Inexplicably, the government of Antebellum South has lost control of the nation. Barbarians from the north are poised to invade the motherland. The entire nation is reverting to full-scale feudalism as wealthy white plantation owners, nominally loyal to their states' governors, are organizing self-defense militias. There have been large-scale insurrections by negro slaves though other slaves remain loyal to their masters. Gangs, made of either poor whites or escaped slaves, wander the land looting and pillaging.

Dictator's Palace, Serti
The Dictator of Serti, Honsan Doret, skimmed over the day's intelligence report. A small note caught his eye. Apperantly some nation called Antebellum South was collapsing. He picked up the red phone in front of him.

"Hello? Department of War? This is Dictator Doret. Annex Antebellum South...Of course I'm sure!...Right...goodbye."

He put the red phone down and picked up the green phone.

"Hello, Ministry of Media? Yes, this is me. No, no! Stop that god famn fawning. Anyway, I need you to put out a story about us annexing Antebellum South. Make it good. That's all."

He sat back in his chair and whistled. Today had been prductive. Very productive indeed.

Antebellum South

A group of tanks rolled to stop. A single figure climbed out of the lead tank and looked around. It was General Daniel Kackon, head of the armies of Serti. "So...this is Aantebellum South." he said to himself, "Well, it's part of Serti now. he leaned into the turret and picked up the mic.

"Attention all units. Advance at will."

A convoy of trucks and AFV's slowly began to snake past him. Engineers arrived and began constructing a command post. A squadron of planes flew overhead.

"General, so far our troops report scattered recistance."

Kackon nodded. "good. How's the advance from the west going?"

"Unknown General./ We haven't gotten in contact with them yet."

"Well, keep me informed."

"yes, sir."

Hampcourt Airbase - Commonwealth of Wintrees.
1800 - 3rd Air Assault Division HQ

"Sir, orders from Command." shouted Sergeant Grent over the din of the Helicopters warming up their engines all over the airbase. "We are a go for Op Red River."
"Thank you Sergeant!" replied General Williams, sat on the deck of one of the leading Helicopters. "Captain, we are good to go, lets get this show on the road."

Orlando - Florida

"Sunray this is 3."
"Go ahead 3."
"We've marked the LZ on a crossroads about 20 kicks south of Tampa."
"Roger, stand by, Cobra is on its way."
"Got that Sunray. out"

1 hour later. The 10th Air Assault Brigade had touched down in the LZ and had secured the area. The plan was to capture the tip of Florida.. cutting it in half drawing the line from the city of Orlando.

The 3 other brigades in the Division had assaulted and taken a saltwater port on the west coast of Florida and the 13th Air Assault Brigade had started to "pepper pot" its way through the swamp land to secure the area between the saltwater port and the 10th Air Assault Brigades LZ.

Meanwhile in Wintrees, a convoy of ships where lined up, ready to embark the mobilizing Infantry and armor elements on the Wintrees mainland.

Official Communiqué

The Commonwealth will keep the situation under watch for the present. We do ask that all participants observe the rules of war and refrain from human rights violations. Deployments are possible, but Granzian units will not fire unless fired upon. Thank you and good day.

Secret IC: Civilians living near military bases have noticed a marked increase of activity. The Government is currently not responding to questions posted by the press.

Hampcourt - Wintrees Armed forces HQ - Wintrees

"General Williams on the comm sir." said James, the CinC's civilian aid.
"Put him through... Ah General, how goes the... war?"

"The landings went better then expected, there was no organized resistance and the roaming escaped slaves around 10th Air Assault Brigades' position were quickly drove off. The 13th are making slow work linking up with the 10th however getting caught up in pockets of resistance, I fear we are becoming over extended in our haste."

"And the Port?"

"The port at Tampa is secure, there was light damage from the rioting but nothing our engineers can't handle. The city itself is a war zone at the moment however, rivals gangs etc. As I said I fear we might over reach ourselves if we try and drive them out of the town on our own.... Where are the reinforcements?"

"1st Airborne have been earmarked for something else, just came down from MIE... your have to wait for the Light Division to arrive by boat... we are however mobilizing the 9th Air Assault Brigade."

