The International Dodgeball Tournament
The International Dodgeball Tournament (IDT) will be hosted this year in the Castillanian Capital of Santiago and include nations from across the NationStates World, where nations will play Dodgeball and compete with each other to hold the title of World Dodgeball Champion. The tournament will span over two weeks and include twenty four teams, which will both be placed in five groups of four, where the top two teams of each group will advance to the next round, where teams will compete against each other in a play-off style competition, and the two finalists will play each other in the championship game. The tournament will be hosted at the Copa Drome (http://www.worldstadiums.com/stadium_pictures/europe/greece/athens_velodrome.jpg) in Downtown Santiago, Castillanos.
Once the slots are filled, the teams will be ranked from 1 - 24, which will have major effects on the scores of the tournament. To determine ranks, Castillanos will roll dice, and the teams with the highest rolls will be in the top ranks of the tournament, while teams with the lowest rolls will be at the bottom. Teams on top will have bonous's, such as the top two teams will receive a bye, while the two teams on bottom will be handicaped and
have to play with four players, which will have a major affect on scores. The rules of the game are as followed:
PLAY
A. There will be 6 people playing per team during the game.
B. A match consists 3 game series. Teams change court/sides after each game.
C. The number of balls for a 12 player games six balls — four standard (8.5') and 2 “stingers”™(5')
D. Prior to the match, the referees will conduct a coin toss with both team captains to determine choice of ends.
E. Players then take a position behind their endline. After a signal by the official, teams approach the centerlines to retrieve he balls.
F. Balls must be taken back across the end lines before they can be thrown at an opposing player. If the ball is not taken behind the endline before it is thrown the throw will not count.
G. Players then attempt to eliminate members of the opposing team by tagging them with the ball. If a player is hit with any ball that has not yet touched the floor, that player is “out”.
H. Play continues until one team is eliminated. At that point, the referee calls time and awards the winning team one point for each remaining player.
I. The balls are then reset on the centerline and play resumes when the whistle is blown.
J. When time runs out (at the half and at the end of the match) both teams are awarded points for all remaining players.
K. The first team to win a majority of games wins the match.
RULES OF PLAY
A. Uniforms are considered part of a player's body.
B. Any ball that touches the ceiling or wall is a dead ball.

D. If a defender attempts to catch a live ball, but drops it, the defender is out.
E. The defender may block a live ball with another ball. That ball is still a live ball however, until it hits the floor, wall or ceiling.
F. If a blocking ball is dropped as a result of contact from a live ball, then the player who drops the ball is out.
G. A player may block a live ball, then throw the blocking ball down and catch a live ball.
