This thread is not closed, however it is restricted. Here follows a discalimer. Please read it if you want to post. Feel free to *TAG* this though.

It is a future tech thread, set in the Eastern Galactic Core, any nation may participate, however, it is primarily for the those who have been invited. Right now it is just the main protogonist nations. Please do not post interaction until I declare it open. If you do participqte unless you are specifically "invited" please keep your military intervention down to 10% of your armed forces. If you are just a n00b warmonger please stay out. If you just want an excuse to test your new shiny army, please RP a good reason to join. Finnally, this will escalate, the first few posts are introductory. Allies of the other p[rotoognist should note, there will be no direct threat to them or me, we have decided on how this RP will end but not why or who. this keeps it interesting but stops it becomming the death of a civilisiation who just wanted to have a fun RP (which does happen far too often on this forum)(and so removes the urge to Godmod or RP badly, I hope)

Thankyou.

Wind whipped past the top of the tower but it was inaudible, the huge skyscraper was sound proofed and highly luxurious, the owner would have it no other way. He was head of Orange state's third largest conglomerate after all. Thye dealt in spacetravel, argiculture and software. All you would hear if you stood in this office would be shouting. Two men argueing across the softly carpet office, one sitting at a large antique desk in a huge revolving leather chair, the other dressed much casually, but still exuding money and class.

"I tell you, in your complacency and ignorance you are running this company into the ground!", said in a more than slightly raised voice.
" I built it up you ignorant brat! I raised you and built it up and I know how to make money!" the red faced man said, the resemblance between father and son was striking was striking, they were both intellegent and stubborn too.
"Then why not build further?" Replied the son calmly,"new markets and areas are still untapped, we could rule this nation with our company if we just expanded into new areas."
The older man laughed back. "It has been the same for ages, you foolish whelp! There are no new markets, we will soon return to slowly trying to make the most out of our reasources and managing our system. Youd have to find a new market or resources because of this space travel thing, and that isnt going to happen!"
The first man looked furious but calmly and coldly replied.
"We dont crawl through the stars any more, have you not seen it? My vessel, a little military class light fighter of all things! Has a jump drive, even it could cross our region in a day or so! You are so ignorant and smug, one day i will suceed and overshadow you! I swear or my name is not Aldoran Relar"
He stormed off and into a lift. On reaching the ground he walked into a parking lot storming past two armed security guards. Before they could even greet the son of their employer he was gone. they looked past him and behind their darkened visors were secretly gald, he was furious, again, at least they didnt have to deal with his father..

Aldoran climbed into the cockpit and fired the engines up, engaged the momentum damper in the cockpit and began accelerating up through the atmosphere. The sheilds buzzed online and he began the smooth ascent into orbit. The little craft looked much like a bird gliding upwards as it disappeared into space. He hit the thrust and set off in the direction that took him furthest from Orange state craft, falling down from the system rather than out past the asteroids or other colony. He shot off and on reaching a safe distance fired the jump drive. He put on some music from the sound system he had installed and suddenly the tiredness caught up with him....

He awoke several hours later. And in confusion punched the drive off button, he slowed down to a speed well below light and stopped for a second. Inf front of him was a blue giant, a good distance away thankfully. And orbiting it were several orbs or rock, as well as a small group of asteroids.

He began scanning. Closest to the sun was a small brown lump of iron, its surface scorhced by the sun, its atmosphere was minimal. It would be cheap to extract iron from it though, as beneath the thin surface was more iron, with the atmoshphere burnt off quickly little had reacted with the planet despite the heat. The iron wouldnt need refining. He smirked, his father was a fool, he had already proven him wrong.

He began scanning the system and was impressed, here were 5 planets and he could see a potential resource on each. The next planet was a desert world, rich in silicon and non metal minerals. Its polar regions could host a rainforest with a little terraforming, and they could be mined. Infact solar plants could be set up and used to power hydrogen cell regenerators that could turn used H2 cells back into ready ones. So much cheap land. nd ina few hours travel. He checked the time unit, four hours and twenty five minutes. Not bad.

Then there was the next planet, a verant jewel, with much in the way of seas, ambient temperature was a full thirty degrees less than the last and a rather pleasant 21C it had a suitablke atmosphere, it even had simple life forms. New viruses to study would be a hazard, but this would make a perfect agricultural centre, and all the new life would harvest more useful genes for the livestock and possibly people. The life had reached a dinosaur level of existance already, and there were many simular forms to the fabled evolution his species had enjoyed... but they werent the same. There was a small useless planet on the edge of the asteroid field. Maybe useless, but perfect for basing a refinery for all the nonferrous metals in the asteroid feild, oranget state acould mine and supply itself and its neighbours for millenia with this lot. And then the gas giant, perfect for gas mining. His ship's basic scanners told him of all this. Imagine what proper ships could find...

He laughed. Turned his ship round and headed back to orange state to alert the company. He would have his father's job one day...

Orange state stakes a claim to this yet un named system. We are sending several teams to survey this properly as well as some troops and a small naval fleet. We are readying more as we speak. The new life forms may present a hazard. Only those with sealed suits are allowed planetside access.

All the time they were blissfully unaware how close to halfway this was from their nearest neighbour...

OOC: YAY! My computer is letting me post!

IC: Many aides scurried around the foot of Cam III's golden throne, worrying about how to break the news to their lord. They relised that they most likly(sp?) be cut down in his rage. One fearless, or so he said, aide calmly walked up to Cam III and adressed his master.
My lord, our scanners have picked up ships entering the Android System. (Just my name for the system, can be changed later.)
Cam III just glared at the man, he then cleared his throat,
Send out a small battle group to stop them, they are most likly after the resorces(sp?) there.
Yes my lord.
Other aides stared at this incident, wondering why he was not killed. They soon stopped when a Griffion guard shot one, the las bolt peircing through his head and grazing another...

----Hours later----
The 10 ships silently neared the planets, hoping to catch the intruding vessals by suprise. Luckly, for the intruders, this fleet was commanded by one of the less violent admirals. The ships were cloaked, and spotted the ships in orbit of one of the bigger planets, scaning it.
Corbec, you see that small ship, a fighter or something?
Aye.
Destroy it. Oh and Cuu, hail them. I want to talk to them.
Aye admiral.
The lead ship opened fire and effortlessly destroyed the ship. The biggest ship, whether it was the flagship or not, was hailed....

