air and crew streaming away from hull breaches, and it pounded it's way out of the field so it could hyper home. It's fighters stayed to fight, as they are hyperdrive-capable.
The rest of the fleet continued to charge forward for the fourth planet, shooting at any rock and Ork ship in it's path, whether it's an Ork asteroid trap or not. Eash turbolaser shot shattered even house-sized rocks with ease and the larger asteroids were blasted away by the heavy turbolaser cannons. The fleet inexortiably loomed for the enemy capital several light-minutes away...

With the Imperials simply blasting everything in sight, the Ork fleet began to fall back. Many of the larger kroozers held their ground however, pouring fire into the oncoming destroyers as the Ork dessies regrouped.

On board his own Kroozer, Drogol led a force out of the asteroid field and underneath the Imperials, pulling a hard right turn to bring their gunz to bear on the Star Destroyer's bellies.

"Sir, ventral shields are falling!"

"Direct Yellow Squadron to attack the enemy down there! We can't let them get the reactor!"

E-wings and B-wings zoomed below the ISDs, firing powerful missiles and torpedoes at the enemy kroozers. Their heavy laser cannons also chipped away at the enemy shields or armor, allowing the torps to deal more damage.

Meanwhile, the fleet is almost at the end of the asteroid belt, detailed by the rain of rocks slackening off. Just a couple dozen million miles to go!

IC:
Explosions rippled across the belt as the Federal barrage smashed into the Orks, damaging many ships and destroying several outright. With their cover (quite literally) blown, the Orks found themselves fighting more and more in open space, blazing away madly at any ship in sight.

Drogol could see the battle spinning out of control (again), but he couldn't do much about it. With two Kroozers flanking his own, the Ork pushed his ship to the limit, driving it at full speed into the bottom of the Imperial Star Destroyer. The collision, added on to the damage suffered during the attack run, practically destroyed the kroozer's bow. Ork crews began cutting through the wreckage, launching assaults against the Destroyer wherever they got through.

As the asteroid field vaporized around them, the Ork kaptains were faced with a decision: stand, fight, and die, or retreat to the planet. About half chose the latter, the rest the former. 30 ships, including several kroozers, broke off from the engagement and rocketed back to Gantris IV.

The Knightrider was just seconds away from hyperspace when the Ork ship impacted near the hangar bay.

"All crew! Repel boarders!" The captain ordered.

The space marines set up E-web machine blasters and threw thermal detonators at the Orks as they came in. Obviously, they are unwanted guests, and they need to leave, now.

Hails of blaster fire rained down upon the Orks, ripping them into chunks of meat, as the thermal detonators vaporized them to their component atoms. In return, the guns of the Orks killed men as the horde crawled into the ISD, killing and being killed in turn.

The rest of the fleet, now that the asteroid belt is nearly clear, pursued the enemy forces as they fled for their planet. Accelerating, the ISDs blazed the enemy with green turbolaser fire, attacking each retreating ship. The war schedule is a bit off due to the loss of the Knightrider, but the majority of objectives is still on schedule.

Objectives:
Destroy the majority of the Ork fleet.
Destroy the majority of the Ork Fleet. UFP fleet is to do that.
Bombard the Ork capital. The ISDs are most effective at this, so we will do it.

Explosions rumbled through the Kroozer as Orks continued to pour onto the impaled Star Destroyer. Damage was coming severe forward, with battles raging in and around the impact point. Several Ork Nobz in crude Powarz Armer had gotten across, and were ripping into the Imperial ranks with cutting torches and shotgun blasts. Onboard the Kroozer itself Drogol tried to hold the ship together as best he could. They were horribly exposed, and the jerry-rigged shields were beginning to fail.

As Drogol bellowed at some Meks to get the lights fixed, word came up from the engine room. The fusion drives were starting to flicker, which meant one of two things: power was about to fail completely, or they would have front-row seats to a small supernova. If they kept sustaining damage at the curret rate, the latter was more probable.

