Daniamanian First Strike (closed RP)

The decision by Doomlord Don Ladro has reached the Chief of Staff of the Daniamanian Forces Allegedly for Self-Defense (DFASD). In light of Jaconan impertanance, there can be only one choice: war! BUT, being the sneaky guy that he is (He is a rogue in D&D after all), Don doesn't issue a formal declaration...
----------------------------------
At Vilcirya Air Base, deep in the heart of Daniamania, an airborne strikeforce prepares for departure. 4 JA5-45 Eagle Stealth fighters leap into the air to provide cover for the following wing of 12 Rb-30 stealth bombers. They form up into four groups of three bombers and one fighter each and, under the dark shroud of night, streak off for the Jaconan border at mach 1.5. Each fighter is armed with two AGM-88 HARM's and two AIM120 AMRAAMS. Each bomber is armed with three 2000-lb laser-guided bombs, and one in each group has been modified to carry a laser designator.
Meanwhile, tank and infantry divisions all along the border are put on alert. Thousands of aircraft, ranging from ageing but venerable F-16's to the shiny newer XF-15 Cheatas are prepped at air bases all over the country.
1st and 2nd Air Fleets, each consisting of 1 RT3307 SkyBase, 2 RT3007 Defenders, 25 RF- 9 Liberators and 25 RF-11 Archangels are activated in the capital of Osqueechiath.
------------------------
As he receives the confirmations from his chiefs of staff that the preps and first strike are on schedule, Ambarhir Don Ladro sits back in his chair and smiles. "God help the Jaconans tonight."

As a close ally of Daniamania, Canadaplace signs a treaty granting Daniamania unlimited free passage and air space throughout its territory and coastal waters.
I would like ot point out that, do to a rescent and unsuccessful attempt at a previous war, and do to the fact that i was on holiday, returning only a couple of weeks ago, i have lost interest in buying for this war. I am unprepaired and under-stocked.
I do, however, have many anti-aircraft weopon sitting from our last "war". I am willing to give your forces a chance to reconsider (and possibly restock), if they will only delay a couple of days to let my forces get back in action.
OOC: It wasnt any secret that you would gather a ton of air forces, so the fact that i know your plans now wont really influence what im going to buy, since i would buy this anyway. I hope it won't influence our decision to give me these requested days.

I, being of sound mind and military state, hereby declare my alligence to the honorable Jacona. I will give him military aid, passage through my territory, trade of any supplies we can provide, and even tactically advice and assistance, if necessary.

27-08-2004, 01:56
ooc: I posted on the message board that I was going to do this. Over a week ago. You acknowledged, and this is the logical consequence. In real life, there is no chance of you getting any sort of reprieve, and quite frankly I think your request is rather silly. Except for infantry, which grows in proportion to my population, I have made no large increases in my forces since early July. The only thing I bought in the last month was the squad of JAS-45's that is currently on a mission to poke you rather hard, so I am HIGHLY disinclined to acquiesce to your request. Boogitty. But what you CAN do (basically what i did) is say that everything is already ready.

Chief General Virgladi Deumnecor of Vercettia has issued a proclamation on behalf of the Vercettian Governing Council(tm), calling on the military of Vercettia to ready itself for war. "We can not tolerate these aggressive actions Daniamania is threatening against Jacona," Virgladi said. "Despite the fact that Vercettia is allied with nobody, and only has a non-aggression pact with Aaronakia, we can't stand to see a war going on that we're not part of."
In response to this, Vercettia has deployed about 25% of its estimated naval forces, although all ships are still withing Vercettian waters.
---------------------------------
OOC: I am having Xtreme difficulties logging in to the forum with Aaronakia. Aaronakia is allied with Jacona, but will take no action until war is already underway.