At the other end of the sysytem a small group of corvettes, frigates and the heavy destroyer "Red 2" the first of its class (hence the rather uninspired name... many had follwed) sat communicating with the lad. He had already put a bid in for the land and it would be accepted for the company he worked for. However, halfway through confirming this he was suddnely blown into bits The crew looked shocked. The first officer quickly reacted,

(OOC: 1n heavy destroyer, 2 frigates, 3 destroyers, 5 corvettes (each carrying a single heavy fighter) and 5 more light fighters make this small fleet up)

"sir, bringing the alpha scanner on line"
"well, we'll see if this thing works then"
It did and a small group of large cloud of energy became visible.
" Holy Sh*t" excalimed the captain, quite involuntarily. "Thats a big field, they must have a problem with us" " start contacting home, ask for a large battle fleet"
" sir, they are hailing us"
"well do it over a different frequency then"
the officer punched a few buttons and began calling for a fleet.

The captain took the message.
" this is the captain of Red 2 we are presently investigating this system and are under orders to claim it. More ships will be here in a few hours, we will not take the hostile action as a declaration of war,as we are not authorised, but will defend ourselves if threatened further"

The whole fleet powered up the defensive systems almost as one, an crews sat ready to use other weapons at a moment's notice.

The 5 corvettes each readied their single fighter, and the single fleet carrier, readied its ships. If conflict came the fleet could fight a bloody retreat.

Meanwhile in the Orange system, several of the nation's largets ships begna moving. Several objects exceeding a mile long could be seen accelerating out of the system, and many others followed.

The flagship, the orange class battleship "desolation" was acompanied by The armageddon class "Endbringer" the devastation class battleship "Ethos" one super carrier, one grand cruiser, four cruisers, five "hive" class light carriers five light cruisers, 2 heavy destroyers, 8 combat frigates, 10 destroyers and 16 corvettes, accompanied by 200 heavy fighters and 400 light fighters and 100 bombers all sped away for war. Half a dozen transports loaded with other supplies followed behind.

(a sizable fleet but not the largest part of our fleet by any measure)

The captain left a final sentance on his message as he recieved confirmation,

"More ships are leaving our system as we speak. "

1 Halcyon class Warship
10 Hades class Vox Cruisers
20 Shadow Cruisers
60 Isolater destroyers
Each with 25 ThunderHawk fighters and 10 Firefighter bombers. (Except the Isolaters) These ships are presently at the system...

IC:
The 91 ships decloaked and moved closer to the intruding ships.
Admiral, we are getting a response.
Good, play it.
The message came over the sound system in the bridge, it was in an a different accent to the Camians but it was understandable.
So they think they can waltz in and claim this system for themselves! Send them this message.
Aye admiral!

To: Enemy vessals.
From: Admiral Dantes battlefleet.
You have intruded into a system Cam III has claimed, you are in violation of our air space. You presently have one day to remove your ships. Faliure to comply will result in complet destruction of your ships.

After much deliberation and consultation with the lord Emperor Magius an envoy had been sent, he knew exactly what to do.

He stepped up to the console and spoke. The faces of the Orange state personnel are not shown in transmissions as they do not wish to betray emotions.

"We wish to at least claim half this system as you seem not to be using it. It lies on our Borders also and we could use its reasources. We would grant trade concessions to you if you accepted."

OOC: stats on the ships will be posted if they are used.

OOC: How long is this ment to be? (A long RP or a short RP?)

The message was played directly into the admirals office. After listening to it once or twice, he walked out and asked the comms officer, Patch me through to Cam III, immediatly!
Aye sir!
The comms officer pushed a few buttons and an image of Cam III appered on the screen. The image then spoke to them, What do you want!?
We have intercepted the intruding fleet and they say the also border this system. They want at least half of the system.
What?!
Yes my lord. They also say that they will trade with us if we agree.
I suppose WE will get the other half?
I think so.
I don't take "I think so" as an answer! Find out, now!
The image apprudly dissapered. Admiral Rawne sighed and opened a channal to the Orange State ships,

To: Orange State ships
From: Cam III ships.
If you get half, will we be able to claim the other half in the name of our holy lord, Cam III?

OOC: (a longish one)

The diplomat smiled, though that wouldnt be visible to the other race.

"yes, that would be fair, though we would like to trade the reasources we dont get.

Paausing to breath he realsied that didnt need elabouration. And headed on through his objectives.

"We would like to claim the planet among the asteroid, half the desert world and the world with life on."

He stopped, that should make it clear.

"Population?"

"Sparse, Warsmith. There cannot be more than a hundred thousand over the entire planet"

"Excellent. You say you have the artifact's exact location?"

"We do, Warsmith"

"Very well. You may begin descent, Captain Tutaen"

"At once, Warsmith"
-
The baroque ornamentation on the vessel's surface shone under the rays of the young sun, reflecting gold and brass-tinged light from the entire starboard side. It crept through the system, finally lapsing into orbit around a chosen planet. Scans had shown an oxygen-rich atmosphere and heavy vegetation, but only on one half of the globe. It appeared to be spinning perpendicular to the system's star, leaving the other hemisphere untouched by warmth and shrouded in darkness.

OOC: Hi. Urm...I play as a system controlled by Chaos Space Marines of the Iron Warriors Legion. I dunno if you know anything about Warhammer 40,000, but basically, they're genetically modified humans. They're about 3 meters tall, with arms and legs like tree trunks and various improved internal organs. They're encased in powered armour suits, wielding Boltguns - huge (.75 cal) nasty guns firing DU rounds). Thankfully (For everyone else) There's relatively few of them, so numbers are made up with large amounts of poorly trained and armed Chaos Cultists, mutants, and lunatics. The Cultists are issued with semi-automatic rifles of 8.45mm calibre with a 12-round clip, also using various pistols and other things they've stolen. Heavy infantry weapons include;

Heavy Bolter - Large, automatic Boltgun, shoulder-mount.
Plasma Weaponry - Comes in pistol, rifle and vehicle-mount cannon forms, prone to leakage.
Melta Weaponry - Rifle and shoulder-mount variants, sort of like microwave guns. They cook things. People.
Lascannon - High-energy shoulder-mount anti-tank cannon, shoulder-mount.
Autocannon - Basically a small artillery piece, shoulder-mount.
Missile Launcher - Krak missiles for anti-tank, frag for anti-personnel, shoulder-mount.

