(HIFEX NEWS AGENCY: ELDAIMOVEY ADVANCED RESEARCH LABS [EARL], SCHULTARIA PRIME): 22:42 SCT
In a converted and previously decommissioned military bunker complex located just 2 kilometers from the laboratory city of Eldaimovey, the Nation of Schultaria Prime has dedicated one of the largest automated computational research facilities known in the modern world. Amidst a small fanfare from a select group of government officials, esteemed researchers, and interested citizens, the new computational facility was declared operational at 18:45 Schultarian Central Time.
Douglass Kronsen and Katherine Ormich, co chairs of the prestigious Central Committee of Science and Technological Advancement had this to say about the development of this complex:
-We hope that the establishment of this new computerized laboratory will usher a great future for the Nation of Schultaria Prime. Though our research facilities are adequately funded and well maintained, this new supercomputing center will hopefully deliver untold breakthroughs in the fields of physics, chemistry, and computer science. Without the support of the people of Schultaria Prime, this device could not have been possible; we thank every one of the one billion citizens of this great country for this gift to our future.
Simply known as NKAd (Nakaaga Katxem Adadamma), this 28,000 square meter facility was the result of a government mandate establishing the development of "progressively complex and increasingly powerful computational devices" for pure research applications. Though the specific details of the actual facility, such as its research objectives and individual components, are still classified by the Schultarian National Assembly, the government has issued a rough outline of the supercomputer's capabilities.
PROJECT: NKAd SUPERCOMPUTER
Contract Recipient: University of Schultaria Prime - Edgen / Myrle / Schultaria Prime
LOCATION: Eldaimovey Advanced Research Laboratory Complex: Bunker Complex E-498D (Decommissioned)
Construction Interval: 8 years
Total Cost: $135,000,000,000
Objective: Classified
Components: Classified
Total Processing Capacity: 29 Petaflops / s