Standing on the bridge, sparkes and globules of blood arcing overhead, Drogol ground his teeth in frustration. The Star Destroyer, skewered on the prow of his ship and at his mercy, hung tantilizing infront of him. Behind him the Fusion drives continued on their path to annihilation. Turning abruptly, the Ork Warboss slammed his fist down on the 'Jump' Button.

A loud whop filled the corridors, lights exploded and the Tachyon Drive engaged. A strange and inherently dangerous device, Tachyon Drives worked by harnessing the immense power of the tachyons to create a so-called "Anarchy Bubble", where the laws of nature took a holiday. The Bubble, extending about twenty feet away from the ship, blinked breifly before swallowing the damaged Kroozer. It was replaced with empty space, and an expanding tachyon discharge equal to several megatons.

A cry of despair went up on those ships within seeing-distance of Drogol's retreat. With their leader and most capable kaptain gone, the Orks were convinced they had chance. The remaining formations distinegrated, Kaptains gunning their ships forward in desperate bids to escape.

On Gantris IV, reports began comming in. The appearance of thirty ships in high orbit couldn't signal anything good about the space battle. When word of Drogol's disappearance reached them, these ships rapidly broke orbit and escaped into deep space, apparently at random. From the planet surface, Ulgor cursed them as the tachyon rings spread across the sky, leaving him and his Boyz stranded. With the radar screens beginning to fill up with enemy ships, he returned to his hardened command bunker.

With orbital bombardment imminent, Ulgor had relocated as much infrastructure as he could underground. To make room, he shipped most of the slaves to the upper levels.

As the Star Destroyers closed in on the planet, the first battery of railguns opened fire.

The shockwave of the tachyon device slammed into the Knightrider causing yet more damage. The troops managed to mop up what's left of the Ork boarding party, with heavy casualties on the part of the marines. However, the Impstar was now too damaged to make it to hyperspace on it's own, and had to call for some hyper-tugboats to fly in and take it back to a shipyard for repair.

The bombers and fighters fought through the defense screens, searching for any orbitial defenses to bomb before they would head to the planet.

Orbital installations were nonexistant: Orks prefer to build their ships on the ground then blast them into space. A few small Roks orbited the planet, and the short range gunz of these began blazing away at the approaching fighters.

Across the planet Ork AA gunners waited at their stations, watching the fighters close in. In the upper tiers of Pygblud, Kaptain Razger watched the growing specs on the horizon, all the while chomping on a cigar. He stood fully exposed on the ramparts, taunting the pilots to shoot at him. Aside from him the upper city seemed empty.

As the leading B-Wing lined up an attack run, a big toothy grin broke out across Razger's face. Snatching his Choppa from his belt, he pointed directly at the flight of bombers and roared. Behind him, walls crashed down and gears whined as the city's anti-air defense revealed itself. A huge quad barrel flak cannon, firing shells the size of trashcans, rose out of the floor, covered with grinning Orks. Before the fighters could break off, the side of the mountain exploded as hundreds of gunz let loose.

Lower down, slaves scrambled to reload one of the huge railguns. Stripped from a Marauder, three of these weapons had been dug into the side of the mountain, giving the city some coverage from orbital bombardment. The slaves gave one last heave and the huge cylinderical shell tumbled into the chamber, along with one hapless elf. Not waiting for the loaders to clear, the gun kaptain eagerly pulled the trigger, launching slug and elf up through the atmosphere at thousands of miles per hour.

"AAH! Pull up, pull--!" was all the lead bomber could say before a trash-can sized shell hit his fighter and ripped everything apart. The 'wings scattered as they encountered heavy flak, and many fighters crashed to the ground as firey meteors. The 'wings retreated as it was too hot for bombing runs, and settled for attacking whatever orbitial defenses the Orks have left. Out of the dozens of fighter-bombers that attacked, about an eighth were destroyed or heavily damaged.

The Admiral of the fleet was furious as railgun shells and a hapless elf splatted against his shields, and ordered an orbital bombardment upon the mountain. Heavy turbolasers rained down upon the peak, melting whatever they hit, but it only lasted for a short time. The Admiral is not about to issue a Base Delta Zero* attack, since only the Emperor can give the order.