Cultists use all shoulder-mountable things as a two-man team, Chaos Marines simply carry them on their shoulders.
Chaos Marines also use various electrically charged close combat weapons, and chain-weapons (Chainsword/axe) as they usually would survive a charge.

Within the ship (One ship, you'll note) is a multitude of thingies. On paper, they are one company of Iron Warriors, but this includes 1 Captain, 80 Iron Warriors, 800 Cultists, 2 Land Raiders, 1 Dreadnought, 10 Terminators, 10 Cult Chaos Marines and 5 Predators per Company.
Worry not about numbers, for I've recently revised my forces and have a 5% army, rounded down a bit.

The ship is a Devastation class cruiser, with two pairs of weapons batteries (Random projectile/laser/plasma weapons) on it's prow and numerous lance clusters (Groups of high-power lasers) on either side. It has three anti-torpedo turrets and a shield system.

I've a fair amount of experience with modern rp's, but little with space ones. However, I am not some couldn't-find-his-arse-with-both-hands-and-a-map n00b, and catch on quickly. I've no doubt that I'll enjoy this venture, regardless of whether I win or lose

OOC: so basically you want to add a third party?

We just want the planets.

Yes, I used to play WH40K (mainly death guard as it happens) and CAMIII has or does too. (look at his unit names... imperial guard)

My army only steals large chunks from the idea of marines there, but your going to have to keep the demon off this thread please.

Anyway yeah, we werent even sure if this was going to go off as it wasnt panning out that way, but you may add the conflict we want (and im not after another nation, just a war RP so go ahead, if CAM III agrees)

Argh! ive done it again! that was supposed to be me!

NQP is modern tech.

Anyway one more thing.

5% is actually pretty high (especially as chaos marines probably cost a hell of a lot to make, much more than standard troops, my troops cost almsot as much as some of my support vehicles and they are enhanced a little... to say the least)

To equip your army well you want to have about 0.5% recruitment not 5%; maximum, as larger armies tend to be barely trained and carrying poor weapons. (and as a marine based army you are going to have to qualify as well equipped)

OOC: I have two and a half thousand chaos marines, and close to ten million (Untrained) cultists. They've just been instructed in basic orders and given a gun. That's all. Of course that's my entire army, and I won't be able to use even half of that in this due to sportingness.

10000 Infantry platoons (55 marines in one platoon)
50000 Conscripts
63000 Rhino APC
5000 M808B Scropion MBT
2500 Griffons
20000 Marines w/heavy weapons
5000 Logistics
Total: 725,500
Total in 10 regiments: 7,2550,000

Tanks
7000 M808B Scropion MBT
3000 Hellhounds
1500 Cerberus
Total: 11500

Reserve Force:
347000 Marines
400 Griffons
300 Hellhounds
300 M808B Scropion MBT
Total: 350,000

Total: 7,266,500

IC: The admiral stood on the bridge, gazing out over the planets. He had just recieved the message. He was pondering what to do, on one hand Cam III wanted the whole system and on the other Cam III wanted allys.
What to do? He said to himself, he then thurned and walked out of the bridge cloak billowing behind him. He turned on the moniter, on which a giant picture of Cam III's head appered. He could see the wires and augumatic speech parts, and the pale flesh. He bowed to the image and then, thather hesintly, spoke to it, I have just recieved word from the...enemy vessals...they will allow us to have half of the system.
What planets do they want? The warmaster seemed to be in a good mood today.
They want (I forgot the planets, imagine the planet names here.)
Go and block there way to those planets with your ships, split your force.
But, I thoug...
You thought wrong! Do it now!
Yes, my lord.
He walked back to the bridge and transmitted a message to certin ships, soon after all the ships dispersed to there target planets...

OOC: You now need to intiate the skermish(sp?) and beat one of my blockades. Then on the desert planet, we can have the ground battle?
Orange state
31-08-2004, 11:08
Sensing a weakness in the line at the desert planet the whole fleet headed there, if they could get some ground they could put a few defensive cannon on the desert world, the sun would allow them to recharge their huge batteries by day and night would be short enough for the batteries to survive. It was the perfect beachhead.

Picking up speed the whole fleet headed for the planet and armed their weapons.

THe diplomat made the transmission

" so be it, our army is ready for war"

and stepped back,

the fleet flew fowards, slowing to combat speed and firing

The flagship, the orange class battleship "desolation", the devastation class battleship , one grand cruiser, four cruisers, five "hive" class light carriers five light cruisers, 2 heavy destroyers, 8 combat frigates, 10 destroyers all unleashing a storm of torpedos intothe centre of the CAM III Fleet, totalling one hundred and fifty torpedos in one huge wave.

OOC:Torpedos carry either a 2.5ton plasma warhead (designed for sheilds) the first 75 torpedos are these, or high powered armour peircing munitions, the rest are these. The desolation carries nuclear warheads aboard their torpedos, which are only used at long range, there are 12 of them in this salvo, designed to break up and damage the whole fleet.

the carriers began launching their fighter screens whle all the escorts stayed close to the capital ships

THe fleet began firing their cannon as soon as they came into range.

OOC: CAMIII would probably respond a second or two after this, I await camIII's defensive reaction . ANy attacks made by CAM III such as lasers wwould happen pretty much simulteanoeusly with mine but the defeses would hapopen before my next attack.

[OOC: The ships defending the desert planet:
1 Strom Battle Ship
10 Shadow Cruisers
40 Isolater destroyers]

IC: The ships had only just arrived when they were bombarded. The Shadow Cruisers had sufered the most, only 2 remained. The rest were blown back to Prospero. The Destroyers, being small had sufered minimal losses, the lost 8 of their numbers. The Invincible sufered a few scorches here and there, Comms were down and a few major injuries when the torprdoes finaly failed the shields. The ships then scattered the Isolaters to the port, the Cruisers straight ahead and the Invincable to the stern. The first reaction of the commanders of the ships was to power shields and counter attack. The sheilds were powers fine, apart from one ship, a Cruiser, which the sheilds failed again. The ships was destroyed by lasers fire and torpedoes. The Cruisers opened fire with their forward lance battaries, and forward torpedos. These torpedoes were formed of 10 IPD (Imploding plasma devices) and 20 boarding torpedoes. The latter were launched the biggest ships while the rest homed in on random ships.