"The 9th? But they are out of the rotation... aren’t they all on leave?"

"They are being recalled."

"It could take weeks before they are ready to move."

"Yes.... thats why I advised to wait for the Light Division. They have an ETA of 6 days."

"I don't think we can hold the position for 6 days... what if the gangs get organized? Or even worst... a rival power?"

"..... Keep your Helicopters in prime condition General, you might be needing them to return to Wintrees.."

"Thank you sir.."

General Williams shut down the comm unit and turned to his aide. Captain Fredrickson. "Check the fuel supplies for the Helicopters.. send out units.. no smaller then company sized to search for supplies in the city. We are planning to hold here without supply for 2 weeks. Understand?"

"2 weeks sir? But command... ahem... The men only have enough rations for 2 days."

"I know, thats why we have to work fast... understand Captain.. that 16 hours ago I was sat at home drinking a beer in my back garden... this operation wasn't planned AT ALL! And its falling apart because of it.... before you go Fredrickson.. put me in contact with 10th."

"Yes Sir." replied Fredrickson and handed the General another comm unit before disappearing.

"10th?" asked the General.

"Yes Sir, Brigadier Hornton speaking."

"Good, Jack... listen up. We are in abit of a situation here.. as you know we planned to just swan in here.. waiting 2 days on the man packed rations and ammo... and maybe foraging some extras from the country-side... Well, like I said in the briefing, its gone to horse shit. Command will take 6 days to get the reinforcements and supplies to us."

"10th are to Withdraw to the city of Tampa? Quickly?"

"Thats right Jack, I want all my eggs in one basket. Do it quick... theres a chance that your get cut off. I'm withdrawing the 13th from the link up point as well.... so be quick." replied Williams, he then turned off the comm unit and walked outside of the sandbag bunker. The sound of gunfire at the perimeter of the port was getting louder..... "It can only get worst" said Williams, mumbling.

The Fascist Confederacy wishes to claim all land east of Vicksburg and south of Savannah. A colonization fleet has been sent with the following statistics:

The Concordiat of Wirraway recognizes the Fascist Confederation's claim the area East of Vickburg and South of Savannah. The Concordiat of Wirraway in turn claims the City of Charleston and the area to the North terminating in Washington D.C and all cities therein. This area will comprise of the States formerly known as Virgina, North Carolina and South Carolina. The Concordiat also wishes it to be known that it would be willing to create a DMZ between the cities of Charleston and Savannah that extends the length of the Antebellum South to create a buffer zone between the territory of the Concordiat and that of the Fascist Confederation. The colony will be named Rowanoke. An armed colonization fleet has been dispatched the area and should arrive within two (NS) days.

Official Communiqué

The Commonwealth does not recognise the unreasonable claims made by the nation of Wirraway (OOC: You're taking too much land.). We insist that your claim be revised. Granzian forces will begin arriving in Charleston within 1 NS day, and will proceed to secure the area. Any inferance by Wirraway will be met with arms. The Commonwealth hereby claims all of South Carolina.

Although the Concordiat does not belive that it's actions are unreasonable it is willing to compromise somewhat. The Concordiat will recognize the Commonwealth's claim to South Carolina if in turn the Commonwealth recognizes the Concordiat's claim to Virginia. Also, the Concordait proposes the dividing of North Carolina. The Concordiat will recieve the Northern area while the Commonwealth will be free to pursue the Southern territory. The Concordiat believes this to be a reasonable offer and hopes the the Commonwealth will take it under consideration.

The President skimmed over the quickly-written report.

"So Antebellum South is falling into insurrection?" he inquired to those gathered in his office.

"Quite so, sir." answered Secretary of State Montague. "Several nations are already staking claims."

"Brutal colonization." Added General Theo.

"Well, we must do something, correct?"

General Appleton looked thorugh his binoculars as the dust of the convoy settled. As fellow Americans, they had recieved little resistance thus far. Ahead lay Fredericksburg, the first large city they had come across. Appleton turned to one of his aides, Colonel Sarzetti.

