Plans have been made to test Pwnica's new foldspace drives in Sol today. The drives, when activated, shut down all systems except radar and shields aboard the ship and creates a crackling field of electricity in the front of it. The pilot need specify a location to the computer, and the trip through the blue/blackness of Foldspace is nearly instantaneous. However, this technology obviously isn't flawless; besides shutting down the ship's systems temporarily, the ship is immobile after exiting Foldspace, for about 45 seconds. Also, if any object (such as stars or planets) is in the way, between the current location of the ship and the destination, the ship would obviously be destroyed.

The first series of tests will be from Earth to Pluto and back. A small distance, comparatively, but will do for now.

Test schedule:

Non-space test) Weaponless large tank created for this test, to show other nations pictures of the technology in action. Pwnica isn't planning on using Foldspace ground forces, as it's too risky.

The tank charges its Foldspace drive. The electicity and the opening is visible.

The tank has entered Foldspace. Half a second after this shot was taken, the tank had disappeared...

...and half a second later, the tank had appeared in its location, some 40 feet away.

1) Modded Apollo fighter, no weapons, only shields and the FS drive.
2) Three of the aformentioned modded fighters.
3) 3 regular Apollo fighters with the drives.
4) 5 regular Apollos, 2 Ursa bombers

Each test is expected to take 30 minutes, from Earth-Pluto and back, and the pilots are required to log any happenings aboard the craft.

Obviously, much planning will be required for use of this technology in long distances, but if the tests prove satisfactory, all Pwnican space-faring vessels will be installed with this technology.

[OOC] Pictures added.

[OOC further] No, just wanted to announce to NS the new technology, and see where this rolls.

Yes... the UFGZ employs this method of travel for long distances... By "folding" two points on the T/S continuum so that they come into contact, the vessel may pass from one point to the other with relative ease (and a whole heck of a lot of energy).

The fold takes only seconds, and our ships are fully operational before and after the folding.

And I thought I was the only one that did this...

[OOC]: I sort of borrowed the thing from the Dune series. The pics come from a Dune game.

The tests have come back. All of the craft have arrived at their destinations successfully, barring one. The pilot has, apparently, recieved incorrect coordinates and crashed into Jupiter. His family has been reimbursed for this loss.

More tests will follow with larger craft.