[OOC2: The IPD can easily rip a ships apart, the implosion buckles or even destroys the hull, then the plasme finishes it off. The boarding torpedoes have 10 men on each, so 200 men are heading your way...]

IC:The admiral, Larkin, voxed orders to the whole fleet. These orders were, Reform and attack.
The ships then turned around and reformed into a solid fighting force. The Destroyers fired their lasers at the Orange State vesslas and the Battle ships opened fire with their forward nova cannons and lance battaries...

[OOC3: I think some of your ships will be destroyed, but post your counter and I will destroy my remaning ships.]

EDIT: this is OS, I logged in as OS but it decided to change me to NQP because I logged into that in a different window. Its not common but i must have done an action too close to another... anyway. pooh!

OOC: your fleet played right into my hands, whethr you intended that or not, the casualties reflect my plan to scatter your fleet suceeding.

IC:The fleet remained tight and began firing defensive weapons filling the intervening space with beams of energy and misiles.

Boarding torpedos zoomed towars the largets ships. THe fighters scrambled from their positions and began shooting down the ordnance. However due to thspee dmany bording torpedos got through and began their journey to the hulls of the battleships. Small batteries of turrets and defensive misile launchers (anti fighter and anti ordnance sized) began firing much more effectively, as it was their role to destroy these. The desolation taking 1 hit due to its fighter screen being larger (it is a carrier in its own right as well as a fairly powerful battleship), and the other battleships taking two each.

(in my MT country I learnt how to defend naval ships and have applied this to my ships, they are litterally bristling with small weapons)

The battleships however (like all my wonderul ships) carry a compliment of marines (about 250 men each with 500 on the orange class as it also has boarding vessels) however these were not concentrated and baording crews beggan running amok on the ships. The Desolation losing one of its triple G class lasers to a explosive charge, while 12 crew were lost. A platoon of marines arriving shortly.

Marines wear tower armour, and are all hardened veterans, due to stage 2 geneboosting (boosted twice) they stand close to eight feet tall.

The marines ran in firing their plasma weapons into anythinmg that moved in the smoke. Cries could be heard as men from both sides fell between bolts of plasma, the survivng marines advancing fowards until enemy invaders were found. the marines then began slicing through flesh and armour with their powered saw blades. Boold and burns repainting them red and black they fearl;essly soldfiered on. Soon not one invader was left. The marines had suffered only tow casualities, but there wwre three dozen crew scattered around the ships there was much damage. The engineers arrived at that moment ready to begin work.

The other, the armageddon class lost two triple lasers and the Overlord class flagship had one of its sheild banks taken offline by the attack.

the IPDS were also defended against, but two struck home, destroying an unlucky corvette and itsa nearby escort, as well as eating a large portion of a nearby frigates sheild charge up. "5 light fighters and 20 heavy fighters were also crippled or destroyed by the explosion

The other ship hit was a cruiser, which somehow survived (call it size armour and sheilding) but was crippled. It began flying back with 5 escorts, disengaging and after accelerating towards Orange, powering down most systems to avoid being detectable. Debris however hit another corvette crippling it and forcing a simular retreat.

The rest of the fleet remained tight and began firing their weapons back.

Each corvette mounts a G class laser, which could turn a 3.5 metre cubic block of steel into rubble (obviously a lot less dangerous until your sheilds have been worn down though, but thats what those guns are for)), other ships also mount these. O class lasers are the biggest gun in my arsenal bar the single OG laser on my Armageddon class. They will easily demoloish a block of about 5 metres of cubic steel. There are about 80 G class lasers and about 40 O class. the OG fires slowly and mnages 2 shots at your battleship (though maybe one would hit) its designed to destroy stations and cities, so its not about to kill your battleship ina single hit, but in its slightly weakened state, might do a little damage beyond the sheilds (the Armageddon class mounts this and other than this only has slightly less weaonry than a cruiser)

The fighters split half leaving the light fighters tio attack enemy fighters (they are fast but not so well armed) using manoverability, while heavy fighters are slower but mount better weapons and a turret in the rear. They work with the light fighters, with the light craft trying to herd the enemy into the front of the enemy fighters. the corvettes aimed their (about 12 of them) their weapns at the fighters, with the heavy fighter they carried covering the blind spot while the corvette can destroy most fighters in one or two hits with their G class lasers.

The bombers followed slightly behind waiting for a gap in the enemy fighter screen and bursting through to attack the larger ships when they can.

(if you want you can disnegage, and then claim minimal causalties, infact its asafe to say many of your "destroyed" vessels were merely crippled and used the powering down tactic to escape and flee for repairs so you can use them in a different war)

"you are either brave or follish opponents arent you?" Was the single transmiison the fleet admiral left.

[OOC: Man, I wish this was a normal battle. I could bring my whole fleet and army to crush you. Anyhow:]

IC: After the absmal performance by the bording parties, all 200 slaughtered, the ships were then fired upon by the O and G lasers. The lasers stripped the shields of the Battle ship, destroyed the remaining Cruisers and 10 of the Destroyers. The dogfight seemed to be going well, that is, untill the enemy launched more fighters. Cam III fighters had destroyed, or at least sent the first wave packing. This second wave was much larger and effectivly destroyed the fighters. Honsou, the newest admiral of the mini-fleet spoke to the remaing ships. (23 Destroyers and 1 Battleship) Pull back! Pull back!
Why sir?
We'll get slaughtered if we still stay here!
Alright, shall I call in more support?
No, call in transports and escorts. If we can't destroy his fleet, we'll take this planet by force!
Aye admiral. After the conversation between rear admiral and admiral of the fleet, the ships disengaged and fled the site...

The Harvester descended to the planet's surface, sending clouds whirling before it. Steam hissed from pistons as it deployed it's landing gear, finally coming to rest on the stony ground beneath. At it's fore, the a ramp was lowered, and eleven steel-grey giants marched from the dark belly of the ship.

