My nation, Gheslba, is ruled by a corrupt dictator. While my people see no problem with him, the international community does. The government has decided to ask the leaders of all foreign states to put in their thought on this topic.
My take on it: If your people like you, keep the system. Go with what works. For a short time, I myself was a dictator. However, I heard that the people wanted a say again in policy-making. So, I agreed to their request, and we have democracy again. Just do what the people want vis-a-vis dictatorship.

Think of it this way, if people hate you and you're a dictatorship, Revolution.
If people hate you and you're a democracy, they can use Congress to make a change.
Which one do you like more?
Wow, that was a fast response :D!