Squads 1 and 2 head south into Canadaplace, while squads 3 and 4 veer west into the wastelands of the fallen civilization of Nosferatu.
---------------------
Naval task forces 1, based in the port city of Luinlond, and 2, based to the north in Vinyalqualonde, recieve orders to stand out to sea. Each is composed of the following:
1 Devastator class Carrier
1 Aasimar-class Heavy Battleship
2 Dominator class battleships (gun range ~= 100 mi.)
2 Tyrian class Light Battleships
2 Portos class catamaran light carriers
2 Wildfire Missile Boat
1 Hithfalas class DDG (heavy destroyer)
1 Luinarad class DDG (light destroyer)
2 Furtive class FFG (light frigate)
20 Sting-class Light Corvette
2 Forthar class SSGN (Heavy attack submarine)
----------------------
As squads 3 and 4 pass over the ruins of the formerly bustling cities of Nosferatu, now still and dark beneath the passing hum of planes in the night, the pilots wonder what could have caused that proud nation, skilled in the ways of the vampyre, to crumble so quickly...

[3=jj, as in Jacques or Taj (Mahal)]
Looking up, the soldiers in Vercettia's Sabra tank group Aleph saw a wing of fighters passing through the Nosferatun skies. Undaunted, the Sabra tanks of Aleph group rolled past (or over, in many cases) the ruins of Jurakyoulah City, looking for any war material that survived the Fall of Nosferatu. As the commander of Aleph group, Phor Na3atar, radioed for the Zombie Transport Trucks to begin scouring the remains of a factory, he wished he had been assigned to a more active post...
--------------------------------
Ruby Fleet, comprised of the following ships, has positioned itself along the Daniamanian/Vercettian naval border:
Carriers: 2 Infusion (VNS Visser 3 and VNS Ursula), 1 Nimitz (VNS LeChuck), 1 Yorktown (VNS Mah Freend Amee), 5 Portos Light Carriers
Battleships: 2 Roydia (VNS Amazon and VNS Barbarian), 10 Iowa
Destroyers: 5 County, 5 Meteora, 30 Generic (that IS the name of the ship class)
Cruisers: 20 Kirov
Frigates: 20 Arleigh Burke
--------------------------------
Sapphire Fleet, comprised of the following ships, has left Vercettia's waters and gone out into the open ocean:
Carriers: 30 Yorktown
Amphibious Assault: 4 Wasp
Frigates: 5 Defiance
Bombarders: 10 Hellfire
---------------------------------
In other news, all residents of the Vercettian county of Owcheez (which is on the Daniamania-Vercettia border) have been conscripted, and apartment buildings are being turned into parking lots for tanks.

OOC: You don't need to reveal the presence of submarines in your fleet.
Daniamania
02-09-2004, 03:59
ooc: i didn't "reveal" anything. I just posted that so that you would know if I started calling on units that don't exist. Otherwise, in NS world you don't even know any of this is happening unless you happen you be observing it via satallite or similar. We really need a map. Maybe you could scan it somehow and send it to me? also, thirty carriers is a bit much for one group...
ic: Joe Palone, the young lead fighter pilot in Squad 3, saw some activity on his low-light camera system. He wished he could check it out, but he didn't have the time... already he could see the Vercettian border marked in red on his inertial navigation system. "Heads up boys, we're almost over the line..."
-------------------------
DN Fleet 2 Begins to head northeast. The Forthar-class subs (Blackfish and Ramius) take up stations far to the front, listening and sniffing for anything untoward. Radiating almost no noise, they were nearly invisible, and they had some of the most advanced weapons available in the world. They were ideal for their mission to identify and itercept any possible threats to the fleat behind.
-------------------------
Three squads of twelve F16 Falcons each cross the Nosferatu borders, with orders to destroy any Vercettian or Jaconan task forces they come accross. Armed with a fearsome array of missiles and miniguns, the agile fighters fanned out and cruised westward. They were preceeded by four individual XF-15 Cheetahs, which were tasked with identifying targets for the choppers.
One of them was ordered to the area around Jurakyouhla City...

Over Canadaplace, DAF squads 1+2 turn west and start descending. At 500 feet, they level off and increase speed as they prepare to enter hostile territory.
----------------------
Joe Palone's squad crosses the border at 300 feet of altitude. For a while, they had been getting fleeting radar threat-recieving warnings. Fortunately, the bombers and fighters had been designed with exactly this mission in mind and were nearly invisible on radar. The threat-recievers were getting more active as they approached a radar station, and Joe armed his ARM's (AntiRadiation Missiles) in preperation for the first bomb drop of the war...
----------------------
In one of the scouting Cheetahs, Zach Smiley was approaching Jurakyoulah City. As he examined his low-light camera, he noted a few vehicles moving towards the city. Passing the city limits, he noted many vehicles and what almost appeared to be humans but looked strangely disfigured. "Vercettian zombies!" he said to himself. Immediately he activated his radio, calling up F16 squad Platinum. "This is Scout 3 calling Platinum Leader. I see some Vercettian activity in Jurakyoulah, looks like you could have some." Platinum Leader relayed this to his squadmates, and the whole squad sped off northwest...