"Secure the area, Sergeant Vorbis" said Captain Tutaen, his voice distorted by his voxcaster.

"At once, sir" replied the second.

They fanned out, taking note of any shapes on the horizon. After a few minutes they returned to the ship, and the Sergeant gave his report.

"Our objective lies beyond those mountains, sir" he said, pointing to a few clouded peaks in the distance, "And one of my squad saw smoke from the northeast"

"We shall investigate. Have the Rhinos prepared for our return"

"Aye, sir"
-
I had never seen such men. They stood a metre higher than the tallest in the village. They had proclaimed themselves warriors of the Four, and that any who travelled with them and proved themselves worthy would also become as them, and travel the stars. Thirty men ran to them without hesitating, I among them, and another twenty joined us as we left. We were provided with weapons, spears which shot forth pieces of steel, and we felt proud. We saddled our horses and rode with them to their star ship. From within it came beasts of iron whose deep cries filled our ears, and issued foul black breath which burned the nose yet never tired. We rode for the mountains to find a great treasure for the glory of the gods...

The war waged in the skies left Orange state as of yet oblivious to the intruders on the nearby planet. (OOC:infact we will probably finsih our war, weaken our garrisons and then fight you with our forces. then you can get into it)

The tranports headed for the planet and began dropping forces.

"Objective sir?"
"well engineer, set up some anti shipping cannon, sowe can keep them away"
The engineer grimaced and began ordering his workers around, guiding them by doing sme work occasionally. Accross the peninsula, guns began work, like fleas on the tip of the continent. the land was narrow there and defendable.

The orders had been recieved and the enemy had began landing on the other side of the planet, they had a few days yet, but to finish the guns would take weeks. The engineers knew why they were on a small penninsula, so did the construction workers. It was easier to defedn againt the tens apon tends of thousands of men the opposition had. And the orange army? 20000 warriors, 1000 elite tower warriors. 500 combat tanks and 2000 mixed artillery, a few hundred air support units to keep the skies clear. These were spread across the cross section of the penninsula, the terrain was difficulat and would be hard to pass quickly, the troops were in good postions.

In the centre of the gap was a thinner part of the line, about half a mile wide, a small natural passage allowed fast travel there and troops were concentrated on either side of it, to trap enemy foolish enough to take it as an easy option.

OOC: Cam like I said, your about twice my size and just as rich youd win, but trust me you arent twice as dangerous though. I wouldnt have declared war on you if this was war of hate rather than a proper pre arranged RP, im not that stupid.

[OOC: My troops are going to come straight at you from drop pods.]

IC: The transports glided through space, nearly invisable to enemy radars. Or so they thought. The transports numbered at least 100, carrying The 1st Prosperens and The 2nd Prosperens. But only 100,000 men, 250 Griffons and 100 heavy weapon teams would be used. The transports had nearly reached their destination, when enemy fighters spotted them and came after them. There was little point in the attack as the sheilds were superior to the enemys primative weapons. Only 5 transports were destroyed.

Drop the weapon Dreads first then the troop ones.
Yes sir.

The Weapon Dreadclaw Drop pods (about 50 were dropped) were dropped from about 5-6 miles above the enemys position. The pods came under fire from air support, but only a few pods were lost. The others smacked into the ground, and opened. The lascannons opened fire on defences and fighters. The Heavy bolters mowed down troops, well tried. (I'll let you post losses.)

Followed by the first wave, troops were dropped right on top of the enemy. 150 Dreads were dropped. They encountered no, or little fire, as the enemy guns were engaging the guns already there. Trooper Muril felt the reboosters fire as they touched down. His taste for the enemys blood was increasing by the second, any longer and he would have killed his own squad members. The pod doors opened and the 100,000 men ran out, straight into the enemy's fire. Meny were killed by enemy fire. They rest launched them selves head first into the enemy with bolt pistols and chainswords. They hacked through many, but also many died.

The "Executioner" was watching the chaos on the planet below. Supreame Colnel-Commisener of the Cam III army Dante, was there.
You, He pointed to an aide, Send down the tanks!
Aye...my lord.[/i] He scampered away...

[OOC2: Post losses and return attacks. Its close combat only. I'll post the third wave later. :)]

OOC: dont insult my fighters, just assume that you got in quickly and got out quickly, my weapons are crude but effective! Try this instead. (we are a little less manoeverable tahn purpose built speed transports to say the least though)

IC: transports had begun raining through the sky and the fleet was off guard. On sensing this the admiral made a decision.

"We cant let them go in un molested", he commanded to the Flag captain,
"we have one choice, our fleet will not catch them, deploy the fighters"
"unsupported?"
"yes deply them all and send them to intercept, we must do what we can to aid the troops on the ground, im not sure if they can win without it."

It was done

The enemy had sent a few fighters to protect the screen too, they matched the light fighters for speed and manoevrability but were better armed, and crewed by more battle hardened pilots (this is my first major war). The Orange wings dived in like gulls for fish shooting at the transports one by one, but between keeping alive and damaging the sheilds they only felled a miserable few enemy. Hving lost 20 fighters for a couple of enemy the attack was forced back.

OOC: now thats more like it. As I have a big research budget. Oh and It will BB CC, but you have to get there, which is where most of your men will fall.

The troops on the ground were ready for the attack. They stood on the bleached ground as afternoon slwoly gave rise to cool evening, and they came. The Orange troops stood waiting for the targets to come in range, tracking the front of the tide, ammo was precious and they had to make each round count. the enemy closed a little further and soon their pistols would be in range, with this in mind, the firing began. the fisrt few bursts strinking home and felling quickly, but there were many, and the enemy came on faster than they were killed, even as they stumbled over bodies, the troops reloaded.

Smoke and dark enshrouded the battle with only fgunfire lighting up the sky. Ornage troops killing man after man, but still the tide was advancing, and now bullets came back. innefective and often hitting the cover but soon the rate increased. A few warriors taking hits, mostly just knocking them down and chipping armour, but the weight of fire was heavier than the weight of the burning sun during the day and a few men began to fall. the Orange fire weakening. The first 20 minutes had felt like a year. (im Rping you using a tactic which gives me trouble CAM. I hope you dont mind, its somethignwhich helps you out)

At points along the lines with some respite the enmey began setting up heavy weapons, huge explosions forcing the Orange state warriors into cover, and destroying a few of the light tanks with lucky hits. The Enemy were no more than 50 metres away now and something had to be done. An end could be seen in the tide, but it was still a long way.

