Speech by the Premier of Celtayoshi
"People of our most glourious nation, we, the state, have commited a most foul crime. Our nation's motto is 'to serve and protect,' yet somewhere along the way our leaders, even myself, have forgotten that the state serves the people. We have shamefully restricted civil liberties, and denied freedoms. Fortunately this is a mistake that we shall rectify. Beginning this very week, Celtayoshi will begin to overrule many of the restrictive laws which are preventing our citizens from living a free life. The compulsory identification system will be scrapped. Curfews shall end and the state shall no longer have the right to take ever last detail off you. People can once again chose what they wish the state to know. During election periods people shall have a secret vote and we shall allow more opposition parties than ever before to challange for the parliament seats. Punishments for minor offenses will be made less harsh, and the courts process reformed to allow anyone to plead their case. Travel freedoms will be increased, we have agreed to open our borders with our surrounding nations for free travel, to promote economic growth. Over a period of 12months Celtayoshi aims to increase the civil rights of the people beyond its current level.
However, the state must also protect the people, yes you will have more freedom, but the police will retain powers allowing forceful arrests. Punishments will still be tough enough to deter crinimals, and the CYSIS will have the right to use necessary measures to protect the nation. We will watch people carefully, but not blatently and overbearingly. We hope that none will abuse the system, for we do not look kindly upon such people."
Following this announcement several laws for over-turned on live television, but depite this Celtayoshi will remain one of the toughest nations to commit crimes in. Legistlation was rapidly passed through allowing the Premier to overturn these changes at a moments notice incase it was abused.