"Well, I suppose we do what we've been doing. Announce we're Americans who merely want to restore order. Don't order in the tanks or anything big yet, they'll resent it."

"Yes, sir."

"Have you been in contact with the landing area yet?"

"Yes sir, it's secure."

"Excellent. I do hope reinforcements come soon."

We find this to be a suitable compromise between Wirraway and Granzi. We hereby recognise the claims made by the fore mentioned nation. We are pleased that the Iron Concordiat has found a solution to the situation on hand. As for the division of North Carolina, we feel that this may be acceptable:

"Admiral Oman, are the ships in position?" Asked King 'Lude II of Admiral Kat W. Oman, Naval Secretary to the king.

"Yes Your Highness, exactly as you directed last month when the the government's collapse appeared imenent."

"Good job Admiral! General Ripper's intelligence forces tell me a full collapse has occurred and the time to strike is now. I want the subs Bhang and Karras II to take the port of New Orleans now. I want a battleship in lake Ponchatrain by this time tommorow and our troops in the French Quarter by dinner time tonight. Use the carriers for air support and secure the city and the mouth of the Misssissippi River. Once that is done, go up river to Baton Rouge and secure that city and then on up to Natchez, Mississippi and secure that city. They'll offer no resistance in Natchez, so take care not to destroy the Under-the-Hill Saloon, Rosalie, Magnolia Hall, Stanton Hall and the other Antebellum homes in the area. Also, sent in General Ripper's ground forces from New Orleans and over from Baton Rouge to Lafayette, Louisiana and secure control of that city. You might want to send a nice contingent of SEALs or Black Berets up from Tabasco Island as well to help in securing Lafayette and the region between there and New Orleans. I want total and complete control of the triangle from Lafayette up to Natchez and back down the Mississippi River to New Orleans within 48 hours or a good explanation as to why this hasn't happened. We'll control the Mouth of the Mississippi, have nice winter homes (believe me, you do not want to summer in Natchez, New Orleans, Baton Rouge or Lafayette, but the winters there are pleasant). More importantly, with the mouth of the Missippi under control and the river all ours up to Natchez, shipping and trade will have to come through us to reach Jacksonville, Vicksburg, Memphis, St. Louis, etc. That alternate history science fiction book I read How the North Won the War clearly detailed the devastating effect it had on the South when the North took New Orleans and control of the Mississippi River. Their troops sailed without opposition to Vicksburg and then Memphis and that was the end of the a good portion of the resistance from the south. You are authorized to use whatever force needed to secure the territory, soon to be known as the "Duchy of Nawlins." If forces from other countries get in your way you to attempt diplomatic negotiations and refer them to us. However, the natives are to recognize our rule or be destroyed. Got that?"

"It's as good as done Your Highness. As you spoke I transmitted the 'go' code to our fleet. The Carrier Ganja's planes and attack choppers will reach New Orleans within the hour and the Bhang should be in New Orleans harbor in less time than that and will offload her entire SEAL contingent within the next 20 minutes or so. Operation 'Swampland' is in full swing."

With that, King 'Lude II took a drag on the blunt laying in the ashtray. "Good deal, its been too long since I was able to go gator hunting. It's time to own the gators."

Open communication to those countries overrunning the Antebellum South. Please note, we have sent our forces in and intend to take and hold the triangle (more or less) of land from Natchez, Mississippi, through Baton Rouge, down to Lafayette and over to New Orleans and back up the Mississippi River to Natchez. This territory will be known as the "Duchy of Nawlins" and we intend to control the mouth of the Mississippi river and the river itself up to Natchez. We could care less about any other land or territory within the Antebellum South, you can all have it. The Duchy of Nawlins will be a state subject to home rule from Mauiwowee, but will be open for trade as a free zone, much the way Hong Kong was while under British Control, even though a part of China. We have no wish for war with other nations involved in the takeover of Antebellum South, but we must insist on being allowed to develop this duchy unopposed. We'll be the buffer zone, free trade zone and Party Duchy of the new south. Please contact us if you are agreeable or wish to negotiate our claims further.