The order came through the comms, half the soldeirs drew monomolecular blades and ran while the other half covered. They met so close that the covering fire solciers could see the fear on the enemoes faces, they were scared much like the elite Orange state marines, but instead of sucumbing or ignoring it, they used it to fuel themselves. For a few moments there was mutual respect, no hatred, a job that had to be done. And with that they lines merged. Cries and scrweams rang out and Ornage troops sliced through flesh and every scremas rang through squad comms as warriors were overwhelemd and their armour slowly cut through by chainsaws, then the screams as the flesh followed. the tower warriors returning with their huge circular saws and standing above in even orange state soldiers in size and experience, but even they died in their masses.

But the armour and size of the orange troops was an advantage and the heavy weapons had fallen silent. the Assault fell back to the main line who pumped round after round intoi the horde. As the enmy drew close they too drew weapons and charged to meet them....

three hours later

The remaining troops stood on piles of bodies, finishing the wounded with theri blades, out of mercy and readying prisoners for transport to the navy. there werent many, just a few hundred that had realised themselves outnumbered

Of the 12000 elite cyborgs that had stood against the endless horde. Less than half remained, they were tired and their amrour was chipped and burnt.
the tanks had suffered heavily against the explosibves of the enemy.

As the enemy tanks approached they readied their anti tank (plasma) misiles and the religeous members of the army made a silent prayer.

They rearmed and readied for the next wave.

[OOC: What?! All my men are dead? All 100,000? Your joking right? Well, whatever. I shall respond, but I expected better... Oh, and my weaponery is lasguns.(Imperial Guard?)]

IC: At the end of the day, the first wave had failed, misrabley. The few remaing conscripts had fled to the mountains. The drops were being readied with tanks. They would bring death to the enemy.
Damn it! There ALL dead?!
Yes my lord.
Well, lukily for you they were conscripts. I want you to go and enslave 100,000 more!
Yes my lord.
Tactcian Bioata ran from the room, fearing for his life. Cam IV watched the scene from the protection of his ship. He had the rest of the two regiments ready for landing. Another 5 heading their way...

----Hours later----
The drops had procceded to drop, supported by bombers and fighters. This time, the bombers would go in with the fighters and bomb large enemy formations, weapon stores and ordance peices. The bombers had been disgorged from the belly of the ship, heading for OS lines... (Post damage and response, assume they get to your lines.)

The drops then fell, screaming to the planet. They carried, between them, 5000 Predators(Normal battle tanks.), 2500 Griffons(Morter tanks), 3000 Hellhounds(Flamer tanks) and 10 infantry platoons. The first drops reached the planet within minutes landing on its unholy surface. The tanks were a safe distance from the enemy, hopefully out of scanner range. They waited for the rest of the tanks, only taking a few more minutes. The 10,500 tanks grided their way towards the enemy. Some got stuck in the sand of the planet, participating no more in this war. Finaly the tanks got to there destination and the Griffions opened fire, launching there shells. Even before the first shells struck, the breech had been filled and was ready for firing. After 10 rounds the Preadators and Hellhounds went forward, supported by the infantry platoons (550 men). They tanks had got inot enemy range, when the morters started up again. They were firing blindly, giving no heed for the tanks and men already there... (The other tanks have already started to fire, I'll let you post the damage by everthing. Also post that SOME of my tanks and men were hit.)

[OOC: I'll post the morters hitting my tanks and men then.]

IC: The few morters which fell short of the enemy hit hit some of the Predators and Hellhounds. One such morter slammed into a HH, destroying it. The explosion of the Propane tanks engulfed the two tanks next to it, cooking off their ammunation. At least 10 tanks and 28 men were killed.

The Morters kept firing regardless, hitting the enemy with 2500 every minute at least. Tank commander Johnson was watching the carnage through his monoculars. He could see the devestation that lay before him.
Ready! The loader screadmed over the noise.
Good, fire! And keep this rate off fire up!
We'll only last an hour or so, we will need more shells!
Crap, try and get drops!
Aye commander.
The vox operater tried and contacted the "Leviathen", there supply ship. After 5 minutes of trying, he eventully raised them.
We need more shells! The voice on the other end crackled and then returned,
We shall send down some.

OOC: well Im assuming a load broke and I took prisoners, but that was just your first wave, and I know lasguns, assuming they would kill my men without going in through the eyeslit is a joke. It would take several hits to chew the armour up enough to do any damage. Hence the fact my men survied. That said most of them dont have much armour left. This idea is that they arent so hard to kill anymore. ANd thirdly, My"men" are seven foot tall superhumans who were in a good defensive position raing fire onto your men as they charged foward. , they were ready for your assault. Oh and lastly, as they are genetically modified they are taller and strionger and fasterm they have a better reach and faster reflexes than normal humans and are stronger. (basically one of my men is worth about 8 of yours, i only have 300,000 in my whole nation remember? and then add the fact i was in a good position) you shouldnt have expected much from that wave it was a suicide mission. You sent a 70th of your army against a 15th of mine, and im more than tiwce your size... do the maths. You didnt do too badly really.

They 'won' but at a heavy cost, and are tired and low on ammo and moral now. There is more to war then just killing the enemy and while you failed at killing you did a lot more.

The exact composition of the amrour had

IC: the men retook their postions and rearmed, ammo was low, but with conflict at home supplies wouldnt be available for a couple of days still. The scanners had shwon a mechanside attack coming to meet them and they sat ready. The tanks sat in the centre waiting for the enemy to come in range and the soldiers waited tensely in their armour which was much less impressive after the erosion of heavy lasgun fire.

Soon fire bagna rainign apon the men, from tanks, as one the thousand tanks in the middel of the feild started their engines and began firing back. The enemy closed and sat outside of cannon range (for the troops) firing mortars apon them. The fist few shells did little damage but the bombardment was rapidly picking up pace. They had no choice. They mounted their APCs and began heading for the enemy lines. Mortar shells landed among themhitting the APC's heavy armour to little effect, but other weapons rained down smashing holes in sevral of them fliiping the tanskl like the toys of an angry child. Men thrown around and killed as their tanks exploded in balls of fire.