As Na3atar ordered the zombies back to their trucks, he glanced skyward, casually. "Hey," he said over his radio, "are those planes coming from Vercettia? They seem to be headed in our direction."
"Yeah, they do. They don't look like ours, though." replied one of the other tank drivers.
"Uh-oh." He switched on his shortwave radio, and called in to base. "Hey, Commander? I think we have incoming Daniamanian fighters, coming from the southeast." No response. Switching back to local radio, he told his group, "Look out, everyone. Looks like Daniamanian planes from the southeast."
--------------------------------------------
Although he didn't reply, Commander Rongow got Na3atar's message back at Dathurt Base in Vercettia. Although he doubted the Lieutenant's story, he decided to send a squad of Rain Fighters over to check out the situation. If the story was true, Na3atar's convoy of 8 Sabra tanks and 20 Zombie Transport Trucks would last mere minutes against an attack wing from Daniamania...
OOC: I'm going to force Jacob to post something on this thread. Stay tuned!

Having called in the general area of the target, Zach Smiley now took the time to scrutinize the area more closely. He observed the zombies scurrying for cover, and numerous tanks milling around. "Looks like some good pickings" he said to himself, and directed the incoming squadron to focus on the northeastern part of the city (ooc: i'll just assume that's where your guys were/are/whatever). Having done that, he turned north and went into a patrolling pattern to make sure that the F16's were undisturbed in their work.
Platinum Leader directed 4 of his fighters to go north and joing Scout 3 (Zach) in a patrol pattern. The rest he led in the actual raid, blasting over the city limits at mach 1. Eight F16's, each armed with a mix of three cluster bombs and two 500-lb bombs, armed their weapons and looked for targets. Having found a plaza filled with zombies running for cover in their carriers and tanks, Platinum Leader selected two cluster bombs, radioed to the rest of his squad "Release at will!" and pulled the release trigger...
--------------------
Joe Palone released one of his AGM-88 HARMS and saw a bright streak lance out from the bottom of his Cheetah, rocketing away toward the radar station invisible in the far-off darkness. Unless it was that cluser of lights about two miles away...
Scott O'Wiley, lead pilot of Squad 4 leads his group slightly farther west of Joe Palone's squad and turns north, followed by his flock of Rb-30 bombers.
--------------------
On the Devastator-class carrier Mornar, a radar plane is prepped for launched.
--------------------
DAF squads 1+2 approach the Jaconan border. Oliver Randaman, leader of Squad 1, radios back to his wingmen "Look sharp, characters, we're almost in."
"General Longbow!! I have an important message from the spy network at the Vercettian border!" said a communications officer. "What is it?" "It seems that an escaped group of zombies from a cargo truck has attacked the scouts, and only one survived. He's right here, sir."
"Jacona is in grave danger!" Shouted the mangled and bloody soldier. "How? Whats been happening?" said General Longbow, trying to calm this inconsolable creature. "There is a large Daniamanian fleet heading our way now, as we speek!" "What?!?! May he forever be cursed, that vile creature named Dan!!"
"Deploy emergency forces F through J! set up the anti-aircraft Batteries at the border! Act quickly, men, for war is afoot!!"
Soon after.....
"You mean we didn't tell you?" said Military Ruler Vlokard of the HAHAHA (HELPM----- Army Human Anihilation HAZMATT? Association), exasperated during a call from General Longbow. "We'd better get our own forces out there then!" In the distance, commands could be heard over the Voice Transmitter to get available foces to Jurakyoulah to assist the failing zombies and to hold back the Danamanian strike forces for as long as possible. "Dont worry, Longbow, Helpm----- will come to assist you as we always have."
ooc: It probably would be a good idea to say where all your troops are and stuff every week, or some other set increment of time, so that we could all know and not get confused, like i am. I have very little idea where any of your forces are.
Daniamania