The Concordiat is pleased that Granzi has accepted the compromise and is in agreement with the division of North Carolina. The Concordiat also wishes to create a 2 mile DMZ between the 2 areas of control to enure the absence of border incidents. At this time the Concordait would also like to address the claim made on its colony in Virgina by the New Jersey Counties. This state is now a colony of the Concordiat and will be defended as such from the,"barbarian invaders from the North." It is well known that the population Antebellum South would prefer to be occupied by a foriegn nation than by Northerners. Any military unit of the New Jersey Counties which has not exited the borders of the Concordiat colony in Virginia by the time the invasion fleet has arrived will be deemed hostile and will be dealt with as such.

Official Communiqué

We find no reason for a buffer zone, as Granzi will not be the instigator of hostilities against the colonies of the Iron Concordiat. However, if you insist, we find no problem with your requests. I would also like to take this moment to thank the nation of Wirraway for their support in the Cyprus situation. We hope that conflict can be resolved without resorting to arms.

The Concordiat withdraws is recognition of the territory of the Fascist Confederation. The territory was only recognized if it was not challenged. The Concordiat wishes to stay neutral in this conflict. The matter is to be worked out be Mauiwowee and the Fascist Confedeation.

"This is 'Live at 5" coming to you from the top of the World's Fair tower in downtown New Orleans with a breaking story. A submarine, identified as the sub Bhang from the Kingdom of Mauiwowee has surfaced in the Port of New Orleans and dozens of naval SEALs and Special Forces troops have offloaded into the city in a coordinated effort to seize control. Additionally, attack helicopters and fighters from two Mauiwowee carriers are headed inland as we speak. Mayor Huey P. Long III is urging calm while the situation is assessed.

We would like to welcome our newest citizens to the Iron Concordiat of Wirraway. We are bringing aid to your states as this message is being broadcast. We will restore order in your state and make it safe to walk the streets once more. After we have rebuilt and rehabilitated your infrastructure and government your colony will become a soveriegn democratic nation, in the greater organization of the concordiat. As per the Concordiat's consitution all persons in the colony shall be accorded equal rights under law and in all other cirumstances. Our fleet will be arriving at your shores in about 1 and 1/2 days, we come not as conquerors but as liberators from the feudal system under which you are now living. We hope that this will be the start of long and prosperous reltionship between the people of the Antebellum South and our nation. Once again welcome to the Concordiat.

"General, our forces report that they have control over Arkansas and Tennesee. Our forces to the south are digging in and pacifying any local recistance. The 12th Infantry is currently marching north to secure Kentucky. The 25th Armored Regiment is in support. The engineers are constructing airfields and other neccessary buildings. Our colonists and governing adminstration are beginning to move in."

"Excellent! Send a messag to the other nations attempting to take advantage of the situation. If they attempt to interfere with us we will respond with force."

We have secured the North-western part of what was Antebellum South. Do not attempt to interfere with us. We will be opening trade routes and other roads when we can. Any hostile actions will be met with the utmost force.

OOC: Just a quick note: my infantry is armed with pre-WW2 tech weaponry which is essentially bolt action and semi-automatic rifiles with machine guns, mortars, bazookas, etc. Some (mostly elite) units carry SMGs. Our planes are making the transaction from prop to jet technology, so our airforce is a mix of early jet fighter/bombers and prop engine fighters and bombers. Our tanks, however, are up to the best of modern day, and perhaps a bit better. Thanks for your time.

The Concordiat will not tolerate the occupation of Kentucky by the Army of Serti. It will however provisionally recognize its claim to Arkansas and Tennessee. The Concordiat wishes it to be made clear that once its fleet arrives forces will be sent to Kentucky regardless of the presence of the Army of Serti. It would be foolish for the Army of Serti to believe that it could secure an entire State with one infantry Division and a Regiment of tanks. The Concordiat sees that the Army of Serti has overstretched its-self but The Concordiat will not take advantage of this fact unless the Army of Serti refuses to withdraw from the State of Kentucky and leave it to Concordiat.

