In a recent expedition to Jupiter, a scientist experimenting with different instruments accidentally hit 5 of them at once while clumsily tripping. The combined effect astounded him and he began research immediately. He found that by combining the effects of the 5 lasers he could change the pattern of the molecules in the air so that they became solid. He now plans to do extensive research and testing to allow the interchanging of solids, liquids, and gasses. Ageaol's government is full-heartedly behind this as it will put an end to war. Peace leader Locad Okax had this to say, "If used properly, this effect could be the end to war. No one will dare send missiles or aircraft at us if we can just turn them into gas. We just need to make sure the wrong people don't get their hands on it." Because of this the Department of Defense has ordered half the military reserves out for training while the full military patrols borders to shoot down any unauthorized objects during these times.

Chairman Ageaol Agea offers this to all nations.
"We will allow only truly peaceful nations to use this product when finished and even then we will had approximately fifty de-activation processes. No nation will be allowed to buy designs, research, or tech and only scientists from the UN and from peaceful nations will be allowed to help with the research."

The estimated date for completion of prototype is in 3 years. The estimated date for completion of the finished product is in 5 years. However, it will probably take longer.

OOC: We'll see how it goes, and just so you know, some people might consider this Godmodding, just a warning.

Anyone with common sense can tell this isn't godmodding. Modern times you freeze water into ice. You melt ice into water. You cool gas into water. All for your convenience. Even nature does that. Post-modern times why not do it in bigger quantities and better ways? Duh.

OOC: I'll give you that much, it's not the biggest stretch, but anyhow, im not a space tech nation, im just modern, so in my nation's eyes in is consider unfeasable. anyhow, just do your thing.

I am not space, just post-modern. And that is not a stretch. It is pure scientific fact. Not my fault I first person to think about it.

Are you talking about a change of state, or manipulating the chemical formulas to form a precipitate?

I am talking about a change of state. A beam is shot at the object. The beam then cools or heats the molecules of the object until a change occurs.

OOC:

This could be feasible, because if you slash several compound atomic bonds, they would dissolve.

If you slashed the bonds connecting water, you'd get two gases... hydrogen and oxygen.

Ok, the lasers would work to heat it up, but from the way you described, the lasers would not be able to cool something down. The only way for that to work, would be if you pressurized the object your doing this to, thus raising its freezing point. Of course it be easier to not use the lasers at all for that, that way you dont have to pressurize the water as much....