ooc: I got news for you buddy, you can't "hold back" a strike force of aircraft. You either destroy them or some get through. My current troop locations:
All ground troups are still inside Daniamania. Fleet 2 (includes the Mornar) is approximately on the Vercettia-Daniamania border, somewhere out to sea. Three squads of F-16 are roaming around Nosferatu, one of which (Platinum Group) is currently releasing bombs over J-city (i can't spell it in full). Two mini-squads of bombers are currently crossing Jacona's eastern border at about 300 ft of altitude, and two more have just crossed Vercettia's southern border, one of which (led by Joe Palone) has just launched a missile at a Vercettian radar post. Fleet 1 is heading south towards Jacona. Aaron and I made a map last time I was there, enjoy.
ooc: I meant to say that, but i couldnt think of how to phrase it. The locations of my troops are fairly obvious. I have just deployed emergency forces F through J, consisting of 100 F-22A Raptors, 300 F-15C Eagle, 70 F-16C Falcon, 100 F/A-18E Super Hornet and a couple random other forces that happened to be in the area at the time. I'm not entirely sure about helpm-----
ic: "So far its been clear out here. Wait! i have a Danamainian plane on my radar! Heads up everyone..."

11-09-2004, 01:34
ooc: um... who said that? because my reply will vary greatly depending on who/where it is... also, just so nobody's confused, only a few hours have elapsed in NS time from the first post 'til now, and it is currently about 3 in the morning.

Phor Na3atar looked up as the bombs fell towards his tank. "Oh, woof," said he. And then...
KABOOM!!!!!1!11111!1!!one
--------------------------------------------
The tank division was, of course, wiped out. They hadn't planned on meeting any resistance except for maybe some Nosferatu survivors. The stealth fighters, however, roared ever closer to their destination...
--------------------------------------------
Rongow swore in Vercettian when he heard that contact had been lost with the tanks at Jurakyoulah City. He ordered Captain Charles L. Charles of the VNS LeChuck to take Ruby Fleet across the border into Daniamanian territory, as Rongow himself typed a command to the military base at the border "town" of Cuddlywhiterabbits to launch "as many Tomahawks as necessary" at key military installations in Daniamania.
---------------------------------------------
As the AGM-88 streaked across the Vercettian sky, a nearby Patriot missile battery launched four anti-missile missiles at the incoming warhead. Four groups of Vercettian-modified Black Dog stealth fighters scrambled to defend Vercettia's southern border...

Platinum Group made reports to Platinum Leader, giving in short messages accounts of the destruction they had caused. Platinum Leader considered the messages, and radioed to the rest of the group, "Alright boys, we've done enough here, lets leave." Zach Smiley headed off to the west, to look for more groups. Platinum Group zoomed off to the southwest, on a similar mission...
Joe Palone watched four streaks of fire blossom from the ground and converge on his ARM. "Bloody SAM's!" he said to himself, then armed his other AIM-88. The weapon reported it was tracking a Patriot battery, and Joe Palone launched his second missile...
Aboard the Blackfish, a sonarman jerked awake. He'd been not paying attention, but now he heard something that didn't sound like the whales he'd been tracking for the last few days...
"Bombers! A bunch of them! (im not sure how many you have)"
Fighter gorups F- I scramble to knock the suprised Danamanian bombers out of the sky. Meanwhile, group J flew past to scout for any more, sure that the others could deal with this imminent threat.
ooc: we kind of gave up on the map. i think we should just say which countries border what, and anything else you can think of.
Daniamania
14-09-2004, 03:11
00c: Groups F-I cannot possibly scramable fast enough to intercept my squad and destroy them in the space of about 5 minutes. That's about how long it was from when the bombs started falling over Jurakyoulah to my last post, in which i did not address Oliver Randaman's situation (at the Jacona-Canadaplace frontier) because the bell ending 6th period rang.
Squads 1+2 are each composed of one JAS-45 Eagle Stealth fighter and three RB-30 Stealth bombers.
The Wasteland of Former Nosferatu is in the middle. Vercettia is to the north, sharing a border with Nosferatu to the south, Daniamania to the east, and i don't know what on the west. Daniamania is to the northeast and east sharing a border with Vercettia on its northwest, Canadaplace on its south, and Nosferatu on the west. Canadaplace has Daniamania to the north and Jacona to the west. Jacona has Nosferatu to the north and Canadaplace to the east. I don't remember where Helpm---- and Aaronakia are.
I'll post something ic tommorrow, i hope, but it's time for sleep now.

