LRRMFs decide on new 4x4 truck

The LRRA has long been looking for a vehicle to fulfill the requirement for a medium transport vehicle to replace the older bedfords in military service.

The Lunkwill & Fook design bureau has designed the MLV-2 (MLV stands for medium logistics vehicle) truck. It is a very capable vehicle and will form the backbone of the infantry divisions' logistical capability. It will fulfill a niche currently unoccupied by any LRRA vehicle.

The MLV-2 is powered by a hybrid diesel/electric drive system, a device that has been in LRR service for the better part of two decades. In addition to emitting very low levels of CO2, which can be reduced to almost no greenhouse gas emissions with the addition of fliters, the hybrid drive supplies a very long range and a very low thermal and acoustic signature.

The vehicle is made of 95% composite materials, which reduces cost, weight, and mechanical failure. The vehicle is also much more robust than it would be if made of metal.

The suspension can support, in 4x6 lorry configuration, up to six tons of cargo, or up to two tons in the standard 4x4 configuration. There is room in the bed, with standard five-person cab, for another four to six people. Up to six tons can be towed by either variant.

The ambulence variant, which will soon replace older van-based vehicles, can carry four casualties in addition to a driver and three attendants. The MLV-2 is a particularly good choice of ambulence because it handles easily in offroad terrain, yet can still manouver through cities. Curbs and sidewalks are no obstacle.

While the MLV-2 is not used as a weapons carrier in LRR (except carrying a Spike-ER), where the Wiesel light tank and larger trucks take over that task, it could probably accomodate a quad mistral or stinger mount, perhaps a mortar or a light ATGM, and tow light field guns. The platform is really too light to mount larger weapons like the Hellfire or AT-16, although the LRRA does operate a variant that carries eight EFOGM missiles. (Not for sale, though.)

The military variant generally comes with a 12.7mm PKT machine gun, though.

The 4x4 configuration coupled with the hybrid drive system gives the vehicle plenty of speed, excellent acceleration, and a lot of torque. With snow chains, the MLV-2 can drive through deep snow (albeit slowly).

The MLV-2 can fit inside the An-72, Buffalo, and Mi-26. Large amounts can be carried inside larger aircraft. The 4x4 cargo variant can be carried underslung by the newer Mi-8 variants, the blackhawk, the CH-47, and the EH-101.

The MLV-2 4x4 and 4x6 are also excellent delivery trucks. Many have already been ordered by civillian operators, and offer a high payload coupled with low fuel costs, high mobility, and ease of maintainance. The five-person cab can be replaced with a three person cab to increase cargo area.

Inside the five-person cab (the back middle seat is a tad uncomfortable, though, and we advise that the buyer add some cushions or pillows to improve comfort if the seat will be used often). The driving position can be shifted if the buyer desires it.

The recon car/APC variant is designed to replace the Panhard VBL and similar 4x4 recon cars. It is fully amphibious, and powered by the same motor as the standard MLV-2. It can carry four troops plus two primary crew, and is generally armed with a 7.62mm or 12.7mm machine gun.

The Imperium would like to purchase the production rights to the recon variant of this fine vehicle, it provides a solution to a long-standing need within the Imperial Army and Imperial Marines.

Is 8,000,000 USD a reasonable price?

Yeah, the LRRA doesn't use too many of these, relying on the BRDM-2 and Wiesel 3, both older but arguably more mobile platforms.

However, the recon car here is a lot lighter, and you can carry it with a CH-47 or EH-101.

I won't be selling my combat fighting vehicles anymore (tanks, APCs, missile carriers, etc.), but expect to see quite a few more peaceful/engineering products on the market.

I have a large tracked transporter planned.

More than fair. The Join Strategic Command shall wire the requisite money post haste.

[How strict are you with your modern tech? The reason I ask is that your offer is a little on the low side and I'd be willing to offer discounts and/or free upgrades for the equipment I have on sale. It's ~2020 tech, so if you're very strict with your tech my stuff isn't for you.]

Well, I do tend to be, but sometimes I bend because, for instance, of the Bisons.

I mean, none of my tanks have ETC cannons or CIWS guns or anything like that, because my army relies on long-range ATGMs, mortars, and artillery for home defense.

I do use hybrid drives in almost all my vehicles, though, and hydrogen fuel cells are on order, and the main construction material is composites.

As for production rights, I usually multiply the starting price by 100.

[Well, I know the Russians tested out a tank-mounted CIWS as one point, what it was called and whether it was deployed I can't remember. As for ETCs, I don't treat them any different than regular guns like some people do, and for every benefit there's at least one problem with them. It's about balance and being somewhat realistic, so long as you do well with the former some leeway can be given with the latter.]

The Incorporated States of Tom Joad wishes to purchase one thousand five hundred eamples of the 4x4 Scout variant. Production & delivery to be completed over a two year period, fitting of armaments will not be required but fixtures to enable such fittings will be needed.
We trust that these vehicles will be sufficient for their intended role as fast response law enforcement vehicles.

Well, your civil rights are a tad low...so I'll sell you 500 now and the other 1,000 if you make an effort to improve them.

I'm sort of dissapointed that so many people are interested in the scout car and so few in the cargos, ambulences, wreckers, etc.

The purchase of these vehicles is to replace, not expand, currently existing vehicles used and if the contract cannot be fulfilled in full then we must terminate it at an unfortunately early stage.
We are quite unwilling to conduct unnecessary changes to government policy for a small contractual agreement such as this would have been, future contracts must also be ruled out as we can both see they would be fruitless.

We appologize for overlooking the ambulence variant of this vehicle, the acquisition officer responsible has been repremanded. We would also like to purchase the production rights to the ambulence version and offer $10 Million for those rights.

Your offer is most generous. The necessary production blueprints and properties of the composite materials used will be shipped immediately.