This message is to the New Jersey Counties, the Concordiat, in exchange for withdrawing from Virginia would like to offer the Northern half of Kentucky and West Virginia to the Counties. The Concordiat will secure the Southern area while New Jerseyian forces will move west from Nothern Virginia to Northern Kentucky and West Virginia. It would be pleasing the Concordiat if the New Jersey Counties took this under consideration.

OOC: just as a side note I have a modern day army fielding the same weaponery as the current American armed forces.

The Grand Duchy of Norleans is a tiny, economically powerful nation, remarkable for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 5 million live in a state of perpetual fear, as a complete breakdown of social order has led to the rise of order through biker gangs.

The small government juggles the competing demands of Commerce, Education, and Defence. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 4%. A healthy private sector is led by the Trout Farming industry, followed by Basket Weaving and Arms Manufacturing.

Crime is a problem, and the police force struggles against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Norleans's national animal is the alligator, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the bud.

"Well, we've been ordered out of here to Western Virginia and Northern Kentucky. Seems Wirraway has already laid claim here. Some sorta breakdown of communication."

"Some breakdown, sir."

"You're telling me. Seems an army from Serti(I hear they just have a buncha rifles from before WW2, and only their tanks are up to date) is claiming Kentucky. Wirraway won't have it. Well, Colonel, order the men back here, and let's get ready to move out."

The idea is to occupy and control all the territory which lies directly south of Tennessee (except that part that is in South Carolina). We'll glad forego any claim to the rest of Georgia and would suggest that South Carolina's new rulers annext that 1/2 of Georgia. Non-Agression and trade is the name of the game in the new southern countries. If ya'll think this is too much land, let me know. The Concordiat is not entirely pleased by this action. The Duchy of Norleans already Encompasses three entire states. Granzi only controls southern NC and SC. It is not so much as taking half of Georgia as it is taking Atlanta that angers the Concordiat (OOC: your being greedy). Granzi has only one Major city Charleston and very little territory in comparison. The Concordiat respectfully requests Norleans to rescind its claim to Georgia, or redraws the boundary so the city of Atlanta is the territory of Granzi.

While my commanders will certainly critisize me for revealing our military strength in the area, I hope that the following proposal is sufficient to ensure a peaceful transition to a new south and the complete destruction of the Antebellum South. With that in mind, we propose the following (and we recognize your concerns about our expansion, we too are concerned about General Ripper's ambitions)

We propose the following division of territory (and yes, it means re-drawing existing state lines).

Louisiana All of existing Louisiana belongs to our Duchy, Norleans
Mississippi Greenville north east to Tupelo (which we control) then south east to Birmingham, Alabama north of which we propose be recognized as Serti's territory, with Birmingham being under Serti's control. Alabama then south of I-20 from Birmingham to the Alabama/Georgia state line to us, north to Serti. Norleans then will follow the state line south to Columbus, Georgia and then stay west of highway 27 from there south to Amsterdam, Georgia and the Florida border. The rest of Georgia to be split on mutually agreeable terms between Serti and Wirraway.

This give Norleans all of Louisiana, the southern (more or less) 2/3 of Mississippi and southern 1/2 of Alabama and about 5% of Georgia (with a complete renunciation of any claim to Atlanta, Macon, etc.). Serti gets the northern 1/3 (again, more or less) of Mississippi, 1/2 of Alabama as well as control over a major city or two in both states and leaves Serti and Wirraway with the option of how to divide 90% + of Georgia and protect us all from the conquerors of Florida.

Please, if the above is acceptable, lets seal the deal now. If not, lets negotiate. I fear Florida's failure to to anything after the taking of Tampa, Orlando and seemingly, Miami. Our navy is posed to protect the southern coast and your armies are poised to protect our northern land borders. Let's make this work and we can all emerge as worldwide superpowers.

New Jersey Peacekeeping Forces have secured Northern Kentucky and Western Virginia. Frankfort will remain the capital of Northern Kentucky, and Charleston of W. Virginia. We wish, first of all, to apologize for our earlier "greed" and attempts at "land grabbing." We recognize that we are all in this together and can raise the standard of discourse and living in the former states of the Antebellum South.