ooc: I didn't mean to sound harsh and annoying, if I did i apologize.
However, a small note on modern aircraft warfare: stealth technology (at least at the present day) reduces a plane's radar signature dramatically. I think a B-2's might be smaller than a seagull's, i'm not sure. So anything with stealth technology would look more like a bird than an airplane, much less a Daniamanian bomber. So anyhow...
ic: Joe Palone watched his second missile lance in towards the point where the interceptors had been launched from. This time he had the satisfaction of seeing an explosion blossom on the black ground, and seeing the threat reciever lessen its warning level some. "Scratch one Patriot." All that action took about a minute, and Joe found himself sweating. If that Patriot had locked on to him instead of the missile... *pinch* Joe tried to concentrate on his task, leading his squad deeper into Vercettia (ooc: i'm not sure where exactly they're going, i'm thinking the missile fields along the border, maybe?). Leaving a burning hole in Vercettia's defenses, Joe Palone and co. streaked off into the darkness.
About 20 miles NW of DF2, Blackfish was moving at about 5 knots. At that speed, it was as close as possibile to silent. The sonarman, Tomba Freshard, was listening intently to the sounds of some sort of mechanical object to the northwest. "Conn, sonar, we have a contact bearing 290, range unknown. Designate this contact Sierra 12." "Sonar, conn, thanks for the lookout. Keep an eye on it."
Zach Smiley was flying over a random stretch of Nosferatun desert when he saw a column of armored vehicles on his low-light camera. He didn't see any of the telltale zombie carriers, but he didn't know of any Daniamanian forces in the region... "Scout 3 to Platinum Group, I have another target for you..."
"Platinum Leader to Scout 3, acknowledge, we've just finished busting up some tanks down here, so we only have our cannons left, and some have a single bomb. Our ETA is 15 minutes, over."
Oliver Randaman and the rest of his squad were soaring west just over the Jaconan border at about 300 feet, when suddenly his threat reciever started sounding. He remembered from his breifing that the Jaconan air defense radars were not known to be on, and guessed that they must have just activated. He also knew that the stealth coating on his sqaud's aircraft made their signatures very small, so unless they passed right over a station they were semi-safe. If there were other stealth aircraft out there, then (if they noticed each other at all) it would probably degenerate to a wild launch-and-run, with total airial chaos and funness.
ooc: Time again for bed.

15-09-2004, 13:44
OOC: I don't know whose armored vehicles those are. They bez not mine.
IC: Captain Charles L. Charles watched the display on the Tomahawks screaming closer to a Daniamanian city. He felt a bit uneasy at the apparent lack of submarines protecting the Daniamanian fleet ahead. "Time to end the standoff," he thought to himself. "Commander Largo!" he shouted into his radio, "take your battleships and cruisers within firing range of that fleet. I'm launching our B-2s and Black Dog fighters."
-----------------------------------
Rongow didn't expect any survivors from the group at Jurakyoulah City, so he was surprised when he saw a lone, mangled ZTT pull into the Vercettian base. No zombies remained, except one - the zombified form of Phor Na3atar. "Na3atar! Too bad about your tanks, eh?" greeted Rongow when the zombie was brought to him.
"Brains. Brrraaaaaaaiiiiiinnnnsss!" answered Na3atar.
"Yeah, me too. Listen, I need your valuable military opinion on something. Should our tanks cross the Daniamanian border and start a full assault?"
"Unnnnnnnnnnnnnhhh."
"I thought so. The assault shall commense at onceellipsis"

