OOC note: To TIOR, this is two weeks after your visit to my country.

Tenochitilan:

Vice-Premier Coyotepec was severely injured in a car accident today. A speeding truck slamed into the side of a car where the Vice-Premier was sitting. He is currently unconsious and suffering from several broken bones and other injuries. While Doctors believe he will recover, they are not sure either when he will re-cover and when he will be able to re-assume his position as Vice-Premier.

For the mean time, the Soviet Congress has sworn in Foriegn Affairs Minister, Dr. Darius Wellington as acting Vice-Premier. Premier Quetzalcoatl accepted Dr. Wellington as the replacement Vice-Premier. In addition, a Acting Foriegn Affairs Minister has been named, Dr. Wellington's deputy, Robert Thompson, PhD has been appointed.


"It is unfortinate this situation had to occur. Coyotepec was a good Vice-Premier, husband and father and mostly, a good man. This situation is quite sad for him and I shall pray for him in my intentions. I do hope to work with him again in the future."

Dr. Darius Wellington released this statement:


"It is with great saddness that I take this position. I hope Coyotepec will do well and be able to take his rightful position again. However, in the mean while, I promise to fufill my new duties as ANL Vice-Premier.

We, of the same bloodline, though we have radically different ideaologies, express our sympathy for your ruler.

Commonwealth Chief Consul comrade Chivo has conveyed, to maximum alliterative effect, the encouragement of The Igovian Soviet Commonwealth in comrade Coyotepec's convalescence.

Comrade Graeme Igo, Commonwealth Professional Civil Service, has butted-in to say that this is a reminder that cars and political hierachies are bad and should be avoided where possible.

We thank the Commonwealth for their kind words. In regards to what Comrade Graeme Igo said...we'll take the advice in consideration.

UPDATE:

Coyotepec has regained consiousness and is in stable conditions. However, doctors are saying it will be many months before he is in any condition to assume a power position. Therefore, he formally resigns the position of Vice-Premier to Dr. Darius Wellington.

OOC:
Coyotepec will have a more influential position after he gets out of the hospital.

"After an emergency session, the Soviet Congress has voted to apoint Dr. Darius Wellington as the offical Vice-Premier of the ANL. The vote came in at 85-13, with two abstaining. The all of the Congressmen of the Democratic Communist Party and Soviet Republic Party voted in favor of the bill while 13 members of the Confederate Party voted against it and 2 abstained. We now take you to the live scene from Tenochitilan to view the appointment of Dr. Darius Wellington to Vice-Premier."

On the steps of the Capitol...

Dr. Darius Wellington stands infront of Chief Supreme Court Judge Horatio Starling. Along side with Justice Starling is Chief Soviet Congress Majority Leader Jorge Arroyo, Chief Soviet Congress Minority Leader John Kirkland, Premier Quetzalcoatl, and Dr. Wellington's wife and son.

Horatio Starling picks up a copy of the Communist Charter and puts it on a small table. He then says these words to Dr. Wellington.

"The Vice-Premier of the The Democratic Proletariat Union of Aztec National League, or DPUANL, has resigned fromt he position of Vice-Premier. This vacancy leaves a dangerous power gap, and it must be filled, being third in line for power, you are hereby offered by Premier Quetzalcoatl and myself, Justice Horatio Starling, to be appointed to the position of Vice-Premier. Do you accept or decline?"


Dr. Wellington said confidently "I accept."

Justice Starling then said "Do you understand the added responsibilties of being the second in command of the ANL?"

"Yes."

"Do you understand the inheirent risk of being a high level, public political figure?"

"Yes."

"Do you realize that, by accepting this position, you are becoming a direct servant of the people, and you must balance out what is best for the people and what is best for the nation as a whole?"

"Yes."

"Finally, Doctor Darius Wellington, do you believe you are competent for this position and will perform these duties with your only intentions being to promote the welfare of the Aztec National League and it's people?"

With a breath of calm excitement, Dr. Darius Wellington said "Yes."

Horatio Starling then concluded by saying "You hereby accept the responsibilities of the Vice-Premiership. In accordance with Soviet Congressional Resolution 1221A-B, and with approval of the Premier, you are hereby apointed to the Position of Vice-Premier."

Dr. Wellington and Justice Starling shook hands. He then walked over to Premier Quetzalcoatl and hugged him and shook the hands of the other politicans there.