On behalf of King 'Lude II, our leader in Mauiwowee, we also wish to thank you for your recognition of our revised claims. We are sincerely hopeful that Serti will join us in this arrangement.

Please note that once full control over the Duchy of Norleans and it's subservient states of Southern Mississippi and Southern Alabama (which includes now a small portion of Georgia) is fully secured, we intend to open the port of Mobile, Alabama as a major military and civilian (i.e. economic) port. Reasonable Port-of-Call charges will of course be collected, but tarriffs on goods and transportation to Serti, Granzi, Wirraway and New Jersey Counties will be at no more than cost plus 1% to cover the cost of road, rail and waterway maintainance (however, our agreement with Serti for free shipping via the Mississippi and the Arkansas River still stands, this is just another port with different requirements).

As a token of our esteem, we are offering to each of you the use of the Antebellum home of your choice in New Orleans for the entire Mardi Gras season for the next 20 years.

The world welcomes today a new nation, known as the Grand Duchy of Norleans. Comprised of the states of Louisiana, Southern Mississippi, Southern Alabama and Georgette. Under the leadership of "Uncle" Duke, Huey P. Long III, Norleans and its new neighbors, Serti, Granzi, Wirraway and the New Jersey Counties are poised to bring new order to the former Antebellum South and create a powerhouse alliance and force to be reckoned with. The Duchy of Norleans has agreed to the establishment of mutual embassies with its neighbors and mutual trade, non-aggression and defense talks are to begin in the near future.

On another note, the former state of Florida is still seemingly caught up in the chaos that befell the area upon the collapse of the Antebellum South. It is anticipated that the new southern alliance will be able to rectify the situation shortly. In the meantime however, most world governments have directed their citizens to stay out of Florida. Intense fighting in Disneyland, Tampa Bay and Miami has been noted by satellite and the danger to civilians cannot be understated.

OOC: I made the map by right clicking on the picture in the 1st post in this thread and saving it to my desktop and then opening it in Corel Photo-Paint (any decent paint program should do though) and editing it by drawing the new lines, typing in the new state names, etc. and coloring my land so it would stand out. Then I saved it as a .jpg file and did the post using the attachement option to attach the picture to the post. If everyone will tell me exactly what they own, I'll edit a new map to set out all our territory so we get a nice feel for how the new south looks.

Norleans would like to invite its new allies to a summit in New Orleans to discuss what to do about the Florida situation. Win Trees' abandoned invasion has thrown the place into chaos. We're also not sure of the boundries of the new states and would like to formalize those so that the royal cartographers can complete a mapping of the area for inclusion in the next issue of International Geographic.

After reviewing the map a second time the Concordiat sees that it and the counties have considerably less territory than the other colonies. The concordiat wishes to have other colonies which border florida exchange land in florida for lands which border the Concordiat, for example Granzi could have the Eastern half of florida if it ceedes the rest of North Carolina to the Concordiat. The the Concordiat would give all of Kentucky to the Counties and everything would be balanced out. Norleans and Serti could further divide Western Florida between themselves. The Concoridiat repsectfully wishes other the other nations in the south to consider this plan of action.

OOC: We'll second the name and an announcement thread. Has everyone started a puppet country with the new name of their territory? You certainly don't have to, but it might make things kinda cool. As to the announcement thread and recruiting allies, why not have a "contest" to see who we are willing to let have Florida? Just an idea.

We would respectfully state, as it regards the re-drawing of territorial lines, the royal cartographers are going to have a cow. But since they get paid well for what they do, screw 'em :D

Next, we would take the position that South Serti has enough territory as it is and also note that they do not border Florida at all. We appreciate their offer to send in troops to pacify Florida, but we would respectfully reject any claim to any part of Flordia by them.

We do approve the idea of the Commonwealths of New Monmouth being comprised of the entirety of West Virginia and Kentucky (though we kinda like the idea of North and South Kentucky) and we also approve the idea of Rowanoke being comprised of all of Virginia and North Carolina and Tyrunia being comprised of South Carolina and Georgia.