ooc: why'd you quote it? and did Rongo get eaten by Na3atar-zombie, or is he just being strange? Also, just so you know, my Dominator battleships can fire guided shells out to ~100 miles. They have a low reload rate, though.
ic: Tomba Freshard on the Blackfish was now tracking multiple targets. They were too far out to classify - he estimated maybe 60 miles (through a phenomenon involving sound refraction, modern sonar can detect things in donut-shaped bands known as convergence zones about every 20 miles out from the sub or so) - but they were definately engine noises. "Conn, sonar, classify contacts Sierra 12 and above as probable Vercettian vessels, estimate third CZ (convergence zone)." "Acknowledged, sonar." Captain Aeradan Slaidekh knew that the fleet behind him probably knew of the enemy fleet through radar coverage, so he didn't bother to try sending a message. He hoped the Ramius, about 8 miles to his southwest, knew about the approaching fleet, but there was nothing he could do about it that would'nt reveal his presence. Instead, he had his men load 2 Mk 60 Swordfish torpedoes and 4 Harpoon anti-ship missiles into the torpedo tubes.
On the E2C Hawkeye flying radar cover for the Mornar, radar operator Marco Abiksada was watching a cluster of blips in the northwest corner of his screen. The range to the center one was indicated as 76 miles. That was inside the range of the Dominator-battleships (Ancalagon and Glaurung), and the the Hawkeye had been sending information back to the Mornar, which distributed it to the surrounding task force. He hoped they would fire soon and get a shot in first.
On the Ancalagon, the target coordinates had been continually updated from the orbiting Hawkeye via the Mornar. Now over the radio came the command from the Mornar "Ancagalon and Glaurung, you may fire at will." Captain Dexxter Slaigydra gave the order to the gunnery officers. The railguns that ran the length of the ship, wich were already loaded with guided rounds, were dialed in to 75 miles, powerd up and hurled their lethal contents northwestward... seconds later, the Glaurung's railguns echoed those of the Ancalagon... and 4 HE guided shells were flying towards the Vercettian fleet...
Joe Palone and company now turned east.
The town of Nar-galad, about 50 miles east of the Vercettia-Daniamanian border was home to the 73rd Air Defense battalian. They were equipped with an air-defense radar continually sweeping out to the west, as well as a Patriot launch vehicle and several radar-controlled anti-aircraft guns.
The radar operator was observing the contacts swarming east out of Vercettia, and assumed (correctly) that anything coming from that direction was hostile. He issued the order to power up the Patriot battery and man the AA guns. Yay.
ooc: if you studyed up on Jaconan civilizatoins and customs. The Tri legged thing, a treetop living bird eater, has long ago ended the previously large bird populations. Now, no birds fly in the Jaconan skys. thats how our pilots managed to identify the planes, instead of thinking they were birds. ALSO: are you actually bombing me? or are they just flying in to say "hi".
Daniamania
20-09-2004, 19:11
um... no. Even if there are no birds nesting and living there, which i highly doubt, there is no way that birds don't occaisionally fly over jaconan land, even if they do end up getting eaten by tri-legged things eventually. ALSO...
I am definately going to drop SOMETHING over your territory. And it probably won't be in the mood to "just say 'hi.'"