About 7000 men dismebarked from the APCs at few hundred feet from the mortars and began running, while the tanks rode down the centre of the army, the predators however sprung foward shooting them as they ran for the infantry and mortars. The men fired at the guardsmen with much less accuracy than before as they were running for them. Still, a few guardsmen were hit and mutilated by the shells, but casualites were less hevay. Men fell to the gaurdsmen's return fire and the predators small weapons mowed the infanry down.

The combat tanks (about 500 of them) arrived at the crucial moment, and began firing at the predators, their huge lasers punching through armour effortlessy but taking several hits to make it count and destroy the tanks. And the predators were firing back and outnumered them heavily. The lighter tanks accelerating (1000 of them) and firing a little too in an attempt to break through the lines and get behind. However few suceedide din getting through to the griffons.

The hellhounds also attacked, their flamers doing little against the heat resistant armour of the troops, but as lasgun fire ate at thwe armour men fainted from heat exhaustion before being run over by the armoure behemoths.

Meanwhile as foghters and bombers shot overhead, the orange state flak units began firing heavy duty plasma missiles in fours foru per target, over 1000 sets of missiles filled the sky aas they attempted to drive the bombers vfrom the only part of the orange force that wasnt with the enemy, the artillery, which was tring to fire huge railgun and misile shots into the griffons.

(OOC:Im expecting to be able to suruvive your aricraft and for my artillery to cope well, as its heavily armoured and capable of piercing yours, but the main force are in trouble,

they were forced to meet your army halfway to avoid the bombardment, and while im expecting more of your men to die, my tanks arent any better than yours and my men cant do too much against them)

(you see in the last wave i had the tactical advantage but this time round i dont have much choice, ie your army has the upper hand in tactics, which has as much to with anything as sheer weight of numbers.. if not more)

Anyway casualties so far

to mortars, 1200 men
to tanks while in transit, 1800 men,
so far in the assault, 2000 men
tanks
200 Ornage state battle tansk
800 light tanks
artilery posts only one loss as I have a lot of air cover

Im expecting to chew your infantry up nicely, and your artillery to at least take some battering, but otherwise.... I have simular number of artilerry to you.

[OOC:] Yeah, cool. So what exactly has happened? What I know is there is a battle going on between: my tanks, your tanks. my men and your men. Am I right? What are the numbers of your tanks and men left. My bombers and fighters were a diversion....

[IC:] The battle going on in no-man's land was going in favour of Cam III, but the Orange state armour and men were holding out.... (My writing style is a bit like an authors, sorry 'bout that. Aspiring author, y'see.)
Soon the Orange army would be heavily outnumbered. High above the plains, 10 transports where being readied, containg 2 Regiments (Not to be used, I will use the new tanks and therefore out gun you, but you then offer the peace thingy, yes?) The Transports touched down under cover of the maruding fighters, still tying up the Orange AA guns. They disembarked and formed up into their regiments. The tanks on the other hand, headed of to bolster the tanks further up the battle field. (The same number and type.)
The Griffions lined up just behind the first ones, launching their shells into the enemy lines and tanks. They were also hitting their own armour. The Predators and, the now reduntant, Helhounds sped past the Griffions and used their numbers to outnumber and outgun the enemy. The Predators tagging many enemy light tanks, but few heavier ones. The Hellhounds were franticly chasing Orange infantry, trying but failing, to hose them in flames. The few remaining infantry squads went on a suicide march, straight into enemy lines. They ran towards the GM (Genticly modified) warriors, firing madly but missing quite a lot...
[OOC:] Post return and damage then the peace treaty thing, I think if you carry on anymore you will lose. And all your surviving men will be killed or enslaved... (J/k :))

Yeah both of us could send reinforcements, but it would be a bloody and expensive conflict for us both, you have the upper hand, but i have prisoners, which is why that ship has been sent.

IC: The tanks were desparate, using their powerful lasers to slice though CAM tanks, but finding themselves destroyed almost as quickly by their attacks. Their numbers were runnign down quickly now.

In the melee the screams of men being torn limb from limb by monomolecular blades migled with armour being eaten by chainsaws. The orange state troops had number advantages andwere better fighters, but were weary and wounded. (you said there were 10 platoons which unless you use totally different measurement s is 500 men) (and I have about 7000 in the melee) and a few had fallen. They set down and begand firing their missiles at the tanks. Making for the large part large explosions but little actual damage. The odd tanks was take damage but there were more tanks than men.

The artillery remaing safe on the hill continued bombarding the enemy artillery stopping to reload and fire more huge rail slugs. The missiles withdrew having each fired their 4 missiles (of about 500KG payload) at the enemy artillery.

At this point as the last few tansk and Ornage troops with their APCs huddled together for a last stand that high above the battle a small ship had arrived and began transmitting an offer of peace.

The exact message was a small verbal ultimatum with a document enclosed.

The Document follows as my next post. The ultimatum was simple.

"Due to your actions in our home system and your ability and the prowess of your warriors in this war, we have a respect for your nation. We wish to initiate peace. We have enclosed a treaty, you may offer a few revisions to it and we will probably accept if these are small. You have an advantage in this war so far, but we have prisoners.

We belive that war between our nations ouwld be bloody and expensive for both sides, and ultimately not worth the toil to beat the shattered fragements of what would remain of our nations, and wish to end it before it escalates."

the voice was the deep and fearsome voice of the massive magius the mighty and horrific emperor of the Orange state.
Orange state

By agreeing to this treaty both CAM III and Orange state will be bound by it.

Is one of peace and the following.

1) Neither country shall intiate an act of war apon the other.

2)Both countries shall trade with no barriers, direct or indirect apon each other.

3) The planets will be divided as follows. Each nation shall have 2 planets and half of one.

4) Both nations shall strive to keep the region free of piracy.

5) Both nations retain the rights to sell land to other parties, but one selling you must give first refusal to the other nation in this treaty. Unless the land is sold to a corporation with military of its own beyond a security/escort fleet of 20 small vessels. Or it is a corporation from the nation selling.

