Sevaris
01-09-2004, 12:17
Here is a note of international interest:
Sevaris has decided to adopt a monarchy. In another referendum, the people elected Alec Mannerheim as their first Kaiser. As it turns out, he married Foriegn Minister Yuna Alessandri in a secret ceremony some weeks earlier. So, they have decided to create the house of Mannerheim-Alessandri. The coronation will be held at a future date. Also, in a special byelection, MP Thomas Foch has been elected Premier.

"Ah, the age of kings and colonies. We remember those well. All too well.

But I probally can't complain. The fact that my family has quite famously been involved in politics throughout Hadulan history (tracing back to the overthrow of the Portugese rulership), the public calls us "the royal family of Hadula." Lovable, but I do not seek to emulate our former oppressors.

However, we still hold Mannerheim in very high regard, considering him a superb leader, and while we may have been reserved about the state of Sevaris in the past, we do extend our hand in friendship. We shall possibly discuss it later in a more formal form, but now, I wish you good tidings, and hope God watches over you."
- Dominus Pele Kawau, in a rather rare, friendly tone

We thank the Hadulan government for their friendly words. I assure you, democracy shall remain intact. The people will still control the government. Myself and my family will only be political figureheads- mainly in the interest of national pride/unity.

Well, good fortune to Mr. Mannerheim and his new(-ish) wife in their Monarchy. We have seen that Mr. Mannerheim (His Highness?) is a basically good man, and a good leader for his country, and wish he and his wife (Queen?) well in all they do.

Meh- I'm not terribly formal anyway. This'll be kinda like the Swedish monarchy- where the King actually got a parking ticket.