OOC: I quoted it because the forum is dumb and it won't let me log on with Aaronakia.
OOC MORE: The very idea of having a country in which there are no birds is absurd.
IC: As the B-2s came within bombing range of the Daniamanian fleet, they saw guided shells screaming past underneath them, followed by "Kaboom!"s as they struck Vercettian targets. The bombers began to release their payloads onto the Daniamanian carriers, keeping a sharp eye out for enemy fighters.
"Fire at will!" commanded Commander Largo. The first Vercettian shells were launched...
-------------------------------
The Merkava 4s and Abramseys rolled over the glowing, green, radioactive line that marked the Daniamania/Vercettia border. The order crackeled in from the leader, Phor Nairzool: "Kill anything that moves, boys. In fact, kill anything that stays still, also."
-------------------------------------------
OOC ONCE AGAIN: Dan, I have no idea what your last post means.
Daniamania
28-09-2004, 19:28
ooc: Um... it means I currently have a small (about 4 strong) force of fighters, armed with air-to-ship- and air-to-air-missiles, that is hanging out about 4 miles northwest (the direction that your fleet is)of the Mornar, with more taking off. Also, although it's too late and i'll overlook it, to my knowledge the B2 is not carrier capable, seeing as the runways it needs are over a mile long. Also, I think you created a mini-time warp, as my battleships fired from a range of about 75 miles. If you have WWII/Cold-war era battleships (The Iowa's definately are, I don't know about the Roydias) then they are horrendously outranged at the moment. Therefore...
ic: Although the bombers that delivered them were apparently invisible, the bombs that were now falling toward the Mornar were not. Immediately the vessel's automatic anti-missile systems activated, and the radar-guided vulcan cannons roared to life, spitting streams of metal into the sky. Most of the bombs were swatted out of the sky, showering the Mornar with variously-sized shreds of metal. Captain Scotty Steppenteim (out on the flying bridge) jumped, and asked "What the -bleep- was that?" "Um... sir, it appears some bombs just fell out of the sky on us..." "Gah! Activate the air-search radars! FIND THEM DAMNIT!! NOW!!!!!!!!oneone!one"-blat-. One of the bombs that the vulcans didn't get drilled him into the floor, subsequently blasting the flying bridge into teeny little bits and wrecking the windows on that side of the ship.
--
Flying one of the Apparitions, Rudo Jurdo got a recall order from the Mornar and turned around, accompanied by his wingman. On the way back, he saw two objects go sailing past on either side of him towards the Vercettian fleet.

OOC: Yeah, I have no idea what I'm doing. My Iowas have been upgraded a bit, but not a lot. The Roydia's are pretty new. I pretty much forgot the capabilities of any of my ships, so I'm just going with the flow.

On the DS Blackfish: "Conn, sonar, classify targets Sierra 13-23 as definate Iowa-class battlewagons. We don't have any, so they're almost definately Vercettian. Range to closest is about 30 miles." Captain Aeradan Slaidekh acknowledged. The fire-control team had been continuously updating the firing solution for the Harpoon missiles, and the Captain figured that if they were launched now at least one would score. But he decided to wait for the Iowas to stumble right on top of him. He was about 20 miles out from his fleet, just about firing range for an Iowa (ooc: he doesn't know about upgrades)...
On the DS Ramius: About seven miles SW of the Blackfish, Captain Malobadon Selosevic was getting an itchy trigger finger. He also had 2 Swordfish torpedoes and 4 Harpoons in his tubes and he wanted to use them... but patience, he knew, was the greatest trait a sub captain could have.
On the E2C: Marco Abiksada was watching the dash of the Vercettian battlewagons with great intrest. He knew that once they got in range, the Daniamanian fleet would probably be outgunned. So it was his job to make sure the Mornar, Anacalagon and Glaurung didn't let them get there.

ooc: uh... YOU NEVER MENTIONED WHO IT WAS THAT SAID THEY WERE DANIAMANIAN BOMBERS!! If they were on a ground station, then everything i said applies. If they were aboard an aircraft then you SHOULD DANG WELL HAVE SAID SO!!!! And, just so you know, fighters usually don't have their individual radars on because they are extremely revealing (similar to a flashlight), and they usually receive info from a controlling aircraft (usually something like a modified 747) or from a ground station. AND radars don't indicate speeds, and something with a signature the size of a bird (i.e. a B2) would be similar to watching a bee flying a few centimeters above a messy lawn from ten feet up. and also i was sort of doing this on a turn-based basis (like i say something happens, you say what happens as a result, I say what happens as a result of that). yay.

In the Daniamanian city of Mornen (Blackwater), Major Jorl Domo was was reading the reports from the watchers out in the hills around the city. They reported large numbers of Merkava and Abrams tanks approaching from the west. He wasn't expecting any reinforcement shipments, so he gave the order to button down the tanks and get ready. In command of Special Platoon 34, Joe MiDaggio surveyed his 5 (including his) Gauss tanks in their revetments one last time, then looked at the positions immediately to his left and right. The surrounding platoons were all Merkava IV's, and most of them were dug in. And, once again, I have no idea what your last post means. :headbang: What is a "revetment"? Are the 200 tanks in Mornen, or are they just near it? Are the platoons that are "dug in" the same group as the 200? What does it mean, "dug in"? Is platoon 34 just the five Gausses? What does it mean to "button down" the tanks? And have you seen the new Cheat Commandos cartoon? And what is up with this: :gundge: ?

