This formidable creation by the Chinese is dubbed the Beast from the East. Its 125mm smoothbore is capable of firing DU (depleted uranium) ATGMs (anti-tank guided missiles), HEAT, HE-Frag and APFSDS.
Its JD-3 integrate laser warning/rangefinder/self-defense device is capable of disrupting enemy gunners and optics when dealing with ATGMs and can also be used as a communications device between friendly tanks. The laser is at first set to low power before being powered up to damage the enemy gunner's eyesight, as well as seriously disrupting the guidance of incoming ATGMs. The JD-3 can also be elevated to higher levels when engaging against attack helicopters.

To every thesis there is an antithesis. The Sinoese Type 89 tank destroyer is capable of severely damaging most Western and Soviet MBTs from a distance of 2000m with its 120mm smoothbore. Otherwise it works as like any other MBT. The Sinoese often send their Type 89s in support of their MBTs. HEAT, HE, APFSDS, often the ammo being compatible to Western systems. Self defense measures include the basic 12.7mm AAMG and 8x smoke grenade chargers.
