Lunatic Retard Robots

The LRRA has long been looking for a vehicle to fulfill the requirement for a medium transport vehicle to replace the older bedfords in military service.
The Lunkwill & Fook design bureau has designed the MLV-2 (MLV stands for medium logistics vehicle) truck. It is a very capable vehicle and will form the backbone of the infantry divisions' logistical capability. It will fulfill a niche currently unoccupied by any LRRA vehicle.
The MLV-2 is powered by a hybrid diesel/electric drive system, a device that has been in LRR service for the better part of two decades. In addition to emitting very low levels of CO2, which can be reduced to almost no greenhouse gas emissions with the addition of fliters, the hybrid drive supplies a very long range and a very low thermal and acoustic signature.
The vehicle is made of 95% composite materials, which reduces cost, weight, and mechanical failure. The vehicle is also much more robust than it would be if made of metal.
The suspension can support, in 4x6 lorry configuration, up to six tons of cargo, or up to two tons in the standard 4x4 configuration. There is room in the bed, with standard five-person cab, for another four to six people. Up to six tons can be towed by either variant.
The ambulence variant, which will soon replace older van-based vehicles, can carry four casualties in addition to a driver and three attendants. The MLV-2 is a particularly good choice of ambulence because it handles easily in offroad terrain, yet can still manouver through cities. Curbs and sidewalks are no obstacle.
While the MLV-2 is not used as a weapons carrier in LRR (except carrying a Spike-ER), where the Wiesel light tank and larger trucks take over that task, it could probably accomodate a quad mistral or stinger mount, perhaps a mortar or a light ATGM, and tow light field guns. The platform is really too light to mount larger weapons like the Hellfire or AT-16, although the LRRA does operate a variant that carries eight EFOGM missiles. (Not for sale, though.)
The military variant generally comes with a 12.7mm PKT machine gun, though.
The 4x4 configuration coupled with the hybrid drive system gives the vehicle plenty of speed, excellent acceleration, and a lot of torque. With snow chains, the MLV-2 can drive through deep snow (albeit slowly).
The MLV-2 can fit inside the An-72, Buffalo, and Mi-26. Large amounts can be carried inside larger aircraft. The 4x4 cargo variant can be carried underslung by the newer Mi-8 variants, the blackhawk, the CH-47, and the EH-101.
The MLV-2 4x4 and 4x6 are also excellent delivery trucks. Many have already been ordered by civillian operators, and offer a high payload coupled with low fuel costs, high mobility, and ease of maintainance. The five-person cab can be replaced with a three person cab to increase cargo area.

Inside the five-person cab (the back middle seat is a tad uncomfortable, though, and we advise that the buyer add some cushions or pillows to improve comfort if the seat will be used often). The driving position can be shifted if the buyer desires it.

The recon car/APC variant is designed to replace the Panhard VBL and similar 4x4 recon cars. It is fully amphibious, and powered by the same motor as the standard MLV-2. It can carry four troops plus two primary crew, and is generally armed with a 7.62mm or 12.7mm machine gun.
Costs:
4x4 Cargo (military and civillian): 65,000 USD
4x6 Cargo: 80,000 USD
4x4 Ambulence: 60,000 USD
4x4 Tanker: 70,000 USD
4x6 Tanker: 85,000 USD
4x4 Wrecker: 70,000 USD
4x6 Wrecker: 90,000 USD
4x4 Scout Car: 80,000 USD