NEWS FLASH
The mystery surrounding the sudden fall of Nosferatu has yet to be solved, but a new civilization has arisen from the ashes. Calling themselves the "Ignazians," the ~5,000,000 survivors have settled in the southwestern portion of what used to be Nosferatu. Led by the revolutionary Nikolai Hellbound, the government forged by the Ignazians are still under dispute.
The rest of Nosferatu has officially been declared "no-man's land."

ooc: Welcome, Nick. A revetment is a low wall made of rubble or earth or stone. Dug in means exactly what it sounds like: a shallow hole (maybe plus a revetment) to lower the tank's profile and give it more protection. Major Domo and Joe MiDaggio are in the city, with a separate group of 2 divisions to the north.

Vercettia is WEST of Daniamaniana, Daniamania is EAST of Vercettia. Enjoy.
There are five tanks per platoon, five platoons per company, four companys per division. In RL, tank platoons are between 3 and 5 tanks, depending on the country. OOC: We REALLY need a map of some sort for RP-ing tank battles... the naval ones are weird enough... also the Daniamanian Merkava divisions north of Mornen are the Malgon (Flamestone) and CarnLosse (Red Ice) divisions. There is a total of one Merkava division- the Caransar(RedStone)- and a company of Guass tanks around and in the city itself (which means there are four more platoons of them running around besides SP-34). There is also the 42st infantry divison in the city and the 13rd division outside it in mingled with the Mormal division. Each infantry division has 20,000 soldiers. They have all sorts of goodies, like anti-tank missiles and such. Also we seem to have different opinions as to the geography and tactical situation around Mornen... YAY SEE MESSAGE BOARD
ic: In the western suburbs of Mornen, Joe MiDaggio was watching a group of abramses approach a police station on the outskirts. When they started smashing it to bits, he new his men would get nervous, so he told them to hold until more vercettian tanks appeared... the order was repeated down the line, as the dug in Merkavas of the Caransari and Gausses lurked in their dugouts... More vercettian tanks appeared over the ridgline...
General Dao WrMonger of the CarnLosse division waited for the order from Jorl Domo to set his tanks in motion (ooc: Domo is now a Major General, yay).
Commanding the Malgon div., General Tranli Bekert did the same...
Major Domo listened to more reports from observers in the lines... he knew the battle would be interesting, and that it was time to swing the hammer and smash the Vercettians to blithereens. "CarnLosse and Malgon divisions, go!" he ordered into the raido... WrMonger and Bekert both acknawledged, and relayed the orders down to their divisions. Oc: bedtime yay.

Ahead of him and his squad, by now deep inside of Jacona, Oliver Randaman saw hundreds of points of light wink into existance in the air, and his threat-reciever informed him that he was being tracked by several gazillion (actually four, on account of super stealthiness) missiles. He reduced altitude to about 50 feet, and turned obliquely away from the missiles' incoming vector. His squad mates scattered, losing themselves in the groundclutter of trees and whatnot. The missiles skimmed overhead, falling all over in the trees and continuing on, confused, into the East. Squad 2 had escaped, for now.
There was an explosion.
"Ha ha!" laughed the fighters as they yelled in triumph, and starting to sing their warcry.

Oliver Randaman, flying a JA5-45 Eagle, was the only member of Squad 2 armed with air-to-air missiles, and was the only one able to defend himself. The Rb-30's had sacrificed weapons in favor of increased stealth, range, and performance, and so far it had paid off. He radioed his squad and said "Checkpoint Ruffled Beaver in One-Thirty." Each Squadmate acknowledged with a click on the radio, then headed for RuffledBeaver. They were all being constantly pinged by radar sets, but they were secure in the knowledge that it would take a very alert and skilled, not to mention lucky, operator to pick them out of the ground clutter...

B) 15 MINUTES LATER my airplanes would be 200 MILES AWAY!!!!!11!!!!1!!! so...
ic: Squad 2 had rondevouzed at Checkpoint Ruffled Beaver after their narrow escape from the net of fighters, and were heading south at 800 mph. but now the enemy knew they were there, and so they assumed the Jaconan air defense dudes would be more alert.
