Semi-OOC:

As you know from this thread (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=343560), the Zoogiedom presidential elections are coming up. Actually, they're quite soon, I'll announce them sometime in mid-late September.

I have decided to declare incumbent William Ciel to not run in this election (because I sort of liked that character and didn't want him to lose), saying that he had already served his twelve full years.

Here were the standings from last time:

William Ciel - 15
Gerald Fontair - 15
Harold Reisner - 0
Mark Hanelis - 5
Micah Andrews- 12

Nicholas Mikhanovich - 10

Harrison Barnsworth - 10
(Other) - 4

I've also decided to change the names of some of these characters, but they're still in order.

'Other' is no longer going to be an option because this takes up such a small percentage.

The Debate

'I call for a return to our socialist past. It was after the post-revolution interim government that socialism took root, and it lead our country through great times. We were not the most prosperous nation, but our citizens were equal, and happy. Do we want corporations to take firmer hold of our nation, as they have done? Do we want rich CEOs exploiting the helpless working class? No. I say to you, citizens of Zoogiedom, vote for Fontair-McNally, and restore the glory of the old days!'

(Crowd says 'Wooooo!' as police patrol the area like hawks to stop one crazed CEO from carrying out twenty separate death threats against the candidate) Gerald Fontair currently holds ~19% of the popular vote.

'It is truly quite pitiful how evil corporations have destroyed mother nature, and how corporate and governmental brainwashing encourages our citizens to do the same. Poverty, corporations, and even citizens - all are destroying the pristine economy that was Zoogiedom back in the Medieval Age. I call for heavily graduated taxes! - *points to graph that shows zero/negative taxes for the lower/middle classes, then exponentially and sharply rising for those with incomes above $50,000* - to restore some sense of equality. I call for government programs to increase environmental awareness, and for the government to enforce it. I call for banishment of the stupid, mother-nature raping, useless military. Who the hell wants to invade us, anyways? I call for the heavy punishment of those who litter, smoke, or otherwise hurt nature. I call for the banishment of cars and all pollution-causing artifacts. Humans were born a part of nature, and I intend to make it that way!'

(Crowd goes 'Wooooo!' Then one portion says to selves -'WTF?' while another chants 'Reisner-Nader! Reisner-Nader!) Harold Reisner currently holds ~2% of the popular vote.

'We have indeed come a long way since the revolution that restored this great nation. But we have not gone far enough. Tax is still graduated; we are still punishing those that worked harder all their lives to acheive a higher than average income. The military is still overstretched - we are launching a full-scale war on another nation, a war that should not have happened! We could have solved this diplomatically as we have done in the past, and still, we are engaging in other wars at the SAME TIME! What has happened to military downsizing? What has happened to reform and progression? Taxes today are still high - across the board - and the national debt is staggering. The market is not free enough, and consumer confidence is still restricted. We have what it takes to become great, but we are holding ourselves back!'

(Crowd says 'Woooo!' and runs around hyperactively in circles dreaming eagerly about lower taxes; Starbucks has a field day ) Mark Hanelis currently holds ~30% of the popular vote.

'The government has little right to exist, especially in its current bloated state. Huge amounts of government employees, a tremendous military, regulations on drugs and just about everything else that people can handle themselves, [i]taxes - ludicrous! Free trade is also too restricted; tarrifs are still much too high. We don't need war, we don't need bloated alliances, and we don't need anything but a bare-minimum government.

(Crowd says 'Woooo!' and descends into mob chaos celebration, burning cars and such while the candidate smiles and looks on) Micah Andrews currently holds ~15% of the popular vote.

'Where is our patriotism and our nationalism? We used to love our country, but now that has languished into fear. Some talk of downsizing the military, when we need it to protect ourselves and the free world. The once sanctified religion of Zoogiedom has fallen into nothingness, rejected by our very government! The very word nationalism has been destroyed by a psychotic dictator! Has the revolution really changed things? His effects on us our still profound - people fear to mutter to word nationalism and have lost national pride. The central government is weak and can easily be crippled. We have descended truly into mob rule, a lackluster economy, and a languishing military.'

(Crowd says 'Woooo!' and waves their firearms firing into the air) Nicholas Mikhanovich currently holds 10% of the popular vote.

'Today we live in a nation of extremes. There are advocates of huge, corrupt governments...and advocates of no government. Supporters of state-run industry in its entirety, and supporters of complete corporate freedom. Those that would have us demolish our military, and those that would have us build it to our own inevitable collapse. Is there no middle ground? In fact, there is. This can be a nation of one, a nation of unity rather than fierce partisianship. We can have regulated industry that will not destroy our economy, but not destroy our working class, either. We can have a powerful defense force to keep our nation safe, without oversizing the military. We can have a medium-sized government to run the nation without letting it descend into anarchy or develop into dictatorship. We can enjoy and relish the taste of waffles. Vote for me!'

(Crowd goes 'Wooo!' and rushes to IHOP, as the candidate follows eagerly). Harrison Barnsworth currently holds 25% of the popular vote.

Latest Standings -