*BDZ = the order to completely slag the planet with a total bombardment. One ISD can do it in an hour, but with 20, it will take but five or ten minutes. The entire surface would be covered in lava when we're done.

One by one the Roks exploded or broke apart, unable to stand up to the furious bombardment. Meanwhile, as the Imperial fleet completley surronded the planet, more Ork cities opened fire with their own batteries. Mount Grobberdam even had a massive ion cannon, a gift from Skeelzania. Thanks to a complicated system of levers, pulleys, and brute strength, the gun was able to target several Imperial ships over the city.

As the orbital bombardment escaleted, the defenders were forced to retreat deeper into their cities, evacuating the upper tiers completely. As Nobz oversaw the movement and reinstallation of their gunz, a crude signal beamed up from Mount Pygblud. It was a video feed of Warboss Ulgor, Kommandar of Gantris IV.

"Enemies of da Greenskinz, dis is ah warnin'. Weze Orks got over 250 million elfs, hummies, and udder peeples as slaves in our cities. OOC: NOOOO! NOT AN ION CANNON! The same item that caused problems for one of Vader's Impstars...firing upon me...

IC:
The Imperial Star Destroyer Defender was hit by one of the ion blasts and lightning skittered across and through the shields, shorting out electronics whereever they touch. It will take some time before the battlecruiser would be able to restart it's systems, but for now, it hung dead in space.

"Slaves?" Admiral Swenson asked. "There are too many slaves to free. Contact the Council! Inform them on this situation! and cancel the bombardment."

"Yes sir!"

----

The High Council met to discuss this development.

"...and they threatened to kill them if we did not stop the bombardment." The Admiral said, from far away.

"A hard choice. There are 250 million slaves, or so were we told. It is not acceptable to unleash a full bombardment." Master Elendil the elf Jedi said. "On the other hand, these Orks are going to cause many casualties to our troops."

"Yeah. I've seen the reports myself." The Emperor said. "There has to be a way to free them!"

Old Master Tenchi sighed. "I don't think we can free them. Not without gaining unacceptable losses and possibly nothing. There is only once choice in this matter. We either destroy the Greenskinz capital by BDZ, or we keep a garrison over it to make sure they never make it into space again."

"Neither choice is a good one." The defense secretary said. "But I view the garrison option as the most expedient."

"But if they start killing the slaves?" The secretary of state asked.

Master Tenchi hardened his heart. "Then we will do what we must. I see turning the planet into one huge ball of lava as the best choice in this matter, however."

"You're a Jedi." Master Elendil snapped. "How could you say such a thing?"

"Armas. Believe me, I don't like this any more than you do. But you must realize that there is nothing we can do. And besides, I have long believed that it is better to die free than to live a life of hellish slavery. I know that better than anyone, being enslaved by the previous Emperor."

"Grandfather..." Andrew started. He couldn't believe the old man! The champion of the weak, leaving slaves to die! To kill an entire planetary population!

A grim smile appeared on Tenchi's face. "You've never known what it's like to live a life of slavery, Andrew. It was a horrible experience and I have no wish to relive it. I'm sure at least some of the 250 million out there would agree."

It was a split 5-5 decision on the issue, and the Emperor reluctantly agreed to support his grandfather. It is done. The order to destroy the planet was given. There is no turning back from staining the blood of our hands now.

-----

"Admiral." The Emperor said quietly. "Execute Base Delta Zero. Execution code six-three-eight-seven-seven-zero-one-nine."

A grave silence came over the fleet. The most terrible order was given, an order done only once before. Now it would be a second time it was given and the second it was executed.

The Admiral found that his hand was shaking as he brought out his card. "E-execution code six-three-eight-seven-seven-zero-one-nine confirmed."

"May the Force be with you, Admiral." The Emperor switched off his end of the hologram.

