Invasion of Lybia

The Burnsian Desert

OOC: This only happens if what CM is saying is in fact, true, and I have three airfields open to my disposal.

IC:

At 30,000 feet...

The pilot of the 747 reached for his microphone. "This is Burnsian Airways flight 1337 requesting landing clearance, over."

"Tower to Burnsian Airways flight 1337, request granted," responded the tower.

The 747 made the final turn into the runway and touched down. It began taxiing, but before the aircraft made it to the gate, it stopped.

"Tower to Burnsian Airways flight 1337," said the tower over the radio, "what in Sam Hill is going on?"

"..."

Suddenly, the rear gate opened and out came three PL-4 tanks. Apparently, the 747 that was expected had been switched with this modified one before takeoff in TBD. Along with the tanks came forty Special Operations troopers, backing up the tanks. Bursting into the lower level, they took airport employees as hostages and moved up to Terminal Concourse A. Then, the saw three B2-T stealth transports touch down outside. Out of the transports came reinforcements, including more tanks and APCs.

OOC: You have just made a MAJOR error, mate.

IC: "Sir!" shouted a young Lieutenant, "Libyans report under fire from unknown contacts!"
"Eh? What?" asked General Shazly, still concentrating on what he would do next with his armour.
"Unknown hostiles at (OOC: Um, which airport are you at? Well whichever one it is) airport! They've got tanks and all!"
"Well I'll be...order a full alert. Get the 3rd Regiment on the road, with a regiment of air cover, pronto."
"Yessir." The Lieutenant ran off toward the tent in which his Colonel was resting.

Forty minutes later, a long cloud of dust could be seen approaching the airport as 95 T-95M MBTs advanced upon it, backed up by 1,000 infantry in their 125 BMP-3Ms. 24 Mi-24VUs chattered overhead as the group approached, and a squadron of Su-33Bs flew high cover.

TO unknown hostiles: Surrender now or be destroyed. This is your final warning.

OOC: Goddamnit CM where's my diversion...

And by forty minutes later, the airport would have been secured and entrenched, hostages taken, shoulder-launched SAMs readied... I could probably hold my ground. Probably.

Did I mention the 40 artillery guns and 36 Smerch launchers? I didn't bollocks. Well they're there. Sorry. Should pay more attention to my unit structures, heh. Oh, and the 24 Tu-160Bs now residing at Homs airbase?

IC: "They don't look too entrenched," muttered a company commander as he scanned the terrain from his tank. He thought about it for a moment, then decided to let one more warning be issued and then request the artillery.

OOC: They're halted about 10Km away from the airport, just so you know.

Oh, and where is this? Then I can get a map. I find it helps if these things are illustrated.

"Eh?" muttered an infantryman.
"I'm guessing that's what happens to men who surrender out there." the Corporal shook his head. "No way to motivate your men."

The speakers crackled again. "So that means no, then?"

OOC: Of course Cairo's in Egypt. You didn't think I'd take a full fleged (sp?) invasion into Lybia? Did you?

Speaking of which, aren't you in Lybia right now? You just invaded Egypt.

So you create a thread called "Invasion of Libya," then RP your forces landing and taking hostages, and then...oh forget it. No moves took place if you're gonna play that kind of crap with me.

OOC: It was a bit of misconception on my part, I forgot that Cairo was in Egypt, and Tripoli was in Lybia... I never did get 6th grade geography. Might as well take World Geographics next year.

Sorry, DPUO, my bad.

Must iron this out with CM... do you have AIM or MSN?

Ooc: Indeed it is true, in the other Libyan thread... I kept talking about the 3 privately owned airfields in the interior, owned by nobles, and the 500 men each keeping them open... But alas, nobody attempted to shut them down.

Well, you can try to attack from those AFs if you want. It's a really stupid idea, but you can try it.

Farms where airfields are located:

One is between Surt and Ra's Lanuf, but south

One is on the coastal area between Darnah and Benghazi

One is southwest of Tripoli along the border of what used to divide Arabian Libya from Mississippian Libya.
