CNN Live Report

The tiny African nation of Unified Confedracia exploded in Civil War today as members of the reigning opposition party, the Unified Confedracia Free People's party, bombed a government building in protest of the recent re-election of President Sese Mobuto. The associated press released this video of the destruction:

President Mobuto stated that he will seek full retribution on the perpetrators of the viscious attack.

-----------------------

The trucks rolled into the small village in south UC. The men i the backs of the vehicles brandished AK-47s and wore red patches on their arms signifying their allegience to the UCFP. The trucks parked in the village center, and the men unloaded. They proceeded to run through the village's huts, driving all of the villagers to the square, where the soldiers prevented them from leaving.

A large man, wearing military camouflage and a red beret stepped before the gathered villagers. His name was Mobo Ugambaye. He spoke in tribal tongue, telling them that they were from the Free People's movement, and how they were going to overthrow the corrupt government. He then stated that all of the villagers were to swear allegience to the movement or face death.

As he finished speaking, two of the soldiers dragged a young woman forward.
Ugambaye told the people that she was to made an example of, so that they would see what would happen if they did not swear loyalty.

The two soldiers then proceeded to rape the woman, and mutilate her face and hands with machetes. She was decapitatated, and her bleeding body was hung in the center of the village for all to see. Not surprisingly, every villager swore loyalty.

This same scene repeated itself in several villages in UC. The numbers of the UCFPM were growing.

...Welcome to the newly created Unified Confedracia News Service, founded under charter of President Mobuto. In recent news, several small villages were raided, and their citizens drafted into the growing UCFP at gunpoint. President Mobuto has authorized his own national draft to combat the growing threat of revolution. It is believed that the rebels have purchased armaments from outside sources...

-----------

In the streets of Mobuto city, the capital named after the founder of UC, President Sese Mobuto, Commonwealth soldiers herded confused men towards the docks. There, they were given uniforms and AK-47s and loaded onto trucks bound for hastily constructed training camps for the militia.

Meanwhile, the UCFP was moving. In a small village in the west, the soldiers got out of their trucks. Instead of the confused, sheeplike rabble they usually found willing to join their ranks, they instead met with a defiant group. The people refused to come out of their homes, ot join the movement. As a result, the militia was let loose upon the village. Soldiers massacred every man, raped every woman, and enslaved every child. Bodies lay int he streets, mutilated by machetes and full of bullet holes. The village was torched, and the army moved on. General Ugambaye did not tolerate defiance.

Jungles of Southern UC

The Commonwealth army marched down the small dirt road, towards the presumed rebel encampment. About 12,000 of the 50,000 men were regulars. The rest were conscripted militiamen, who had nothing but AK-47s and a week's worth of training. Still, the President had ordered them to engage the much larger, better trained and equipped rebel army, so they were obligated to do so.

A young man, conscript Sega Mogambi, paused to light a hand rolled cigarette by the side of the road. As he flicked the lighter, a blow from the butt of a rifle knocked him tot he ground. A regular stood over him.

"Get back in rank!"

The man scrambled to his feet, and saluted sloppily. The soldier looked after him, shaking his head.

"Damn conscripts. We're going to di-"

He was cut off by a bullet that buried itself in the back of his head. Before the army knew what hit them, a horde of screaming rebels was pouring out of the trees, slaughtering the unsuspecting army. The conscripts panicked and tried to flee, but were cut off, and cut down by the UCFP soldiers. Those who did escape, ran off down the road, fleeing the battle that was over before it began. When the rebels had finished their work, 38,000 soldiers lay dead, and the rest captured, being marched off to the rebel camp in the exact opposite direction of the suspected location.

The Commonwealth army suffered a massive defeat, suffering nearly 76% casualties. The remnants of the army are still coming in, having fled the battlefield after a rebel ambush. General Ugambaye's army still pushes forward, making headway for Mobatu as we speak.

The UCFP armies marched into the north. Every engagement with Commonwealth forces became a resounding victory for General Ugambaye. The captives were forced into the UCFP armies, whose numbers were continuously swelling. A week after the first engagement, they reached Mabuto city.

President Mabuto was in a panick. His armies were a shambles. The enemy was knocking at his gate. He paced back and forth in his office, wringing his hands, and constantly checking the pistol he kept under his desk, while the commonwealth army waited to repel the assault they all knew was coming.

The UCFP attacked the city at dawn, screaming down from the hills in chariots of pickup trucks and vans. The army was met by surprisingly stiff resistance from the Commonwealth forces. By noon, thousands lay dead on both sides, as the battle continued to rage on the outkirts of the city.

Eventually, the UCFP broke through, driving deeper intot he downtown area. The Commonwealth withdrew to surround the Presidential palace. The UCFP was unrelenting in their assault, using confiscated artillery to shell the area. Mig-21s screamed overhead, dropping unguided bombs on the forces loyal to Mabuto.

By dusk, it was over. The UCFP broke through the Commonwealth defenses, storming the palace, bearing red flags. President Mabuto was captured, and dragged into the City Center, where he stood face to face with General Ugambaye. Ugambaye drew a machete, and lopped off Mabuto's head. The corpse was thrown to the army, whereupon it was hung by the feet in the square.

The next day, General Ugambaye declared himself President of the Commonwealth.