We then propose the following changes to our and Serti's territory. South Serti gives up all claims to north Mississippi and Alabama. I get all of Mississippi. I give up my claim to "Georgette" (Tyrunia gets it as part of Georgia) and I also give up all of Alabama except the little "nipple" that has Mobile (OOC: I want the sea port, Mauiwowee is an island nation with a major naval presence and we feel we are the best nation to defend the southern alliance via our naval presence in the Gulf of Mexico) We then "invite" a new country to take Florida and the rest of Alabama. If this is approved, everybody has 2 states with the exception that I've been granted control of Mobile, Alabama (I would only want as much of Alabama is is needed to extend my control to Mobile). If we can agree to this we then have:
South Serti: Arkansas & Tennessee
Commonwealth of New Monmouth: Kentucky & West Virginia
Rowanoke: Virginia & North Carolina
Tyrunia: South Carolina & Georgia

I would argue this is a fair proposal to all and enables us to attract one more significant ally into the region. What says everyone?

The Commonwealth agrees with the above guidelines, but stops short of forming a mutual alliance with our Southern neighbors. This is not due to mistrust, but rather the preference of Granzi to refrain from forming excessive commitments. We suggest a loose pact with the Southern Alliance, as we will defend our friends from aggressors if the need ever arises.

RE: Finality of territorial claims and mapping

Attatched is a final map of the new southern alliance as it has been agreed to by all members and associate members. It is our understanding and belief that this will constitute a final map but for the invitation of one more member who will control Florida & Alabama (OOC: in other words all I have to do is add the name of one more country).
We agree that it is time to invite another country to join us in our alliance. The words "free land" seem to attract a great deal of attention in post and announcement titles. I would request, however, that we not just let the first yahoo who says "I'll do it" be permitted to take control of the territory and join the alliance. A majority vote of all of us should be required to accept the new country into our alliance and some guidelines as to who would be acceptable should be set out. In that vein, we propose the following:

To be an acceptable final member of the New Southern Alliance, a country must:

1. Have a population of at least 250 million (OOC: keeps out total N00bs)

2. reasonably request to join the alliance and respect our aims (OOC: no "I claim Florida" and then disapearance from the thread)

3. Engage in dialouge with us and let us know why we should let them join us (OOC: in other words we and they RP a dialouge concerning the admission to the alliance)

4. Be voted in by a simple majority of us (OOC: we should RP the debate and vote that admits the final member of the alliance)

Until a final member is voted in, I would request that all members of the alliance dedicate troops to the support of a provisional, alliance led, government committee to control the territory. We have dispatched a carrier, battleship, troop carrier and a air wing to the Tampa Bay area to begin securing southern Florida and the Keys. Also, our troops and aircraft based in Mobile will handle the panhandle of Florida and south Alabama. Troops should be sent in by the other members of the alliance to control north Alabama, the northern and central portions of Florida and the Eastern coast of Florida.

We look forward to a great future together.

The Commonwealth is in agreement with the above terms. To facilitate the committee's contol over Florida, the 13th Carrier Battle Group has been detatched from the 7th Battlefleet and is enroute to Jacksonville. Granzian forces will then begin peacekeeping operations in North Florida. We hope this is the start of a properous alliance to all.

Rowanoke has dispatched its 1st carrier group, based in Newport News, to the Eastern Coast of Florida. 4 divisions from the first corps, 3 mechanized infantry and one Armored, are aboard Ro/Ro conatiner craft and are travelling with the fleet. OOC: I think Turkmeny/Tokarov is the best were going to get, he is a very powerful nation and will be an asset to the our alliance, I think we should let him in, my vote is for Turkmeny.

OOC: He is however, in an imperialist campaign in Korea, and has met signifcant opposition, including Granzi. There have also been a case of human rights abuses, more specifically, execution of Korean officers immediately upon capture. We suggest that his vote for admission be placed on hold fro the time being.

As to Texarkania, absolutely admit him as an associate member, between Tyrunia, Norleans and now, seemingly, Turkmeny, we, in association with Texarkania could eventually sieze control of the entire Gulf of Mexico, Cuba, Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, etc.