THe suggested BUT NOT FINAL division of the planets is as follows

the inner planets go to one party, they would gain the Iron and non metal mineral planets (the scorched one and the desert world) with the agriculatural world split into east and west hemispheres with both nations receiving equal land and dull access to any new species discovered so theycan be researched. The outer two planets beloning entirely to the other party allowing the asteroid and gas mining for that group.

A space staion orbiting the agri world would make a good point for trade of the reasources so that we can both gain benifits from the proximity of the reasources even without direct access.

This allows the new system to be divided Geographically.

(OOC: i have no preference which group of planets i get)

Addenda: almost all my forces will be withdrawn on agreement, and hostages returned, a few vessels will beleft as border guards and a few police corvettes will enter the system to sweep for pirates.

Police activity varies but the fleet will be small ( OOC: I will notify you of any change or buildup of more than one extra vessel per terran six monthly period as you would notice, same applies to me)

ANyone else can trade with this sytem obviously. Blocking them from your territory is a sovereign right, from other people's is not allowed.

Any space within 100000 miles of a planet and its orbiting path is considered your territory. The rest of the system is neutral. Access to other nation's territory mass not be restricted unless they specifically ask you to.

Which planets does CAMIII wish to claim? we would prefer the out planets as they have good materials for weapons and fuel, but dont mid as we can trade iron and on metals like diamond and silicon if we have the other two. As well as power cells recycled by the amount of solar plants we could set up on the desert world.

We have sent a small convoy of transports with materials to set the neutral station up and a few defenses and stations up in our territorty. We have a team of engineers ready to design it, but maybe you would like to contribute a few men to the project to help with the desin and help it suit your people better too.

You have earnt our respect in war and we hope this will continue through trade and co operation. As we would rather have a nation like you covering our back than attacking it.
Cam III
08-09-2004, 18:26
Yes, you may have the outer planets. We need the one closet to the sun to create weapon cells and other power. You may set up some (0-10) power collecters on the planet. Could you please inform me of the planets I will be recieving?
Orange state
09-09-2004, 12:04
Well you get the inner planet (OOC:as yet unnamed, i think our EC forum would be a good palce to determine that) which is unsuitable for any sort of life at all, and needs some sort of protection for your men to survive the suface, but is almost entirely iron and so good for basic metals. It is fairly small but fairly dense and its compirsed 86% of iron.

Secondly, you get the desert world which is rich in minerals like silicon, carbon and other useful non metals. ITs atmosphere is mainly CO2 and oxygen and it has some water on the surface, its AT is about 40C so, the poles and regions nearby them are suitable for life of some sort, putting rainforestson them would generate oxygen over time and gradually reduce the need for oxygen supplies or oxygen regen units (wehich are hideously expensive to run) on yur planet, it could then be subject to a little farming round the middle. There is little rain but again, rainforests would create it over them.

the remaining surface would be clear skied and perfect for solar plants to power whatever you want. It is about 38000 miles in circumference with a grabvitational field on surface of 1.08 G's

You get half the world with life already on, rights to study any species you find and farm it. As we will also do so. It doesnt require terraforming, though it is one point two degrees colder than earth. And two degrees colder than our home planet. Its radius is approximatley equal to terra.

We have the ability to mine the asteroids, so we should be able to ship uranium and tungsten out to you in large quantities, we will be able to supply them to you. We will also have lots of gas fuels from the gas giant, perfect for putting in the cells which we will then recycle using te solar plants we set up on your planet. though we can supply you with gas for cells if you will recycle ours.

Our energy system is based on power cells which scontain a lot of energy, the reaction or porcess is reversable but takes a lot of energy and rare materials, with solar plants like that we can produce energy and recycle more cells cheaply. The exact fuel and process varies with use and cell, but we are looking for more powerful energy sources. Even our ships have huge cells which feed into the reator and are gradually used and frewilled with wste while a new cell is used, these lat years but are very expensive and cost a lot to recharge, our largest ships have up to five or six of our largest cell type!

We will compensate you $10bn for this land (we assume we have a few square miles), it is a small price to pay as we can set plants and space ports up on it and sell it on for a good amount, which will cover this. As it will be run by a private company they will trade with your people too.

Within weeks it was all inplace, industry had built spaceports and started some output and the station was completed. Heavily armoured and sheilded but completely unarmed (above defence turret class weapons) the huge station served as a hub for trade between the Camians and Ornage state people. One third the internal decor was of the camian design and one third of the orange state people, but the interesting area was were both factions had co operated, the decor was practically a new and avant garde form of art in both nations due to the mixing of styles.

Ships buzzed in and out of the station, varying in size formships that were docked by a series of walkways that seemed like tiny cords next to the vessel and station, down to little fighter sized vessels carrying a weeks' shopping for the richer residents of the system.

Perhaps not the richest area to begin with, the system quickly became culturally rich (or as rich as two business driven dictatorships can manage) as the people tried their traditons and dieing delacacies and traditions were dusted off for new restaurants and theatres.

All the while both nations felt the pressure of their huge expansion from their worlds, created by the demands of exploration, lifted from their shoulders, continuing to be careful with their reasources, they would never have to worry about such things for a long time.

In Orange state the thiord largest business grew to the largest and most diverse conglomerate of Orange's many ina few months following a coup in which a father was replaced by his daring and fiery son....

Within a couple of hours of this the army was replaced by a few garrisonned troops and a couple of peacekeeping (from priates and raiders and other nations) ships along with a large police presence (nothing unusual, OS has a very large police presence anyway, its our biggest spending area infact we only have three governent spending areas anyway but never mind that)

Oh I almost forgot.

Your men have been retunred they are unharmed and while they may need a debriefing will be battle ready at when needed. They arent weakened through any bad treatment as we knew we'd need them as a bargaining chip and so took care of them.

Anyway, they are on a shuttle which will leave them on the station in groups of 1000 each two hours untl all have been returned (allowing you to deal with them slowly rather than flooding the station with men)

Oranget state security reports a little tension caused by certain members of our nation wanting us to go back to war.

We have executed them as traitors under the national interest act of protestors section 1. These are in the rapidly shrinking minority (partly because a lot of people are making a living from trading with you and partyl because we are killing those who disagree with us)
