hey,

i'm new to nationstates. i went to the international incidents page, just to get an idea of how the roleplaying experience would present itself. in truth, it's fantastic. just one problem. in several posts i saw the nations involved descibe their ships (when in space) and weapons and so on. how does one know which weapons are 'ligit' (meaning: are legal, so can be used when invading or attacking other nations). is there a site with this info, or can one just make up his own weapons/ships/tanks and so on, providing it isn't godmoding? i'd like to attack other nations in the future, not for the sole purpose of killing and maming people, but for the artistic and 'lyrical' values (i want to write a book, and this would help a sh*tload. by that i mean it would help a lot in my story telling, character development and the lot). any help would be much obliged.

thanks.

You can make up your own military equipment so long as it isn't godmodding, and many players post storefronts where you can buy stuff. If you make up stuff it might help to write the specs somewhere as people will probably want to know what it is.

What do you mean by "leagal"
ALot of Space Nations build 1 or 2 uber weapons. and an uber ship or 2.
And some of these weapons are powerful enough to rip the most powerful ships in half. Why would those not be ligit? As long as you have a desing to back up the weapon it's ok.
Take my "shotgun phaser" Which can rip a shivan dreadnought in half! :P

I agree with the other posts. As long as you provide some documentation (such as an R&D thread or stats) and don't try to make it the perfect ship with no faults whatsoever, you should be fine.

Perhaps if you develop a unique technology, you should include some explanation of what it's supposed to do. For example, let's pretend for the sake of argument that a transporter beam does not exist in the NS world and you invent one. You would explain what it does (I think it essentially is supposed to make a "molecular copy" of you and transport you to your destination. Then again, I'm no FT scientist) or at least the gist of it so that people aren't caught by surprise.

Also, if you're going to RP as a future tech nation, be advised that some, if not many modern tech countries will ignore any attacks by you.

If your future tech your going to encounted tech that can stop a bullet with no problems.
Try using ST or SW hand weapons for that.

Look around here (http://s6.invisionfree.com/International_Mall/index.php?act=SC&c=3) for inspiration, and to get a sense of what sort of weapons exist in the NS world.

If you want to be grounded to some extent in real physics, I believe Industrial Experiment is working on throwing his nation into space by that method....See what works for you, and what makes sense for the nation/people you are RP-ing as....

@ECF:: It depends on your objective. Some people are here to 'win' and others are here to have fun. I don't calim that I can take on Melkor's sky furnaces with my own skyships....
