The MT-T has long been in LRR service, alongside the PTS-M, as a multipurpose carrier and transport vehicle.
The MT-T is the world's premier heavy hauler, with a very high cargo capacity, both internally and towed, and excellent mobility. The MT-T Mk. II is an improved version of the original, heavily redesigning it to incorperate modern materials and technology.

The MT-T Mk. II is powered by a hybrid diesel/electric drive system, which supplies massive amounts of torque, emits very low levels of greenhouse gasses, and has excellent fuel efficency. The MT-T can now travel over 1,000 kilometers fully laden.
The use of composite bandtracks reduces track breakages to the point where they are very rare. The rubber-like composite used to make the tracks is very flexible and light, and gives the MT-T excellent mobility over rough and wet terrain. The vehicle itself is also made largely of composites, which improve its load bearing capabilities while lowering vehicle weight and improving robustness. The MT-T can climb 35 degree grades.
Military cargo carriers are usually armed with a PKT 12.7mm machine gun for self defense.
The MT-T Mk. II can carry up to 13 tons of cargo on the rear bed, and tow up to 25 tons. For large loads, the MT-T is the best choice for arctic and snowy areas, and undeveloped countries without good roads. It can also be used as a heavy artillery tractor or a mobile command vehicle. Up to 40 passengers can be comfortably carried in the rear cargo bed. The front cab can comfortably accomodate four people. The rear cargo bed can be fitted with a freezer bed for the transportation of perishable foods in warmer climates, and for the transportation of people or livestock, a heater can be installed in only a few minutes. This is the same for air conditioning.
The front cab is equipped with four very comfortable seats, with heaters for the winter and air conditioning for the summer. The vehicle can be fitted with GPS navigation and other such systems.
One variant of the MT-T carries a large early warning radar dish, and is used by the LRRMFs. The vehicle is also the platform for the SA-22 ABM missile, although in this configuration the bed is lengthened significantly.

The MT-T Mk. II is also used as a heavy-duty fireflighting and crash recovery vehicle. Its tracked nature means that it can access crashes in terrain inaccessable to wheeled vehicles, and it can carry much more water and recovery equipment. With five big nozzles, it can dispense large amounts of foam onto a gas fire very quickly. It is also an excellent vehicle for fighting forest fires, with its excellent mobility and large water capacity.

The MT-T also can mount a heavy-duty crane, capable of lifting 10 tons.

The PTS-M carrier is similar to the MT-T Mk. II in powerplant, track design (composite bandtrack), and the two types have many parts in common. The PTS-M is fully amphibious, able to carry up to ten tons while in the water, or carry 70 troops. The vehicle's only drawback is its light armor, but the PTS-M still gives armies the ability to ferry large amounts of cargo and troops inland and across rivers quickly, without getting them wet. The LRRA uses thousands of PTS-Ms, which outnumber the MT-T, which has a higher cargo capacity but is much heavier and can't climb as steep grades.