It is done. "Bomb that ion cannon. No matter what it takes. Recalibrate all turbolaser batteries for a Base Delta Zero operation for one kilometer. Ten Star Destroyers will remain uncalibrated for defense."

"Y-yes sir." The weapons officer said, sucking in a deep breath to calm himself. The turbolasers will be brought to their maximum firepower for the attack. A one kilometer depth of crust will be turned into a huge sea of molten lava, destroying all possible life on the planet. This will definitely boil off any oceans and possibly even the atmosphere.

But first things first: taking out the ion cannon. Dozens of fighters and bombers fell upon the the mountain containing the ion cannon, so that it will be destroyed before another ISD would be attacked. They dodged the fire and let loose their missiles, torpedoes and bombs before veering off.

OOC: My next post after yours will be the attack itself, Greenskinz. The Greenskinz may be led to believe that the ortillery attack was ended, but that is your perogative.

OOC: In my mind, Skeelzanian Ion cannons have always been closer to those found in HW rather than the EMP weapons in Star Wars but hey, whatever.

IC:
The Boss of Mt. Grobberdam smacked the Mek with the flat-side of his Choppa, sending the Ork sprawling. He had been led to believe the Big Zappah would blow ships to smithereens, not turn them into powered-down hulks. As his rage subsided however, the benefits of disabling an opponents shields became apparent to him. Giving the order to any Ork within shounting distanct, the Boss ordered all railguns to concentrate on the disabled Destroyer.

As the Big Zappah lined up for another shot, the first wave of Imperial bombers swooped in. Although the Orks threw up a tremendous amount of flak, a few bombs got through, scoring direct hits on the ion cannon. The already unstable weapon went completely berserk, its ionnic blast rebounding in on itself and sending shockwaves throughout the entire weapon. As the huge power surge rushed into the gun's reactors, the Meks fled for their lives. A blinding flash engulfed the entire southern slope of Grobberdam, signaling the explosion of the cannon's reactor.

Several hundred miles to the east, Ulgor saw the flash on the horizon, supposing that Grobberdam had just been bombed. Obviously the Imperials hadn't ceased the bombardment, they had simply move it elsewhere. Unfortunately, he couldn't spare any Orks to go down and kill the slaves; both were needed for repairs. As the Orks frantically repaired their AA Gunz, the Warboss paced the lower ramparts, wondering what the enemy's next move would be.

The Star Destroyer was holed by the railguns, and drifted off into space, escape pods running in all directions. They were picked up by shuttles and brought back to the waiting ships. The dead husk, empty of crew, was soon caught by the planet's gravity well, and fell towards the surface, but it would not matter.

"Sir, the ion cannon has been destroyed." An officer said.

"Very well." The Admiral sighed. "Begin the bombardment."

The 8 Star Destroyers, including the flagship, began to bombard. Sheet after sheet of green turbolasers fell down upon the planet. It went further than the previous bombardment, for they struck civilian areas, slave pens, anything of value. The Impstars orbited the planet, not letting up on the bombardment, not stopping, even if the Orks choose to surrender now.

The deed has begun. The death of the planet has begun. The end of all life on Gantris IV has begun. And it is not over yet.

The frigate captain watched impassively as the Greenskin homeworld passed from arid wasteland to flaming ball of molton ore infront of him. He and his fleet were stationed at the very edge of the system, just inside sensor range. “Are you getting all this?”

The Sensor officer nodded. “Got every camera trained on them. Communications being recorded as well.” Satisfied, the captain returned to the light show. By now the planet’s crust was completely gone, along with every ork and slave there. Finally, the bombardment ceased.

“Beam the tapes to HQ. Navigator, prepare to withdraw to the border.”

OOC: Expect another post (and topic) soon…*evil chuckle*

The bombardment ceased and the last turbolasers splashed into the lava. The Imperial Fleet disengaged from the Base Delta Zero, and began to leave the system for home. The Knightrider was towed away and the tugboat crew given hazard pay for their trouble. Another conflict soon brews, but the crew will go home, hopefully with few nightmares of what they were ordered to do.
