Once, long ago, a mighty empire covered this land. It's power was unsurpassed, it's technology the envy of every other nation in the world. In the fullness of their pride, the people of this nation boasted that they had the power to tear the very Earth from it's orbit.

The world responded to their hubris by banding together to destroy their empire.

That was one thousand years ago.

A verdant continent was turned into a wasteland by the weapons used; rivers were changed in their course, mountains leveled, and cities burned.

When all was said and done, the empire's power was destroyed. All that remained were ruins and drifting dust.

But the empire's enemies were perhaps not quite as through as they should have been. The population of the empire was decimated-- not one man out of ten thousand survived the winnowing.

However, what remained was enough to slowly rise again, and remember it's former greatness.

Fast forward to the present. The nation of Axis Nova, though hardly the most powerful on this Earth, has regained much of it's former glory. And it seeks to gain the power of it's forefathers...

--------

Mighty armadas fly through the sky of the Imperial Graveyard, seeking ruins. They fly much lower than ever before, and ignore the occasional weapons fire from below.

In the past, even the airships would not dare to fly this low.

However, as the verdant shine of the spindizzy fields around them shows, things have changed a bit since then.

At dozens of locations across the wastelands, massive dropships land, decanting troops, tanks, and excavation equipment.

Opposition, of course, is met. Guns fire, beams sizzle and hiss, missiles launch, and arrows fire. Men die.

However, it soon becomes apparent to the attackers that the Axis Nova military is commited to securing these sites and will not back down, regardless of the cost. Just how much they are willing to invest in these sites soon becomes apparent, as more and more Admiral A-1s are airdropped to defend the dig sites.

In other areas, more troops, tanks, and other vehicles are airdropped. However, their mission is not defense.

Gunboats fly overhead, ready to provide support. They are of a new design, one that looks about as well suited to flight as is a brick. Weapons protrude in every direction.

Their mission is not defense either.

The tanks and troops crest a ridge, and below them lies Ka'en Duat: the secret city that provides direction to all the human waste that inhabit the Imperial Graveyard.

Before, even Axis Nova's mightiest weapons could not touch this place. It holds a few relics from before the Fall. Such as an optical camoflauge system capable of hiding a city from all sensors, and a nuclear jammer capable of preventing the detonation of all nuclear weapons in it's radius.

However, the most important prize by far is an ancient library storing a great deal of technological knowledge of the former empire.

And Axis Nova now intends to have this knowledge, regardless of the price they must pay for it.

-OOC-
Let me guess... Gundam Seed?

Eh, good luck on the move. Just don't piss off any of the Future Tech heavyweights.
