IV-M1
Special Forces Insertion Vehicle
The IV-M1is a variant of the M-11A1, created by Soviet Bloc. This base vehicle is a special forces insertion vehicle, meaning it must complete the following tasks: run silent, less visible, some defense, and protection for the occupants of the vehicle. The IV-M1 is the perfect vehicle for such a task. The IV-M1 is slightly larger than it's prototype, the M-11A1. The IV-M1, however, uses a more powerful engine than the M-11A1... The M-11A1 fields a 220 horsepower (at 3200 RPMs) V8 diesel engine with 5.7 liters of displacement. This engine is slightly smaller than the M-11A2's but for good reason: less noise and because it doesn't really need it as the M-11A1 has no mechanical transmission but rather four separate wheel-hub mounted magnetic motors (SB-SWMA/T14) that use the 272 kWs generated by the engine to power them (after it is relayed through a 220 kW SB-PST/M11 permanent magnet generator). The IV-M1 fields a 300 horsepower (at 4000 RPMs) V12 Engine with 5.8 litres of displacement. The engine is a tad larger than the M-11A1, yet it's been remodeled to perform with just as little nose as its prototype.
Four battery pack systems (located in the rear of the vehicle) store power as it is generated. The vehicle can operate in three modes, electric only, engine only, and hybrid.
Like the M-11A1, using the IV-M1's electric only mode, thermal and acoustic signatures are lowered to nearly 0, increasing its stealth capability. Engine only mode is used when the electric system is unusable, damaged, or for road/cross-country use. Hybrid mode is used when more power is required, allowing for stored energy to be used along with the energy created by the motor for increased performance and acceleration.
Armament for the M-11A1 includes two mounts for machine guns or grenade launchers. The IV-M1, on the other hand, wields four mounts for guns and grenade launchers. The first two armament positions are located on the roll cage above the main occupants. That weapon can be used either by someone in the passenger position or someone in the rear of the vehicle. The third armament point is located directly to the front of the passenger position. This can mount either a machine gun (7.62 or 12.7mm) or a grenade launcher. The fourth mount can deploy from the side of the vehicle and wields a 14.22 mm turret with a grenade launcher. Armor for the IV-M1 is provided by state-of-the-art light steel, which is just as strong as heavy steel, and extensive use of composites including ceramics which allow the main body of the M-11A1 Advanced to deflect small arms rounds. Ceramic and steel plates can be added to provide protection against most heavier machine guns and rocket propelled grenades. This vehicle can carry up to a total of 15 infantrymen (including driver and two gunners who operate the roll-cage mounted weapons). In addition to each gun turret can come the extra feature of an auto-loading mechanism, allowing maximum rounds fired.
The IV-M1 is currently a prototype itself. It is a base model for a new vehicle which is currently being worked on. The IV-M1 is NOT for sale.
